I put in a NEW furnace two years ago by this company. Two years later it was leaking so I called them to look at and it was a broken valve, They charged me $99. I couldn't afford to fix. Magtek was the 3rd of 4 quotes I had scheduled to replace a 20 year old AC unit. I had also heard from Home Depot/King HVAC (Carrier), Four Seasons (Lennox), and another local HVAC provider (American Standard). The first two attempted to oversell me on high SEER (high efficiency) AC Units (15 SEER and 18 SEER) alone without discussing the limitations of my current furnace and zoning to actually realize the efficiency of those very expensive AC units. The last quote was to upgrade my AC unit slightly (3 ton to 4 ton, still 13 SEER, no efficiency rebates) go with the same 80% efficient furnace that I had from American Standard, which was much more economical, but they were not offering any promotional financing of any kind. Darryl from Magtek was the first to explain to me the limitations of the higher efficiency AC units without upgrading your furnace and zoning at the same time. He did not try to oversell it, just gave me the facts, and quoted 4 different scenarios (AC Upgrade Only, AC/Furnace mid-tier upgrade, high efficiency AC/Furnace upgrade, and also new damper/zoning install as a separate add on to any/all of the above). After looking at costs, and taking into consideration Tranes/Wells Fargo, 0% Financing for 60 months offer (an offer we did not see matched from any of the other major providers), we decided it would be best to go all in and upgrade to the high efficiency systems (14 SEER 4 ton AC, 96% Efficient Furnace, and new zoning dampers (not the absolute highest, but a substantial increase from our 20 year old system). Darryl was also very considerate in closing the deal with a few add on's to secure the bid. We scheduled a Saturday install, they came immediately on time, and worked with a crew of about 3-4 from 7:30 am to about 5 pm to finish the job. All of their techs were very professional and friendly, answering all of our questions along the way. With the addition of the high efficiency furnace, they needed to add a 3 inch exhaust pipe directly to the outside through the brick wall, and they went to great lengths to keep that pipe high and tight to the ceiling making it hardly noticeable (not an easy thing to do on a replacement system with a finished basement). They left the place cleaner than how they found it, helped us set up and make sure we understood the new wifi thermostats, and from all appearances, did an excellent job. Hoping this system will last us another 20+ years and lower our utility bills in the process. Extremely happy with Magtek and would recommend to anyone. read more

My furnace 30 year old furnace saw its last day and alerted my family with a CO alarm in the middle of the night. Magtek was out the next day to quote and the following day to install! Paul explained everything and included 0% for 72 months financing on the full HVAC combo. The install crew (2 guys) were in and out in one day and left the work areas cleaner than they found them. I called because my AC compressor was not coming on. They came and said it was the Capacitor. I was at work but my wife was there. I was on the phone and asked her to ask the tech what brand of part he was putting in. He said he didn't know but it would be on my receipt. I get home from work and I notice the fan on top of the unit was not running now. I called and was told the tech would call me. I asked if I would be charged for another service call and they said they didn't know! When the tech called he said that the fan most likely would need to be replaced. I asked that he come back and check his work because the fan never had a problem before today and I could also push the fan and it would run fine. It just would not start up with the unit ever time. I said based on what it is doing it seems to be the capacitor again or maybe the wiring. He said, "No, I'm pretty sure its the fan." I decided to take a half-day off work for him to come the next day because I did not trust him at this point and wanted to watch what he did. He decided to cancel 10 minutes before he was going to come because he said he could not get my fan until the next day. I told him I didn't think it was the fan and all the symptoms pointed to the capacitor he put in. He still insisted that it was the fan. I finally called another company to look at it and they found Magtek put in a $6 made in China capacitor. Magtek tried to charge me $312 for this 20-minute job and $6 part. :( If something doesn't seem right get another opinion. read more

It doesn't get any better than this company and believe me, we shopped around. Joe, the owner was very helpful over the phone, Darryl the co-owner had a professional written quote to us within hours. They weren't the cheapest price, but certainly competitive. They do not cut corners with quality and it was worth a few extra dollars to ensure that good product was used. They are very honest, don't just sell you what you want to buy. Install guys, Chris and Mike, exceeded expectations at every level: came early!, neat and clean, professional, polite and a little funny. They worked quickly and efficiently. They even fixed some installation problems I had from a different company when I had my furnace installed several years ago (they balances the furnace, which is a big deal, glued the exhaust flu, which could've been a fire hazard, and capped off a hose), no extra charge and no complaint. Finally, they finished the job earlier than expected. Don't let the lack of yelp reviews pick someone else. My friend and her family has used this company many times and has raving reviews as well. I have had them service my air conditioning in the past and they came up with some ways to improve some of the deficiencies in the 2nd floor, zoned air conditioning system. I have had them replace furnaces in rental homes, also. I just had them replace the 1st and 2nd floor air conditioning systems. They reworked the ductwork in the 2nd floor air handler room as part of the installation. The 2nd floor needed to go, the rest was optional, but, decided to get it done instead of wait for the old system to fail altogether. It greatly improved the air flow to one of the bedrooms and also quieted down the noise. This new system is overall much quieter than the original system. My house is heated by radiant heat. It has a furnace, that is used in the event the boiler goes down for the basement and first floor heating. 2nd floor, no back up system. This furnace was also replaced with the new air conditioning equipment. I am really happy with it as it functions as a humidifier for the basement and first floor, so hopefully I won't need to run a humidifier and keep filling the tank in the winter. So far, this has worked well, but, haven't had any real winter cold to test it out thoroughly. Friendly, knowledgeable people, very clean and truly interested in doing a high quality installation and spend the effort and time to do things "nicely", meaning they make it look as neat and clean as they can.
