McKinney location needs new management, now! I made a reservation a month in advance for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner for 5 people so they should have expected the place to be full right??? Apparently not. The service was terrible, terrible, terrible!! It was so bad that people stood next to us by the door waiting for a table the entire time we were seated. I said seated not eating because we didn't get to eat together! They brought out meals one person at a time. The waitress and the kitchen made so many mistakes on our orders that we lost count. We never got egg rolls we ordered. People were furious and screaming at the front cashier staff to let them be seated for their reservations as well. An entire family of 7+ just left while waiting to be seated because they had a baby. They should have given us our money back. This is sad for us because we were regular customers at the Plano location which has been amazing for many years, so we were hoping for the closer location in McKinney to be good as well even though they don't serve the same menu. The famous dumplings were dry! The crab Rangoons were fishy, yuk! My shrimp pomelo was fine but I ate alone! There is no excuse for not having staff and backup resources for Christmas Eve in north Dallas when you know that it will be busy all night from opening to closing. I enjoyed the Hong Kong Style Noodles. It reminded me of the chinese dinners we used to have as a family as a kid. The price of it was outrageous, around 20 dollars for some noodles, sauce and veggies and some protein. Not sure if i would go back given it's overpriced read more

Finally!!! Good and authentic Chinese food in McKinney,Texas! Best part, it is less than a mile from my house! Woot, woot! They have my favorite Hong Kong style pan fried noodles in a super umami gravy with combination meats, shrimp and vegetables. I have also tried wonton soups from several Chinese restaurants in the area & surrounding. Let me just tell you, as a Chinese woman, Mah Jong knows how to make the REAL wonton soup. It's so good, I get 3-4 large orders for take out all the time. The funny thing is, I have ordered from them through grub hub many times until I found out the restaurant is literally just blocks from me. Lol. So happy I don't have to drive all the way to Plano for some good Chinese food anymore! read more

Food was excellent and service was even better! My family and I tried the orange chicken (omg so good), all in fried rice (great!), the salad with ginger dressing (awesome, chicken fried rice (yeah, not bad), and then a couple of appetizers- pan seared dumplings, popcorn shrimp, and panko fried shrimp (all pretty good!). There's good Chinese food in McKinney! If I had a dollar for every time I read about a great Chinese place in McKinney only to try it and be disappointed, well I'd probably have enough for an entree at Mah-Jong. First off, this IS the Chinese food you are looking for, tasty but not over the top, and all of the ingredients seem fresh. But don't be fooled, this is not bland Chinese. I tried the pork fried rice and the sesame chicken which I think are US Chinese food staples, and I was not disappointed. While the prices are certainly on the higher end, I found the portions sizable. Additionally service was fast and everything was packaged up nicely. I had a to go order, but I did find the dining area nicely decorated and much nicer that the strip mall location would make you assume. If you are fatigued by all the Chinese food disappointment in this town, at least give it one more try and check out Mah-Jong. read more

We had chicken dumplings, which were just right. Then Merlot beef tenderloin that was cooked perfectly to medium- delectable. Kung pao chicken was amongst our top 5 ever. Finally, the orange chicken which had orange peel and the dish was perfect. Overall the service was great. The prices are a tad high, but you will not regret the experience. read more

We got take out from Mahjong a couple of nights ago. We were excited to have a new Chinese restaurant near us as we have had trouble finding one that was acceptable that stayed in business. The food was excellent the best take out we've had since moving to the area 12 years ago. For appetizers we ordered the Xiao Long Bao Dumplings, Hot & Sour Soup and Egg Drop Soup and the vegetable egg rolls. The dumplings were up with the best I've ever had, came with ginger vinegar dipping sauce, really delicious. The soups were both good, the egg rolls were as expected, but the sweet & sour sauce was differs in a good way, darker, richer and more complex...very good For entrees we ordered Orange Peel Beef and Stir Fried Chicken Breast with Brown Sauce. Both excellent. We can't wait to eat Mahjong Chinese again read more

This place caught my wife's attention since she recently learned how to play Mahjong with her girlfriends.. it's true the price is higher than your typical McKinney Chinese, but I think it's justified in the quality of the food. Sad to say this was a very disappointing experience. We had the all in fried rice and not much flavor and cool temperature. The orange chicken was over cooked. Egg rolls were good . Mah Jong in McKinney may be a bit difficult to find near the intersection of Custer and Virginia in McKinney, next to Budget Truck Rental, but it is well worth the trip! While a bit pricy, the service is excellent and the food is superb. No complaints from anyone around the table as we enjoyed. multiple dishes! The best Asian food in the area by far. read more
