Love this central outdoor bar with live music. They have changed their menu since Covid so not as wonderful as before. Who removes calamari from bar food?? That's criminal if you ask me. Also their Thai chicken wings. All these used to be on their happy hour menu as well. So bummed about that! Wish they would redo it back to the old menu 2019! Happy hour is 4-7 and 8-11. Check for current hours, just in case. Had the Passion Fruit Mojito, Mango Mai Tai and Maitai Tai (didn't care for this one) We added Fire Shrimp which is smothered in sweet Thai sauce. Really came to send off a friend who's starting a new chapter moving to the mainland but got stuck and ended up being a GNO 1.0 Finding new friends is refreshing as we go through many chapters in life we grow and find that newness and keeping it real. I used to work steps away from Mai Tai's from back in the day and though the layout is the same the pandemic situation has taken it's toll that I'm hoping gets better. Service is polite and nice just a bit slow as we constantly needed to search for our server and requests would be forgotten as being in the similar industry it's understood but when we are on the flip side it's our turn to be take care of is a bit disappointing. Drinks came out fast and perfect between our shots of Jameson we had Lychee Sunset, Wicked Wahine, Mary Jane and Blame it on the Aperol lol! Ya we started to talk, laugh, talk and laugh!! Definitely a good place to stop for happy hour or to listen to some music! My friend said previous summers had great musicians and special events. The drinks are very reasonably priced and refreshing. One of my friends got the poke dish which was alright, a tad bit expensive at market price but a good sized portion. We came after work on a weekday and it was decently full but still spaced out so groups could enjoy their own tables or couches. The staff are really nice too. We dropped into Mai Tai Bar yesterday to wish a friend goodbye and good luck. It was a clean beautiful setting. The tables were clean and service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and stopped by as needed to bring drinks and refills. The pu-pu's were delivered timely and were also delicious. I can't say enough about the comfortable environment and very attentive staff. The part that sucked was the person playing on the stage. Although his music sounded good, it was EXTREMELY LOUD!!!!!!!!! Everyone at the table had to "scream" to communicate with each other. It was ridiculous how loud he was playing. It was completely unnecessary to play that loud. EVERYONE in our party grew frustrated trying to talk over his loud music. We will definitely consider this next time we plan a visit to Mai Tai. read more

The only downfall we encountered was in ordering ice tea.. the only sweetener they have is white sugar. Still catching up! Well, I myself the third wheel in a shopping excursion. I hate shopping! We were going to go to Chinatown but we sort of gravitated toward Mai Tai. I guess it was to check out the new management of the bar which is now under Olive Garden. Looks like they kept most of the drinks the same and have changed the food menu which was really good! We had lettuce wraps and wings. Good flavors! We did have to wait in line which was funny. The first table we had stools and the girls were uncomfortable, so they asked to move and the management accommodated. Staff was friendly and overall it was a fun experience. Unfortunately this place has gone by the wayside. I used to go to Mai Tai bar a few days a week for pau hana in the early 2000's when I was young and hated my job and this bar was a great way to blow off steam with colleagues. I miss the old vibe but have to be ok with saying Aloha and parting ways. I've changed and so has this spot. They have security outside to check covid vax cards and IDs, and they keep a few tables open for social distancing so this creates a bottleneck of a line to go inside. The hostess asked if we wanted to sit next to the live band but I declined bc it's too loud. Like I said, I'm old now. Instead of seating the next party in line (or even asking them if they wanted the table) she just made everyone wait until a different table opened for us (luckily it wasn't long). Service is slow, unappreciative and lacking in hospitality. Note that the QR menu price is wrong. By $3! We asked a server and she dismissed it by saying, "yeah, I know but we don't have new ones". The 2 stars are for the live music which is nice for the youths and livelier auntehs. They have a nice stage area now with plexiglass to protect us all from the virus that would surely spew forth from the singer's mouth. A lot of Mai Tai's to choose from but I got that Makai Tai for something a little different. We came here during our stay in Hawaii on the recommendation of a friend. After being carded and hand stamped to be let in we had to find our own seating. This place was absolutely packed on a Sunday evening. There was literally nowhere to sit. There was live music as well so it really loud and noisy. We finally found 3 seats at one of the long tables and had to squeeze in with some other people. One being a girl directly across from us who had her dog with her. The menu was that impressive it was just basic bar food. We were debating leaving because we just weren't feeling it. Bartender was awesome, but as the only two patrons in the place, none of the 4 servers standing around greeted us or helped us at all...thats how we met the bartender. Place is cool, top of the mall, but some seriously stuck up serving staff. I got wine, husband got a lava flow... We didn't order food or appetizers. It's a pretty chill vibe with an open air seating and ample tables and sofas throughout the area. Still has a nice HH with $4.50 beers, and $10.50 pints, as well as Mai Tai's for $6.50. The service is outstanding and the servers are super friendly and very attentive. These could Possibly be the weakest drinks I've ever had. Plus they have rules on how much food you have to order. So a table of 2 has to order one dish, 3-4 ppl order 2 plates and so forth. The thing is the portion sizes are kinda lame and the food is ok but the prices are kind of high. $9 for chips and salsa or $18 for a burger. I was looking for a place in the Ala Moana area to meet a friend and found Mai Tai's at the top of Ala Moana Center. I found a great crowd to meet up, good busy but not crowded bar and tables. Beer selection was good local and world craft brews on tap, pupu menu was everything I look for, burgers and entrees for any appetite. Top shelf bourbons and whiskey but I opted for a local craft brew. Service is fast and attentive but not annoyingly pushy at all. Parking is easy on the top level but was busy enough to have to walk or keep circling for a closer space. For drinks and great casual food and bar, I'd return to Mai Tai's. One star missed as it gets too loud for any conversation, especially when the live music kicks in. read more

Haven't been here in over 15 years, so we were excited to be meeting up with former co workers for pupus and drinks at about 130pm. The place was relatively empty so we were able to find a comfortable place to sit. Our waitress, Leslie came and said hello and dropped a bunch of menus and then left. When I say left, I mean this waitress never came back. After waiting over 15 mins we looked around the room and found her talking story w a guy and enjoying laughs and conversation. When we finally got her attention, i raised my hand to call her over. She approached me and asked if I needed anything at which point I ordered a blended Mai Tai. She said ok, and took off without taking orders from anyone else in our group. I had to ask her to stop walking away and to take orders from the balance of our group. This rude treatment continued for the duration of our stay (3 hrs). It was absolutely terrible service, the food was terrible as well. We ordered a ton of pupu, which consisted of fish tacos, calamari( cut into bite size pieces) all the breading fell off of the calamari, a cheeseburger, coconut shrimp and ceviche ( composed of just cut up cocktail shrimp). No salt, fish, cilantro, lime or seasonings were added to go with the most stale, tasteless tortilla chips that Ive ever eaten. My opinion?, Pass on Mai Tais as the service and food were unsatisfactory. We are locals and couldn't even get a smile from Leslie. Never again! read more

Nice place to stop by for a quick drink with friends or to grab lunch. We stopped by at 2 and it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress Keira was very nice and quick to take our orders. The drinks were very good and strong without going overboard. My lychee margarita didn't really have a lychee flavor but it was still good. The lychee sunset was sweet and easy to drink. Good for someone that doesn't like a strong alcohol tasting drink. We also had the Teri burger and bbq cheese burger. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor. Mai Tai is one of our favorite place to chill and hang out with our friends. The music is awesome, the food is tasty, the staff are personable and friendly. We would recommend the service in Mai Tai, but man, they gotta check on their security. In the afternoon on December 20th, there was a female security responsible for watching Mai Tai's outside seating area. She is sitting way off to the side of the entry to the seating area, repeatedly talking loudly to anyone who would easily mistaken the area as a place to pass through. She has a very unpleasant demeanor about her when she eventually gets people's attention. I was physically walking in pain and she just sat their looking at me with the most toxic demeanor about her. No empathy or care. It's sad because tourists will miss out on how amazing Mai Tai is and all this place has to offer them. This paid security could get up and be pleasant towards the people passing through the area. She could say "excuse me, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but this area is being used for Mai Tai at the moment." or stand by the entry area and be friendly towards people passing by. She is getting paid to sit there and be toxic to people. Mai Tai doesn't deserve to have a security like her who gives a bad impression of their business. read more

Well I am super bummed that I didn't take any other food pics because I was tied up watching the super bowl here yesterday. We were at the mall and was looking for a place to sit and watch the super bowl after getting rejected at another spot. We walked in and found a great high top literally unobstructed view of the tv. Our waitress Ashley was amazing and never let our drinks go empty which was great. She was the real difference maker here. You cant beat the open atmosphere of this bar with great views of the pacific. For food we shared the chips and salsa, buffalo wings and ahi poke. My favorite of all was the poke. It was very fresh and loved the avocado and fresh onion it really was delicious. The wings were ok and a little too much batter for my liking but the flavors were there and were satisfying. The least favorite were the chips and salsa...the chips were kinda stale and for a little extra effort in making homemade chips ahead of time would push this to a 5 star. The salsa is loco de gallo and you can tell us freshly made and loved the fact that it was a little spicy from the jalapeños. I will have to also add that despite being super busy the wait staff here did an amazing job! They were absolutely hustling and you could tell all the customers were also having a great time. Mai Tai Bar on the third floor at the Ala Moana Centre has a great selection of Mai Tai's and great food. Service was great quick and professional. We just sat down and our server came with water and took our drink order. Ordered a Traditional Mai Tai and Mango Mai Tai, so yummy, food we ordered cheese burger and calamari.
