We came for lunch and had an exquisitely crafted omelet and the house made pickles. It was good enough to bring us back for dinner where we tried the mac and cheese and oyster pot boy. Both were delicious. And the service -- Julianna was our waitress -- was friendly and thoughtful, with a quirky sense of humor. This place is just what the doctor ordered. Main Road biscuit company makes the BEST fried chicken I have ever had in my life! It's so juicy and delicious. I have taken a 2 hour train ride to Harlem, taken 5 hour Amtrak rides, following food blogs about the country's best fried chicken spots. And Main Road Biscuit company's fried chicken blows them all out of the water. It is really good and I highly recommend it. I am surprised I never tried it before, but usually I am too busy enjoying other foods on their menu, like the shrimp and grits, which is an explosion of flavors! So good. It was thick and felt like a splurge but was not gloopy and there was a perfect amount of citrus in the sauce. I had to get their grits because they are just wonderful and though I said to myself I'd take some home, they were so good I had to finish them off. I thought long and hard about posting this, but after a few days, decided it was necessary. We stopped in here on our way back to the City. We entered the place around 9am on a Sunday, so it was still reasonably quiet. I should point out, my husband is an amputee (veteran) and we have a service dog. Our dog was vested in his official vest and properly leashed. As we stepped inside, I watched a look of panic/horror cross the face of the woman behind the counter, who I assume was the manager. She literally looked at us like we had brought a leashed lion into the premises. Despite their being plenty of open seats inside, the male host - not the manager herself - quickly informed us, 'I think we can make room for you outside,' as if at any moment our rabid beast would jump up and start tearing the place apart. I calmly, but firmly stated that the animal was a fully trained and certified service animal and, as such, we can legally sit anywhere in any restaurant, but sure, we were fine to sit outside. During this time the female manager didn't make eye contact, didn't attempt to interject and instead emitted the vibe of general icy rudeness that had started the very second we walked in. As they "found" us a table, we were told we could 'tie our dog to a post' on the gravel outside. Uhm, no, that's okay. As noted, he's a service animal and will sit, silently, where told, unlike the toddlers outside who were running around and throwing their breakfast. Our dog sat, didn't move and didn't make a sound for the 45 minutes we were there. Look - the food was good, the serving staff were really sweet and great, but this woman... she had a vibe/energy that is not okay. As the proprietor of any business, it's your responsibility to understand the laws regarding service animals and to to be both equipped yourself, and train your staff to be equipped, to ask the right questions in the right way. Just a simple and polite, 'Is that a service dog?' is all you have to say. The consternation and seeming offence at our very presence - accompanied by the total rejection of any interaction with us, while standing so close and being so judgemental, was a real disappointment, and just one in the series of micro-aggressions that accompany disability on a daily basis. Please be better. Also - as we left, we noted the banners hanging on the street recognising the veterans in the community. Maybe their dogs are more welcome? read more

The biscuits and gravy were awesome as was eggs Benedict with house cured salmon, very generous portion of salmon paired with perfectly cooked poached eggs and phenomenal holandaise sauce. I love that you can get mixed greens salad instead of hash browns if you want and the salad is very nice with a delicate dressing. The egg scramble of the day had asparagus, spinach and gruyere, w a biscuit and salad - amazing fresh flavors. We also tried the chicken sausage which was bursting with flavors and so incredibly good! Main Road has excellent coffee and the staff is super friendly. Biscuits are not supposed to be dry and stale!!! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with gravy and it was all disappointing. Everything about this place is amazing. Went with my mother for brunch and it was packed to the brim. Once we were seated and served, it wasn't hard to see why they were so busy. The food is incredible; I had the biscuit sampler and their oat pancakes with added banana and nutella. It's kind of hard to find decent breakfast joints in my corner of Long Island, so Main Road Biscuit was a refreshing visit. Side note, and this is definitely not a criticism: while the biscuit sampler was out-of-this-world, it's pretty big. My order was shared between two people and we had to take it to-go. Probably my favorite out east brunch spot! Wide variety of biscuits live up to their name - you could easily just come in for biscuits and leave full and happy. They also have a wide range or breakfast and brunch options - I enjoyed the chicken and waffles - the waffle was pretty standard but the chicken is really juicy and flavorful. Since it's opening, I've been to Main Road Biscuit at least a dozen times. It is a tried and true for brunch on the North Fork. The interior is incredibly cozy. The staff are really incredible, and as someone who goes to school in the South, the biscuits can compete! They have a lot of options and stock a lot of local goods. One thing that I have noticed over the years however is the quality of the food has definitely decreased and presentation has gotten a little sloppy. Now, I do understand in the summer months that can happen as business increases, but it is even the case during the off seasons and weekdays. Will always be a fan, but would love to see that classic quality back that put it on the map in the first place! read more

Seafood quality was fantastic. Had a whole lobster, came out moist, it touch or chewy. Rare to find a good seafood place that knows what they are doing. I really regret not complaining, I ended up paying $80 with tip to only eat the biscuit sampler we ordered. Our food came while we were still eating the sampler, and boxes were brought to us five minutes later to pack our food when we hadn't even started yet. Main Road Biscuit is a must visit! The shop is ADORABLE and the menu offers something for everyone. There was plenty of outdoor seating in the back. All food is conveniently packed in to-go containers also. I stopped in for lunch and I tried their delish mac & cheese, cobb salad (awesome gorgonzola dressing) and their honey butter chicken sandwich. It was all very filling and fresh! Also tried their lemonade and watermelon juice. We were told the watermelon drink was made with fresh North Fork watermelons. I am an avid foodie on Long Island and have visited this place previously. The food is excellent, that is truly not my issue. My family and I visited again this past weekend however and had a subpar experience at best. The service was terribly slow, which is mildly understandable because it was very busy. My main complaint came when reviewing my receipt. The bill seemed a bit high considering our orders for two adults and one child. The main meals were reasonable, but I came to see that I was charged $10 for one single pancake and an additional $2 for the 8 blueberries they threw on top that I ordered for my 1 year old daughter. This seems absurdly expensive. The full order of pancakes is $12, had I know one would have cost me the same I would've gotten the full order and brought some home. Again, the food is very good, but I will definitely think twice about visiting this place again due to this experience. Really disappointing :( read more

We had a wonderful waitress and she was a doll. I ordered the Benedict with house made gravlox or cured salmon. What I received was a beautiful plate, perfect egg, delectable biscuit, bright Hollandaise sauce and raw salmon that was passed off for "cured". I don't think it was cured enough time. I hate to write a bad review bc I know all the hard work and time that restaurants go through to get their menu out and please every one of their customers.
