My nails do not look like the ombré i wanted, all the fingers looks messy and darker from each other. i also paid 55 for this and left mid way in due to treatment and the way the nails looked. I had a great experience at Mai's Nails! I made an appointment through Yelp about a week before for a gel manicure at 2:00 on a Thursday. I got there a few minutes early but was greeted warmly and taken right away. They have a ton of color selections for gel polish. Kim was my nail technician and she was wonderful. She answered all my questions about their other services and she was so sweet. I loved the way she took her time shaping my nails and the hand/arm massage. I decided to check out this salon because I had moved to the area. I have always struggled with finding a salon that does dip and nail designs. I am so glad that I came here!! The owner is super sweet! There is a huge collection of nail dip colors. I have given them multiple challenges on nail designs and they nail it each time!!! They pay close attention to details and I love how they shape my nails. For dip and design I usually pay about $45 which is a great price for their quality of work. My nails can last me about 3 to 4 weeks with no broken nails or chips!!! I highly recommend that you come try them out and if you have never done dip try it because it is a game changer!!! read more

The first time I went here, Lynn assured me over the phone that I could squeeze a fill in on my lunch break in time. I arrived only to find out she took another customer, and wanted me to wait 30 minutes. I attempted another time a few weeks ago, as the salon is right up the street from my office. I had an appointment and walked in to see Lynn working on removing the gel on another customer.. first thought was oh no, here we go again.. but she tended to me and I and absolutely loved my birthday nails! I was so excited to have found my new nail tech (I enjoy being a regular.. my last tech moved!) I end up going back only to be extremely disappointed. I walked in 5 minutes early for my appointment, said hello to Lynn with zero response and a super dirty glare. I felt the negative energy the entire time and made me super uncomfortable. A few people walked in and she greeted them with a joyful hello and it just didn't seem right to me. I tried to make small talk and even extend a compliment on how much I loved my last set and she just went back to talking to colleagues with no response to me. One of my nails was crooked due to being over-filed and instead of listening, she insisted it was straight on her side. After that it seemed like there was no cure to how my nails turned out, and that she wanted to be done ASAP. I heard Lynn total another customers price for gel pedi and fill with gel, I calculated what I was charged the last time for the same exact service and it was almost $10 more. Seemed very suspicious and wrong. Will not be returning after the service I had. Super unhappy. read more

Previously, I went to a small family owned salon in North County for the last 15 years. Saw the same ladies every time, had my routine locked in and dialed in and it was always spectacular and affordable. I ended up moving to Serra Mesa a few years ago and last year, commuting to my old salon every two weeks just to get my nails done became more than I was willing to commit to and slowly began the hunt for a new salon. I had resigned myself to the fact I was probably going to have to compromise on what I was willing to pay or give up the quality of the ervices was when I found Mai's Nails in my backyard on a whim when desperately needing a pedicure one day. I was shocked to get my usual dip nails and gel pedicure and paying under $100 before tipping, just like my old salon! Mai's Nails has quickly become my new go-to salon; with my manicures consistently getting me compliments at work on how well done they are. Lynn and her team are very efficient and polite, working quickly and ensuring that each manicure and pedicure is exceptional and consistent. I am so disappointed. I usually love this place but today they really Did not do a good job. My nails are crooked and they're lifted. So ugly. I asked for a coffin and she gave me duck looking nails. So so so disappointed. I had such high hopes, last time i was there i had such a cute set. when i asked for a discount because she nicked me and made me bleed she said she would give me TWO DOLLARS off and she didn't even do that lol Still $55 ... I go to this salon from time to time due to the location, it's close to my job. I can call ahead the same day and get my nails done on my lunch hour. Ann normally helps me and she is great! Fast and skillful. Everyone there is friendly and talented. It has been remodeled since my last visit which is nice. New artwork and paint, new pedicure chairs as well. First time going to nail salon since Covid and booked an appointment on a Friday at 4:30pm and had to wait for half an hour to be seen. My manicure was horrible got cut on every single finger. Walked out with blood, bandages, and pain. I had to put alcohol and peroxide and soak my hands just to make sure I won't get an infection. I asked while I was being offered if it was too late to not do gel because I saw a clear coat was already on my nails and was told no. I clarified no gel because it's an additional 17 dollars. While paying I was told my total included gel after I said I did not want gel. How dare you assume we can't afford a nail salon when i said my (13 yr old) daughter was saving HER own money to pay for it herself. I would've gladly paid but she wanted to do it on her own. My biggest regret was allowing her to come here. And NO YOU GUYS DID NOT ASK HER NUMEROUS TIMES, my daughter said three to four times which one she wanted and the nail tech STILL kept trying to get her to use the light bubblegum pink shade. Even AFTER, my daughter said she liked another color! Don't lie!!! Also, I know how much it is for a gel change color, I was trying to give YOU the chance to make it right and not continue to overcharge. And LIKE I SAID in my first review, I TOLD THE MAN AND THE LADY IT WAS A FRENCH MANICURE AND THEY STILL TOLD ME IT WAS $45. Your work isn't worth the extra $$, we should've just stuck to my higher end nail salon. Oh, AND the customer who got in WAS A WALK IN when me and another lady were waiting for a while already so you don't make any sense (because you're lying). At first, the nail shop was your average place, nothing bad, but nothing too special either. However, now under new management, they are updating their salon look, their techniques, the industry trends and services. For example, a spa pedicure goes for $25, and I know the instant you hear that, you think overpriced, right? Well, you're mistaken. Their spa pedicure price includes the callus remover and spa sea salt. They are trying to avoid the "5 dollar more, 7 dollar more," method and make it an enjoyable experience. ALSO-- huge plus, they will now be serving mimosas on the weekend! Talk about a girl's sunday funday. If you've had a bad experience in the past, I recommend giving Mai's Nails another shot.
