My experience at Mai's Nails was horrible and ended in literal tears!!! . I have not got my nails done in over 2 1/2 years because my job does not allow it. I am going on a two week vacation and thought that it would be fun to pamper myself and get a cute set of nails, I showed her my inspiration picture, She said that she could not do lifted/3d acrylic but that she could do the flower/design so I said that's totally fine. Let's do it, I asked for a different shape than the picture you see in the photos the photos. I felt that the French tip was too thick and it was not crisp. It was more cloudy and uneven than I wanted. Then we got to the flower and she couldn't do the flower that I had wanted so I said that we could just leave it without the flower, even though I really wanted it and was the whole point of the design she said she didn't have the right brushes for it even though she said that she could do it at the beginning of the service. she was on hold with somebody when she started the service and put it on speakerphone as soon as they answered she told me to hold on and walked outside for about five minutes came back in still on the phone and was doing that throughout my whole service. I understand being a business owner, but I'm paying for a service and I would like to have attention put on my set I am paying for , I went back the next day because I was not happy with the set that I had received and she proceeded to tell me she was going to charge me AGAIN so I said I would not like to be charged. She said that this is my fault for picking that color instead of white because that's how it's always gonna look with color. I said well you did not tell me that at the beginning of the service she said well it's still your fault for not knowing so I said can I have them removed and be refunded, and she proceeded to yell at me in front of everyone in the salon and tell me that I cannot get them removed or a refund, She said not to blame her for what I chose so I walked out. Needless to say I will not be returning to this salon and will be reporting. This is not the way anyone should run their business. read more

So this is what I asked for vs. what I got. Before the man even started my nails I showed two nail technicians what I wanted prior. No one said anything about it and everyone continued to do what they were doing. So the man that started on my nails starts working but 5 minutes in just abruptly gets up and walks about into the parking lot without breathing a word. I'm assuming what was the owner of the store, said she would talk to him about it when I just causally brought it up. However, he didn't again while not saying anything. As he comes back to finish doing my nails, everything time I ask him something someone else has to come over the essentially "monitor" him. He over filed my nails, cut my finger, and more importantly wasn't really caring when he was hurting me. As he started to focus more on the shape he wasn't really making it coffin shape like I wanted, but he was already taking so long that I kind of stopped caring. Then as we were finally wrapping up and doing the design apparently no one in the shop knew how to do just a simple nail design, so I ended up telling them to just do any nail design with included both purples. The woman who ended up doing my design kept wanting to put silver on my nails even though I told her no twice, and then she wasn't really listening about how to add purple dots. I've never been just frustrated over a design but there you go. To put the cherry on top, me and my friend got there at 3:15 on a Monday and left at 6:15. Coming here made my head hurt.... and I still didn't get what I wanted. read more

Was desperately finding a nail place with my friends and ended up walking into this one. Honestly I'm glad because Mai and her coworkers are extremely nice and sweet. They took great care and was patient in doing our nails. All their equipment are up to date and loved having AC because it was a hot day. By far the best experience in a nail salon to date! This is the first time i've gotten my nails done since I moved to san diego and I think I found my go to! Lynn was very nice and got to us soon after we arrived-- she worked on my friend's nails and I was taken care of by another tech. I really wish I was able to remember her name because she did a great job-- every other place i've gotten acrylics at has had at least one thing go wrong, but there was so much attention to detail and she took a much more careful approach in each step than my past techs have. I have dermatilomania which leads me to bite my nails pick the skin on my hands and makes finding a good salon that much harder for me. At no point throughout the process did my fingers hurt or my skin break. Plus the fact that my nail beds are pretty small and hard to work with just makes it that much more impressive. Price is also extremely reasonable for the level of service you're getting, I only had to pay 45$ for a set of acrylics with gel polish when I've seen most other salons charge at least a minimum of 55$ for ANY acrylics. Would 100% recommend if you're looking to get your nails done in the area! read more

I've been here twice and had my nails done by Lynn and Tina. Both ladies did my nails beautifully and had no issues with chipping or lifting, even 3 weeks after doing my nails. I look for 5 things in a nail salon- transparency in pricing, not too painful, if they look good, if they last- and now safety. This place didn't ask me if I wanted gel color- they lasted a long time- and I didn't specify- but I appreciate any upcharge being clarified. My total was $40 - not a bad price for what I got- but double what I expected. My hands hurt so bad after Nancy grabbed, turned and squeezed my hand and fingers I had to take a aspirin- which didn't help much they hurt for 3 days. They looked nice- except I didn't understand when she said thick or thin the second time she meant the depth of the white for a french manicure- I said thick meaning the the thickness of the nails- so when I pointed out there was too much white she wiped it- which with the gel left a gap between the white and pink... weird. They lasted a long time- both the nails and the color. Safety wise- I waited for the outside table- but after finishing my acrylic they asked me to go inside for color- I agreed because there were just us 2 and 2 more workers, but after awhile more customers arrived, and more workers and I wasn't comfortable- but everyone wore masks. This place is very unprofessional, and when you let them know what you want they either ignore your choice or push the narrative. The way you also respond to your customers on this platform definitely shows and proves you have a lack of professionalism and customer service. My issue was he took AN HOUR AND 20 MINUTES for one acrylic set, and he didn't even get paint them because I had to leave for work. Previous nail techs I've gone to only take around 40-45 minutes at most, so definitely don't come if your on a time crunch. Nice employees, slow service. I absolutely LOVE this nail salon! I had gone into Happy Nails in Fashion Valley last night and they Butchered my Nails and design and did a terrible job. I called Lynn at 6:55 (5 minutes before they were scheduled to close) and asked if they could just do a couple snow flakes for me to try and make them a little better and she said come on it. ** NEW MANAGEMENT ** As a new customer on a Friday afternoon around lunchtime I was greeted with a smile and had no wait time. The Salon looks very clean and professional and the new owner Lynn and her husband are both very friendly. I was offered a glass of wine during my service with a choice of red or white which was great for a relaxing Friday experience. I came in for a full set of acrylics, long, coffin shaped, with a French manicure and had a few broken natural nails when I came in that needed tips. Lynn took her time, paid attention to detail making sure I was satisfied with the shape and paint, and really had a nice conversation with me which in some places just doesn't happen or they seem disingenuous. She used high quality acrylic powder that's a lovely pink shade to really make your nails look healthy and natural even without polish. I paid $32 for my full set with regular polish with a 10% off discount just for being a new customer. All in all it was a great experience and I look forward to returning to try all the new instyle products like the plethora of dip powder selections Lynn now offers at the salon. I got a gel refill & she did such a great job and was really fast too. She had so many color selections & I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The chairs were extremely comfortable, the staff was friendly, and everything was very clean and sanitary. I am very picky about where I get my nails done because I've had a lot of bad experiences regarding painful / bad practices, negligence, unfriendly staff, etc the list really does goes on. Came in for an acrylic fill. Nails turned out really nice but the process was pretty painful. The previous polish was removed with a drill and kept touching my skin and burning it. More drilling later was done too close to my cuticles and hurt those as well. Because the skin around my nails was raw at this point, the acetone during the painting process burned my skin. I was also told on the phone prior to my appointment that the fill would only be $30, later to find out after the process was already done that I was being charged $38. I just moved to the area and had hope for a new salon but I don't believe I will be returning unfortunately. Not worth the painful experience! read more

I waslooking for a Nail Salon close to my house that did powder dip, since my it had been a while since I'd had them done . My regular place is a little far for me to drive in rush hour traffic.
