We first tried this restaurant years ago during Houston Restaurant Week, and it quickly became one of our go-to brunch apots. Before we moved away, we would visit a few times a year, especially for their soufflés. Now that we're back in town, it felt natural to return. My professor and his wife are also fans, so we decided to meet here for brunch and to celebrate my husband's birthday! They currently offer a fairly affordable brunch menu: French Frugal Feast.We ordered the pork carnitas dish, which was unfortunately very dry and lacked flavor. The only standout on my plate was the potatoes. The ceviche was just okay. We ended the meal with a soufflé, while my professor opted for a cheesecake. Service, however, was excellent. Our server was very attentive, refilling water, tea, and Diet Coke every 10 minutes or so. That said, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday around noon. I remember it being packed during weekend brunch in the past. Of course, a lot has changed since the pandemic, and the cold, rainy weather that day may have played a role. Overall, while the service and ambience remain good, the food quality--unfortunately have declined significantly compared to our previous visits. Free parking is a plus.
The restaurant is lovely, inside is beautiful, outdoor seating on the patio was perfect for the weather yesterday, the staff was great. Server was great as well. Not sure if I expected too much or if my expectations were off . So keep that in mind. The food was not by any means bad but it was not exceptional. The escargot was beautiful and delicious, empanadas were great, we had the $39 special 2 items ; app and entree or entree and dessert Duck Steak Creme brûlée
My friends and I visited Maison Pucha Bistro for Houston Restaurant Week, and while we had high hopes, the experience turned out to be hit-or-miss. We started with the Cucumber & Watermelon Gazpacho, Shrimp Ceviche, and Wagyu Beef Empanadas--and this was by far the best part of the meal. The gazpacho and ceviche were refreshing, well-balanced, and flavorful. The beef empanadas were rich, savory, and packed with flavor. We were genuinely excited for what was to come. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't live up to the appetizers. -Eggs Benedict: A classic dish done... a bit too plainly. It wasn't bad, but the "seasonal vegetables" on the plate felt like an afterthought--more garnish than actual side. -Trout Almondine: The fish itself lacked seasoning and felt underwhelming overall. -Chicken & Waffle: One of the most disappointing dishes. The waffle was forgettable and the chicken was dry, with a presentation that felt flat. -Duck Confit à L'Orange: This had potential, but sadly the duck leg was overcooked and ended up dry. As for the dessert we tried the Crêpe à L'Orange, Chocolate Moelleux, and Vanilla Crème Caramel. The desserts were passable, but not memorable. The Chocolate Moelleux, which we expected to be a lava cake, had no molten center--which was a letdown. The service was generally good, but the host stand was disorganized. Even though we had a reservation and arrived early, we weren't seated until five minutes after our reserved time with no communication as to why we weren't being seated. The ambiance had a charming French bistro vibe, we even noticed French music playing outside. Inside, the music was likely the same, but difficult to hear over the general noise--not overwhelming, but enough to lose the mood. Lastly, 2 out of 3 bathroom stalls were out of order, which felt like a detail that shouldn't be overlooked in a nice restaurant. Overall, this place has potential, especially based on the appetizers--but the entrées and desserts need refinement to match the ambiance and concept. I'd consider returning if the menu is reworked, but for now, it feels more style than substance.
Deviled eggs were served with small chunks of crispy bread with smudges of mustard and balsamic vinegar. The bread itself was topped with some cream cheese and capers, and I really liked dipping one chunk of bread in the mustard, then dipping another chunk in balsamic, etc. The steak frites (the steak was a bit unsalted, but I asked for a salt shaker to remedy this) was served with some buttery sauce and ketchup. The fries are just the right amount of crispy, and the steak is juicy. And I was able to get both the appetizer and the entree for $29. Considering that the steak frites by itself was listed as $36, this is an amazing deal. This is a great place to stop especially during a weekday afternoon. At the time I was seated, I was literally the only customer in the building. You probably don't need to reserve at this time, but weekends may be a different story.
Great flavors! I came here to try the HRW lunch with my friends on a weekday. Parking: Some other reviews mentioned valet parking, but no one else was out front to help us park. The lot in the back was full and we spent a lot of time trying to park, but eventually found some street parking a few blocks away. I do think the streets near the restaurant also allow parking during the daytime which we didn't realize. Service: The wait for our order to be taken and dishes to come out took a long time but otherwise no complaints. Ambiance: A bit too loud for my liking and everyone was clustered in one area. Food (HRW $25 lunch): - shrimp ceviche appetizer - delicious, nothing too unique, I wish bigger portion (2.5 shrimps, only 3 plantain chips) - duck confit a l'orange entree - duck was tender and skin perfectly crispy, good size of leg, the sauce was perfectly sweet and savory - Trout almondine entree - decent size, enjoyed the refreshing flavors, firm meat - steak frites (+18) - this was not worth it, tiny portion, the outer part of the steak too well done, and I'm not a fan of precut steak because it cools too fast - lemon pie - best dessert we had, lightweight and not too sweet - chocolate lava cake - very very decadent, only for dark chocolate lovers - vanilla flan - had a lovely citrus flavor (not described in the menu)
We came here a year ago for Restaurant Week and it was so good that we decided to come back this year. It did not disappoint! We have a group of eight people, and they sat in the beautiful private dining room, which was a nice surprise! I ordered their shrimp ceviche, classic eggs Benedict and crepes a l'orange. Everything was perfect! They have some really great mimosa options so I chose the Guava Mimosa which I had not seen anywhere else. Our server was fantastic, he checked in on us multiple times without being pushy and had a great attitude! It is important to note that it you have a group larger than 5 people, they will not split the bill but this is clearly listed on their menu. Needless to say, I will be back!
Another challenging review. Most of the food was good, but the service and penny pinching were not. Went with a friend for Houston Restaurants Week 2024 on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Made a reservation, but that was not really necessary. The restaurant was empty. Just a couple of groups besides ours. We started with the baked mushroom timbale. Thought that it would be warm as it was baked, but it was cold. Quite cold. Like maybe it had been sitting around for a while. Took a few bites and that was it. We both left most of it on our plate. Our waiter asked if we liked it, but then he didn't even ask for our full response. He did bring us what we thought was a complimentary basket of bread. It was not. For the main course, the trout almondine was a classic French dish that was executed well. Half of an Idaho trout with seasonal vegetables and a caper almond lemon butter sauce. Delicious. My friend asked for hot sauce which was brought to the table after we finished this course. For dessert, the crepes a l'orange were very good. My friend got the soufflé which, you guessed it, had an upcharge of $9. The perfect finish to a very odd meal. Should have read the reviews and would have been less surprised at the lack of service and the unexpected upcharges. Had to keep asking for water. Was charged for the bread, extra for the dessert (which was on the menu) but was also charged extra for a small amount of hot sauce that came after we basically finished our meal. Did the waiter think that we wanted hot sauce with our soufflé?? A few hours later, my stomach was quite upset. I think that it was the mushroom timbale that we had tried express to the waiter seemed to be a bit off that day. And even odder, he followed us to our parked car to ask us more questions after we left the restaurant. Where was he during the meal? Since I wanted to respond to his questions, I did call back and spoke to a hostess a few days later to voice my concerns. Left a message with hostess. The manager never called me back. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful. Parking is available behind the restaurant, but was not clearly marked. The music did not match the ambiance of a French restaurant, but definitely fit the vibe of an unusual afternoon for lunch.
We dropped in for dinner on Wednesday. I was craving French food and had been wanting to give it a try. We arrived at 7:30 PM and was seated after a few minutes of waiting, without reservations. I love the decor, warm earth tones with crystal chandeliers throughout. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Houston Restaurant Week menu priced at $39 so decided to order from that set. We ordered: * cocktail oysters - very heavily dressed with shrimp and octopus, almost thought they forgot to include the oyster until I got to the bottom of the shell. Felt this combination of dressing and oyster didn't go well together. I would have liked it separately, like as a ceviche and oysters on a half shell. * escargots - well presented, very good. The bread was too chewy, didn't go well with this dish. * steak frites - tastes great with the bearnaise sauce. Steak was smaller than preference but cooked to the right temperature at medium rare. Love the French fries, crispy. * short ribs - very tender and so delicious with the wine demi-glace. All the accompaniments were paired well. * chocolate molleaux - didn't know what to expect and happy it was like a lava cake. Served warm and not too sweet, one of my favorite desserts that I've had lately. * vanilla crème caramel - tastes less sweet than most flan I have had but still very good. The bar is pretty small, not sure I would attempt to come here for happy hour since it's only accommodated at the bar. Valet is $8 and the area lacks parking otherwise. So unless you take a rideshare, your only option is to valet as I could not spot any other free self-parking lot. I can't wait to come back and try some of their other food from the menu.
Went to Maison Pucha Bistro on a Saturday as we wanted raw oysters at a good price. Problem occurred as they had no gulf coast oysters so we got 2 dozen of the oysters in stock which they were fine but they are smaller. We sat in the bar area so that we could get HH prices. Our waiter was a bit pushy and was trying hard to get us to up purchase items. Overall it's a nice place to go get a few drinks and some oysters. Not thrilled with other items on HH menu.
So I came in Valentine's Day so my assessment may not be the most accurate. But I had a really great time with food that was very good. Crab fingers was my favorite with a beurreblanc type sauce that absolutely was impressive. So creamy and yet light. Flavorful and elegant. Escargot was light and buttery. Hint of garlic and herbs enough to make you go for another. No lingering snail flavor . Great job. Steak and frites and bouillabaisse was great. Steak was soft and cooked perfectly. Fries weren't the meatiest fries but crunchy. Bouillabase was light and refreshing with loads of seafoood. I loved the sear on the scallops, shrimp, etc. it was definitely needed with a light based soup. Great dinner. Great service.
We adored our HRW brunch here. We stopped by in August to make avail of their delicious brunch menu while also supporting the Houston Food Bank! Our waiter was kind and attentive, and explained some of his favorites on the menu. We ordered similarly and were glad we did! We decided on the shrimp ceviche and beef empanadas (which cost extra) to start off. The ceviche was light, tangy and tasty! I enjoyed the pairing with the plantain chips. The beef empanadas were one of the highlights of our morning. The flakiness of the crust was perfect, and the meat inside was so well seasoned! Next, we opted for the croque madame and chicken & waffle. The croque madame was also a winner - the egg pairing with the sandwich was so delicious, and the textures were amazing! We also enjoyed the side salad. I had ordered the chicken & waffle to get something on the sweet side and was not as enthused by this one. It was a bit bland in presentation, especially compared to the croque madame. I only wish they could have had a few more sweet offerings for entrees as part of the HRW menu. Our desserts were lovely - we both opted for the chocolate moelleux as we could not bear sharing! It's a good thing we did that, as they were so rich and chocolatey that we promptly polished them off. I loved how beautiful the restaurant was, with such pleasant ambient lighting. It is certainly popular - we were glad we made a reservation as it filled up quickly. Our server was also wonderful. I would love to come back and try their dinner menu!
Loved the service, the drink menu and above all the titanic sea food tower that features on their Sunday and Wednesday spl ! Shrimp ceviche, mussels , oysters, friend shrimp , friend fish , seasoned rice banana chips with tostones and fresh pico de gallo . Great value for money, amazing presentation, awesome taste The ambience with the chandeliers and comfortable seating is the op notch beautiful . Will definitely visit again
Maison Pucha Bistro is fully entrenched as one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. I stopped by on a Monday for my mom's birthday for dinner. We sat outside on their patio. They have self-parking in the back and we didn't have any trouble finding a spot. As you can tell from the name, Maison Pucha is a French restaurant with a twist as the chef is Ecuadorian. As a result, you'll see French dishes with some Latin flair. It's an interesting mix. It's a fancy restaurant but well worth it. It's high up on Allison Cook's Top Restaurants. As our city's leading food critic, her yearly list is always something I check out. We started off with some cocktails which set an awesome first impression. The one I got came in a sphere that was suspended in air and held up by a handle. Talk about presentation! From there, we shared some gruyere and parmesan puffs. At $2 a pop, they make for addictive mini appetizers. You get a discount if you order a half dozen. For my main dish, I had the steak frites, a classic French dish, and it was done perfectly. The steak was cooked just right and oozing with flavor. The fries were well seasoned and had some spice to them that was not French but an example of the Latin flair. With the dipping sauce, it was a perfect entree. Maison Pucha is known for its dessert souffles so we couldn't pass up on that. The vanilla and chocolate souffle tastes just as good as it looks. With its creme anglaise and ice cream, you'll be licking the plate. They were nice enough to gift us some complimentary chocolates and truffles along with a rendition of happy birthday. Even if you're not coming for a full meal, sit by the bar, have a cocktail and order a dessert souffle. You'll thank me later. read more
Nice place to have brunch. Service was good nothing special. Presentation of the dishes and food quality was excellent. Pricier side of cost, but I'm mainly here for the taste and if it's not worth it then it would be mentioned. Great place to try once for a brunch with friends. read more

My friends and I are always on the hunt for good oyster happy hours. Maison Pucha did not disappoint! 75 cents for gulf oysters and 1.50 for east coast...it's hard finding that kind of deal anywhere. Our drinks--beso de primavera involved a habanero-infused tequila that definitely had a good kick to it but refreshing at the same time. The Heights Garden Club was gin with lime juice and cucumber. Both drinks dangerously delicious. For appetizers, we ordered empanadas (good but hardly any meat) , Ecuadorian shrimp ceviche (fresh) , I can't remember the name of the sausage entree but skip it. It was super dry. The BEST appetizer was the Parmesan truffle fries. Some places have an underwhelming truffle flavor but this did not disappoint. Dessert--I'm not a sweets kind of person usually but these were SO delicious. We had to get their most popular, the soufflé. if you love chocolate, this was super decadent but the cream provided a nice balance. The Astrodome was our favorite! Ecuadorian chocolate covered in guava mousse with a side of blackberry sorbet. Perfect balance of tart and sweet. Not too heavy either. TL; DR---if you love good oysters and cocktails, go! I came here during Houston Restaurant Week and had a great experience! The staff was welcoming and I enjoyed my time here greatly. Especially during HRW, the value is here! The portions are large and flavors very creative. I can tell a lot of thought went into how each dish is prepared. Props to the team for consistency in their dishes too - my sister and I ordered a few of the same items individually and they looked essentially identical. I had the following items off the menu: the Beef Empanadas, the Pork & Grits, as well as the Astrodome dessert to finish everything off. The sauce for the empanadas really made the flavors pop and for the entree I could not believe how tender the pork was. It fell off the bone with the gentlest touch and then grits it sat on top of was soo buttery. While all dishes were fantastic, I actually enjoyed the desert the most. It was aesthetic, well plated and very balanced with the sorbet, fruit and mouse. I would definitely recommend checking out this place! read more
There's nothing like consistency to instill faith in an establishment. Besides the occasional fly (which inevitably makes an appearance with the meal--and despite which, they still deserve the full five), Maison Pucha delivers. Every stinking time. It's a bonus to come during HRW: three courses of satisfaction through and through. You can't go wrong: the empanadas, the watermelon salad, the ceviche...you won't regret any of your life choices when you choose from their delicious appetizer sampling's. As for the main course, the eggs Benedict or the French toast will serve you well. Don't forget the soufflé for dessert and a French cocktail. Enjoy the ambiance and bon appetit! read more
My first time trying Maison Pucha was at Houston Menu of Menus a couple of years back and ever since then I had been meaning to try it. Seems like most of the restaurants I got to try during the middle of the pandemic were the ones that I had put on my to-try list. And I am so glad that I got to come here. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us warmly and took us to our seats. After ordering our drinks there was some confusion as the hostess had brought us the outdated menu. Since this was a while back I don't exactly remember what drink wasn't available and what drink I ended up ordering but I guess it wasn't all that memorable after all. Thankfully, it all gets better from here onward. This is what I ordered: shrimp ceviche, duck a'lorange, and the soufflé. The Ecuadorian shrimp ceviche was a perfect balance of acid and heat. The chips that came with it were surprisingly my favorite part. The crunchy texture really helped act as a vehicle for the several ingredients atop the shrimp and floating in the liquid. I was asked how I wanted the duck cooked and I replied with however the chef recommends it. I am glad that I did that because the chef sure knows what he's doing. While the duck tasted good, all the accompaniments tasted even better. But honestly the star of the show for me was the soufflé. The soufflé has risen perfectly before they bring it out dusted with powdered sugar. Upon landing in front of you, the heart shape is all you can notice rising out of the ramekin. Then the server asks you permission on if they can serve it to you like they do at Maison Pucha and honestly at this my brain goes into full on lady gaga mode and starts to play "Babylon" - serve it ancient city style. So naturally my response is, "yes, please." And now the total act of defilement (and I do use the term with lots of liberty) because they hollow out the soufflé in the middle and put in more crème anglaise inside and then you are left with the fully ready to eat soufflé. And let me tell you - it was worth every single bite. If you haven't gone to Maison Pucha, I recommend everyone to go, and if you loved it as much as I did - then you HAVE to go back!!! read more

Let me start by saying the ambiance so chic! Decor amazing chandeliers lighted candles on the table dark date night vibes for sure. I'll be honest I was skeptical at first from other reviews and I went with a large party of 19 however after being seated and ordering a fabulous drink "Over the Moon" I was surely well on the moon and in bliss the perfect mix of rum with passion fruit liqueur and you can ask for it not to be sweet. Food I asked for medium well it was well done but that's ok the sauce paired with the mashed potatoes made up for it. They had a special and we got the surf and turf cooked to order and cooked to perfection the seasoning and herbs the roasted potatoes (never boiled I asked!) and the shot cart that comes to the table..be careful! Service great had a tad hiccup but it was corrected & for short staff and a last minute party Israel did a good job! He was also was extremely knowledgeable every ingredient how things were made and he mentioned happy hour on Thursdays to come back! Although I'm not close to come back that soon you all make sure to go and show them love and the manger some love! After reading the history of this amazing restaurant owned and operated by 3 brothers I love it even more! I'm a stickler for family operated things love makes everything taste so much better! read more
So we came for happy hour and had the intention of only trying items off the happy hour menu. The drinks pictured, "over the mood" and "Smokey berry martini" were not off the happy hour menu however I saw them on ig, and I had to order them; they were sooooo good! I thought the salmon, rib, and truffle fries were all tasty, but the portions were kinda small, but it's happy hour so that's expected? Idk. I thought the ceviche needed some flavor. It was decent not the best ceviche I've ever had but not the worst. Overall the service was great and the menu had great options to choose from. I would come back! read more

Celebrated my 40th birthday here with some of my best girlfriends. Made reservations for a group of 10, weeks in advance. Everything was set up & ready for my guests when they arrived (I had to be fashionably late of course) The ambiance was just right: not too casual, not to stiff. Yet great for eating flavorful food with friends. I had the pork shank, waiter asked if I needed a knife, I was like nope, cause the meat just fell off the bone. I got to meet one of the owners/brothers Christian. He was very hospitable to us, and I received a personalized sized of champs *clink clink clink* poured by him. There was some area of growth, took a looooong time for our waiter to take our drink & food order. Initially we didn't recognize b/c we were all busy chatting. And then when the bill came that that was a hotttttt mess. I told all my guests to bring cash, no split checks (pet peeve of mine with large groups). All my girls complied cause we're professionals right....our waiter ended up tryna split everyone's items from one huge receipt . That took forever. He would take some cash & come back & try to take more but wasn't crossing it off the receipt, so I think we ended up paying for several items twice. Needless to say with that long drawn out process we shut the restaurant down....Literally. He later told us he was 60yrs old and nearing retirement so we gave him a pass, cause we were just ready to goooo. Besides those hiccups everything was great. No Valet on duty, but relatively easy parking in the back. Promptly greeted and seated in their private wine room which was a bit dark, but gorgeous. Service was impeccable and attentive. The drink presentation was very entertaining to say the least. My "Goodfella" was a twist on an Old Fashioned. Tasty but a bit on the weak side. Mussels appetizer was tasty and plentiful. Came with fries that were yummy and addictive. Goat Cheese salad was a party in my mouth. I love duck, usually extra crispy Peking Duck.....went for the Orange Duck. It was tasty but a bit tough and fatty skin was not cooked hard enough to want to eat. This was a miss for me. Desserts were a big hit all around. 4 out of 5, to be fair we were VIP guests and I would need to go back again as a "civilian" and see if the level of service was the same. Also the duck was a bit disappointing. Overall we had a great experience and would put this place on my rotation if I lived in the area. read more

I had a delicious meal and a wonderful experience last night at Maison Pucha. Valet only on Saturday and we also had reservations (I would recommend reservations). We received excellent service from multiple people on staff- from the start while dropping off my vehicle at valet to our super helpful and friendly waiter Michael and the kind + professional hostess. I felt really welcomed throughout my visit. Drinks: Lychee Martini -- YESSSS so good. Perfectly sweet. I will definitely return to try some other cocktails but would absolutely order this again as well. A lot of their cocktails are also just pleasing to the eye/ photo-worthy. Appetizer: I was really hungry so it helped that their food was also delicious! I started with the popular empanadas (according to the reviews) and was so glad I did! Although a bit small in serving size, it tasted fresh and each bite was flavorful due to the well thought out garnishes. I'd probably order this again during a future visit although our waiter recommends the crab cakes too. Main dish: due to the fantastic + super helpful waiter & chef, I was able to order a custom/market catch seafood dish which was cooked to perfection. I nearly cleaned out my plate, it was so good. I had fish topped with shrimp and crab (and other tasting toppings in a sauce that included nuts) paired with veggies and mashed potatoes. Loved it (great portion) but was also a bit $$$. Dessert: You must try the souffle. You must! Texture and flavour was delicious, it's an experience you just gotta try. It's like... a french bakery version of a molten chocolate cake (but totally different of course lol), if that makes any sense. Overall: excellent service, lovely atmosphere, and great tasting food. Was beyond excited to try this place for HRW 2020. Ordered lunch here for takeout. Got the CC Hummus Terrine for the appetizer, steak frites (additional $5 charge), and the crepes a l'orange. Total came out to be almost $30. CC hummus terrine was mediocre at best. Think a very thin sliver of a cold cut sandwich. It's not something I would order again, but still okay. Came with a handful of arugula on the side. The steak frites is what made this a 1 star review. Don't let the zoomed in photos fool you. The portions were tiny; it was like 5-6 finger length strips/chunks & I have very small fingers. I don't eat very much to begin with but I could not believe this is what costed me the extra fee. I had mine done medium well, but it was so overcooked & dry, it was like chewing on rubber. The fries that came alongside it were seasoned way too heavily & extremely salty. This was a poorly done entree, and I have had better steak frites elsewhere without being charged extra for such a lackluster experience. To top it off, the crepes a l'orange, which was advertised as a "vanilla grand marnier cream, orange segments and sauce" came with no sauce or cream at all, and 2 tiny pieces of tangerines. I ate the crepe dry. Though HRW gives you the opportunity to try menu items outside your comfort zone at good prices, I feel disappointed and cheated at my experience here. Our 2nd choice of Houston Restaurant weeks menus. Sooo different than our first one(see my previous review) . Ambiance: Nice! Service: Great Food: Awesome. Ok, let start ! We had a reservation and we were sitting right away.(LUNCH MENU) They provided us with the HRW menus plus a "Drinks Special"that they were offering for lunch. Drinks: I had MPB''Gin & Tonic (gin, butterfly pea flavor extract, lime juice , juniper berry) It was great!. Hubby got a Cabernet. Appetizers: Husband: Savory Mushroom Timbale : So flavorful and delicious. Me: Shrimp Ceviche , I can go back only for this ceviche. Very fresh and with a kick. Definitely a comfort food item. Desserts: Ille flotante for husband. So smooth and delicate compared to others we have tried. Me: Chocolate and Guava mousse. Very good, a little too much guava for my taste. Very good chocolate quality. Presentation of food: A+. In this restaurant food taste as good as it looks! Besides all that I mentioned above, I like the idea that this restaurant went the extra mile to attract customers during HRW by, not only including some items from their regular menu in the HRW menu, but also to offer a " Special drink menu " and offer excellent service. Easy to find (complimentary parking) classy and chic inside. Perfect for a date night or group outing. They have a big room that can fit up to 16 people surrounded by wines. However the server was alright, and I know it's hard to handle a big party but he was kinda rude and nonchalant. The food tasted basic; Duck breast (4/5) Foie gras (2.5/5) Trout (3/5) Shrimp ceviche (3/5) Overall, food is alright but a very nice restaurant. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Would highly recommend Maison Pucha Bistro for happy hour! HH is Tues-Sun from 3-7pm offering a variety of appetizers and drinks for $7. During the happy hour they also have East Coast ($1.50 each) and Gulf coast (0.75 cents each) oysters as well. The mac & cheese frites were SO good. They were essentially like fried mozzarella sticks, but with macaroni inside instead of mozzarella *chefs kiss*. The service was very attentive and friendly. We came here for our anniversary and loved everything about it so when I saw their post about Thanksgiving take-out, I jumped right on it. The menu was incredible with so many different sides and a terrific price point. Pick up was smooth and easy and the food was all delicious with excellent presentation. Everyone raved about how delicious it all was and we had plenty for seconds and even leftovers. The gougeres were a special treat with all the traditional dishes. Hoping they continue this menu for years to come as this will definitely be my Thanksgiving go-to. read more

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! Their Houston Restaurant Weeks brunch deal is a MUST-TRY! $20 for a three-coarse meal with amazing food. The watermelon salad... French toast... and the soufflé were my absolute favorite! I also give customer service an A++! This is an extraordinarily beautiful venue with soaring ceilings, glass lined wine room and luxurious furniture. I was here many years ago when Stella Sola was housed here and it was marvelous to see the present owner maintained and upgraded the look. This is, however, much more than looks. Service is impeccable with swift seating, beverages delivered promptly and a nearly invisible bus lady removing used plates, filling water and remolding napkins. The food also meets these high standards. We were a table of 4 and three of us opted for offerings off the Houston Restaurant Week menu and the last member selected the fish of the day to round out our table. One member of our party had food allergies and our waiter made it his mission to ensure that nothing that she selected contained the offending ingredient, heading back to the kitchen multiple times to consult with the chef. For appetizers we had the excellent beef empanadas, crisp, light and filled with beef, the tomato gazpacho poured at the table and a kale and ricotta salad. All disappeared rapidly. Two elected to have the salmon as their mains. Again the waiter looked out for our companion and hers arrived absent that item. Both salmon were perched atop an asparagus risotto and the taste and presentation matched. I enjoyed the pork and grits, an osso buco style offering atop some cheesy grits. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. The grits were tasty but too rich for my taste. The last entree was a branzino with two big shrimp and a lemon butter sauce. It, too, was well received. We ended our meal by sharing the soufflé. Touted as a must have, it proved to be just that. Warm, steamy goodness with a silky sauce and a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream, it was the perfect ending to an amazing lunch. read more

I have always had a wonderful experience at Maison Pucha. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, it stays on my short list. I love the ceviche and the empanadas! Not pictured is my salmon salad. The presentation was amazing as all plates are here. They even gave me a list of cheese substitutes for the blue cheese that came with my salad, upon my request. If I'm not getting a bottle of champagne, the bubble drink is a must -- how cute does it photograph?! They have a wonderful selection of wine and bubbles. Other great things: They have lots of patio space for big groups, and a big parking lot out back although sometimes it is complimentary valet only but either way parking is easy! Valet may just be for weekends. read more

Happy Hour here is a must. The cocktails and oyster specials alone make this the ideal place to be on any afternoon. I tried the oysters both baked and raw, either way you cannot go wrong. Make sure you make a timely reservation for dinner on a weekend. It was fully packed when we arrived and we had to wait a bit longer to be seated although we had a reservation on the book. Once we were seated the service was great! HRW Selected Menu- Watermelon Salad, Pork & Grits, Creme Brûlée Every entrée was packed full of flavor. I'm typically not a fan of grits but these definitely make the cut. The pork slid right off the bone, so tender but I could not finish it all. The portion was generous but I was saving room for dessert. There's a lot of detail in their food and service, beautiful setting and lively atmosphere. Don't keep this restaurant on your list to try for too long, visit them sooner rather than later! read more
Came here as a party of 4 for their 2019 HRW Brunch on a Sunday at noon, luckily we got seated immediately even though we didn't have reservations. The complimentary valet service made parking here convenient as well. The restaurant is very nice looking, decorated with cool paintings/pictures, and the wine wall showcasing off their wine selection is a cool focal point. I don't remember our servers name, but he had good service just a little awkward. He explained how the HRW brunch works, and also mentioned a couple chef specialties on the normal menu as well. The only thing I didn't like about him was how pushy he was that we all order the upcharge HRW options only. Every time we said our menu choices, if we didn't choose an upcharge item like the duck confit entree, he would say something along the lines of "oh you should get this instead, it tastes better, and we need your help to make the restaurant more money." He said this more than once, and it definitely made ordering our food awkward from the unwanted pressure. As far as the food itself goes, the HRW brunch was fantastic in taste and presentation. Between our table, the 4 of us all shared so we could try a majority of the brunch menu. We tried their watermelon salad, grilled vegetable terrine, and shrimp ceviche for appetizers. The steak/eggs, duck confit, and french toast for entrees. And last but not least their pistachio creme brulee, and chocolate passion fruit souffle for dessert. The clear favorites being their watermelon salad, duck confit, and that PERFECT SOUFFLE for dessert. The ecuadorian chocolate souffle with passion fruit creme anglaise and vanilla ice cream was the HIGHLIGHT of the entire meal, and I recommend everyone come here just for that dessert! Other than the pushy server, my only other complaint here is the noise level of the restaurant. Sunday brunch was crowded as expected, but there was this 1 big table of 20 women friends who were EXTREMELY loud. It seemed like they were catching up and celebrating someone's birthday, but there were so loud that you couldn't hear the person across your table or the servers couldn't hear your order. All the tables around them were clearly thinking the same thing cause you had to lean in really close to whoever you were eating with to hear them speak. It made the dining experience difficult, but luckily the food made up for it. I would come eat here again, just hopefully next time it's not so loud, maybe I'll come on a quieter weekday. Just do yourself a favor, and get that chocolate passion fruit souffle for sure!! read more

3 Stars for food. 5 Stars for service Overall very nice ambiance and clean restaurant. Parking: not a ton, but it's in the back Service: The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Our water glasses were always filled and the staff was attentive. Food: (minus the cheese puffs, we ordered from the Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menu) Cheese puffs (2/5): To be fair, it's not exactly what we were expecting but they lacked flavor. Had they come with a spread, it probably would have tasted much better. Watermelon salad (4/5): The presentation was beautiful. The watermelon was sweet, but as someone who enjoys goat cheese, it was too much. Gazpacho (2/5): Presented nice and they poured the tomato soup into the bowl with the veggies in it, but it was pretty bland. Trout (3/5): It was decent. A small portion but did have flavor Pork shank (4/5): Amazing presentation (they flambéd the rosemary). It looked great. The meat fell right off of the bone. It was pretty flavorful. The cheese grits that it sat on was interesting. Not bad, not good... an unexpected taste. Soufflé (5/5): This was so good and I would come back just for it. It was not overly sweet, it had a great crisp on top and fluff. It was really good. Overall, we will be back. We didn't have any drinks or oysters and there are other items we are are looking forward to trying. read more
I came at around 3:30pm on a Saturday and when my party of 3 walked in, they said they were only doing happy hour. We planned on doing HRW but were flexible since we didn't do too much research so we said it was fine. Our server started off by asking if we were paying together. We didn't want to, but then he said something about it being easier for them so we looked at each other and, being the people pleasers we were and completely caught off guard, agreed despite being an inconvenience to us--the customers...upon reflection, I realized how unprofessional this was for a restaurant of this standard. Or the standard they wanted to be perceived as. The menu clearly states "no split checks on parties of 5 or more." We were a party of 3 and he had no right to try and guilt us to not split checks when that is not their policy and we didn't want to as customers. He then took our drink order and gave his recommendations, which we followed and actually liked. I don't remember their names but they basically just tasted like juice. I'm not sure if they even had alcohol in them, but I guess they tasted good. After bringing our drinks he took our appetizer order. I got the shrimp ceviche and was confused when just 3 whole shrimps and 3 plantain chips in a glass of tomato juice was set in front of me. This was not the form of ceviche I was expecting and I was wondering where the rest of it was. There were maybe 5 pieces of cubed tomato at the bottom of the glass upon closer inspection, but I couldn't even get them with the plantain chips. The other pictures on Yelp images looked fuller and had more in it. They all had cilantro or some kind of herb on top and mine clearly didn't, so idk what happened for mine, but I just can't believe they're serving a few shrimps in a glass of tomato juice and marketing it as ceviche. It's blasphemous! I understand having a different take on a classic dish, but this just seemed ridiculously cheap and an excuse to use less ingredients. You can see in my picture how empty the glass was. And that was how it arrived! I hadn't even touched it yet and a part of a shrimp was the only real thing sticking out of the tomato juice because there was barely anything in it!! I can't speak to how anything else tastes because after our appetizers arrived, our server didn't come check on us for another hour. Did I mention we were only ONE of THREE tables in the entire restaurant? By the time he checked on us, we had decided to just leave and eat somewhere else. We intended to get entrees, but the service was ridiculous. If the place were busy, it would've been understandable, but even if there's only a single server working, 3 tables is not so overwhelming that it is acceptable to leave a table unattended for an hour without taking their entree orders. Maybe my experience was unusual because they seem to have good reviews on here, but from my visit, this place seems like a lot of hype for aesthetics and pretty drinks to cover their bad service and stingy dishes. read more
