Malabar fish curry drenched in oil.
    Lovejit K.

I have been going to this place after Red Chillies in Milpitas closed their restaurant and now only does catering. This place is a hit or miss but today I was super disappointed hence this review. I go for my staples Malabar fish curry and Beef fry with appam. Beef fry was super bland as if they forget to put any spices in it. The worst was the malabar fish curry was DRENCHED in oil. see pic below Will not be going here for a while now.

We gave this place a try as our go-to place for Kerala food--red chillies closed. We ordered online, although the pick-up time that their website showed was 30 minutes before the restaurant opened. Needless to say, we had to wait 30 minutes after our scheduled pick-up time because their website was buggy and they took orders even during their off-hours. Thankfully, the food was ready within 15 minutes after the restaurant opened. We ordered fish cutlets, kappa, mango fish curry, and beef roast. The food was good, and the portion size was good as well. I really liked the fish curry. I'm not sure if it's worth the drive, though.

My best friend and I visited Malabar Coast today for dinner and I was absolutely mind blown by how flavourful and yummy the food tasted. My first time having Kerala food and my bestie (he's from Kerala) ordered some dishes for me to try. He ordered 2 curries Chicken Varutharachatu (Spicy chicken curry cooked to perfection with curry leaves and red chilli, tasted little similar to chettinadu chicken curry with Kerala flavors) CHEMMEEEN MANGA CURRY ( shrimp curry with notes of raw mango, tamarind cooked in coconut oil) , Iddiappam( steamed rice cakes like vermicelli) and parota. The food was exceptionally yummy and I absolutely loved my first Kerala food experience. The iddiappam and shrimp curry was a match made in heaven. Same goes to chicken curry and parota. Will visit again to try out more dishes.

Haven't been more disappointed with a restaurant in recent memory. The menu looked exciting with a lot of unique options and we ordered a lot of varieties - fish cutlets, chicken 65, talasery chicken biryani, kappa, parotta, idiyappam, meen vatichathu. Chicken 65- the only decent dish of the evening, not exceptional but nothing much to complain about. Fish cutlets- under seasoned with a strong smell of fish. Idiyappam- not freshly prepared, they were hard set due to sitting around for some time. Kappa- made with yucca root, there were several large chunks of the intact yucca root. Porotta- flaky but very stiff without much malleability. Meen vatichathu- fish curry with very strong flavor of tamarind. I personally didn't like it. Talasery chicken biryani- the dish came with rice mixed with a very oily chicken gravy as the bottom with some other rice on top. There was a boiled egg as well. The texture of the rice was hard, it was not uncooked but it's the state the rice gets rendered to when refrigerated. The temperature of the dish was inconsistent, parts of it were warm and parts of it were room temperature with the hard rice. The boiled egg was fridge cold. We couldn't eat the dish. I hate wasting food and tend to pack leftovers but this was something I could barely eat or pack to take home. I personally wanted to provide feedback to the owner so I requested a call back as he was not at the restaurant. He promptly called me and spoke to to me for 10 mins, took all the feedback constructively and apologized for my experience. I hope they improve and take the feedback in the right stride.

    Talassery Biryani - Chicken

Service = Ok Ambience = Bad ( not clean) Food = Below average. Non of the item was fresh. Chili chicken was certainly not fresh same as the Beef Fry. It may because we went on a weekday. Not worth the money and time.

Ordered Fish Fry, explicitly had mentioned to keep it mild. Even picked up the order and open it, it had the spicy masala used. Asked the cashier and his meak response was that is how we make it, when asked you should have called and informed so I can cancel the order the response was the chef did not see the message that came with order. Now the preparation, it was shoddy, the spices applied only to some area and underprepared/cooked. Very poor experience with food and service

    Sunil R.

Really good flavors and friendly staff. I got the idiyappam, paneer makhani, paratha, and gobi manchurian. They were all very good. Malabar Coast is in the top quartile of Indian restaurants in the area for sure. The only nit is that the quantity of the idiyappams was tiny and it was barely there.

Social media strikes again…read more.. I came across a reel on IG featuring Iraklis. The food looked intriguing and scrumptious...in other words FIRE! I would not have known about this place if it wasn't for the reel. I'm also not familiar with Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. Thought I'd give it a shot. Not the biggest of venues, it a bit small on the inside, they have few benches and tables outside. Parking wasn't an issue, plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The staff was very helpful and informative. This is a fast casual spot with table service. They do bring the food to you, but you can help yourself to everything else afterwards, is: water, sauces, napkins etc. #SyrianEats: WRAP: ~ SHAWARMA: Damascus style CHICKEN - 5/5 Absolutely DELISH!! Love the garlic spread that came on the side. The wrap was already tasty enough, but somehow it was even tastier with the Garlic spread. Even the fries that came with it were spectacular! That drizzle pomegranate molasses... just DELISH!! This was one of the best wraps I had Stateside. Actually the best! PLATE: ~ MANSAF - 5/5 The Lamb shank was excellent as well! Tender fall of the bone with flavor galore, and the butter sauce was amazing as well...delish! The rice that came with the Lamb shank was OK. It was probably good, but the flavor profile didn't stand up to the rest of the food. I thought it could use more flavor, but that just me nitpicking... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5***** for me This food here is amazing. I'll be back...

Hella yummy Palestinian food in the Bay!…read more I've heard of Holyland but finally had the chance to dine there for a weekend lunch. These days it's always at the front of my mind that food spots that call themselves "Middle Eastern" or "Mediterranean" truly divulge who is the owner and chefs are. I'm talking about only eating from restaurants that can name the country their food comes from be it Falasteen, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the list goes on. Holyland is located in the industrial part of Santa Clara, and they boast lots of interior seating (great for large parties and group meals) and also run a catering service. So there's loads of parking and plenty of space. My friend and I were hungry, so I got the lamb kofta and he had the beef plates. We were SO happy. It comes with a light tangy salad, delicious hummus with a kick of spice, a bed of delicious yellow rice and slender pita bread. They also have serve-yourself hot cardamom tea which is so delicious and perfect. They also serve a bunch of other refrigerated drinks like Salaam Cola and kefir. The mezze plate with x4 different dips looks so yummy, I would get that next time with a large group to share. Will definitely head back with a larger group. We saw other diners from couples, to solo to large families eating. The interior could use some sprucing up, but the quality of the food, staff, and authenticity of the place is #1. Delicious. We microwaved for 30seconds and it was fine, still super juicy. Everything is thoroughly cooked in it and flavored really well, and the rice pairs great. I went on a Thursday afternoon before 5pm and it was empty, food was brought out pretty quickly and they were friendly. There's plenty of parking, it's tucked behind some other buildings.

Read this if you like lamb!…read more A variety of lamb dishes, which is their specialty. My favorite is their Cumin Lamb with Naan, smells great even from a few feet away. The bite size naan is crunchy but can be too greasy for some people cos it soaks up some of that lamb or chili oil from the meat. The next one is Spicy Lamb Ribs, lamb ribs with enough fat is always yummy, and the spices dried chili onions all make it savory and flavorful. The last recommendation is the healthiest option, plenty of lean protein and not as greasy as the other two mentioned, is their Lamb Leg Polo, came with some really delicious rice with carrots and spices in it, perfect meal after working out.

I haven't had Xinjiang/Uyghur cuisine before eating here, but it's delicious! While the noodles are often in oil-based flavorings, they are never too heavy as the herbs and spices balance the light oil. Everything has lots of flavor, though if you can't eat lots of oil, some dishes may not be for you. The hand-pulled noodles are very long, so if you are sharing a dish, you may be pulling them out for a while or end up grabbing the same noodle as someone else. The restaurant is on the smaller side and with only 1 larger table seating 5-7 realistically, so tables of 2-4 will be seated quicker. This is not a place for large parties, and you may feel a touch close to other diners at other tables. I'll definitely be back when I'm looking to eat something on El Camino!

The kopoglu was pretty good too and paired very nicely with their house made bread, which btw is perfectly fluffy and amazing for dipping. They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it!
