I remember when this place was going up, and I thought to myself, "hmmm I should try that when it opens." Well I think it's been there for a couple years now, and I only tried it a few days ago for the first time. They have a pretty basic menu, you choose your fish, your marinade, and your sides. I was kinda boring and got the crab cakes plate during my first visit, but they were very crunchy and tasty. Good with the rice pilaf. The boy tried the mahi mahi with the lemon marinade, and it was perfectly grilled and tasted super fresh. Everything is pretty healthy (if you stay away from the fried foods, which obviously I did not). The fish is fresh and perfectly grilled as well. I came back and tried the seared ahi tuna plate, and MMMMM perfection. The cajun seasoning was great with the rare tuna. The thing that sucks about this place is the parking lot though. One way, and getting out is a pain in the ass! ps. we ordered pick up last week and that was a BAD IDEA. the fish was cold, even though we had to wait for our food even 15 min after we placed the order. Unfortunately our first visit to this restaurant ended with us at the Emergency Room an hour after dinner. The whole experience was bad. They didn't have the side orders my boyfriend wanted so he asked for extra bread was charged for the bread (really!!) then he thought the sauce was spicy but it turns out the ER Dr.s said either they are not handling the fish properly or purchasing from a place that doesn't handle their fish properly. He went in today to let them now and they said he must be allergic to fish, nothing to do with them....he only eats fish. read more

Me and my family, we decided to try out this place. First of all, the parking is not that great. There is only one entrance and exit and if you miss the entrance, you would have to turn around. The parking spaces is small and has about 6-7 spots. Once you walk inside the restaurant, you order at the front. I decided to try the fish n chips. It cost around $11. Once you order, you take a seat and they bring out the food to you. The fish n chips was fresh and crisp. It was a big portion and they give you 2 fish. What happened to this place, or is this particular store the weak link in the franchise chain ? I will never find out. Because I will never return. For the most part, the employees at the cash register, are friendly and knowledgeable, to a point. I guess I happened to get that one guy that did not know what "Mediterranean Bream" fish was. My teenage daughter had the Mahi Mahi fillet that was cut so paper thin, I wonder how they kept it from falling through the grill when they cooked it. She had originally wanted to go to Captain Kidds fish market near Redondo pier. But it was a holiday weekend, parking was a hassle, and frankly I was being cheep. Captain Kidds is always crowded and a little expensive. I should have listened to her... I went against ALL my own rules, that warn, about you a mediocre restaurant . Rule # 1. There was plenty of parking, at Malibu fish grill. Rule # 2. There was nobody in the place ! When it comes down to price it is about the same as Capitan Kidds. But at CK's we would be getting a real fish dinner. Malibu fish grill is extremely expensive for what it is. I remember Bing here before, years ago and remembered it as a very good and healthy alternative to the usual fish restaurants, but times have changed. The portions size per cost is ridiculous.... I think McDonald's makes a better fish meal, with their Mic fish fillet sandwich. Than this place. Next time I will listen to my teenager and go to a proper fish market/ fish grill. read more

This spot is my absolute favorite take out spot. I don't eat any red meat or pork so this place calls my name on the regular. With tons of fish/chicken options you don't get bored. My particular favorite is the Mediterranean Salad (add chicken) and it comes with some of the best pita I've ever tasted (comparable to the fluffy pita you can buy at a farmers market stand) but make sure if you like a more toasted pita, ask for extra toasted. I prefer mine soft just as they serve it. They also have a very flavorful hummus that I can never pass up! read more

They sent out a coupon that said "buy one get one 1/2 off" however under it the print said "get one complimentary item when one purchased"...so needless to say it was a typo on their part and they weren't willing to honor their mistake. Its fast, and you dont feel like a giant overstuffed sausage after you eat. its not amazing, and its pretty much fish fast food. But It seems reasonably healthy, they have a nice selection of quazi fresh ish fish things, so you could do a lot worse in a pinch, but the parking lot is wretched. read more

This my favorite when I want some fish fast food...I have been easily 20 times over the past couple of years. Their grilled salmon and trout plates are great....so is the fantastic slaw.Good fish and chips too. I haven't been that pleased with some of the sandwiches, but overall you get a nice meal and reasonable price. oh..and parking sucks, so we almost always walk! I like this small establishment. It is chill and the taco tuesdays are great. I tend to always get the Salmon with Cajun seasoning. The best thing about this fish grill is how fast you can get your sea food. If your starving and craving the fish, and you strollin down PCH in Redondo Beach, they can get you a quick dose of fish/shrimp. I have ate here multiple times, and the service is good, but the parking is very tiny. The location is prime and the weather (even though it doesn't matter) tends to be great. They said they changed the price on the menu bit not the website. They refused to give me the website price. I figured, what ever. I just have to hurry cack to work. Then 45 minutes later a realized people that ordered after me had gotten their food and left. I asked about my order and they said it didn't get to the kitchen. No apologies or anything. I had two different times ordered a salad with fish to go asked them to toss in the dressing both times I ended up with no dressing they didn't even put a dressing in the bag. Worst customer service experience ever!!! I called in an order and was told 10-15 minutes for pick up. I arrived within 20 minutes and paid. However, I sat in the restaurant for 45 minutes awaiting my food. While I was waiting, no one came over to apologize and no one offered to check on my order. Many customers came and went. The cashiers and kitchen staff even stared at me the whole time. Finally, when I decided check the status, I was told my order never transmitted to the kitchen. This is really funny considering I had already paid my $25. I asked for a refund and received one with a much less than sincere apology. Needless to say I never tasted the food and with service like this, I never want to!!! read more

Went here in the fall of 2013. The fish was good... but there was no seasoning. I felt like doing one of Gordon Ramsey's "It's bland!!"impersonations. It was about $13 per plate for the average dish... I wish I could write something better but even some simple salt sprinkling along the top of the fish would have been an improvement. It's not worth going out when you feel like you could make something tastier at home and have it still be healthy. But, that being said, the fish was at least cooked well. Malibu fish grill is a go to favorite of mine for fish tacos. I come here just about every Tuesday for their Taco Tuesday deal, used to be $2 any taco but the fish ones are $3 now but still a great deal. The mahi mahi are the best. We had lunch here on $2 Taco Tuesday. I had mahi mahi, crispy wahoo, and grilled shrimp tacos on corn tortillas. The food came reasonably quick and warm. The taste was okay, but nothing to get me excited. The fish/shrimp was fine, but the overall flavor profile was pretty bland. I'd go back with the lunch crowd again, but I'd try something else. Price: $2 for a fish taco is good. Normal pricing looked reasonable for portion sizes. Note that $2 taco Tuesday is going to change to $2 or $3 Taco Tuesday soon. Location: Not much parking. MFG, take notice. I've patronized this place a number of times. I think the food quality is fair to good. I think some of the fish and sides are a bit greasy and could use a lighter touch. Tonight, I ordered the kale salad with quinoa, and ordered grilled shrimp as an addition. Quite a few problems. 1) Way too much kale, and not enough quinoa. Like, I think there was one Tbsp of quinoa. It should be more like half and half. 2) Shrimp still had the tails on. Eew. Who wants a salad with shrimp where you have to pull the tails off?? Take off the SHELLS!!! 3) I found not ONE but TWO HAIRS in my salad. Gross. Both long, brown, wavy hairs. Do your kitchen workers not wear hairnets??? PLEASE fix this! UNSANITARY.
