Best sushi in Malibu! The food is outstanding - Nobu quality fish. Sit at the sushi bar for an A+ experience

Sat at the sushi bar and service was great. I understand why they have so many good reviews. The orange chicken was excellent, which was quite the surprise. The sushi rolls were good. Very delightful spicy tuna crispy rice and halibut sushi.

We ordered takeaway from this spot - my boyfriend was working nearby and brought the order home. We tried the Malibu Roll, Lox Roll, gyoza, and seaweed salad. The lox roll (called a "philly roll" elsewhere - salmon, cucumber, cream cheese), the gyoza, and the seaweed salad were on point. The Malibu roll (lobster, crab, amberjack, lemon, and more with sliced jalapenos and spicy eel sauce) was phenomenal - fresh, flavourful, and beautifully plated, even in takeout packaging. Every item was boxed properly and we received napkins, chopsticks, and sushi condiments. The wait time for the order was fewer than 15 minutes - my boyfriend barely had time to drink a Sapporo there as he waited to pick it up. With such delicious sushi and a pleasant and efficient staff, I'd go out of my way to come here if I was in Malibu. Great casual option if you don't want to get gussied up for Nobu.

The Mango Poke here is so delicious. All the ingredients are very fresh. It just adds on to the beautiful weather here in Malibu. I'm so glad I decided to try this place. Service is great as well. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. You have got a very happy customer here.

Double Spicy Tuna (Special sprinkling of adorable masago on it).

This is my go to for faaaaabulous, well crafted and superb rolls especially the Shiso Luna. Incredible No way Whhaaaat? Heaven Like buttah! It's layered so well that the roll separates in an oh-so-amazing journey inside my mouth. Unbelievably well done! I have never never ever eaten halibut (top layer) and yellowtail in a roll that did not but instead tasted so superb. With the mysterious shiso to pepper it up! So fresh. So fresh! And let the record show ... Chef knows I love Kama, so he got sous to freshly cut one up for me. And by golly! Quiet please. I need to pause and delight in this. No one can take this heaven away from me. Not on a mundane Monday! Not even if LA is celebrating downtown for the Dodgers. I love the Dodgers and am so proud of them ... but my love for Howdy's Sushi ... no can do. I'll watch you on YouTube Ohtani-San! ps Double Spicy Tuna - a very simple and popular name for something NOT a single sushi place in Malibu (wink wink) can match. The miniature (artistically crafted) sprouts on each piece - wow! How does chef do it! This is Michelin star level... but shhhh. Yes Images included. This time I didn't forget. So great. So great!

Very limited seating inside since it's a tiny space. They have 11-course omakase for $120. We got: 1) 3/5 spicy tuna crispy rice cakes ($15) - which my family didn't like, but I thought it was decent. 2) 5/5 mango poke bowl ($24) - I been craving poke for months, been years since I've had. The mango was really fresh, firm, balanced with sweet & slightly sour flavors. The fish was tuna & salmon I believe. Comes with raspberries & blackberries. Salivating as I'm typing. I can def eat another bowl. Too bad Malibu is so far. 3) 3/5 three hand roll combo: spicy toro, yellowtail & salmon ($30) - these are pretty standard 4) 3/5 classic bento ($30): Cali roll & cucumber salad, 3 nigiris, shrimp & pumpkin tempura. The shrimp tempura was the best thing in the box. It was so good, we got an order of just shrimp tempura. Everything else in the box was pretty standard. 5) 5/5 shrimp tempura ($14) You know it's good when you don't even need sauce. The batter was so crispy.

Best service. Vano here is the MAN.

Food incredible. Service incredible. It felt like Christmas even though it was Thanksgiving and I loved that.

What a cute hidden gem in Malibu! This restaurant took me by surprise because I was very skeptical at first but now this is my go-to place for sushi in Malibu!!! Kane and Josh were our servers and they were so attentive! A+++ for their customer service! Kane recommended the Malibu roll which was spectacular! Loaded with flavor with a zest from lemon and mint! Definitely recommend getting the sashimi bc the fish here is so fresh! There's a lot of parking and seating is limited in the restaurant

I've been coming here since they first opened, and it's remained a favorite for a reason...it never misses. There are a few things I consider completely non-negotiable, and the surf and turf roll is one of them. It's just that good! And if you love yellowtail sashimi, theirs is consistently fresh, delicate, and beautifully done. I always add extra jalapeño's, but do you. We went as a group of five and shared a bit of everything (the only way to do it, in my opinion), and there were so many standouts. The pumpkin tempura was unexpectedly addictive, and the scallops we had prepared two different ways, were absolute perfection... the kind that just melt the second they hit your palate. What really makes this place special, though, is the full experience. The service is warm and polished without ever feeling overdone, the cocktails are crafted just right, and the outdoor seating has that relaxed Malibu charm. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to, and quietly recommend to people who appreciate when things are done right.

That alone already gives it a special kind of charm, but the food and overall experience definitely delivered too. First off, parking is actually easy which in this area is a huge win.. I didn't have to circle or stress, which immediately made the whole visit feel more relaxed from the start. The sushi itself was super fresh. You can really taste the quality of the fish, and everything came out clean, well presented, and just really satisfying. Nothing felt overly heavy or overly complicated, just solid, fresh sushi done right. I kept thinking the whole time how consistent everything tasted. Now I have to talk about the mango sticky rice because that completely surprised me. It was honestly amazing. Perfectly sweet without being too much, the mango was fresh and juicy, and the rice had that warm, creamy texture that just hits. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole meal, which I did not expect walking into a sushi place. I will say it is a little on the pricey side, but at the same time you can tell you are paying for quality and location. It didn't feel like a ripoff, just more of a treat kind of place rather than an everyday casual stop. The service was smooth and easy, nothing over the top but attentive enough that you feel taken care of without being hovered over. The whole vibe is low key but still feels like a place you want to come back to. The only thing I regret is not getting the uni. I kept thinking about it after and I know it would have been incredible based on how fresh everything else was. Overall, really solid spot. Fresh sushi, amazing mango sticky rice, easy parking, and a calm, enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely one of those places you're glad is still around and worth going back to.

Parking can be tight, the line usually wraps around the shack, and everyone is hungry. But don't let that scare you off--the food is absolutely worth the wait. I've been here three times now, and one thing has never changed: the 3-piece fried fish and fries is mandatory. The portions are huge, and I'm calling it now... the best fish and chips in Los Angeles. The fish is unbelievably crispy on the outside, perfectly flaky on the inside, and fried exactly the way it should be. I used to order the fried seafood combo, which comes with fish, shrimp, scallops, and calamari. Everything is good, but the fish and shrimp are the stars, so now I just order the fish and chips with fried shrimp à la carte. One item that deserves way more attention on Yelp is the ceviche. It's ridiculously fresh, loaded with flavor, and served with crispy fried tortilla chips. Honestly, I'd order it every visit. The clam chowder is good too, but the ceviche steals the spotlight. The lobster roll is another surprise. I love Broad Street Oyster Company's lobster roll, but it's over almost as soon as it starts. Malibu Seafood's version is much more generous while still being packed with fresh lobster. Don't sleep on the steamed mussels either. Order a pound for the table and make sure you save the bread for the broth. That broth alone is worth coming back for. I always finish it off with one of their fresh-squeezed lemonades--the perfect pairing after a day at the beach. Seating can take a little patience too, but that's part of the experience. Grab a table overlooking the ocean and PCH if you can. Fresh seafood, ocean breeze, and flip-flops still covered in sand... that's Malibu done right. No reservations. No fancy dress code. Just outstanding seafood in one of the best casual beachside spots around. I'll keep coming back.

Nowadays, that note is rarely recognized by restaurants and most use Open Table for their reservations! Upon arrival at the hostess station, we were asked who's birthday and said Happy Birthday, and again by the Hostess that brought us to our table, and then by our sever. I felt so special and acknowledged! It's these small gestures that truly make the difference and a very lasting impression! Casey was our server and he was excellent. Helped to make suggestions and answer questions. Checked back often with each course to make sure everything was as expected. The other staff helping to serve and bus, very friendly and helpful. For drinks, I ordered a Mimosa and my husband and son both ordeted cappuccino, all excellent. They have an excellent cocktail and wine menu. Rolls came out piping hot, nice touch! For appetizers, we started with Crab Cakes and Heirloom Tomatoes with Burrata. Burrata is house made and it shows! Both were so good and I would highly recommend ordering. The stuffed squid was good but I would ask for the eel sauce on the side because the crab mix is also sweet, so the sweetness can be overpowering. I don't recommend the ikura bc of the heavy sake marinade but you may feel differently. The ikura has been the one and only item I wouldn't get again. Everything else has been fantastic. This is an entirely different experience to sugarfish. Shibuya is willing to make dishes to your taste, so if you don't want something on a particular dish or you want a special dish not on the menu, just tell your server. Everything can be customized which I really like. Sugarfish by comparison is extremely simple and utilitarian and has a factory quality to it that Shibuya is the complete opposite to. I really had high hopes, due to the reviews and the line of people waiting outside. Though, you are better off going to SugarFish instead of getting all of your nigiri smothered in sauce and the fish being Luke warm to warm fish pieces or even it being wet... meaning quality was very and extremely mediocre. Excellent hand roll bar that we stumbled on for date night yesterday. We ordered 6 handrails and 6…read morenigiris, plus yellowtail sashimi, which was very tasty. The fish were fresh and the hand rolls had perfect amount of rice. Oh and loved the miso soup, probably one of the best I've had anywhere. I will say that the reviews were good, however I was skeptical due to North Hollywood location and newly openly developed area. Regardless, we tried it. We were greeted and told to wait; totally fine, party of 3 on the waitlist seated ahead of us. Next, we sat down, listening to Drake, Kendrick and Kayne. After we were seated, we asked if we could share one hand roll set, which is something we regularly do at every other handroll restaurants. The waitress immediately explained that the hand roll sets were not meant to be shared and repeatedly asked us which specific rolls each of us would be eating. We were questioned about it more than once, making the interaction feel unnecessarily uncomfortable. A short time later, as J-Cole continued to play, another couple was seated next to us. They also asked to share a hand roll set. To my surprise, they were not given the same explanation, nor were they repeatedly asked to identify which rolls each person would be eating. Their request was simply accommodated. Interesting how minorities are treated here compared to others in this area. I cannot believe in 2026 how racism is very much alive, while black artists are playing overhead. I've spent thousands of dollars dining at restaurants throughout Los Angeles and have always believed that every customer deserves to be treated with the same level of respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I will never return to this racist establishment. I hope management takes customer service seriously and ensures that all guests are treated consistently and respectfully. Bottom line, I should have gone to Yunomi. Also, prices are too high.
