Good was excellent and service was even better. . Very brunch cafe style. Swedish fruit filled pancakes was super yummy. California egg Benedict - eggs was too well done. But biscuits were yummy. Flavorful and moist. Surprise - side potatoes were quite flavorful ! Would ask for more well done next time though. Will definitely be back

Maltby Cafe is a never miss for me (when I actually can go and the wait isn't 1 hr+). I swear everyone who works here drinks happy juice and is so pleasant and kind. This time my daughter got the pancakes for the kids menu which came shaped as a bear with chocolate chip eyes which was adorable and delicious. My husband and I split the Montana potatoes (he added a side of gravy for the biscuit) which was enough for us to each have breakfast and leftovers for the next day. The food here is true diner food leveled up. Classics that taste homemade with love! Can't wait to visit them when they open the new, bigger location!

We came here after hiking in the area and thought we would have a long wait because it was right at prime lunchtime, and even though they said 15 minute wait, it ended up being a shorter wait. Food was good, very big portions. We had to try the cinnamon roll, really yummy. They have some seating at the bar also.

Very uneven. The Malby beef dip and potato salad was delicious. Very interesting potato salad with celery, red onion and dill. Yummy. My turkey wrap was fine, though i couldn't find the lettuce on it. The "fries " however were not edible. Extremely greasy, unevenly cooked. How could anyone eat these? I asked the server and she said that's how they make them. Ugh. I couldn't eat half my meal.

Although I've gotten the cinnamon rolls before, I don't think I'd properly dined in before. The cafe is located in the basement, and there's a parking lot conveniently located right outside. I came in a small group, and we got seated after a few minutes. The service was great from start to finish, and we were chatting with the servers while we were waiting for our table. I ordered the French toast, and it was so good. I loved the fresh berries and cream on top because of the extra boost of flavor. The portions were generous, and I brought back some of my food as leftovers. We got a cinnamon roll to go as well.

A lovely and family welcoming environment. The food was good and the service was better. They are known for their cinnamon rolls so we had to try one! However, I was left a bit disappointed. Some people Iove them but it wasn't for me. Worth visiting at least once!

Everything about this place is amazing. My wife and I split the swedish pancakes and a burrito, and everything was top tier. The crispy potatoes are some of the best breakfast potatoes, the cream on the pancakes was like ice cream that didn't melt...come here. You won't regret it!

First time at the cafe for breakfast. We went on a Friday morning around 9am and it was busy but there were several empty tables and didn't have to wait. Cafe is standard. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food came out pretty fast from when we ordered to coming out. Food made from scratch. Juice felt like it was hand press and not from a container. Their toast is homemade. Entrees are pricey but worth it with the portion size. We ordered the following items: Orange juice Two extra large eggs with bacon Country scramble California scramble 3 egg protein

It's been a long while since I've been to Maltby Cafe and I'm happy to report that nothing has changed. It's still giving you massive amounts of fresh, delicious food for a very reasonable price which is a rarity these days. Couple this with fast, friendly service, great coffee, and a great atmosphere and Maltby Cafe is still the best breakfast in Snohomish County and maybe even Western Washington.

Best cinnamon roll in the world.

I love this place with my whole heart. Maltby Cafe has been my favorite breakfast spot in the greater Seattle area for over 30 years, and that loyalty has been very earned. The cinnamon rolls are legendary for a reason. Warm, massive, perfectly gooey, and somehow still worth every bite even after decades of ordering them. The scrambles are always comforting, hearty, and done right, the kind of breakfast that keeps you full and happy all day. The ambience is pure cozy nostalgia. It feels like a place where time slows down a little, conversations linger, and breakfast actually feels special. Awesome servers, no rush, no trend-chasing, just consistently great food and a vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. Some places are good. This place is part of my life.

this is such a cozy and welcoming café. The service was quick and efficient. As for the food, it was delicious and comforting!! Great place to meet up with friends/family for breakfast :-)

Always heard some raving reviews about Maltby Cafe. I have been wanting to try this place. We attempted it couple of times in the past, but every time we stopped there for breakfast - the wait time was long and we were in a hurry to be elsewhere. So we figured out that we can't be time bound if we want to try this place. When we finally made up our mind to face the wait time and made no other plans but to enjoy the breakfast from Maltby Cafe, we stopped by. To our surprise, we only had to wait for 3 mins before we got a table even though this place was packed. just wow! The whole set up of this place is mesmerizing. The restaurant is in basement - that was a surprise. Well decorated. It echoes the fact that this place has been up and running for over 30 years. Amazing ambiance. We got a great spot. We were helped by Bria that day. Started off with Coffee and Hot chocolate for kids. We ordered the Fruit filled Swedish Pancakes, French Toast, Baja Omelette and Jr Pancakes. We underestimated the portions - it's huge and usually one order is good for two! Baja omelette was served with potato fries and a biscuit. Jr Pancake came with a sausage on the side. Plenty of fruits with French Toast as well. We really enjoyed the food. Loved everything we ordered that day. Of course couldn't finish the pancakes and had to get a takeout box. Maltby Cafe is known for their cinnamon rolls as well. We ordered one for take out as well. It's 'huge' - we enjoyed that for a couple of days as well. What we heard about this place was true based on our experience. Food is very delicious, plenty of options to pick from. Service was so nice - all the staffs were welcoming and friendly. This place gives the vibes of yesteryear which I always felt that we lost it long way back! If you are looking for a Brunch Place, I can't recommend a better place. Be prepared to wait (during weekends mainly) but also be ready to enjoy some delicious brunch!

Ask the Community - Maltby Cafe

How long is the average wait on the weekend?

Depends on the day of week, time, and size of party, but I'd say an average of 45 minutes for brunch for a party of four. Party of two slices that time to perhaps 30. Generally they are quicker than their published/relayed wait time.

How long do they serve breakfast on weekends?

All day, which means till 3PM. They recently changed so they also serve breakfast all day on weekdays. Download the weekend menu here - http://www.maltbycafe.com/Userfiles/Docs/Weekend.pdf and it says the hours.

How is the Maltby Cafe for gluten free menu items? Celiac's aren't eating out of choice, we have to eat gluten free.

I would call and ask the owner if they serve gluten free meals. They are very responsive to the needs of their patrons. My suggestion is call on a weekday and early.

What is the best day of the week and time of day to go where it is not super busy?

It is best to go on a weekday at 7am, it is uncrowded at that time. The weekends get very busy.

I really enjoyed my cider! It was refreshing and I would definitely get it again. As for food, we got fries with truffle oil and a monster cookie with vanilla ice cream. It was all so good! I would only say that the fries are in need of more salt but that's something I could've easily asked for (was too lazy in the moment). Service: (5/5) STELLAR staff here. It was a large bowl of romaine with maybe 3 little stips of kale. And I had to dig to find that. Additionally, the dressing had no flavor. It was not a kale ceasar. After working to flag down our server, I ordered the fish tacos instead. They tasted pretty good, but were heavily sauced and had more crunchy coating than fish. Oddly served with French fries. While they tasted good, I wouldn't order them again. But I should start with how great the waitress was when we were first seated. Answered questions about the menu and made suggestions. I even mentioned to my little group how great she was. I spoke too soon. We then couldn't flag down any server to ask for utensils so we could serve up the salad we were sharing as an app. That was a theme at this meal, very uneven service. Our entrées showed up before we were done with those apps. Besides the Ceasar salad. We had the prime rib dip. Tasted good, but a lot more bun than meat. Served with fries. Apparently there was a choice of fries. But we didn't know that and the server never asked. We also had the chicken and waffles. Started out enjoyable. But the way it was plated it quickly became very soggy. They should serve the syrup/sauce all on the side. Then there was the handling of the check. We asked for a split between the 2 couples. The server rattled off what we ordered and put a machine in front of me to pay. No presentation of a bill to see what I was bring charged. After paying I learned there was a charge for using a credit card. Whike it was only a couple bucks. I should know that before being charged. I asked for it to be voided so I could in pay with cash. The best thing we ate was a special appetizer - crostini topped with herded goat cheese, roasted yellow bell pepper and prosciutto. Even the toasted bread was well seasoned. Very yummy. Too bad not on the regular menu. As our other app we shared an ahi salad. Tasted pretty good but very hard to serve with chopsticks (and no possibility of flagging down a server). This place has potential, but I dont plan on going back.
