I've been wanted to try Yeni's for a while after hearing great things and was stoked to see the food truck parked outside of Night Owl, where Pedroso's food truck once was. This is a one-woman show with excellent, friendly service and delicious food! We were able to sit inside at Night Owl to beat the heat, which was much appreciated, but there are picnic tables in the shade, too. Everything we ordered was excellent: Grilled Chicken w/Yellow Rice and Green Chili was some of the most tender, flavorful chicken I've ever had. The Batagor Fried Dumplings were a large portion and very filling. We loved the peanut sauce for dipping. Lastly the Empal Gentong w/smoked brisket had a sizable portion of brisket included and the broth itself was both flavorful and light. We ate every bite of what we ordered and will definitely return to try more of the menu! read more

It's hard to find Indonesian food in Texas so I was super excited to find Yeni's! They have a few popular favorites like beef rendang and bubur ayam. Unfortunately, I was not super hungry so I only order one plate. I had to pick batagor which is a fried chicken and shrimp cake with spicy peanut sauce. It was delicious and is probably my all time favorite Indonesian dish. Yeni's is a food truck parked outside of Night Owl bar. My friend and I were surprised to find it nestled away in the parking lot of Night Owl bar, kind of random. We really enjoyed the food! She got the porridge and I got the chicken with rice. The chicken was tender although the sauce was a bit on the sweet side for me, and the it went well with the rice. It tasted light and not greasy, and the price was fair. We finally got to try this food truck after we have seen it so many times while driving by on Burnet Rd. We stopped by around 4:50PM on Saturday and there was nobody at the seating area which made me nervous for a second thinking they closed. I guess we were just early since they had just open. The food truck is located in front of a bar. There are two picnic tables and one outdoor steel mesh seating with a cover. There is a private parking on the side and parallel street parking on the back. They have pretty interesting menus and we wanted to try everything but decided on these items: - Martabak (wonton pocket with ground beef, eggs, and potato) - these were 2 decent size wontons that came with sweet dipping sauce. It was delicious and filling. PRO TIPS: we prefer dipping wontons in the green sauce/green chutney served with their chicken wings. - Wings with spicy bbq sauce - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! The chicken wings were fresh and fried to perfection but the bbq sauce that was poured on top of the wings itself was not spicy but the green sauce or chutney had a kick which I really loved! - Rendang/ beef curry combo with potato fritter, green chili, and cabbage salad - what a perfect meal; good sized portion and tasty. The beef was so tender with perfect amount of spice, and the cabbage salad paired nicely with the heavy curry. PRO TIPS: pour that green chili on the curry to add extra kick and dial down the saltiness of the curry. - Matcha rice pudding - They display 6 color photos of some of their food, and I saw the photo of this dessert on their menu board; it looks magical and beautiful, so I decided to try. The actual dessert looks completely different than the one on the photo which was a letdown. It was okay, and not too sweet. However the texture was a bit puzzling it was like a flan-tofu baby mix, nothing like rice pudding or the Thai rice pudding dessert I'm used to. In the mood for an adventure this weekend, so stopped by Yeni's on a Saturday night. No lines, but with the temps over 100, it's not surprising. They have a small table and two picnic benches outside, but with the lack of shade, we opted to eat inside Aristocrat. Note that if you have a yeti or other container with water, you won't be able to bring it inside. Guy in the truck was super nice! We ordered the Grilled Chicken with Yellow Rice and the Beef Rendang over rice. The Rendang had a good flavor although the beef wasn't very tender. The potato fritter was nice and the salad was refreshing and balanced the heaviness from the rendang. The Grilled chicken was delicious and had a nice charred flavor. Bonus points that it was dark meat as well. The yellow rice was delicious and flavorful, and a big amount. Both of us preferred the chicken over the beef. read more

I absolutely adore Yeni! She's absolutely incredible in running this food truck, and you can taste her passion and love in her food! The food truck is situated next to a bar and has a couple tables available outdoors. I've been here multiple times and if you do come here you MUST order the Batagor! Amazing food. I had the grill chicken, it was nice and juicy and tons of flavor. I was suppose to share with my girlfriend but almost ate the entire plate myself then I remembered. My friend and I were at the Aristocrat lounge after sparring, and we needed to eat some food since we were planning to have a few drinks. We started to look at the menu and noticed online ordering was close. My friend and I ordered from the truck. I had settled on the Grilled Chicken With Yellow Rice And Green Chili, which was gluten-free. I had my friend let them know I was also dairy-free, which shouldn't have been an issue since it was made with coconut cream. My friend with the beef option and said his meal was tasty as well. The grilled chicken with rice was very flavorful and tasted good. I liked the fact the chicken tasted and looked like real chicken. The pieces were not consistently the same. Delicious Indonesian food. I find it's hard to compare with any other cuisine! The porridge came with so much flavor and grilled moist chicken bites. I prefer my porridge very thick, and this version is so thick and not runny at all. The coconut brisket curry is so full of flavor and the tender cuts of lean brisket go nicely with it. Perfect to soak your rice in. The beef rendang is a good amount of spicy and comes with a tasty potato ball (not spicy). Batagor/fried fish dumplings were crispy, chewy and gummy. Wow loved this food truck. Yes i and her staff were so sweet and friendly! My friend and I split the grilled whole fish. Delicious! Loved getting the whole fish bone and all and eating around it. Was craving some Indonesian food and made a pit stop. We actually came for the beef rendang, but they were all out for the day. We got the Batagor dumplings (fish and chicken dumpling with a peanut sauce), Nepal Gentong (coconut cream soup with smoked brisket), and the grilled chicken with yellow rice. The chicken and brisket dishes came with a green salsa. The chicken was grilled well with a peanutty flavor and the yellow rice paired well. The soup had strong coconut flavor but the brisket was a little over cooked and didn't capture the flavor as well as I would have liked. The Batagor were the highlight dish, crispy on the outside, with a meaty chewy rice ball flavor on the inside. The peanut dip was an excellent pairing. Props to Yeni for the one woman show, cooking by herself in the austin heat and sharing her culture and food. read more

Yeni's The staff here is incredibly friendly and provides their recommendations if you've never been there before. I went with a friend and was able to try the grilled chicken and Rendang curry. The grilled chicken was light with a Texas spin of barbecue sauce being added. This was amazing. The rendang came with these crispy potatoes that were incredible and a slaw. All this together was right. The best part of each meal was the green salsa that comes with! It's sweet, it's spicy it's EVERYTHING. I would put this on everything. This is also a woman owned local business! I've had 4 dishes here and I love every one of them. They're indonesian food and the menu can change depending on the chef's creativity. I've had grilled chicken satay, grilled whole fish, Rendang/ Beef Curry, and tofu and tempeh curry. You get a lot of texture and flavors in each dish since the dishes come with different sides and sauces too. It's a bomb of delicious flavors. You can tell the owner/chef put a lot of thoughts and time into the dishes. There's a lot to prepare when there are that many ingredients. It's great to have a delicous local business like this to support. There is parking at the lot or on the street. This truck is right next to Aristocrat Lounge so you can sit inside while you wait for the food and the employee will bring the food to you. Yummmmy, the flavors! I was in the area after yoga class so I stopped by this food truck since it had been on my To Try list. I try to eat pescatarian when I can, but I also told myself if I try a new restaurant, I would try and order the most popular or delicious dishes for the first time. I actually wanted to try the whole fish (fried) but they were out of fish that evening. So I had to pivot to the next items that stood out. BBQ Wings - These wings were sooo tender, and just fell off the bone. Interestingly, they chose to keep the tip of the wings, which I happily cleaned off, but not something I normally see these days. It came with this green chutney sauce that, at first, I felt was unnecessary since the wings were so juicy. But when I got to the drums, it added a little more moisture and a kick to the meatier part. Overall excellent, but almost $10 for 3 large wings felt a little overpriced. Beef Rendang Curry - The beef in this reminded me of Spicy beef noodle soup, except there were larger chunks. These were packed with flavor, a little bit of spice, some numbing, very tasty. Most of the meat was very tender, although some of the larger chunks got slightly chewy. The pickled cabbage salad with salsa added some much needed acidity, and the potato fritter was delicious as well. Really great experience here - there was no line when I got here and my order actually came out pretty quickly. It's always exciting when more Asian places pop up, and I was super excited to try Yeni's as it's not often one finds Indonesian food in Austin! I am not the most familiar with this cuisine but most everything was well cooked and flavorful. When we visited, we ordered the top 5 menu offerings. Martabak-This reminds me of an Asian breakfast taco as it was stuffed with ground beef, eggs, green onion and tropical spices served with homemade dipping tamarind chili sauce. Instead of a tortilla, it was folded in a fried wonton, you get 2 for $6. Batagor-I wasn't sure what I was eating but I knew it was fried deliciousness. I later looked it up and discovered that the filling was fish, think the cuttlefish balls you might have for hot pot formed into a dumpling and fried. The peanut sauce that it came with was quite tasty and the little red sauce is great if you want an extra kick! Grilled Chick w/yellow rice-I tend to brace myself to expect dry tasting chicken, but I must say Yeni knows how to grill her chicken as it was so tender, and paired well with the kale, which was also tenderly cooked and was soft but still had a nice bite to it. The green sauce was also nice if you wanted to spice things up. Rendang/Beef Curry-I must say I prefer my rendang with a hint of sweetness and this one just tasted more on the heavily spiced side and a bit harder to chew. I also preferred the yellow rice that came with the grilled chicken as the white rice seemed to be a bit too wet for my personal preference. This dish also came with a potato fritter, kale, and a tea soaked boiled egg+same green sauce as the grilled chick. Chicken Porridge-I really liked how the rice was a nice consistency not too watery and not too thick and the chicken was just perfect! However, be prepared that this dish is strongly flavored (honestly a bit too salty for me) but I didn't mind the lemon grass forward flavor profile. Overall, I enjoyed our first experience here, and will probably come back to try more of Yeni's chicken based dishes as these were very tasty! read more

The service here was top notch; I appreciated that they used a buzzer system rather than just calling out names, and Yeni herself came to help pick up after us as we were winding down. Truly above and beyond! We ordered the first three items on the menu (chicken porridge, batagor, and rendang) and they were all a hit! I know porridge doesn't sound super exciting but trust me, it's great! Yeni's is my first experience with Indo food, so I didn't know what to expect. The flavors were definitely good!m, but I think it was a bit pricey for what you get from a food truck. The bakmi is a egg noodle soup with 3 big meatballs that had an interesting chewy texture in quite tasty broth. It was quite noodle-heavy. The grilled chicken has good flavor too, but seemed more stir-fried than grilled. The best way I can describe batagar is like fish balls that are wrapped in deep fried dumpling skin. I thought they were fried to perfection but the flavor of the peanut sauce wasn't what I was looking for. Overall, this is a good food truck with a nice seating area shared by another place with mild music, so it's good to try at least once! So happy I stopped here! Yeni's has been on my bookmarks to try for awhile, but I never seem to be in the neighborhood. Well today I was and let me tell you, Yeni's is interesting & delicious! Unlike anywhere else in Austin. It's a little trailer next to a bar & a tire shop. The owner & people working here are friendly & helpful in explaining the menu. We ordered #1- Chicken w/ porridge is the best way I can describe it (very tasty!), Chicken wings (had to try them), Chicken with yellow rice (the rice is really flavorful.. lemongrass, maybe?), and finally a beef stew like dish. I'm honestly glad that the SEA food scene in Austin is expanding because their food is so delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by Yeni's fusion food. The food was delicious, albeit a little too salty for my liking. But the chili provided was actually spicy, as it should be. The rendang could use a little less salt and a little more spice in my opinion, but the fish was delicious. The only thing was that the food truck barely had any shelter and it was too hot to eat out there, and food was already sold out by 5pm when we got there. This is the first time I had Indonesian food and Yeni's was definitely the way to start it off! I ordered the Batagor (fried dumpling) and Indonesian Fried Rice which included chicken. The Batagor texture reminded me of a fish cake and mochi crossover. Even though it was fried surprisingly it wasn't heavy/oily. The fried rice had an egg and three chicken skewers. The chicken had a good balance of charcoal taste and paired well with the rice. Some bites of the egg were saltier compared to others but didn't affect my experience with Yeni's. read more

OMG this is so good! I had the beef curry and it blows away any thing I had in all my travels in Southeast Asia. My in-laws are from Singapore and we eat this style of food frequently in the Bay Area and I'll take Yeni's over any other place I've eaten. Everything is made from scratch, the owner took my order and her name is on the business which is probably the trifecta for knowing that you're going to get something amazing! I hung out for a beer at The Aristocrat while waiting and Yeni's is popular so I'd recommend going early and not being in a huge rush. So happy to have another great Indonesian food place in Austin! The menu is small, but each item I purchased with my Indonesian companion seems to be delicious and satisfying. Said companion says that this place has legitimately good Indonesian food and was really happy to enjoy the flavors that he couldn't seem to readily get anywhere else. My companion and I only had the belly to finish the batagor (fried wontons) and empal gentong (fusion cream curry soup), but both were delectable. I'm not a coconut cream or milk fan, but the coconut smell was very light and I didn't perceive an overbearing sweet flavor. In fact, I feel pretty certain I could have drank the entire curry soup by myself if it weren't for my companion lol. The brisket meat is plentiful as well, but I actually enjoyed the soup way more than the brisket itself personally. And I remember eating the remainder of the batagor at a later time and wishing we had more to enjoy after we finished it. It was so crispy and chewy... I only had a nibble of the grilled chicken rice dish because I was so full but thought it tasted flavorful as well. I will definitely be back!
