Mama Cozza's has been fixture in Anaheim and a landmark in the area. I first started dining at Cozza's in the 70's and have never been disappointed. The restaurant has an authentic cozy old school family charm. I can't help sitting there while waiting for my meal and thinking that anytime, Michael Corleone may drop in and have his sit down with Sollozo. If you're a fan of store bought sugary sweet jars of pasta sauce, Cozza's may not be the restaurant for you. They offer authentic flavorful sauces, with real ingredients that have been simmered into their sauces. Mama's sauce is the real deal. For the pasta entrees, you first pick you choice of pasta, and then you choose from many different varieties of sauces; e.g. "Meat Sauce, Mama Sauce, Alfredo, Clam..etc." I've had both the Meat Sauce and Mama Sauce over Cannelloni and Spaghetti and both meals were fantastic. My husband has been talking about this restaurant since I met him back in 2015! We finally went last Friday night..I'm not a big Italian fan so when we do go I tend to want to stay a little closer to home. But with all that said I really liked it! I was a little iffy only because it's been so long since my husband had even been .. it's very old school a total local restaurant I think it's been in business since the late 1960's. All the staff were very nice , our server was just so helpful and it made all the difference :) she suggested a few things and they were all good. I had a pizza, delicious.. my husband had a pasta dish he loved it. My Cosmopolitan martinis were strong and yummy. Impressed, yes! Best Italian i've ever had,...umm maybe top 10. This place is somewhat of a classic, especially for those who grew up in the area. We were invited here by friends who have frequented this place for years and I agree with them, the food is quiet good. I opted for chicken Parmesan (one of my go-to's at Italian restaurants) and the portion was huge! A very large piece of chicken (1/2 of which I saved for a 2nd meal the next day) smothered in cheese (perfect if you like that much cheese...I however removed it as it was overload) and I switched the pasta that normally comes with it for broccoli which was perfectly cooked. My meal also started with a bowl of soup and garlic bread. Definitely a great value, tons of food, classic Italian decor, wonderful attentive server and a great evening with friends. Came here because there was a coupon deal, and I will probably be a returning customer! We got there around opening time, and the doors were open a little early actually. We went in, were promptly seated and given a small try of appetizers. I was actually super hungry, so this was greatly appreciated. There were some delicious pickled peppers, some celery and carrot sticks. They have a menu of pastas, pizzas, appetizers, and sides. We ordered pastas so I will write about that. The price on the menu is for the dinner portion which includes a small side salad, bread, and soup. If you choose a la carte, you only get the pasta, which is around ten dollars. The soups were minestrone and then a soup of the day which was clam chowder in my case. The side salad was a standard lettuce, croutons, and garbanzo beans with choice of dressing. The italian dressing was pretty good, and I enjoyed the salad. The garlic bread came after which had cheese and garlic. The taste was good as well but the quality of bread was low. For pastas, you choose what kind of pasta you want and th en the kind of sauce. They said the Mama sauce is a house made tomato sauce which differs from a traditional marinara which is also on the menu. The mushroom sauce is the Mama sauce + mushroom. I ended up getting the primarvera with mama sauce and spinach linguine and a whoel weat sphagetti with vodka sauce. The sauces were superb and the portions were huge. I can tell they put it under a heating lamp, because the top of my sauce looked like it sat there for a bit (they re cooked the whole wheat one because the chef didn't like how it turned out apparently). I guess that shows that they care about the food they put out. My only gripe is that my linguine pasta was not al dente. It was a bit overcooked. The whole wheat by nature is more hard, so it came out al dente. The waitress was really nice and gave us some orange slices with our bill. Service wasn't slow for me! read more

Had dinner tonight with the family at Cozza's. it is a family friendly restaurant. Has that "everyone is welcome feel" Really enjoyed the dinner. They had a spicy corn chowder soup that was particularly tasty. My wife had the Gnocchi. huge portion and very good. I had the cheese ravioli which btw is cheaper than Fast food these days. Also very good with "Mama's sauce". Topped it off with the new strawberry pop-tart cheesecake. We split a piece and it was great! This is a staple in Anaheim. I love their lunch specials, I try to come here whenever I can. It has great food. During lunch time, they only have two serves it looked like, the bar tender and a server and there's alot of people that like To come from lunch. The spaghetti is great, however I wasn't a fan of the pizza, the one we had, had the sausages mixed into the sauce so it was hard to pick it out for my daughter who didn't like it. I have always wanted to try this restaurant and it was not very good. The pizza was bland and the fried Mozzarella tasted like fish. My boyfriends spaghetti with meat sauce was ok but my Alfredo sauce tasted like white macaroni and cheese sauce. The clam chowder was surprisingly delicious here and the appetizer salads are very nice. The service here is good, and the servers and hosts are all friendly! The food for me wasn't the problem as much as the urine stench in the bathroom. I almost threw up all my dinner and had to hold my breath while I used the restroom. I've been here a couple of times, and to be honest the last time I went I sort of pinpointed what I didn't like about the restaurant, and that is that the food does not taste really authentically italian. Twice I've gotten their chicken piccata, it doesn't taste very lemony, it doesn't have capers, it just taste's weird. I love pesto but not a huge fan of theirs, but somebody else might really enjoy it, it's kind of flavorless. Ask about their fried mozzarella it's like giant, it's a huge brick of cheese. read more

I took my girlfriend there a few times over the last few weeks, including valentines Day, and we were both very happy with our experiences there. Mama Cozza's is a fixture on Ball road, just east of Brookhurst., for pert near 50 years. It is comprised of a lounge (bar), restaurant, and banquet room. The parking lot in front is limited. There is ample parking in the back. We walk in ~7:30 on Thursday night. There are framed celebrity photos signed to the owner. The walls are covered with them. There are three women chatting at the register. One grabs menus as soon as we step through the door. She is annoyed that we want to look at and read the photos. Sheesh, the place is 2/3 empty. There isn't a line. What? We move on so as not to be rude. We were sat in the bar area. What an interesting cast of characters in there. The folks all know one another. A dude is setting up in the corner for live music. There is a wee dance area. We were disappointed in the wine list. This place has a full bar, but the wine is limited to Red or white; no specific brands/wineries. We were served an old fashioned relish tray. Celery, carrots, a pickled pepper and olives. FUN. The food was mediocre. Not bad, but not good. Really unremarkable. I would come here in the future to drink and observe the bar life. I'll have a mixed drink next time. The waiters rip me off when giving back change. They did a fast change back trick to make it looked like they gave back the right change. Here was my first time experience: 1) The meal was warm & freshly prepared. Mama Cozza's This restaurant is straight outta the 1970's. Saw them on "Diners Drive Ins and Dives" a season or two ago and knew I had to try it. The restaurant itself is dated and dimly lit. There are two doors, one that enters into a bar on the left with small booths on the right, the other enters into a restaurant area. There is a middle room also that connects them both and may have a private room. The show is called "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives" - and this place is not a diner and not a drive in... Dated pictures, old booths and tables. There is a certain charm here, but updated furniture might be in order for this place. First, the cautions: if you go to an italian restaurant and order fried cheese, then thats what you get. The fried appetizers are just ordinary fried cheese. Also, if anyone from the restaurant is reading, the nozzles in the drink machine should be taken apart and cleaned regularly... Definitely a restaurant where someone can order incorrectly and give a 3-star rating as a result. Now, the reason for the 5 stars: the linguine with white clam sauce. One of the dishes I use to rate italian restaurants in general, the linguine and clams and Moma Cozza's is a big portion and the sauce is delicious. Garlic and olive oil with clam juice and a few spices. Served in a big, big bowl. A developed, perfected recipe. If you area a fan of linguine with clam sauce, you will not be disappointed, just order it with a glass of white wine and, perfection. Highly recommend. The staff at an italian family restaurant can be as interesting as the food and this place seems to be no exception. Friendly and casual attire. Nice place, nice people, nice people at the tables around us. Me being an extroverted New York/DC Italian type I strike up conversations when folks are friendly. The couple behind us had a toddler, maybe just turned two. He was on a mission to explore the place, running around. Mom catches up to him. You know what a two year old baby boy usually does when the Moms catches up and grabs them? They usually scream and cry, but not THIS mom...she was a SMART MOM and so when she grabbed him she swung him upside down, which made him squeal and laugh...so adorable. Anyway, a little while later Upside Down Baby Boy's Mom and Dad leave the restaurant and they make sure Upside Down Baby Boy waves bye bye at us. Naturally we wave bye bye at the cute lil guy. Meanwhile we're having a lovely conversation with the two ladies at the next table over. By the way, the food was out of this world. The Veal Sinatra was incredible, melts in your mouth. The Calamari? This ain't no Olive Garden Calamari...these are huge chunks and rings, and the Marinara sauce has to be made fresh daily because you can taste the freshness. Anyway, the waitress comes by, "how was your dinner" and "by the way, a couple said that they wanted to take care of you guys' check, they already left the restaurant and wanted to be anonymous." It's a small local spot, we thought we would try while in town. Our waitress, Jami gave us great recommendations. The service was excellent. I had Olivias salad and it was delicious, hubby had garden salad and it was ok. Chicken Pisano was fabulous, not sure what the gravy is but it was delicious. I would certainly order it again. It comes with a side of spaghetti with mommas sauce and it was excellent. I'm not a huge red sauce fan but I loved it. Hubby had Veal Fellini and said was amazing.
