Prime rib grilled cheese and fries

In all the years I've lived in Batavia, I've never been here. Maybe it was the name, location? I don't know. But clearly I've been sleeping on this place. The menu is super overwhelming. And does make you wonder how they could possibly serve such a wide variety of food "freshly made". We decided to stick to that day's special. Boy am I glad I did. Prime rib grilled cheese with horsey sauce was exceptional. Service was fantastic. We have been trying not to eat out as often as we used to but this place will definitely be on my rotation when we do.

Of all the years I've passed this place, I've never eaten here. Until yesterday. Not at all what I expected. Did you know they serve wine? And beer? Yea. And check out the gigantic slices of baklava. Yea. I NEVER order cheeseburgers when I'm out to eat (weirdo, I know) but something told me to order that yesterday. Did not disappoint in any way. This place is clean, plenty of parking, food was severed very fast and service was amazing. I'm not in this area often but when I get this way, I'll be excited about trying this place again. A really great surprise right off the highway.

Gone way down hill. Several of my friends that used to use Mama's regularly have quit, including myself. Quality way down, prices way high.

You are encouraged to order ahead online (which must be done by 9am Sundays for the Wed pickup). They do have some stuff for onsite purchase, but it is first come first serve! My favorite Blue Oven product has always been the English Muffin. Second to that is any croissant they make. Recently I tried the almond croissant and coconut croissant which is now my #1 flavor. They are huge, flaky, buttery, and have yumminess in the center! I finally got to try one of their scones, which has now ruined me for any other scones... spinach cheddar, wow. Finally my newest favorite item is their Spinach Kale pesto bread with cheese. I look forward to Wednesdays just for this bread! Don't forget the Italian hub cap which is huge and a bread staple! I like it with an olive oil dip or garlic butter! Beyond their goodies, for the mini market they have teamed up with Roothouse Aquaponics to provide greens, and Old Dutch Farm to provide meat, poultry, eggs, and maple syrup! All the businesses accept card (some for a small fee) or cash. They all also take pre-orders on their websites! Beyond this location, you can find Blue Oven goodies at such places as Jungle Jims, ETC produce, and more! Check their website for details!

Bumping this down one star for a very unfortunate reason:…read more I woke up this morning craving some of the delicious bread I bought Saturday, only to discover that my Froagies already had mold on them. I don't expect natural, homemade food to last forever, but I do expect it to stay fresh for longer than two days. Last week, I purchased Froagies as well, and they became moldy four days later. When fresh, the Froagies are delightful, but I certainly can't eat an entire package before it goes bad. Splurging on $6.00 bread that ends up in the trash bin makes me cringe. Perhaps these need to be packaged differently? Perhaps smaller portions need to be offered? The other bread I purchased in big, round loaves is still fresh and going strong. As much as I loved those Froagies, sadly, I won't be buying any more.

It was a small space but feels like a diner from an old movie. It was cozy and fun! I got the Tealside Slammer with scrambled eggs, potato cakes, and upgraded the standard pancake to a waffle with brown sugar butter. It's one of my favorite meals I've had this year. I've never had potato cakes before, so now I am on a mission to learn how to make them from home. The eggs were buttery and fluffy - I loved them. The sausage tasted just like how my grandma makes it. The waitress (who was super bubbly and friendly!) suggested I get the brown sugar butter with my waffle and she was so right. I've never had something like that, but there is no going wrong with brown sugar or butter - the combination of the two obviously is amazing! I can't wait to go back and try even more on the menu!

They serve breakfast all day. It's usually busy whenever I go for dinner around 5 or 6pm but service is quick. It might be hard to navigate and find a seat because it's a small place. The string lines are cute. They have music playing and Pixar movies on the TV. My favorite is the Sweet Brunch Sandwich. I also really like their biscuits and sausage gravy. Their home fries have the perfect amount of crispiness. I've tried other things on the menu and it's all been decent. Their flavored iced coffee was not great, though. I mean it's a diner so it's not like... super fancy and I wouldn't exactly say it's worth going out of your way for. I gave a bonus star for the service :)

My second visit ... a 4-star experience…read more I sat in the dining room this visit - restrained rural chic. Good job. It is all hard surfaces and the music was a tad too loud (reduced upon request) and the two young infants were busy being infants ... cranky/noisy. Jayla was our server. Prompt and appropriately engaging and attentive. Unlike the prior visit, the chili was sufficiently warm when served and the spice level has improved, kind'a, sort'a like Wendy's spice level, but more flavorful - that is intended as a compliment. My buddy ordered the Italian sandwich w/roasted vegetables. The sandwich struck me as small-ish. The portion of roasted vegetables was generous. He liked both. The only disappointment this visit ... the hamburger bun utterly disintegrated after the third bite. They are proud that everything is scratch-made in house ... but this bun was a fail. I finished my burger w/fork and knife. When cashing out, the manager apologized and admitted that they had not sufficiently proofed the dough. Um; okay, so why serve a known problem? Minus 1-star. First visit: Yelp says that 3-stars is Okay. This was a 2.5-star experience that I am forgiving and rounding up to 3-stars. I sat at the counter to better gauge the tempo. The server arrived promptly with a menu, and my water appeared swiftly. It was refilled once by staff, twice by me. Inattention? Training? I ordered the single patty burger and upgraded the fries to a crock of chili. The chili was what I would describe as Ohio-mild. Not bland, just mild seasoning. The ingredients included beans (yay!) and the texture was good. The bad news: It was not hot. Not even warm. Mostly lukewarm, but four spoonfuls were cold. Yes, cold. And nobody' ever inquired if I was happy with the chili - or the burger. The menu mentions "weekly soup special." Chili was the weekly special. I am guessing that a pot of chili is kept in the cooler and only warmed(? microwaved?) when ordered. In the pic you will The burger is excellent. It was properly seasoned (not over- salted). The sesame bun was expertly toasted. The sauce is tasty and the portion was just right. The greens were a spring mix - another miss. The burger deserves cool crisp lettuce. I was not asked how I wanted the burger cooked ... it is a hand-formed thin patty, cooked on a flat top. It arrived well done, but not dried out. I would have preferred medium-rare, but was never asked. That said, I would happily order the burger again, but there is so much more on the menu that I want to try. The fries. I upgraded from fries to the chili for $2. Yet fries were also served. I am not a fries guy, primarily because I don't care for salt or carbs. These were made in house and if you like salted fries, you will probably be VERY happy with them. The ambiance is rural chic, nicely done and not what I expected to find in Blanchester. The woman working the register asked me to pay before my burger/entree was served. When I deferred, explaining that I would pay after my burger was served and consumed, she asked the kitchen about my burger and the reply from the grill suggested that my order was forgotten. When it arrived, it included fries that it should not have been plated (paid $2 to upgrade to chili. Summary: Great space. Great recipes. Great ingredients. Too many people/process problems. Will I return? Yes. I want to see if the problems are an aberration or endemic.

Locally raised meat, locally grown vegetables, and even their own house-made bread. You can taste the care in every bite. I ordered the Brunch Burger, and it was outstanding. Two grass-fed beef smash patties, grilled to perfection, topped with a farm-raised egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion, all stacked on a fresh, house-made brioche bun. Even as a smash burger, it was still incredibly juicy and flavorful. It came with fresh-cut fries that were crisp, hot, and the perfect side. What really impressed me, though, was their Pay It Forward menu. For $15, you can pay for a meal for someone in need. That's not just good food -- that's a business looking out for its community, and I respect that. If you're looking for a great smash burger from a place doing things the right way, Harvester Farm to Table is absolutely worth the drive to Blanchester, Ohio. This is farm-to-table done right.

Every dish was unique and packed with flavor. The lobster may be the best in town--buttery, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The short rib mac and cheese was pure comfort food elevated to another level, with rich, melted cheese and a side of homemade tomato sauce that added an unexpected burst of flavor. The real surprise of the night was the potato cake. Whether it's a secret menu item or not, it deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The combination of crispy potato cake, creamy goat cheese, and sweet apple butter was absolutely incredible and unlike anything we've had before.
