Ventured away from our usual Italian restaurant and tried dinner here and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming starting with the hostess to the waiter, waitress and busboy. They had a dinner menu that had a limited yet vast selection of items to suit what you were in the mood for. They brought bread, butter and I believe, an olive tapenade, Which was surprising and so good! We chose their bruschetta for an appetizer, it was delicious and fresh, I would have preferred more olive oil but that's just my preference. I chose a pasta and chicken dish, my husband chose the rib-eye. Our meals were delicious, the chicken was grilled and flavorful and my husband was not disappointed with his steak and really enjoyed it. It got a little stuffy where we sat, like the AC had turned off but next time I'll know to ask to sit outside or closer to the bar, it definitely felt cooler in there. I had the porchini sacchettis, which I found delightfull but still had room for pistachipo geleato. Our first time here & went off the reviews. I have to say everything was chef's kisses! For starters we had the mozzarella cheese balls. I had the grilled chicken with fettuccine butter noodles and the chicken was so soft & just so much flavor. My husband had the ribeye & salad which was so good as well we kept sharing bites of each. We ended our dinner with some desserts to go & had a bite of the peanut butter pie & it didn't stand a chance it was like butterfinger ice cream but so light & creamy.... Let me just start off by saying that it is by RESERVATION ONLY. had I known that before walking in and treated like they simply didn't have the means to serve us, I would've went to Fruggatis. We had no reservation but were there to celebrate a birthday. They were able to seat us without a reservation but the waitress was being kind of difficult about it, the bartender was the most gracious one in this establishment. (thank goodness for him) Now to the food, we got a bread basket with butter which was nice. I did notice that the table next to us got bread and this olive oil mixture which we would have also liked. For an appetizer we got the margarita flatbread which with all the toppings and sauce tasted pretty good. My only issue with this plate was the bread itself, it did get a soggy because it wasn't toasted enough or at all. For our entrees we got the marinara Bolognese with penne which was okay. I ordered the white sauce pasta with penne.... I was really hoping it would've been a lot creamier. Honestly I was greatly disappointed by my plate because I was expecting a nice thick sauce and more flavor, but what I got was a safe light pasta that was sauces with butter and garlic which was more oily than it was tasty. All in all we expected more from restaurant as far as service and food quality were concerned. Quite frankly we did feel discriminated against by a staff member and the other patrons, but sure if it's because we had no reservation but if it was really that much of an issue I did tell the waitress we could've gone elsewhere. Service was painfully slow. We were practically forgotten as we were parked towards the back. After waiting for a while we flagged someone down to have em come and at least take our drink order. Very simple only two waters. Well that took a while. Meanwhile, the room was so loud you could barely talk to each other. Finally the girl comes to take our order and seemed very very rushed. We order and wait and wait and wait. No one came by in the interim to refill waters. We had to flag and ask. Food was very disappointing. The porcini dish might as well have been an app as it only had 7 small one inch sized pasta " packets" ( shaped like a shuttlecock in badminton). Flavor was just not there. Others in our party got the fettuccine and mentioned it was just ok. They're other places in town that'll serve you a full solid legit proper portion of food for the price you pay here. It's not worth paying $22 for 7 tiny bite sized pieces of food that don't even come with soup or salad. Absolutely NOT WORTH IT. it's very very loud in the joint. Food was just not good at all. Service was slow and slower with stuck in the middle. Save your money and go to pasta bowls on ming Ave. Not only are the portions per person big enough to feed two, the pasta is piping hot and flavor is on point. The best part is that they also give you a very durable microwave take out container with a lid that'll last you forever. read more

Oh Mamma Mia - What a hit in downtown Bakersfield. Nelson the owner has brought it to the table and his food is phenomenal. Nelson came out and chatted about our food and made several suggestions. It was apparent he takes great pride in his dishes. I had the filet mignon and it was perfectly cooked and had great seasoning. The side of penne pasta with the bolognese was delicious. My wife enjoyed her veal osso bucco ravioli. It consisted of fresh egg and saffron ravioli stuffed with the veal covered with nice chunky marinara sauce. It was light but perfectly portioned. The entire restaurant is quaint and creates a homey feel. I can not wait to come back and try the rest of Nelson's menu. This place was a hit and I will be back. read more

We live downtown and recently have noticed a growing crowd every night of the week at this restaurant so we decided that we needed to try it. We already have our favorite Italian restaurants that we normally go so in order for us to really like this place it was going to have to be really really good. Starting with the bread and dipping sauce I could've gone home satisfied just having the olive dipping sauce. I ordered the Fillet Medium rare and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned very nicely. The dish came with a side of pasta which the server was gracious enough to suggest I try two different styles of pasta sauce. Missy ordered the Spare Rib ravioli and I was so grateful she was unable to eat it all because it was delicious. Went tonight, a Thursday, at 5:30. We started at the bar and got cocktails immediately. We moved to a table in the bar and that's where things fell apart. One of us got a water but it took 20 minutes for her to get a cocktail. The other two got water AFTER we already ate. I asked for a wine list when we ordered appetizers but didn't get one until after we ate. Now for the food. The calamari, sausage and flatbread were all fantastic. Came to eat here on the patio on a Thursday night. I liked how people were seated apart from each other, but the mister was more like a sprayer. Here's what we tried: The calamari frita with a lemon caper cream sauce, which comes in squares. The sauce was really good, but the crispy batter kept sliding off the calamari, and I wish the calamari itself was more tender and less tough. The bread basket was a little sad. The bread itself was a bit stale and nothing special, but the olive spread was interesting and different. I ordered the Spaghetti Barese / Bolognese with sausage and peppers - I got this "half and half" so that half of it came with "white sauce," but the white sauce seemed to be just oil. I wish I had gotten it as it is without any alteration, because the Bolognese sauce was quite flavorful, but the dish ended up swimming in oil because of the "white sauce". If I come here again, I would might get this again, but without any alterations. My partner ordered one of the daily specials which was the tomahawk steak - which he enjoyed. He split it with a friend, and they ended up eating almost the whole thing, which is crazy because the portion was huge. Definitely larger than it looks in the picture. He asked for it medium rare, and it came out very rare. But this wasn't a big deal, since we could have asked for it to be cooked a little more, but we didn't. So that's on us. But he also said he would pass on it in the future. For those interested, it ended up being $90 for the steak, and it comes with a side. The service is what bumps this place up from 3 stars to 4 stars for me. Our server was really attentive, he came by several times to make sure we had everything we wanted, to clear plates, refill drinks, and was positive and friendly. I felt like he took good care of us, and didn't leave us wanting for anything. Overall, I'd be open to coming here again if someone really wanted to, but there are a lot of other places I'd rather try first. read more

We even ignored the smell, which wasn't bad bad, but it wasn't good. Italian restaurants need to do pasta and this was terrible. Over cooked and water at the bottom of the bowl.
