The quality was honestly excellent -- rich espresso, perfectly balanced matcha, and lattes that looked and tasted like they came from a specialty café. I had so many guests tell me how impressed they were. The churros were fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious -- both kids and adults loved them. What I appreciated most was how smoothly everything ran. She handled the flow of guests effortlessly and added such a fun, elevated touch to what was a children's birthday party. I was a bit confused with finding this bakery because I didn't realize it was inside of a Gelson's grocery store! It also has a new name and is called Mamolo's. I must admit that I was weary at first, but glad I took a chance. I ordered a fruit tart and raspberry chocolate cheesecake, and both were delicious! Everything was tasty and fresh! They had a good variety of individual pastries and whole cakes too, so there is sure to be something for everyone! I stopped by Mamolo's to order a couple of cakes for Passover. When I walked in, the store was empty except for two women ahead of me. I took a number and waited my turn. Shortly after, an older man walked up and stood at the counter. When the employee came over, she first addressed the two women, who indicated they were fine and she could help me next. Instead, she went straight to the man at the counter and asked if he needed help. I explained that I was next, but she dismissed it and said he had been waiting at the counter first. He ordered a cup of coffee. I was very disappointed in the employee's response. It felt unfair and dismissive. Also, I was very disappointed in the other customers who clearly saw what had happened and failed to speak up. I left without ordering and won't be returning. read more

Viktor Benes always comes through for us! I've ordered numerous cakes here over the years. They have always been lovely. I'll order lemon cakes for my grandma when Susie Cakes runs out of lemon curd early in the season and chocolate cakes for my Dad. I've also purchased many holiday themed cakes and football themed cookies as well. Recently, I had the opportunity to try one of their fresh fruit tarts. I always find them to be so beautiful. It was gifted to my son and he shared it with me. Soooo yummy! Highly recommend as an elegant treat for someone. I've also discovered the day old section to have the most insane apple fritter donuts two pack. These reheated in the toaster oven are sinfully delicious. Probably the best I've ever had. Thanks to this location's cake experience, the new joke in our household now is: "Do you want a cake with or without mold?" Just look at the pictures! A few months ago, I purchased pastry that was not fresh and I tossed out $45 worth of eclairs, tiramisu, and chocolate cake. This time, I called and asked if they had freshly baked German Chocolate cake; I was assured "we bake our cakes fresh daily." Skeptical, I asked again: "Is the German Chocolate Cake fresh?" I was reassured. I cut the cake and first served it to my father, who is 87 years old. Then I took a bite and spit it out because all I could taste was mold. The entire top layer below the frosting had mold. Not only is the staff trained to lie, but this place needs to be shut down as it is a health hazard. My favorite viktor benes bakery throughout the valley! I've been coming here since I was 5 and would always get a ladybug cookie after school on Fridays. They're my favorite cookies ever and the bakery workers have always been so nice and friendly and still are. Over the last 15 years I've been coming less often but would still get my ladybug cookie. It seemed for awhile they were no longer making them and I said to my mom I missed the ladybug cookies. I'm not sure if it was an owner, manager or what but he said he had forgot about those and that they'd start making them again. The cakes are delicious, fresh and fluffy, yet not too overwhelming and sweet. The cookies and cupcakes are always a hit with the children. The head baker always designs my baked goods exactly how I ask. The front staff are friendly and very helpful to help you plan and order what you need. This was my first time at this location. Firstly, the guy who helped me seemed impatient and didn't seem like he cared to talk or help me. Anyway, I told him to give me a Napoleon then I asked for a sample of a cookie which was great. I chose two different cookies and paid. But what I got in the bag was not fresh at all. The Napoleon was dry and the cookies were also not that fresh. I think what they do is put the fresh stuff in the front part of the tray in the display and the older ones in the back, so he served me the older cookies and Napoleon. I will NOT be coming to this location ever again. I always go to the Calabasas location, and I have never ever been disappointed in all the years I've shopped there.
