Make sure to join the Yelp Waitlist beforehand, especially on weekends to avoid even longer wait times. 'Crying Tiger': the steak was grilled to the perfect medium. It paired really nicely with the citrusy/savory dipping sauce, and added a new flavor profile to the dish! 'Crab Fried Rice': I really appreciated the generous amount of crab and egg they put on top of the bed of fried rice. Simple, but I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought! The crying tiger and crab fried rice are a MUST for me - they pair so well together, like step aside PB&J because THIS is the iconic combo that the people NEED. The sauce that comes with the crying tiger is elite and there's sooo much crab in the crab fried rice. The natural essence of the green leafy vegetable was still intact. We did order it with the crispy pork belly. Yum! Being a birthday dinner -- they gave us on the house Coconut Ice Cream, which is a vegan dessert. It had many types of jellos and the taste of coconut was creamy. I will definitely order this again when I go with my boyfriend, who has a dairy allergy. The parking can be a little difficult due to being in a strip mall with not a lot of spaces. Not my favorite. I thought I got lucky when I saw the Yelp waitlist was less than 45 minutes. Although I was still 17th in line, it gave us time to drive over. We were met with limited parking since there are so many restaurants in the plaza. The interior was very clean and chic with so many people dining in. We ordered the green curry that was rich in flavor with a mild kick of spice. Since the consistency wasn't very thick, the curry would slide off the roti and drip on your hands. The ribeye also wasn't very tender and required quite a bit of chewing. What really affected the experience, was the temperature. It was EXTREMELY hot and almost boiling, which the waitstaff did not warn me about. I actually burned my mouth, and even spitting it out burned my hand. While eating the Pad Thai, it had decent flavor but almost no spice (which was not offered at any other spice level). The whole time, I kept thinking it reminded me of something else, and eventually realized it tasted much more like Pad See Ew. They didn't offer chicken, so we tried the crispy pork belly, which was something more unique off the menu. The meat was hard (I thought I chewed bone), and I didn't think it paired well with the dish. I ended up dipping it in the curry to soften it and add more flavor. I've only ever ordered take out due to the wait but finally went in to eat. The portions seem larger than the takeout? Maybe I'm just comparing the pork jowl I love so much. I took some coworkers, one who was from out of town, and they loved it so much. It has something for everyone and had them try khao soi for the first time. They were in love with the food and want to come back. I had a vegetarian and pescatarian in the group, so it's definitely diverse in food options. The food is flavorful and fresh. Inside is nicely decorated and I spotted many cute toys. Parking is a bit small but it's doable. Do expect some wait if you come at prime dinner time, even on weekdays. My only gripe is that even thought a few of us came early to get a table, since others came a little late driving from far away, they would not seat us until everyone was here. So once everyone arrived, I had to tell them and wait again. At least we didn't have to wait too long but maybe an extra 15m? So there is no point in trying to grab a table early. Came here to catch up with a friend. Staff were super welcoming and we were seated and given water super quickly. Place was busy but not too noisy. It was my first time here and everything was so good. The only small complaint is it may be hard to find parking during busy hours. Some people went into the neighborhood to street park and I parked elsewhere and walked over. Khao Soi- 10/10, I love khao soi and I love how they make it here. It wasn't too sweet and had the right amount of spice. The braised beef was soft and the flavors meshed well. Papaya Salad: 10/10, I don't always order this but decided to try it here and quite liked it. We got it at medium spice and it definitely had a kick. It was crisp, fresh, and flavorful. Drunken Noodles: 8/10, my least favorite of the items I ordered but still good. It was less flavorful than the other dishes but still had a good amount of flavorful. We usually go to Kean coffee in Tustin and saw this Thai restaurant across the street. Asked a Thai friend if she'd tried it and she said it was her favorite Thai restaurant because not only is the food good but that it's very authentic. Manaao Thai Comfort Food is an extremely popular Thai restaurant located in Tustin, recently they doubled in size, yet the wait to get a table here is often 30+ minutes. Fortunately I work close by and was able to add my name to the Yelp app wait list. My group ordered several items to share. Khao soi noodles ($20) - This yellow curry based soup dish contained egg noodles, braised beef (other meat options available), and was topped with red onions, lime, pickled mustard, and crispy egg noodles. It was perfectly executed and tasted incredible! Papaya salad (som tum - $15) - Made with green papaya, fresh chiles, garlic, dried shrimp, peanuts, long beans and tomatoes this dish really wowed me. Every time I have had papaya salad it's been such a huge let down, however this tasted so fresh and was delicious. Thai Iced tea ($6) - This was extremely refreshing and had a wonderful spiced tea base and was creamy made with half and half milk. Sweet roti ($7) - this is basically parata (fried tortilla) with condensed milk sprinkled on top. Nothing special about this dish. Rice balls in coconut cream & coconut ice cream ($15) - The coconut ice cream was vegan so wasn't as creamy. And the rest of the dish was just a lightly warm and sweetened milk with some rice balls. I wasn't impressed. Overall the desserts were a major let down and I wouldn't have even ordered them, except for my co-worker who wanted dessert. The Thai food scene in LA has lost some of its spark lately, which is what prompted me to trek all the way down to OC to try Manaao. Social media has been buzzing about this spot and for good reason. The food is absolutely spectacular, packed with bold, full-bodied flavors and plenty of variety. We ordered about seven dishes between four people, and every single one hit the mark. The standout was definitely the Chu Chee Curry with Fried Catfish Filet, a beautifully fried, crispy catfish filet resting on a bed of white rice, swimming in a thick, creamy, and divine curry sauce. I'd honestly go back just for this dish. The Creamy Tom Yum was another highlight...authentic, balanced, and deeply flavorful. Easily one of the best Thai meals I've had in a long time. The waitlist opened around 11:30am. For a party of four, we put our names down and waited about 45 minutes. The list grew to over 30 people, so I highly recommend joining the list before you arrive. The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and comfortable. The only downside was the service..our server seemed disinterested and rushed through our order when we asked for recommendations. We went to Manaao on a Friday night, and while it was definitely busy, the wait wasn't too bad at all and we were seated in about 25 minutes. From the start, the service really stood out. The host and our server were both super friendly, quick, and efficient, which made the whole experience feel smooth even during a busy time. For food, everything we ordered was genuinely delicious. I wanted to try another Thai restaurant because my go to was closed today and I was craving Thai food. After so many great reviews and videos I watched, we decided to go here. We waited around 20 minutes on Monday night, not too bad. You have to check in either through yelp or they have a little kiosk when you walk in to put your name & party size. The papaya salad was refreshing and had the right amount of heat for me (we got mild). The crispy pork belly was a good addition but I think I would just get as it, just the plain papaya salad. The most anticipated dish was the khao soi noodle, we picked the braised beef and it was so tender! Broth was creamy and rich. I really enjoyed the pad thai more though. Although the food was delicious, I had to give my rating a 4 star review because of the customer service. The initial service was great but after we received the food....no one, not even our server checked up on us to see how we were doing, if we enjoyed our food, or even get a refill in our waters. (they only refilled once but glasses are so small, we finished right away) We had to call the hostess to get our server's attention. I understand it was busy so we took that into consideration as well, but it is just disappointing that a restaurant with such great food and ambiance doesn't have the equivalent customer service with it. Even today when I went, we added ourselves to the waitlist when it opened at 11:30am and were still #29 in line with an hour wait. When it was our turn, we were seated promptly which I appreciated. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and interior decor, and a step up from most humble Thai restaurants. Considering how much I hear people rave about this place, I was a bit underwhelmed. The green curry here with ribeye beef is my favorite so far, and the pad Thai is also really good, but I think mild is better than no spice for this dish. I really like the sticky rice to go with the green curry and wish it was an option that cost just a few dollars more rather than having to get it as a separate order, since we don't like the roti or the vermicelli and sticky rice is our go-to over regular white rice. The staff are very efficient and the online ordering system works very well. Might have to do street parking because the parking lot is a little bit limited. The mango sticky rice is decent, though not particularly standout compared to other dishes. The only downside has been the service. Since the restaurant has grown in popularity, the attentiveness has definitely slipped. On more than one occasion, we weren't checked on, my roti was forgotten entirely, and even our meat order came out wrong. It also took some effort to get the server's attention. We arrived just before opening and we got on the wait list. At opening, they started sitting parties right away. We sat down and picked out our dishes. I chose the northern pork belly curry and grilled squid. My wife ordered the creamy tom yum with shrimp, green curry with rib eye and roti, and a side of sticky rice. I noticed they came out with the orders quickly. The food was incredible. The pork belly was tender and the curry was more of a thin broth. However, it was very tasty. I also enjoyed the fried squid and the green curry. Food portions are great and we have leftovers for lunch. I highly recommend this place and you will enjoy the nice ambience, the solid service, and the great food. Five stars! read more

This place has been on my list for the last 2 years - finally was in the Tustin area and decided to check it out! There is a Yelp waitlist, I recommend joining it on the app rather than trying to walk in. We joined on a busy Sunday lunch rush around 12:15PM and the wait was 1 hour, table was ready by 1:15PM. We ordered their popular items: khao soi with soft shell crab, crab fried rice, and green curry with beef and roti. Khao soi was very flavorful and the soft shell crab was nice and crunchy and added great texture. We always love the flavor profile of khao soi - this is in our top two places for khao soi! The crab fried rice was a surprise favorite for us (we normally don't get fried rice because it's a filler, but the waiter highly recommended!). It was strong in crab flavor and you can see how much crab they put in it - they definitely don't skimp! Green curry with beef and roti was also very good. We usually prefer red or yellow curry, but the green curry was a nice way to mix it up and the beef was nice and tender. We wanted to try a new drink and the longan juice caught our eye. It reminded me of the viet Che Sam Bo luong so if you're into that flavor, you'll like it. Not my favorite personally but glad I got to try it out of curiosity! The interior is cute with lime (manaao!) wallpaper and boho lamps. Definitely a trendy place with good Thai food that lives up to the hype! Will have to come back to try their pad thai and chicken wings nexts! read more

This was our first time dining here, and overall, it was a solid experience. The food was good -- fresh flavors and well-prepared dishes. I wanted the mango sticky rice, which I was really looking forward to, but unfortunately, mangoes weren't in season. A bit of a letdown, but understandable. Wait times were definitely on the longer side, but we were lucky to have checked in ahead on the Yelp app, which helped speed things up. Service was decent -- nothing standout, but friendly and efficient enough. Ambiance was a highlight: the space is bright, clean, and welcoming. They also have a great beer selection, which was a nice surprise. We'd come back again, especially when mango season comes around. read more
