First Visit: At the recommendation of friends, I ordered a large cheese pizza for pick up last Friday. I waited in my vehicle about 10 minutes after my designated arrival time before it was brought out. Upon returning home, I realized the pizza was stone cold, even the box didn't have the slightest bit of warmth. I called the store and they said there was nothing they could do unless I wanted them to make it again. I didn't want to go back. The manager was supposed to call me but didn't. Our experience dining in a few weeks ago was not good. There were 4-5 waiting staff working that night. I arrived with my toddler daughter, who was very hungry, first and was sitting for 15 minutes with no one coming to our table table. It was odd as there is only about six tables in the front room. My wife and infant then came in and had to ask someone to come and take our order. It took another 10 minutes to get our waters. I saw they had takeout orders but it's not appropriate to ignore patrons right in front of you. I do not appreciate my time being disrespected when there was adequate staffing available. We messaged the business to voice our concerns about the staff and we were to first told that our message hadn't been seen (even though it was on "read" the first time we sent them a message). We were then told a manager would get back to us. It has been over a week and we still haven't heard from them. We were willing to give them a second chance cause maybe they had an off night, but after the poor lack of communication now we cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

I stopped in for a white pizza to go. The staff were helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was attractive, and I'm sure their food must be pretty good in general. However, my $24 pizza was not good. The crust seemed flat, flavorless, too salty, and overworked, the topping flavors very one-note. I keep wanting to like this place but this is the second time I've been disappointed. read more

My son and I got an ice cream at Ben and Jerry's and decided to stop in for some pizza. We sat down close to the door and watch as several employees ignored us. Despite the fact that nobody came to our table I decided to wait because my son was extremely hungry. After 10 minutes and still nobody came to help I decided it was time to go. I was very reluctant to even go here as the prices are extremely high but I was willing to give them a chance. After this horrible experience I would never go back. It took us a while to check them out because my husband and I aren't too crazy about pizza. *acid reflux* It was my daughter's 6th birthday and her only request for her special day was pizza. She wanted dominos but that was definitely out of the question. We trekked up to Davidson to try Mandolino's and the parents who normally begrudgingly eat pizza, chowed down! My husband described the pizza as something nostalgic because it reminded him of Pizza Hut's pan pizza circa 1990. He means that as a compliment back when PH's pizza was really good. Since our intial visit we've been back twice and order the same pizza each time, The Bonamassa. We also like the fried calamari and I look forward to trying the Snack Board soon. I dislike giving bad reviews. I dislike even more bad pizza (from NY). First took a long time to give order (Only one there ate outside) as a matter of fact I walked back in to place order. Came out at best warm middle cold. After a few bites walked it back to have reheated no sign of help.. Came out warmer but not hot. Pizza dough is critical to great pizza. This simply was card board. The only time in my life I removed some pepperoni from a pizza simply to many and to salty. A great serving says one slice but you get 2. But sorry they could have given me 5 slices. Four bites 20% tip and I was out of there never to go back. Should have listened to my baby brother he warned me a few years ago. Went in yesterday & the restaurant was empty...this should have been my first red flag. The server was friendly & immediately took our drink order & then heard a loud bang and the pizza peel had fallen off of the wall onto the ground & someone in the back picked it up & put it right back on its hook with out it being cleaned . The cooks in the back had gloves on but then we're touching their phones, drink cups, and hat/hair. They lack cleanliness in the worst way. The salads were brought out but not before a quick stop at another table to sprinkle pepper on them (so gross, the plates should never stop at another table on the way from the kitchen to its destination). The pizza was brought out & it was undercooked & well done at the exact same time (I know it seems impossible but they managed to make it happen). It was watery and yet burnt to a crisp on the bottom. Our pizza had black olives on it which I managed to bite into two pits even though they were quartered. The pizza alone was $28 (which we left 80% of it there on the table, there is no way I was bringing that home). All in all I will never go back to this establishment, I would rather have a frozen pizza from the grocery store. read more

Excellent pizza, the crust is a perfect blend of chewy and crispy and all ingredients are really fresh. It is a little higher priced than most pizza places, but for just a few more bucks it is worth it for the quality of ingredients and their pizzas are very large. I am a African American female and went to the pizza shop with my son and nephew. We all had our mask on. We were told to step outside , which wasn't a problem until, two different Caucasian men went to the counter where the pizza was. Neither one of the men had or donde there face mask. Neither of the Caucasian men were asked to step outside like we were. I felt offended and disrespected by the pizza shop. Since the pizza was paid for we took off pizza and we left. I live in Davidson, love the pizza from Mandolino's BUT on multiple occasions have had to deal with bad delivery services. Initially they delivered themselves (received multiple pizzas that looked like they'd been tossed around the car). Now they use services like DoorDash. These services don't allow you to customize your pizza (in my case, simply wanted 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni). So, I called and was told "we don't deliver but will take your name and make sure to make it half and half". Well.. got my $26 pulse tax $35 pizza... yep, all pepperoni. So, I called to complain. I was told by a manager, call DoorDash. I said it isn't their issue.. was then told, we can make you a new one if you want to come pick it up. WTF. The whole point was to have it delivered. I was then asked, what do you want us to do? REALLY?? I'm done. Might be great over priced pizza but I'm done and will make sure to tell friends my experience. Piss poor Mandolino's. read more

Ok, so I was looking forward to a good pizza, since that and salads are all that is on the menu. Pizza was ok, but I really like a good pizza sauce, and this pie had none...... not too little, none. Toppings, I ordered the Pigs on the wing speciality pie, but I could not see very much sweet sausage or taste it. Good atmosphere, good service, but the pizza is not. Also, order wine by the bottle, because the pour was extremely slim. Won't be back too soon. Alinos is a much better bet. Walked over to Flat Iron for a full glass of wine after we finished. read more

Lovely new place for Davidson. Stopped by for lunch on Sunday with my hubby and two little kids. Everyone (including other patrons!) were so friendly and welcoming. I just loved the atmosphere there. Hannah was our server and she was great. She walked us they the menu options and we ended up sharing the arugula salad and the loveit pizza. So delicious! My 3 year old wanted ice cream, so we topped off our meal with gelato which was also delicious. I will admit, I miss the old Millstone bakery that used to be in this location, but I am happy to know I can still get some yummy carbs here! Love this spot in Davidson! The decor is comfortable and inviting. Great for families. Their salads are huge and delicious. Their pizza is also great. They have a lot of menu options, with an option to build your own pizza. However, I also recommend trying one of their pizza creations from the menu, as they are unusual + delicious. Excellent pizza, excellent service. Even though the place was crawling with Davidson parents dropping off their kids (we were among them) the servers, owners, and kitchen handled the chaos well, pulling up extra chairs when friends joined. My favorite pizza was the one I ordered as an extra because I wanted to try it: Tupelo Honey. Turns out all of my meat eating compatriots also enjoyed it--it was the most eaten pizza at he table.
