Came here as a group of 4 post Fri night dinner, since the place stays open till late. When you get there, you input your party into a virtual waitlist and you receive a text when your table is ready. Luckily, we waited about 10 min before we got seated, but parties after us ended up leaving because there weren't any seats opening up. There aren't many large group tables, so this place is best for a smaller party. We got a few things to share, including their classic A3 - Snow White Mango Juice Sago & Pomelo With Mango Ice Cream and their Combo D, which comes with a pot of tea. We poured a cup for each person on the table and refills to the pot were allowed. Unfortunately, the mangos weren't in season yet, so they were extremely tart. Great service for a packed house. As the years pass, I've grown to love mangoes more and more and I enjoy going to dessert places specializing in mango desserts. I've been to Mango Mango but the experience this time around was disappointing. The mango was super unripe and you could tell when they served it. The mangoes were a pale yellow instead of the deep golden yellow I expected. We got the Mango Mango Combo A, which came with the special mango juice sago & pomelo with mango ice cream, mango juice with mango & black rice, and mango mille crepe cake. The special needed the sweetness and flavor of the mango to shine, and because it was lacking in both, it felt quite tart and unsatisfying. The mangoes in the black rice item were also unripe, but the mango juice helped combat the tartness. Our favorite of the three was the crepe cake since it didn't rely on the freshness of the mango, although I would rather get a crepe cake at Lady M instead. I feel that perhaps because the East Village location in on such a busy street, their ordering system gets chaotic and their service is lacking. My fave dessert of all time is the mango juice with sago and pomelo or the snow mango sago with coconut milk, they are known for these desserts, and it's hands down the best. The ice cream was good, not too sweet, and the rice balls were just there for textural contrast, I think, since they had not much flavour. - triple ice cream delight (green tea, vanilla, mango ice cream). Although, that description is not quite true, because as we realised a few bites in, we got a scoop of durian ice cream instead of vanilla. A bit of a dryly amusing mixup, since fortunately none of us were too upset with this, but I think it could have been problematic for others given how strong the durian smell is (I'm that way with cilantro!). I think the ice cream was fine overall, but nothing special (and certainly not worth $10 I think). Anyway, why is this location called an 'artisan lab'? Is there a difference between this location and the other Mango Mangos that I missed? I was supposed to eat the Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory next door but immediately seeing that one scoops was $7.50 (this is crazy?!?!) There's ice cream, cake, juice, and a whole variety of specialties and combos. I got the Mango Mille Crepe Cake. This is a whole stack of very fine crapes layered perfectly on each other, in between each layer there's sweet mango frosting. This is so creamy, decadent, and each bite had me going "mmmhhmm...". Even though I offered, I was glad not to share. The most popular item amongst my group was the classic mango dessert. This is mango ice cream, in mango juice, and some chopped up mango. You can't overdo the mango! We unfortunately had a let down. We also got this beautiful looking masterpiece of a mango, that's actually made of white chocolate. Once it's broken, the mousse inside was a bit underwhelming. It was very mild in flavor. Sadly, this is the only one that was left behind. I love durian but my friend wasn't a huge fan so I got the snowy durian and she got a slice of the green tea Mille crepe. Both were very good ! I absolutely love that they have combos since it has good variety and is a reasonable price. The seating is pretty limited, and tables are small and pretty squished. Even on a Wednesday night it was packed, but things move pretty quickly.
