As usual, I ordered my favorite bibimbap ( my daughter and son's favorite as well, husband ordered one of their beef soup and shared it with our daughter ). The food is a little bland compared to our favorite Korean spot but I am glad it is not salty, oily and spicy. They gave us only 5 small servings of side dishes. Fast service. The dining area is really small and very tight. Bathroom is clean. They are fast at bussing the tables. I'm glad that there is no line, no wait and a table is already available for us to eat.
I cannot stop raving about this place. We ordered a bunch of their cold noodles that absolutely hit the spot on a hot SF day. It comes iced and is cut table side. Order a bunch of dishes and be sure to share. There is sometimes a line but just put your name on the paper sheet hung behind the front door because it's worth the short wait.
After a long morning walk around San Francisco, my friends and I wanted to sit down and get our grub on. We walked past Manna in the Sunset and thought it looked good, so we doubled back and decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately, which was great. We ordered the seafood pancake, spicy pork, and sweet and sour wings. The seafood pancake had the perfect amount of umami and crunch, especially with the sauce that came with it. The spicy pork was delicious and came out sizzling hot, which made it even better. The chicken wings were also really good, the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and hit the spot after a long walk around the city. Would definitely come back again!!!!
A must!!! This place is always so consistently FIREEEE. Our favs and must haves: soft tofu soup w/ beef (medium), galbi, bibim naengmyon, sweet and spicy chicken wings, and of course their banchan. Their in house kimchi is some of the best I've had. Service is always pleasant and staff is attentive. This place does get pretty busy during peak times but they're good about having you order right before you're sat so food comes out quicker. Cute little place with outside seating + heaters as well. One of my fav meals and places.
Order: Kimchi chige: standard soup, lots of silky tofu included along with meat but it was not spicy at all. Kimchi pancake: best dish of the night, tender interior yet the exterior can be a bit crispier. Enjoyed the vinegary dipping sauce. Kimchi fried rice: more sweet than spicy for the sauce, liked the egg on top though the dish was a bit wet. There is an always a line so maybe the wrong items were ordered? the meal wasn't satisfying. Wait posted behind the door to list your name and party size. It was packed but the turnaround time was about 30 minutes. Menus are provided for preorder if you're up next. Banchan are provided with free refills: favorite was the kimchi. Tip is calculated with the tax included so a heads up on that.
Food was great, service was great. A lot of reviews mentioned the banchan being good and to my surprise it really was! My BF really liked their kimchi. It's a small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating available.
Yummy! I love seafood stew, and it came with a lot of clams and shrimp. Bibimbap was good too, I enjoyed the crunchy pieces of rice on the side of the pot and must eat the bibimbap with the sauce mixed in! We came around 5:20pm and there was no line.
Second time frequenting Manna, didn't honestly hit the same as the first experience as the service was not up to par for some reason :( Manna has been serving the neighborhood for decades and I can see why locals love this SF Korean staple; authentic, homey, cozy, affordable hold in the wall comfort Korean food! Some notes: there is a waitlist especially on weekends where you write your name down. For some reason the experience this time around was with poor waitlist organization, another party of two that arrived late was seated before us as we were next on the list. It's a waitlist not a latelist haha! Manna serves unlimited banchans so if you're like me, free appetizers so order the entrees to your hearts content! On to the food.... BBQ chicken: tender for what it is with a sweet heat moment. Pair it with the side of white rice for a filling sizzling platter goodness Yum Gae Jang (bean sprout stew) Soft flavor profile, didn't hit as other places, probably could use more fish sauce or even MSG. Was a good pallete cleanse for the bbq chicken and ban chan but would not order again.
Have been coming here since high school and it still does not disappoint! I think the popularity has blown up lately because I've seen lines the last few times I've passed by. Luckily we got a table right away on a Friday afternoon! Service is quick and efficient. Restaurant is clean and small, but comfortable. We ordered the lunch specials, 2 Korean tofu soups and soy sauce chicken wings! Both amazing, along with some of the best bonchon! Would absolutely come back!
This place was chefs kiss. Taste: I loved all the banchans and the cold noodles! So yummy. The price was reasonable too :) Parking: I won't lie, this was difficult. It's street parking so you need to get lucky. Service: Kind and accommodating
Loved our Sunday dinner here, saw outside by the parklet and ordered soft tofu soup with chicken and the stone pot bibimbap - both were fantastic and sizzling hot. Friendly service, and reasonable fast give how busy they were inside. Will be back!
I came here a few years ago but most recently wanted to try it out again. There's always a wait for dinner, so I recommend arriving early to grab a table inside if possible. Most of the time, you will be waiting outside which is always pretty cold at night. Theres actually very little space to move around inside so definitely keep that in mind when you visit. I got the Seafood Tofu Soup. I was quite taken back by the flavor since it tasted like they used miso as the base. Korean tofu soups typically use anchovy stock as base to give the soup a rich flavor. That was definitely a bit disappointing. They do give a decent amount of small seafood bits like mussel, clam, and squid. By the end of the meal, the soup ended up tasting very overly salty. The rice was very fresh though. This is such a popular restaurant in the area but the food quality is quite disappointing. You can definitely get better quality elsewhere for the same price.
My Korean friend told me there's not really great Korean food in sf and that helped temper expectations. This place is a cute corner restaurant with friendly service but the food is not great. Not terrible but not very good imo. There's almost always a line, I guess it's affordable and friendly service.
It's been over a week since I came here and I'm still in awe of how good the food was. I came here with a friend a year or so ago, but I went back recently and it was perfect on a cold night. My boyfriend and I were originally waiting for San Tung, but the wait was long (as always), and we ended up coming here since there was still a good amount of people waiting to eat here. We didn't wait any longer than 10-15 minutes since we requested for a table inside, whereas other parties wanted to sit outside by the heater. We were greeted so warmly by all the servers and they gave us a minute to order what we wanted. My boyfriend and I got the soft tofu soup (spicy) with beef, the dol sot Bibimbap, and the fried dumplings. The soft tofu soup does come with a side of white rice as well. After we ordered, they brought water to our table and the bon chon (kimchi, broccoli with sesame oil, and something else that I don't remember). They were all really tasty! The kimchi had a really clean taste and I absolutely loved the broccoli (I even adopted it for my meal prep this week). Our food came out one by one and omggggg, the food was so amazing. Soft tofu soup w/ beef: the spicy flavor wasn't overly spicy but it does have a kick. It's more medium/mild to me, but man was it perfect on a cold night. I loved the bits and chunks of beef with the soft tofu. The rice took awhile to come because they were making fresh rice, but all of our servers kept apologizing that it was taking so long. I love how mindful they are of others, especially if there's going to be delays with food. The dol sot Bibimbap: This is your typical Bibimbap but in a stone bowl. This hit the spot!! I love Bibimbap, but in a stone bowl was even better. It came sizzling at our table and we even got bits of crispy, crunchy rice in each bite. I absolutely loved the portion was well. This is a good amount to split between two people. I got sooo full off of this and I can't get enough. Lastly, the fried dumplings:' im usually picky with my dumplings, but man were these really good. It was super crispy, and the meat inside was so light. The sauce they brought out complimented them so much. There were 10 dumplings, so perfect to share with your party. I have to say, it's better to come with a smaller party (1-4 max) because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. They do their best to accommodate larger parties, but it might be a wait. Everyone there is so nice and they make sure you're enjoying your meal throughout the time you're there. I believe even the owner told us to take our time, and to not rush. I thought that was really sweet because they want to provide really good customer service to everyone. Our total came to around $40 I believe. Each dish varies, but I saw that everything was between $11.99-$14.99. There may be some that are a bit higher, but mostly really affordable! Also, there can be street parking or metered parking. Regardless, it's pretty difficult to find parking around here. Definitely keep your eyes peeled. I highly recommend coming here!! Great tasting Korean food and you have the greatest staff working super hard here. They're so friendly and want you to have the best experience. read more
A friend and I came for dinner on a Fri night. I had to be told to sign my name on the waitlist hanging on the door bc it wasn't obvious when I first walked in. We waited 30 min. Server took our order while we waited and recommended some dishes - smart move to save time. We started out with the soft tofu with chicken soup which was spicy even at medium, but good! The japchae was good although I've had lighter. By the time, the huge seafood pancake came, my friend had to awkwardly eat from his bowl above the pancake bc there was no room on our small table for two. A bottle of water was on the table for us to help ourselves to. Food was good, fresh and prices were reasonable. I've had better banchan (small dishes), but that would probably affect the price. Service was excellent. Parking on the street. Indoor and outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Place was packed and busy! read more

AMAZING! Had 2 friends who came from out of the city and I took them here and they absolutely loved it. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away at one of their outdoor dining tables. We noticed that the staff was super attentive even though we were sitting on the side of the restaurant they still came by and checked on us. We might have ordered too much for 3 people but the food was so good we kept eating everything. The kimchi pancake was crispy and delicious coming with a dipping sauce that was nice a soysaucey and vinegary making the perfect pairing. We noticed that through out our lunch the pancake amazingly stayed crispy which was amazing. The veggie bibimbap was also very yummy the hot container allowed us to get scorched rice bits which is always a delight. The trick it to let the rice sit for 5 to 10 mins before mixing it up. Our table all agreed that the spicy stir-fried octopus was AMAZING it was not too spicy but wonderfully flavorful. Over the rice it was simply divine. 20/10 would order that dish again. Lasty the spicy tofu soup was nice relief from the cold sf weather. Would definitely coming back and trying more things on the menu. We have been coming here for years and enjoying it everytime, a consistently good place for korean food. read more

Food (5/5): This was the first time I've had bibimbap, and it was delicious! It was warm and cozy, the perfect meal on a cold day. The best part was the rice that had crisped at the bottom of the bowl. SO YUM! Service (5/5): Even though my place in line was up, because my friend's commute was delayed by 30 minutes, the owners graciously allowed me to stay at the front of the line until my friend arrived. I appreciated that so much! When we sat down, our orders were quickly taken, and the food came out pretty fast. Ambiance (5/5): The restaurant is on the smaller side, which makes it pretty cozy! Overall verdict: I really enjoyed my dining experience here. I can't wait to come back! read more
A hot spot for college students--this is what it felt like when we came here on a Wednesday evening about 6:30pm. There were a lot of people waiting outside! We decided just to go for it and put our name on the list for two (no res, first come first serve). It's a small place, so we knew we'd be probably be waiting outside for about 30-40 mins. It was a long wait. Staff were nice about it, getting tables cleaned and people seated as quickly as they possibly could. No choice where you want to sit, whatever opens up, that's what you get. We would have loved the tables by the window, but instead were squished tightly between two other tables near the restroom. Not great, but it was what it was. DOL SOT BIBIMBAP - Beef , veggies , fried egg over rice in a sizzling hot stone bowl. A traditional dish, always delivers a full stomach! Very good, nothing extraordinary, tasted just as expected. SEAFOOD KOREAN PANCAKE - first time trying this-- a savory egg batter infused with green onions and variety of seafood, baked to a golden brown pancake, served with a spicy dipping sauce. This is a heavy appetizer, almost a meal in itself. The dipping sauce added kick of flavor to compliment the pancake. The food's good, prices decent, the staff friendly and efficient (makes sense why this would be a draw for college students)--but the tightly packed ambiance was not for us. Love this place! I came here recently on a Saturday at 1pm and only waited 10min to get seated. The seafood pancake is huge and pretty tasty. Their kalbi is very flavorful and tender, I recommend ordering this dish! My go to is their beef tofu soup with medium spice, it always hits the spot! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more
An Inner sunset classic...affordable Korean eats in SF with friendly service! Manna is always a good idea. I've eaten here many times over the years and the food does not disappoint. My favorite banchan dish is their fish cake. It's fresh and you can always ask for more refills! They also serve broccoli, bean sprouts, and kimchi. The kimchi is flavorful and not too sour or spicy. My go to dish is their soft tofu soup or their dol sot bibimbap. The soft tofu soup can be adjusted in spiciness but mild is always the perfect spice level for me. I usually go for the beef and it comes with a bowl of rice. My brother goes for medium everytime and he eats it alllll! The dolsot bibimbap comes in a sizzling bowl and I love the burnt crackled rice at the bottom. Great for folks who love to eat veggies too. There seems to always be a wait for dinner because it's pretty small. Don't intend to bring a large group here unless you want to eat outside. Parking is hit or miss on Irving. You might get lucky to park at a meter or you can try residential. read more

The space is a little tight so expect to wait outside (in the cold) for a bit-but it's worth it! The service here is always on point and I love bringing my favs here! read more

The restaurant only cares about making money. They put us in a tiny table with very hot bibimbap and sea food soup close to the kid. After I complain, the waitress is very arrogant and just moved the hot ones next to me but refused to move table for us. The worst experience even before starting eating read more
Manna has been on my list of restaurants to try for the longest time, and last week, I was finally able to visit for lunch with a friend. I had pretty high expectations for this place that were unfortunately not all met. The banchan was good (namely, the fish cakes and kimchi were my favorite). However, the seafood soondubu I ordered tasted a little odd. All I could taste was the anchovy broth. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I felt like the soup flavors were not fully melded together. All in all, I'm glad I got to try out Manna, though this wouldn't be my restaurant of choice if I'm in the mood for Korean food. read more

Food was okay, i ordered soft tofu soup and the dak bulgogi (bbq chicken) and asked them if they could make it spicy which they did so that was nice. My friend ordered Japchae and Bibimbap and said it was also okay. The location is pretty small so the wait time depending on how many people are in your party might be long if they're busy. I see all the workers working hard, and most of the workers were nice. Overall the food was good nothing special but good and the service was okay. If i'm in the area i think i'll come again :) read more

My dish, which was the bulgogi set, was also really good. The restaurant is quite small, so this wouldn't be good for a large party; however, if it's 2-4 people, I think this is a great spot to eat at. The service was fine as well. read more

One of the restaurants I consistently go to. I came during shelter in place. Stopped by around 6pm on a Sunday to order takeout. They limit one person inside at a time. There were quite a bit of people outside waiting for their orders. I ordered and paid inside. Got a bibimbap, mul naengmyeon, and seafood korean pancake. Took about 30 minutes to get my order which they told me beforehand. My typical order is the dolsot bibimbap, but because I wasn't sure how that would be like as a takeout option, I got the regular bibimbap. It's still delicious and portion-wise is big and filling. Egg was still runny when I got home. Just wish they gave us a side of gochujang. Mul naengmyeon is just what I need on a hot day. Not heavy and super refreshing. Noodles get a bit clumped together because the broth comes separated. It comes with a lot of noodles and pickled radish. The vinegar-ish, pickled brine compliments the noodles nicely. The seafood korean pancake was amazing. It was so great that my mom praised it, and that's not something that happens often. It comes cut up already and heavily loaded with seafood. The whole thing could count as a meal itself. The dipping sauce makes it so much tastier. Manna probably serves the best banchan. The broccoli and bean sprouts are seasoned amazingly, I can never stop eating the fish cakes, and the kimchi is always fresh. Only thing missing was the shredded potatoes they typically give. The staff are friendly, the food is good, and the prices are decent. Manna just doesn't disappoint. read more

A small little restaurant located in the wonderful area of Irving Street. Manna has been operating for quite a long time and I personally consider it one of the OG's of restaurants in the area. It's a small place that's located on the corner of the block so you can't really miss it! Service was really friendly, and the waitresses were super efficient at their job. Very quick and friendly. The food overall was all really good with the kimchi fried rice being my favorite. I loved how moist it was and the flavor was pretty good. But everything else was delicious in general as well. The bibimbap was good, with the rice nice and crispy on the side of the bowl. And the tofu soup was super comforting and flavorful too. But I do think everything was very expensive for what it was proportion-wise. It was good, but the size didn't justify the price for me. Overall, everything standard. Food overall is pretty pricey but not bad at all. The food tasted decent enough for me to enjoy and it's a solid place for Korean food in the area. read more
Really nice Korean spot in Sunset! We had a large group and they were super accommodating. We shared family-style so I was able to try a variety of dishes (Dolsot bibimbap, spicy pork, galbi tang, japchae, and fried dumpling). The bibimbap had perfectly crunchy rice and a good ratio of toppings to rice. The spicy pork, fried dumpling, and japchae were really good as well. But I think the galbi tang might have been the best dish-- the broth was super flavorful and the radish soaked in all the flavor. I definitely want to come back here! read more
food was kinda salty, but the banchan was so yums, it's very good even for my korean palate, and the dolsot is actually the best ive ever had, the scorched rice was just right and crunchy, i would come again just for that. service was soooo nice and the ahjummas r attentive. it's pretty quiet but the resto is small so the tables r pretty close together, overall great place to eat kfood in sf ! they have a lunch special menu too :) read more

Manna is one of my favorite Korean spots in San Francisco. The food is great and the staffs are very friendly. The restaurant is always packed whenever I go, so I usually come here around 2 when the line is not as long. The indoor seatings are pretty close next to each other, but it's understandable since the restaurant is not too big. They do offer a lunch special menu until 3 PM on weekdays and my favorite dishes are dol-sot bibimbap, seafood soft tofu soup, and the seafood pancake. read more

Our group of 4 came on a Sunday night before 5:30pm trying to beat the dinner rush and waited close to 45 minutes - no surprise, since this is a popular local spot with limited seating, mostly tables of 2-4. We sat indoors and enjoyed the seafood pancake, soft tofu soups, gal bi tang, and dil-sot bibimbap. The soups were tasty and comforting, although the soft tofu soup did not come with egg, and the rice at the bottom of the bibimbap was nice and crispy. Unfortunately, we found the service to be slow and inattentive. We finished our banchan early on and asked three times for it to be replenished. The last time, our server told us "you need to finish this first" (pointing to a single fish cake and broccoli floret) and then only replenished 2 of the 5 dishes. Our water was not refilled and we were given the wrong check at the end of the meal. But the food was good and it was a busy night. read more
Super cute Korean place in the Inner Sunset! We came on a weekday at 5:30pm and had to wait for a few minutes, but by the time we left at 6:30, there were ~5 parties. It gets even busier on the weekends, so definitely be prepared to wait. We both got bibimbap, which was served super hot in the clay pot. Everything was flavorful and fresh -- a solid bowl! The service was super fast and friendly. Overall, a great spot for casual Korean dinner in the city! read more
An absolute korean classic if you are from the city. It was in this small corner when i first started coming here and it is still thriving in its small corner to this day. The owner is super friendly along with his staff. The side dishes are amazing with unlimited refills. The seafood pancake is a must try along with many options from their menu. This place always gave me that homey vibe with its small interior but that never stopped me from visiting! A must try if you are visiting the city! read more
I really wanted to like this place because I was in the mood for some good Korean food, but it was really underwhelming. Maybe I had high expectations after seeing the reviews for the restaurant and the line outside, but I left disappointed and homesick . The restaurant itself is pretty small and they have limited outdoor seating, so you may end up waiting for a little bit especially on a weekend. Overall I think it's a good introduction to Korean food, but will not satisfy you if you grew up eating Korean food. Also, the price point was pretty high for Korean food. The Banchans - A vital part of any Korean meal, these all tasted store bought. I appreciated the fact that they had a good variety of banchans though. Dolsot Bibimbap - This was probably the best dish I was able to try, but was still underwhelming. Galbitang - Now, I was really craving for some good galbittang because it was a rainy Saturday, so I was super excited to see this on the menu. It was served in a silver bowl, which was the first disappointment. This is usually served in a Dolsot, but it's fine. When I saw the actual soup itself, I immediately thought that I must've received a wrong order because it looked like Korean radish soup. The meat in the soup isn't your traditional galbi, there was a shit ton of radishes (which made be super confused), also the soup came with an egg?? I was just so confused by this whole dish. Jyeokbokeum - I mean this was just terrible. The sauce itself was extremely sweet, to the point where the contrast was too big compared to the other dishes. The "pork" was basically nonexistant and when there were pieces of pork, it was literally the size of a penny. read more

Very comforting food and seemed like it's really popular local spot. Very small restaurant so not much indoor or outdoor seating. We were told the wait would be 15 mins but we ended up waiting close to an hour. I wish they were more upfront about the wait time. Food and service were good otherwise but probably not worth such a long wait read more
It was my first time here . I went on a Friday afternoon around 3:30 pm was quite hard to find a parking spot . I went in and 2 ladies welcomed me very warmly. The restaurant is very tiny but the have both inside and out side sitting area. When I entered I was the only customer . I ordered and then a couple came in and a group of 4 people . I ordered bbq short rib . It was really delicious. I loved it . The only thing that bothered me was I was their first customer and I ordered first but they brought the food for those couple and the group of 4 people first . But why? Anyways that's the only reason I am not giving 5 stars. I will go back again to try something else . read more
