Every time I come to Brothers it's never a fail. If you want a good charcoal grill Korean bbq in San Francisco this is the OG spot! Galbi with bone, Bugolgi is a must. They usually throw in the tofu soup on the house, delicious!

Brothers deserves the hype! Well cooked Korean food, meat wasn't overly sweetened. Banchan (side dishes) were plentiful and kept flowing. The seafood pancake was perfectly crispy. Staff were friendly but busy, we had to flag our server down a few times to get some water refills. Don't wear fancy clothes, the whole place smells like smoke (from the charcoal grills)!

Incredible, You will leave with a smoky outfit but we had such a good time. Service is quick and prompt and I loved the variety of banchan! It's expensive but honestly one entree is good for each person. The tofu soup was a highlight surprisingly ! I loaded it up with banchan and mmmm so good! Great for an interactive date night

The meat is fresh, we cooked our own. It was a fun experience. I also enjoyed the tofu soup, really delicious. And we order the Korean sweet beef that was already cooked from the kitchen. Paid well with rice and tofu soup. The raw beef ribs is well marinated, has a lot of flavor. The cheese corn was also delicious! The service pretty good and quick, the food came out to our table all at once. Will come back!

I've been coming here for years with the family. Always a group more than two. Today I went as a party of two around 5 and there were a few tables open so we got seated right away. Service always. Even great knowing how busy they get later on. Before they never allow taking away left overs but today! Oh man we got to take our left overs home (cooked and uncooked meat)!!!!!

Fantastic!!! I've been waiting a few years to try it since I needed the right squad! Went with my best friends and ate like a king! Room is smokey as you'd expect from a charcoal fired KBBQ spot. Meat was all excellent! I'd go back again for sure!

This cute little family owned restaurant was fittin the vibe. Service was quick and prompt. Didn't even have to wave them down as they knew what we were goin to inquiry. Few things though: 1) Quality of the kalbi and bulgogi surpassed all expectations. The marinade wasn't overbearing, and the protein was sweet and tender lovin 2) Upon refilling our kimchi bonchon, they gave us a plate full of stems. I ain't ever seen that before - ever pack a bowl of stems (?) iykyk. The bonchon was the most underwhelming portion of the meal 3) The clothes on our backs permanently smells like charcoal. Wear some clothes you're bouta wash. Overall, good quality, would come back. The charcoal grilled meat compensated for the mishaps elsewhere.

This place has been bookmarked for a while and I am glad that we were able to eat here for Thanksgiving! FOOD: Everything we had was super flavorful and yummy! Portions are pretty fair also. We had a party of 12 and ordered 2 of each dish and still had enough for leftovers for a couple days! Our favorite dish was actually the kimchi fried rice. SERVICE: When we came on Thanksgiving, it wasn't too busy. Servers were attentive and super friendly too! My family enjoyed the tea and they gave us the name of it in Korean on a piece of paper to show the workers at the Korean markets since it must be a specific kind of tea. AMBIANCE: Definitely a cozy restaurant :) loved coming here with family, especially on Thanksgiving. It made the outing much more enjoyable. PARKING: Parking can be a challenge since it's located directly on Geary street but we were lucky to find close by street parking. Would love to visit this place again to try more of their dishes!

Amazing charcoal KBBQ grill spot. Service is attentive and patient. Environment is straight to the point which, who cares the food is delicious and the banchan is the best! The galbi is expertly cut and the marinate is yummy. I really like the dried fish banchan. Pretty great spot for a catch up with friends with some drinks. The fried omelette oyster fish IMO is a sleeper hit

Went around opening time so ~5. It wasn't packed but there were some families sitting already. I ordered the 2 person tasting menu of which I chose spicy pork. So this came with banchan + bulgogi + spicy pork + spicy tofu stew. The banchan was good and the servers are really attentive with you. We chose to cook ourselves as well. The meat was alright. I think I have a really big liking for spicy food so the stew and the spicy pork were not spicy for me but I think overall I left satisfied with the amount of food and service. I did not overeat or undereat. I do not think I would come back but I would recommend this spot for families and for groups of people.

Came here under a recommendation from a friend. Came here on a weekday at 6:30PM. Was seated very quickly, my buddy came a few mins after and we got the 2 Taster and it was good. Plenty of ban chon, the bulgogi was excellent, same with the spicy pork. All cooked over charcoal. We were also served some tofu soup. That was just as good. The tofu didn't come in one chunk it was broken up. Zucchini was visible in the soup. All of that for $90. I say worth. I also wanted to try the Japchae, but that would've been too much food for my friend and I, but from what I saw at the other tables the japchae would have been served in a large plate. By the time we finish the place was filled with people so we came at an excellent time. Can't imagine what it would be like during the weekend. As for the interior, it was a very nice. Plenty of fans. From the outside it's a hole in the wall, but it goes pretty deep inside. Will be keeping this place on my list if I'm ever back in the area.

Brothers is an oldie that will always be a goodie! It's been many years since I've eaten here. I've forgotten how smoky the restaurant can get. On this recent visit, there were six of us. I was able to make a reservation at 7:00 pm on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. Service was quick but not the friendliest. The workers were so busy they forgot to refill our waters and we had to ask several times for some sauces. Food was still very flavorful. All of their marinated meats were moist and well seasoned. The tofu stew, galbitang, spicy squid and seafood pancake were all delicious too. Parking is decent in the area but sometimes requires circling a few times.

The brisket is tender, smoky, and always disappeares way too fast. The hot link has perfect snap, the chicken is alwayss juicy, and the bao bun (side of pickled onions) is always a standard on all our orders. The sides, oh the sides, mac & cheese and potato salad are exactly what great BBQ sides should be. Don't forget the cornbread muffins either. And special alert: the brisket chili deserves its own spotlight. This is a family-run operation, and it shows. Great people, great food, and a fantastic addition to our side of the city. My advice: don't sleep on Smokin D's, place the order and always ask for extra BBQ sauce. Thank you, Smokin D's, for keeping San Francisco smoked, sauced, and happy.

I will say that when ordering, the process is super slow, and the service is slow as well. Once you taste the food, you'll be OK with the slower service. After all, this is not fast food. I ordered the grilled cheese brisket sando. You know what they say... Go big or go home! The portion is what I expected although it could've had more cheese ironically. It's also a $30 sandwich so my expectations were fairly high. The bread on the Sando tasted like basic white bread, and they definitely could take this up a notch to enhance the overall flavor profile, plus like I said, absolutely needed more cheese. The meat was tender, very flavorful, but I also found it to be on the sweet side, and I think I was expecting more of that tang that you get from West Coast/Texas, Southern BBQ. It was tasty! Originally my plan was to order a variety of different items on the menu, but I found out the hard way, that they sell out of food fairly quickly, and they may or may not make more. Case in Point, really wanted to try the mac & cheese, but it had been sold out an hour before I got there. I was told they were making more, but it would take an hour. This is definitely a place worth exploring, and I could tell by looking at some of the other diners plates, that other people were enjoying their food. I definitely plan on going back!

In part, it's because I had no idea the old Five Happiness restaurant that used to call this place home had even closed, but, really, I just tend to forget about every restaurant on this block (save for Brothers Korean BBQ). That is, until we heard that they sell Chinese BBQ roast pork and roast duck here, which we're always on the lookout for! Compared to some of the other nearby Chinese restaurants, L H feels a bit bigger in size, but, outside of that, not much about it feels all that indistinguishable or notable. As for the menu, we knew we were going to be trying their Chinese BBQ, but it was nice to see that they have over 140+ dishes to choose from, even despite how it didn't seem like there was a specific signature offering or specialty. Still, with so many options available, it was nice to see just about every Chinese staple dish was accounted for and that there seemed to be something for everyone. -- THREE BBQ ITEM PLATE with Roast Pork, Roast Duck, and Char Siu The dish we came here for, but it was a mixed bag. The biggest issue for me was how everything was cool/room temp, but at least the Roast Pork wasn't bad - a touch underseasoned, but crispy-ish. The Roast Duck was also decent (albeit lean), but the Char Siu was a bit dry. -- BEEF STEW & WONTON NOODLE SOUP with Egg Noodles While the portion size was generous, nothing about this stood out. On the plus side, the wontons were fairly plump and the noodles had a nice bite to them. However, the broth wasn't very rich and several chunks of the beef stew were chewy/tough. -- TOMATO BEEF JI MIEN This didn't do much for me, but, to be fair, I'm not a big fan of the dish in general. Although it came with a generous amount of tomatoes on top, all of the sauce and everything didn't leave much crispiness to the noodles. -- BEEF WITH SCRAMBLED EGG OVER RICE I didn't have a ton of this one, but it might have been the best dish we had. Sadly, some of the rice felt a little firm, but the eggs were cooked exactly how I prefer for this dish and the slices of beef were actually surprisingly tender. Much like the food, the service here was fine, but it seems they may not be as generous as they used to be. While the workers were friendly enough, my relative, who comes here often and is the one who put this place on our radar, mentioned they no longer give free soup with their lunch plates and that the portions looked slightly smaller than he remembered. I personally can't say if that's actually the case or not, so take it for what it's worth, but I also don't have any reason to doubt him either. All in all, even though nothing about L H Restaurant, or their food, amazed us, I can't say anything specific failed us either. Rather, our visit just felt really lackluster and generic. If anything, the most notable thing about this place is how curiously early they close, even on weekends (closes at 7pm). Given all of that, I can't say we have much of a reason to come back, especially in an area like the Richmond where we really don't have to go far to find the same or better. TWO AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

Located on the ground floor of the infamous leaning Milennium Tower in San Francisco's Financial District, INTERNATIONAL Smoke was Michael Mina's fine dining barbecue restaurant collaboration with multi-hyphenate entrepreneur Ayesha Curry. I visited this place once, for a small dinner party hosted by Charles Schwab on Tuesday, October 14, 2024. We arrived shortly after 6:35 PM. The atmosphere was modern, but casual and hip, funky with exposed metal accents popping through concrete floors and columns. Evidently, the fully booked days were behind them - despite the place's popularity as a fun, lively eatery with the occasional celebrity spotting, the restaurant was fairly quiet that night and not a single person was at the bar. We were seated in the spacious Atrium with floor to ceiling windows. INTERNATIONAL Smoke was not your traditional barbecue restaurant. They presented a globally-inspired grill-centric carte inspired by the rich heritages of the co-founders. The globetrotting meat dishes highlighted diverse international flame-cooking and smoking traditions. The ambitiously broad menu intended to take diners on a culinary journey around the world, but, instead, delivered a disjointed and scattered passport. Similar to the food offerings, INTERNATIONAL Smoke's drink catalogue featured some rotating crafted cocktails that leaned into global flavours, such as KUNG FU PANDAN ($18) and MIDNIGHT IN OAXACA ($20). Boozy beverages like TICKLE ME PINK ($19), NEGRONI ($19), and the ESPRESSO MARTINI ($20) were enjoyed by some of my tablemates. A couple of us stuck to the ZERO PROOF potables like the BUZZ FREE BEE ($15) and RASPBERRY FIELDS ($12) of which the latter I found to be delightful. Cool ice cubes, too! Below are a few of the dishes that we ordered: DOUBLE DUCK WINGS ($28) - I don't eat duck, but my dining mates raved over the tender mango-habanero glazed meat that was falling off the bones. BLACK TRUFFLE CAESAR ($20) - This was a substantial serving, and the sweet onion crema, fried garlic, and truffle vinaigrette all worked well together. ROASTED CAULIFLOWER ($18) - Meh. Perhaps my prejudice against raisins and tehina got in the way of enjoying this STARTER. BLISTERED SHISHITO PEPPERS ($16) - There was not a single blister on any of the peppers, so, unfortunately, the expected smoky, charred flavour was completely absent. MISO YAKI BLACK COD ($48) - This order came with two considerable sized filets of the velvety soft and flaky fish served atop mild shishito peppers sitting in a light ginger dashi broth. It could have just been me, but one of the slices looked a bit undercooked. DUNGENESS CRAB GARLIC NOODLES ($45) - Joanna went with this rich, buttery dish of noodles tossed with wood ear mushrooms, generous portions of Dungeness crab, and heavily garlicked. It was hearty, but I didn't see any bok choy mixed in there, which would have disappointed me if I were Joanna. PERI PERI HALF CHICKEN ($39) - Dustin ordered this dish. The poultry appeared to be well marinated, so I can only assume that the deep, fiery acidic flavour with the pronounced smoky element came through in each bite. Surprisingly, no rants nor raves on this from Dustin...who is usually very opinionated. PORK BELLY FRIED RICE ($17) - Not the worst, but not the best. For the small bowl, this was a major rip off. FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS ($15) - Wow, for the price, this should have knocked our socks off, but was pretty lackluster. 8 OZ. CENTER CUT FILET MIGNON ($68) - I ordered this steak plate. The meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the taste of the red wine demi and the stuffed portobello mushroom were unremarkable. LEMON OLIVE OIL CAKE ($14) - This did not stray far from the standard olive oil cake, just a touch of lemon added to the cake's flavour + the pluot garnishes. Nothing standout about this, unintriguing. "SMOKED" CHOCOLATE S'MORES ($14) - Not your typical s'mores, more of an elevated take on the campfire classic with a valrhona molten cake sitting atop brûléed marshmallow fluff with a side of graham cracker crumble and a scoop of ice cream. CINNAMON CHURROS ($13) - The accompanying blueberry cheesecake and meyer lemon curd dips were the sole unique elements of this sugar-dusted fried pastry dessert. Without them, this plate would have been underwhelming. Mediocre food at high-end prices aside, table service was friendly. What was all the hype over INTERNATIONAL Smoke? My true guess is that the affiliation with Steph Curry and his basketball friends who would pop in were the big draw...because even with all of the smoking, this place had no fire.

Granted we were a bit late for our reservation, we ended up having to wait another 30-40 mins. The place (2nd floor) is small & awkward. We were all cramped waiting on the stairway and the actual seating area is also fairly small for a busy KBBQ place/big parties. The 8 of us squeezed into a booth with 2 chairs on the side. You can also feel whenever the table next to us got up and stomped/yelled/moved in their chairs-- which was really often. The basic AYCE menu is fairly limited-- esp for the side options. The marinated meats were pretty good as was the tteokbokki. Side & meat portions were alright, but the kicker is having to flag down staff to make sure they put in the order & bring it out. We asked for japchae about 5 times before it actually reached our table towards the end of our meal. The server/manager also told us that he had accidentally brought out 2 bottles of soju for us and that he'd COMP 1 bottle. We didnt notice that he had actually charged us for 2 and comped/subtracted a "third" one. So none were really comped at all. I just realized after we paid and that felt really sketchy. We ordered and shared the smoked brisket, smoked ayam lumpia, nasi goreng, rujak slaw, and macaroni goreng between three. It was the perfect amount for us. The brisket was super tender and everything was flavorful. The slaw had a good crunch as well. Would definitely come back.

Came here after hearing good things about it and it def hit the spot especially after a long hike…read more I arrived around 12:30 which was def not the worst time as when I got to the front of the line they still had a lot. I honestly forgot how long I waited but we came as a group so I got a beer next door first. The Dino rib def was a 10/10 it was so tender and I love the red onions they give on the side of the bbq. Def get a Dino rib or two over the brisket. Brisket 6/10 - this was a bit dry for my liking but it def did fall apart well. But it's a 10/10 when you eat it with instant ramen (just heat up the brisket in the instant ramen broth and u got yourself a solid meal) PLUS it becomes so soft and tender doing so Cole slaw 9/10 - I rlly liked this it reminded me of Vietnamese Goi (cold salad) and that was really good. Pro tip: there's parking in the back lot and get yourself a couple of beers from the brewery next door while you wait :D
