We were strolling by Manny's Bistro and are so happy this quaint, UWS restaurant pulled us in. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a catch up with friends. You have to order the crabcakes! Seriously the best we have ever had. The beet salad is also incredible and they have a amazing wine selection. All the desserts are homemade!!! I hate posting a negative review for any restaurant during COVID, but boy do we regret going here last night. When you see the prices at this self-appointed French bistro, you could be forgiven for thinking the food must live up to the hype. But OMG... it does not. That $47 steak frites cooked "medium?" A small well done strip of meat, tough as shoe leather. Even the TWELVE DOLLAR bottle of Perrier couldn't wash that down. Should I have gone for the $49 steak au poirve instead? If you want fries with that it's an extra $8, sorry. How about the $28 "moules Provençal?" Also overcooked and powdery; more like "mussels local pizza place." The burger was decent, I'll give them that. Maybe the kitchen had a VERY off night, but this was glorified diner food, folks, nothing more. They need to up their game or lower their prices if they hope to survive. read more

After a full day at the Central Park Zoo, lugging around 3 kids under 9, and approaching full lack-of-food breakdown, we stumbled upon Manny's amid the tail end (I hope I'm not jinxing it) of the COVID crisis. As the ladies used the restroom, my initial thought was that this place was too "fancy" for our kids and that they wouldn't eat anything they couldn't pronounce. I was happily mistaken as they promptly ordered a burger and french toast! I ordered a somewhat small crab cake salad but what it lacked in volume, it sure did make up in taste. It was definitely the best crab cake I've had this year, maybe in a decade. It was moist, had great texture and the flavor was light but tasty. I probably could have had 3 of them to be honest. The service wasn't particularly fast but it was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon so eating "outside" was a welcome change. I'd go back. read more

We've been coming to Manny's for a couple of years now and the service has steadily gotten worse and worse. We recently went for brunch and waited 40 minutes before asking about our food. We then asked and 20 minutes later still didn't have our food. Everyone in the restaurant was receiving their meals with no issues, but we then learned our food was not even started by the kitchen an hour after we ordered and after we asked again about it. It's clear they just care about volume and not actually serving their customers. read more

We both wanted steak and we couldn't figure out a steak restaurant without going downtown. Food was solid, service so so. Love the liver pate with bread... Did have two of those. staff accommodating on kids selections. Obviously things to avoid like the small $19 martini is quite ridiculous. Had a bottle of 2016 St Emilion at $75, Total bill $357.29 did not feel worth it! Too expensive for this quality/neighborhood. Do not orer the confit du canard. I love duck. But when I tasted the small portion for $24.00. I almost choked on so called "duck", The meat was burnt, rubbery and tough that I almost choked on it. The onion soup was good. so was the creme de Brulee. read more

My experience with my son and his wife last evening was exceptional. My trout almondine was succulent and fresh and the Canard A L'Orange was as good as one gets in Paris, and can't say enough about the Mussels! I commend the wait staff for attending to every detail and for delivering our food piping hot. The owner himself came over to our table many times to connect wwith us. The food here is wonderful. It is served with respect and the staff treats you like a guest - just as it should be. We went to dinner in their outdoor cabana and it was perfectly heated and comfortable and the service couldn't have been better. They make a lovely espresso martini and my steak was great and my wife had the trout almondine --she gave me a taste and I will come back just for that dish! It is amazing. So. Good food. Saturday brunch and everything was wonderful. Our group had crepes and an omelette and everything was delicious. Service was good and dessert (mousse and profiterole) was great. (A snooty employee at a nearby restaurant gave us a hard time about getting a table ... and ended up doing us a big favor.) We look forward to becoming regulars. read more

Manny's is a neighborhood gem with excellent food, service, and ambience. We have come multiple times for dinner and for brunch and always come away with a great experience. The food is always excellently prepared and Manny himself is always on site to make sure everyone is having a nice time. Most recently, we started with the escargot and steak tartare, and for mains had the trout almandine and halibut (special), finishing with the chocolate mousse and apple tart -- highly recommend each of those. The food at Manny's Bistro is excellent. We had the sole meuniere and a halibut special with carrot puree and spinach. The fish was succulent and flavorful, and so were the vegetables. Profiteroles for dessert were the tastiest I've had. And the malbec and pinot noir were delicious. The outdoor enclosure during the Covid period was comfortable, and the server was attentive. We recently visited Manny's on Columbus Aves' - Upper West Side First, Manny and staff were so warm, welcoming and gracious. Their newly built outdoor venue is spacious, built in good taste, warm & comfortable - Even on a cold winter evening. Great bread, amazing pate that's off the charts delicious! We had the grilled trout almandine and the Roast Duck w black currant sauce and it was Devine - seriously! Their wine selection was very good as well I strongly recommend you visit this local restaurant - you will be very pleased It was the best dinner out that we've had in an entire year here in NYC! We have been eating in this restaurant for years before Manny reopened. I was very disappointed this last time. I made a reservation for a table and had to wait close to 30 minutes to be seated. The menu is revised with dishes eliminated. The prices have been raised significantly. The service was extremely slow because there is only 1 waitress. The previous experienced staff is not there. The food is still very good and the wines are excellent but the restaurant is no why like it was. read more

We chose this restaurant immediately based on the online menu and boy, was that an amazing choice. We sat outside and had the most attentive server ever. We started off with a wonderful bottle of Bordeaux wine and the best bread, along with their French onion soup. Which had the most delicious onion flavor ever. The bread was warm on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They had three wonderful specials to offer. Two of us chose the halibut special (picture attached) and our third guest had the steak frites. Everything was fabulous. The halibut was flaky, the mashed potatoes creamy, the steak flavorful, and the fries perfectly done. We finished off dinner with their special dessert, a baked dough with a chocolate ganache. The night ended with a lovely conversation with the owner, Manny. He was friendly, personable, and caring. We are so happy he is able to live out his dream! If we were there longer we would have eaten there every night. 10/10! read more

Found ourselves seeking lunch on the UWS. Liked the look of Manny's Bistro, which offered both outdoor and indoor seating. Opted for the latter, and we were welcomed by the host and given a charming table. The decor is classic French bistro, simple and understated. Lunch menu was not extensive, but options were thoughtful--there was something for every taste. Service was professional and well-timed, with some nice extras (like fresh bread hot from the oven while we waited for our entrees). My companion's mushroom crepe was pronounced 'great,' and my croque monsieur was outstanding (and huge!)--a perfect blend of ham and cheese.
