We've heard so much about this place so had to try it for our anniversary dinner. This was an awesome restaurant - very upscale and posh! Everything was so fancy. Our server was Tony and he was absolutely wonderful!! He was kind and very genuine and sincere. We're not fancy people and he made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. I loved the complimentary bread and sweet butter brought over to our table along with our cocktail order. They have a wide selection of cocktails, wine and beer. Tony did a little presentation on the different types of meat and seafood options - it was fun to watch! When our food came, he had sliced up the steak and lobster tail for us! We've never experienced that service at a restaurant before, which was also fun to experience! The food was absolutely delicious and it was such an awesome experience. We shared with Tony that it was our anniversary and he went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. I'm sorry but I just do not agree with the hype this place receives. I went with my boyfriend who had been there a few times, and I left disappointed and unimpressed. We ordered our steaks medium, and they came out mooing. Even my boyfriend, who likes it more rare than me, said it was aggressively rare. That, plus the steaks themselves were nothing special, was a red flag. I also think the sides were pretty mid. Nothing stood out, and if you're paying that much, you deserve outstanding food. I gave two stars for our good service and the atmosphere, but if you want quality steak, I'd go somewhere else. read more

I've been to Manny's every time I come to Minneapolis. Such a great steak house and this was another great evening. Our server was Tony and I think he's been there for 18 years. Great guy and helped make our night even better. The food is exceptional and the drinks were flowing. I loved their old location but I really like this location too. The ambiance is what you would expect for a high end steak house. Great wine list and dark woods, Buster the Bull at the front entrance gave us all a laugh too. You need to see it for yourself. Delicious food! We got Manny's burger, a filet mignion with bernaise, and aspharagus for the table. It was absolutely wonderful. Love the wall decor as well, there are tons of photos of people who've visited this restaurant, many famous! Would definitely recommend The drink prices are pretty pricy, but the drinks were good! Manny's is where expense accounts go for a night out in Minneapolis. As many have pointed out, Manny's is the epitome of a classic steakhouse - large steaks, larger sides, a great wine list, excellent/knowledgeable service and big prices. I have no qualms with any steak I have ever ordered, though the petite filet has become my usual. Sides like the slab bacon and hash browns are good and can feed a small army. The wine list is extensive and has a lot of great choices, though you're better off paying the corkage fee if you have some nice bottles sitting at home. If I'm covering the bill, there's a number of other steakhouses or restaurants serving great steaks that I'm choosing first, but Manny's does have it's charms if you're in the mood for excess. read more

It's probably been 10 years since I last dined at Manny's. Living in Kansas City, we don't have a highly celebrated local steakhouse of its ilk. Waiting in the lobby before being seated brought back memories of all the photos of celebs who've dined there. And there was the picture of Kim Kardashian from when she was married for 15 seconds to Kris Humphries. Still don't understand why we had to wait 15 minutes in the lobby when the dining room was half full. Oh well! When we got seated in a booth, we met our server, Steve. Sometimes you get the perfect server for a meal and Steve was that. I was in town for the Metallica concerts and Steve had been to some of their earlier shows in Minneapolis. So we bonded over rock and steaks. We started out with Martini's served in those huge Manny glasses. No complaints on quantity from me. Then it was time for the meat cart to arrive and allow Steve to describe the incredible selection of prime meats we could order. Next up were a half dozen oysters, followed by a bone-in ribeye we split, plus a baked potato and steamed asparagus. The thing I love about a place like Manny's is everything seems so well coordinated. Your water glass never goes empty. We finished the oysters and a few minutes later our meal arrives. Then an assistant shows up to cut the steak for us. The steak was phenomenal, perfectly prepared and oh so tender. We actually tried to convince Steve to join us at the concert, but as a three-year veteran at Manny's, he didn't think that would set well with the bosses. It pains me to write this review, as I have enjoyed Manny's at least half a dozen times since moving to the Twin Cities a decade ago. A week ago I organized a second "guys night out" with my son-in-laws and a golf buddy -- all who love their beef and wine. I brought two lovely Cabs from my modest wine cellar to share, opting to pay the $35/bottle corkage fee instead of the typical 200% surcharge on nice wine, though Manny's has a great wine list by the bottle. First off, service was impeccable throughout our dinner. We were seated in a large booth while the restaurant started to fill after 7 o'clock. Our waiter did a yeoman's job removing a degraded cork from the 2007 Quilceda Creek so we could decant for an hour while sipping the other Conn Creek Cab. Very relaxing, no pressure, lots of good conversation. Between the four of us we ordered two of the 19-oz NY Strips, the 24-oz Ribeye, and a Surf & Turf, along with a side of asparagus and one of mushrooms. Dinner came out remarkably quickly. The sides were large and tasty, though I thought the mushrooms were too salty. The issue was with the steaks. While none of us let our entree get in the way of a good time, we all expressed disappointment of some sort. The NY Strips were surprisingly tough and lacked seasoning. The ribeye was ordered medium-rare, but was rare in the middle (it was also quite fatty, but that's a risk with that cut). The host graciously took it away to re-try, but it was at least 15 minutes before it returned (shorter than it took to receive it in the first place!). While mistakes happen, the recipient also felt that the taste was "oaky" and "off", perhaps as the result of too much or incorrect dry-aging? The 1-lb lobster tail was nicely prepared, however. At over $90 for a steak, we were a bit disappointed, to the point that we may be looking at other steak houses for our next special outing. However, I will likely return at some point to see if this was just an off night or the type of slow slide into mediocrity that I've noticed in a handful of other Minneapolis restaurants the past few years. read more

My husband's 'choice' of restaurants in Winter Haven for a good steak. The only negative, it's too noisy....

Manny's is my 'go to' whenever I'm in town for business or pleasure. But it's getting harder and harder to justify the $$$$...As always, food is excellent, service is top notch, but the pricing is getting out of hand. I get it that beef prices are way up but the same cuts and quality at some of the other steak houses around the country (St. Elmo's, Charlie Palmer's, Bern's, Peter Luger, LA Prime) aren't as highly priced. Not to mention some of the chains (Morton's, Capitol Grille, Del Frisco's, etc.) offer high quality beef for considerably less. As yes, reputation and ambiance are worth something, but Manny's interior isn't all that special. While sides are generous and shareable, they also have taken a big jump. Enough bitching, I love Manny's but there's a limit. P.S.- Did I mention that it seems the tables are getting closer and closer together? No room to stretch or have a quiet conversation without the table next to you being in on it. read more

A real SHAME. I've been looking forward to dining here for years. When in town I've always hit 801 - decided it was about time to try Manny's. HUGE disappointment. The service at the bar was outstanding and the martini glasses are GIANT. I ordered the bone-in tenderloin. Horrendous, I couldn't eat it, took two bites and asked for my check. Medium, came out rare, more like Black-and-Blue. To top it off the oder made me think the steak was rancid. $80 steaks should come out perfectly cooked to temperature at a place like this - no way should you have to send a steak back for temperature. MAJOR fail by the kitchen. On the bright side, the Maple Glazed Brussel Sprouts were ridiculously good. So, final thoughts here, I likely got a dud steak. Who knows. Mannys is quite the experience! The food and service is impeccable! We went as a large group to celebrate a friend's birthday and this was the place to make a fancy night of it! Although a pricey spot, you get what you pay for here. The server puts on a menu show for the table showing the different presentations and cuts of steak before ordering. The portion sizes are huge and the sides and desserts are made to share, so highly recommend planning to share some things. We had extra food which makes for the most luxurious leftovers! I got my go-to extra dirty martini with gin and it was one of the best ones I've had! If you're looking for a special spot to splurge and have a fancy, high-quality meal and experience, I'd recommend Manny's. Stopped in at Manny's for an authentic MN style steakhouse experience. They did not disappoint! Service was very attentive and friendly. The meat cart was a sight to be seen. Order as much as your pocketbook allows as the steaks are fantastic. I had the large filet, medium. Cooked perfectly. Fries were ridiculously good, which I was expecting decent for a steakhouse but they were amazing and paired really well with the hot ketchup. The hash brown potatoes are also a must order and is a huge serving that can feed 4-6 easily. Apparently, if you say the name "Manny's" anywhere near the twin cities, a flock of raving reviews and suggestions on what to order will come flying in from all around you. And after our experience, I can see why. The service was excellent, the menu presentation entertaining and informative, and the food and drinks were top notch. I would have probably taken more pictures if my hands weren't immediately filled with delicious table bread, then truffle fries, then heavenly beef carpaccio. After a great overview of the advantages and flavor notes of each cut of meat, I went with the bone in filet. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wish I had gone boneless to get a few more delicious bites of meat in. Alongside the steaks we enjoyed a side of hash-browns that could feed a small army and Mac & cheese I would have loved to swim in. Finally for dessert, a s'mores cheesecake that I wish I could experience for the first time again, and fresh cut strawberries. The icing on the cake (or should I say fudge) was the hot fudge our server brought to accompany or dessert, which really raised the bar. There is no doubt Mannys earned its reputation. I recently hit a career milestone and wanted to come to mannys to celebrate! I was a little surprised at how it was a bit lackluster - perhaps because we came for brunch/lunch? I ordered a cup of lobster bisque to start which was probably the best part of the meal - incredibly buttery with huge chunks of lobster. It would've been phenomenal with some bread but I didn't order any so that was a bummer on my part. For my entree I got the New York 10 oz with French fries and my husband ordered the New York with the broccolini and a side of breakfast potatoes. We asked for our steaks to be cooked medium but it was super over cooked, zero pink, but still juicy and surprisingly not dry. Just a bit tough. My fries were truffle fries which was pleasantly unexpected! They were wobbly and a bit salty but I was starving and ate all of them. My husband enjoyed his meal aside from the steak being overcooked and we were in and out within an hour! Manny's is a classic steak house in every way imaginable. Their staff is professionally dressed as they leisurely describe the menu in detail while displaying their beautifully marbled cuts of meat. With red and white gingham tablecloths, booths that can swallow you whole, and dim, warm lighting, Manny's delivers on both service and ambiance. The food is also superior. My parents each ordered steak (filet mignon and a bone in cut) while I went with the lamb chops. Having never tried lamb chops, I lacked any comparison, but the sear, flavor, and texture was outstanding. The dish came with the traditional mint jelly which I was hesitant to try, but found it paired nicely with the meat. We also ordered hash browns with onions and sautéed mushrooms as sides. The hash browns arrived hot and heaping but were bland, would not recommend. The mushrooms on the other hand were bursting with flavor, would certainly order again. It was my dad's birthday, so our server brought a huge ice cream sundae to end our meal (can't recall if it was comped or not?). Came here last Friday evening upon flying into MSP for the weekend. Was told this is the #1 steakhouse in MN and one of the best in America. Sadly a huge disappointment. The restaurant is very nice inside and the four of us had a nice booth. The bread was great and the appetizers as well but from there it went south. We waited about 60 minutes for our main courses to arrive. No explanation for the delays. Everyone at other tables finished up and were still waiting. When we asked several times, we were told it's coming. When the steaks arrived, it was a disappointment. The double cut prime rib was bland. Instead of a double cut, give me a smaller portion that actually has some flavor. My son's rib eye wasn't even charred. When he asked that it be seared, there was almost pushback from the server. No apologies whatsoever for the delay and no effort to make things right. I dine at numerous high end steakhouses throughout the country (NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, San Diego, etc.). Anytime something goes wrong, the server or manager will apologize and offer something - either comp dessert or sometimes even remove a charge. I don't expect it but it's a nice gesture and shows that the restaurant truly cares about the customer experience. In closing, our bill (before tip) for a table for four came out to $750. Weak cocktails, crappy main dishes, and lousy service. Will never be back. read more

Five star food and wonderful service - you are definitely going to pay an "arm and a leg" for it. This place is high-end with a touch of historical origination to it. The valet employees are fast and polite. The waiting staff are dressed very professionally and treat each table as though they matter! They are highly educated upon the menu and know how to up-sell their chef's specials. I went on a Sunday evening and was shocked at the amount of people dining; it was a full house. The lighting is rather dim here to fit the upscale ambiance - bring your reading eye/glass wear. The menu is rather limited which I think is expected for Manny's (it's a steakhouse so there are plenty of steak options). You can't go wrong with any meal choice.
