I was ready for Manny's to be overrated with how much everybody talks it up, but I'm happy to say that isn't the case! I was lucky enough to experience Manny's last night for the first time thanks to my employer and it was unforgettable! The prices are HIGH, but I do think you get what you pay for here. This is a once-in-a-decade kind of restaurant for me for sure. We got all kinds of drinks (an old fashioned, the Exotic Dancer, some scotch), the large filet, 2 porter houses, the lobster tail, oysters on the half shell, mac n cheese, asparagus, and loaded hash browns. It was a feast. Not a single complaint about any of the food, and I have turned into quite the food snob when dining out. Now I'm going to be even more of a snob (sorry not sorry). The restaurant is dark and loud, so if that is not an environment you like, this is not the place for you. It has a traditional steakhouse feel with very professional wait staff, coat check, and valet parking. I did valet parking for $15, but there was ample street and garage parking as well. read more

I don't like to give bad reviews but after two visits there, one biz and the other family, the steaks are really awful. Everything at Manny's was perfection, food, service & ambiance. Special thanks to our server, Chris. He was attentive and humorous. I enjoyed the port house, shared for 2. I have never had a steak cooked more perfectly. We were both stuffed, but agreed it would be a sin to throw anyway. Well I finally made it to the famous Manny's and let's just say I can see why it's famous! If you want a restaurant experience in the Twin Cities that is a bucket level experience, Manny's is the place! It IS expensive...like next level "where's my limo driver" expensive, but for many of us this is a special occasion planned expense, credit card type of situation. That being said...do it anyway at least once :) The interior is high level steakhouse so dress accordingly. My sister's and I were celebrating my mom's 75th birthday, and she didn't want a party, so we all dressed up and went to Manny's to mark such an important milestone. The service was exceptional. Our server...Joel maybe(??), was a treat! Funny, charismatic, professional and warm and he made that evening even more special for us. The cocktails were expertly crafted, the food was perfectly prepared and timed out just right (which continues to be a problem most places so it's even more appreciated). Here are some highlights: Apple Smoked Bacon: SO delicious! Chunks of amazing pork that is flavorful, and tender and it is a very decent portion as well! Caesar Salad: Amazing! Garlicy, crispy lettuce and perfect dressing! One of our favorite things and a zesty offset to the richness of the bacon appetizer. Ribeye: A bone-in ribeye, perfectly seasoned and prepared that made my mom close her eyes with the most beautiful smile on her face! King Crab Legs: Splurge for sure!! So hard to find decent King Crab in MN and I just had to have them! They bring a cart and take out the meat for you right in front of you and you get a plate with wonderful big chunks of crab meat. Delicious experience but it is extravagant and probably a once-in-a-lifetime. I could probably afford to do it again but not sure I would although it was wonderful! My brother wanted to take my mom an and I out for a bit of "fine dinning" and Mannys was his choice. We opted to go for a late lunch to avoid potential parking challenges on a Saturday night. (We all found parking close by easily between parking ramps and street parking.) The service, ambience drinks and steak were great. The rest of the food? Meh. Keep in mind, I have a bit more fresh gourmet taste buds. So I'm probably a bit more difficult to please in order to get those 5 stars. We started with the King Crab dumplings. The presentation was lovely and they looked flavorful but tasted not so fresh and tasted a bit bland. My mom and I had no shells but my brother had 2 dumplings with shell pieces in it. One in which he completely spit out due to a lot of shell pieces. They were kind enough to offer to make new ones or take it off the bill for that reason- we opted for the latter. My mom's French dip was flavorless in my opinion. Nothing special and lacking any depth of flavor that I've had in other places. The loaded hashbrowns were delicious! Perfectly cooked with the right amount of moisture and crispness. And the thick cut bacon pieces in it was the best bacon I recall ever having! Our steaks were GREAT! Tender, seasoned perfectly enough that o didn't want any steak sauce with mine. I ordered a Medium- it was cooked a bit more than I'd prefer but still one of the best steaks I've had. I would've loved to see more fun vegetables side choices but being it was still the brunch menu, that's understandable. Would I visit again? Great place to come and enjoy some steak! Last time we were here, the char was a bit too much. This time we asked to go lighter on char. Veal chops were so tender and seasoned very well. Goes well with asparagus, potatoes and mushrooms. Bone in filet was also good but not as tasty as the veal chop. Each of us had a glass of wine and the total was $238. Wow, this place was great. It was my first time going and I'm glad I got to experience it. I was told that they had a really good burger. Manny's Burger was fantastic...when it first arrived, it was crazy to see how big/tall this burger was! My immediate thought was that it was gimmicky, but when I actually tasted it, I realized how great it was. There were layers of meat and each layer had its own unique flavor. The meats were tender and juicy. I typically would always expect cheese on my burgers, but this burger was so rich, it didn't need it. This beast of a meal is definitely enough for two people. For a four dollar sign restaurant, I wasn't impressed. We had 9:15pm reservations and when we arrived early we were sat right away, great start! It's not a typical restaurant as only drink menus were brought and after drinks were ordered they brought the meat cart and explained all the steak options...also pretty cool. David was great at first and was able to answer questions, but once we ordered and received our food I feel like he disappeared, not so great for service. Food was ok. The burger was huge, but almost too much. Two patties, brisket and onion straws. We opted for no mushrooms. Bone in ribeye didn't have a ton of flavor. I added salt and asked for horseradish on the side, which was very dry and not spicy at all, actually it had a weird consistency. The sides were good! Wedge salad great, onion straws, bread and loaded mashed potatoes were good. It was a little loud, but not terrible. The booth was comfortable! For $300 I'd expect more for the steak. What a huge disappointment! The environment and ambiance was a positive beginning but went downhill from there. I ordered the bone in ribeye and could not believe the amount of gristle! The steak knife could not cut through the meat. It was inedible. I've never returned a meal at a restaurant but I came extremely close on this occasion. The side dishes were delicious, as well as the dessert; however ridiculously large that three of us shared a cheesecake instead of ordering three desserts and getting the chance to try different things. But it all came down to the steaks. And this evening, Manny's did not measure up. It was so fun to experience the premium steakhouse in town: The service was impeccable, from a change in our reservation size being handled flawlessly to the over the top meat cart. I felt both pampered and like I was hanging out with my best friend. This is a big part of what you (or at least I) pay for. The food was great. I got the filet mignon and a couple of glasses of house wine (generous pour!). As a table, we also got the elote and the loaded mashed potatoes. Do not I REPEAT DO NOT skip the mashed potatoes it was enough for a family of 6+ and was simply incredible. We found meter parking right away for our 1:00 brunch on a Saturday. Our very knowledgeable server Erick was great! Who is there by the way on Friday and Saturday. But $28.95 for 5 pieces of medium sized shrimp cocktail? For most dishes, the idea seems to be to charge for really big portions. So $17.95 for a slice of key lime that can feed 4. Same for $19.95 asparagus and $18.95 hash browns. What if you only have 2 people? We walked out after paying $515 for two people and more food in the doggie bags than we ate. Date night reservation a half full restaurant and a great dinner with fabulous staff is what you can expect at Manny's. Steaks range from 40-90+ and are aged to perfection. I hug my reconnect the lobster crab cakes, the broccoli with hollandaise and the potatoes Pitt blue style with blue cheese and tobacco. They have a great wine list to pair with your meal and I only hope we lift the rules so we can see our eating establishments get back to where they were pre Covid. Chilean sea bass, lamb chops and brussel sprouts were the winners for our dinner. In fact the lobster cakes were really surprisingly delicious as our appetizer. They have Big chunks of lobster, were pretty big and very fresh. Portions were huge and all dishes were delicious. I would come back to Minneapolis just for this place. My husband and I were in town for a softball tournament and it happened to be our 4 year wedding anniversary. Because of the tournament we didn't know what time would be best to make a reservation, he called and the host suggested to come at 6pm or 8pm. My husband and I both agreed that this was the best filet mignon we've ever had. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We got the Bailey's cake for dessert. How I wish we could have bought the entire cake of this to bring home. If there's a way to ship some to Indiana...please respond to this review. First time here...O.M.G. This is one of a handful of 4-star reassurances that offer the level of service you'll experience here. Jacketed waitstaff, compete attention to detail & service that is lost in much of the food establishment industry these days. From the greeting, to seating, to menu presentation, to the bill you are given dedicated treatment and care. This IS a steak house, and they present to you samples of the aged (28-days, + 65/80-day aged specials) cuts of meat as visuals along with the lobster and King Crab. The 28-day aged is wonderful and tasty, but if you like the funk of an older cut, go for the 65/80-day. The Bludgeon is a 54oz Tomahawk cut of meat that I'll definitively try next time. The Fillet Mignon is the one cut that is not aged, but I would worry about any funkiness the aging. I had the Porterhouse (MR) and my spouse had a Fillet Mignon (MW), both with a crunchy hard char on the edges of the steak that they flame with 1000deg. to quickly sear the meat. The sides are table shareable a'carte, we had the asparagus (thick as your finger) w/ Béarnaise sauce were exquisitely tender from tip to base. A side special was a Mexican corn (de-cobbed) dish, Elote. The bread is a heavenly caraway rye and raisin pumpernickel with a house made whipped butter. The drinks are top-notch! If a Manhattan (or Old Fashioned) is your style, GET the Manny's Manhattan martini...that drink *speaks* business lunch. One of these will get your buzz on so be prepared, it is sooo smooth. Next I had a Plymouth G&T...it's strong pour and delicious. For dessert we had the Bailey's cake, served on a large plane enough for 4, we shared between two and took the rest home.
