My first time going. We have house guests so I got a plain, almond and chocolate croissant, carrot bread, and a kouign-amann and cut them so we could all try a little of each. The kouign-amann was very good but everything else was a little STALE (I purchased Thursday morning 7:30 AM and ate within 15 minutes). Guess they don't bake on premise nor store properly. Tried the baguette, quiche, kuign amann, and hazelnut cake, all delicious. The baguette was just the right chewy yet soft in the middle. Different than an Acme baguette but just as good. I gave my mom a loaf of their pumpernickel - very heavy - so I'm curious to hear how she liked it. We will definitely return. Pleasant staff and clean, contemporary cafe. There is one big problem with Manresa Bread's store in Los Altos. They are usually out of everything by 10 or 11 a.m. They're even out of their granola--which comes in a sealed bag. Can't they restock during the day? With the line in front of their door every morning, I'm sure they wouldn't have any leftovers if they re-stocked and stayed open until 5. read more

Got a bagette and a couple of chocolate croissants early on a Saturday morning. Loved the croissants with their slightly toasted top. Plenty of dough inside and just enough chocolate. Total cost was $14, so it's kinda pricey but if you're expecting supermarket/starbucks croissants this isn't your place. Good for a treat once in a while. Great quality and pricey. Excellent service, and the presentation of all the baked goods was great. Loved that they had all the ingredients on the signage by each item. read more

OMG!!! This is good stuff!!! We split 2 ham and cheese, poppyseed croissants and went back the next morning for more. Also took a loaf of delicious bread home. It lasted 1 1/2 days with 4 people eating it! My 4yr. old grandson gave an emphatic thumbs up to the fig and puffed rice bar (not sure what the official name for the bar is but it was yummy). Got a feeling that anything you order from Manresa will be delicious!!! read more

Stopped in to have a pastry with a friend. The pastries looked beautiful and so nicely organized lined up against the clean glass. There were no signs so we had to speculate as to what each item was. The server happily explained to us what everything was and said their signage was coming soon. Interesting since they have been open for quite a while now. I selected their apple tart and asked that it be warmed. The server said that they have no way of warming anything up but that I would enjoy it without being warmed. It's a little irritating to be told what I like and for a pastry place to not be able to fully serve their customers needs. We meandered out of the shop to eat our pastries on a warm bench outside. The tart was just ok. I took two bites then put it back in the bag. I took it home to eat it and warmed it up first. Just barely to give the crust the right amount of flakiness. It was delicious! Since there are plenty of places that will warm my pastry for me I'm not sure I'll go back unless I'm buying pastries specifically to eat at home. read more

I come in every other weekend or so for an iced oat milk latte for my daughter who happens to like to have about a 1/4 cup of oat milk on the side which they have always had no problem just giving me. This morning the cashier was unwilling to do so and would only give it to me for an additional $3.50. When I asked the barista for "just a quarter cup of oat milk" (2 oz.) she sighed poured me a 8 ounce glass of oat milk. Just to be clear this is an iced latte so half the 12 oz glass is frozen water anyway. It's half the product of a hot latte. And I did not ask for a cup of oat milk which she poured me along with an eye roll and sigh and a "we will have to charge you next time." She didn't say "here you, thanks so much, see you next time!" Which if she had said that I would be looking forward to coming in again and would tip well, but now I'm not feeling very good about this place and, if I come in again, (it would only be for my daughter) I sure won't give them any tip. read more

Not impressed! Drove 20min to get there and 20min to get back. And they gave me the wrong bread. Ordered a Levain but got some different bread with olives and nuts and other things. I love a good levain for breakfast, now I have to go all the way back to get it exchanged. If they even have any left. Lack of attention to detail is not good! read more

I eat 3-4 loaves of bread from here / week and have tried nearly all of the pastries - really exceptional bakery. My favorites are the pumpernickel rye bread and the croissant, along with Neighbor SF's the best I've had in the bay (I'd say Manresa's is lighter and less buttery, but just a matter of preference). Only disappointment's been the almond croissant - the paste uses barley malt, which gives it a distinctive taste, just not my cup of tea. read more

Good but NOT that good to justify the extreme prices. You know when you go into a place and there are no prices you had better get out fast. The only people who know the name Manresa are from around the area and/or foodies. I feel sorry for families that go into Manresa hoping to get some bread rolls and pastries - no such thing. We really love French style baked goods and were very excited when Manresa Bread opened in Los Altos. We had to try one of almost everything they make but the kouign ammans were amazing!. They are expensive, but you can't find them anywhere else, we're hooked. There are a couple of other bakeries in Los Altos that are very good, but Manresa is one of our favorites. Their very expensive rustic bread is also excellent. We have been going back for more since they opened. read more

Their dense rye loaf was excellent. Almond croissant was one of the best around. Lemon curd pistachio pastry was flaky and buttery but slightly dry and needed more curd. The KA was good but for $5 is not the best I've had. They sell Verve coffee, which is delish. Definitely a "designer" bakery. read more

Croissant only reviewed. If you didn't see it, you'd never know it was supposed ot be a croissant, but a sweet roll, w/dried almonds inside. The poor, overbaked dough had obliterated the butt er aand any layers of pastry. Nowhere near that of Voyageur around corner or Satura in town, probably not even as good as Draegers' @ 3x the price. I came here and got an almond croissant and a cup of green tea, each cost $5 so I spent $10 on a seriously disappointing coffee break. The green tea took forever I would have thought they'd gone out to pick the leaves themselves, then when I finally got my tea I smelled something familiar... rabbit food. The tea smelled and tasted like rabbit food. And then I tried the almond croissant, it got all over my face and the filling had and intense citrus flavor. It's an ALMOND croissant, it should only taste like butter and almonds. They are cocky thinking they can charge outrageous prices and people will pay just because of their reputation or because people like one of their menu items but sooner or later people will realize the scam here and rise up against costly disappointing baked goods!! read more

Would give 5 stars if they could offer little plates, ceramic coffee cups, and things to make the "For Here" crowd more comfortable. We are out yummy pastries on top napkins. But the pastries were all very very delish. The almond croissants are top notch, the savory Danish was great, and the Burnt caramel Pear Danish very good. Cappuccino was good too. Also got a whole wheat loaf for later, which smelled great. I will go back. But adding paper plates at a minimum would be a large improvement for those who dine-in. read more
