What happened to this place? Came by this morning to pick up some of their dark golden flaky croissants they're famous for and opened my box to find this sad lookin' thing. Wasn't dark golden at all but instead a pale yellow spongy thing with no flakey buttery goodness. This tasted like an old Costco croissant and it looked like it too. I understand inflation and finding good help is rampant these days but as Biden would say "come on man" ..this was just sad. I don't mind if I have to pay more or if you have to increase the prices to cover rising costs, Just don't gyp your long time customers and do them dirty by serving sub par goods like this. read more

The pastries are cold and underwhelming unless you can take them home and heat them in a toaster oven or air fryer. There is even a sign saying they don't have an oven to heat up quiches. How the hell did you bake them then? What are we supposed to do, put the quiche on top of the coffee to heat it? That said, they have the best sourdough loafs I have had in the bay area. If you're looking for bread to use at home they can't be beat. If you're looking for breakfast on-the-go, this isn't it, unless you have a toaster oven in your car. read more

I've never had one of them before then, and was pleasantly surprised by the flaky layers and subtle sweetness. It reminded me of a crispy croissant with a touch of sweetness. I met the head baker for Manresa at an event at Stanford Shopping center, and as expected she's a real pro. Her knowledge and careful curation of ingredients makes for breads that are flavorful and really easy to digest! I think the best value is the sourdough baguette, which can make many a sandwich or little toast. The bread is very hearty owing to the mix of grains, unlike the elongated pale stick that comes to mind when you think baguette. The sweet white is very nice, too. I tried a cake last time and was not as impressed with either the flavor or value, but it was still a pleasant bite. I like the coffee and staff. The pastries and bread, what they are famous for, is ok. Honestly everyone's tastes are different and I just don't get the fascination with the food. We always go to the Los Gatos location and are a big fan os Manresa and their breads as well as coffees. This was the first visit to the Los Altos location. The place is small like the one in Los Gatos. There is not much area to sit other than outside on the sidewalk benches. They had a great variety of their breads still available around 11:00AM on a Saturday. There was only one person ahead of us, the wait was minimal, the baked goods (has the monkey bread and a multigrain load to go) was as great as always and the coffee was made as expected. So happy they do have oat milk which I love with my latte as it gives it a more wholesome flavor... So grateful to have a Manresa Bread close to our house now :-) read more

On our way to another restaurant we saw Manresa Bread. I told my husband, let's stop here after we eat lunch and we can pick up some bread. Just peering in as we walked by, they had freshly made bread. After eating we went in, I saw that they not only sold bread but a few different types of pastries. We decided to get regular croissants, almond croissants, and kouign aman. They all looked so delicious. The next morning we had them for breakfast. It was so delicious. The croissants were crisp and tasty. I especially liked the almond croissants. It had an almond drizzle topping on top. The kouign aman was good but I've had better at a different place. Expensive - Los Altos prices to pay the Los Altos rents. This means $5 pastries than can be teeny tiny and $5+ coffee. 2. Only open until 3 PM. So if you arrive at 2 PM - you won't find many options. If you want your favorite item, you may have to visit in the morning. 3. There is minimal seating with only a sidewalk bench outside and a few chairs with a wall counter inside. Sorry - no pics because I just dove in. But, that's how you know it is good. TLDR; It isn't that long just read. Flaky (in a good way) and pricey. Manresa Bread is a great place to pick up freshly baked bread. You can either buy the bread they have on display, or you can specially order bread online. When you order bread online, you have to make sure to give them a couple of days. The bakery itself is a "spin-off" of their three-Michelin star restaurant, Manresa in Los Gatos, CA. This place is usually bustling with people, loud, and can become very crowded. Not only do they sell good bread, they also have amazing pastries and sell Verve Coffee, which they have specifically trained people to prepare. Essentially, you are getting good coffee with good pastries/good bread. They also serve breakfast items here, and the Avocado toast is a must-try. I would also recommend trying the Kouign-Amann, which is a sweet, flaky pastry that goes very well with coffee. Try to come early because of how busy it can get, especially on the weekends. read more

I'm obsessed with Manresa pastries. I come here too often just to try different things. I've tried their savory croissant (I believe it was ham and cheese and perhaps onion?), butter croissant, monkey bread, kouign amann, chocolate babka ($20 for the entire thing), quiche (I think it was gruyere and egg?), and lastly the Pumpernickel loaf bread. Still waiting to try their levain bread and a cookie or two. Everything was delicious and people are so friendly. I also saw they sell pies for Thanksgiving (preorder only) although I didn't purchase these. They make pumpkin, apple galette, and pecan pie (I believe pricing is about $40). I also discovered oat milk while I was here and now I'm obsessed with putting oat milk in my cappuccinos or lattes. It gives the cap a very milky thick taste that makes the coffee taste more whole. I've been to the Michelin-star restaurant of the same moniker, so I had a good feeling about the bakery, and it did not disappoint. They're best known for their kouign aman, and it was lightly sweet and perfectly flaky, with a subtly sweet filling. It felt like all the best parts of a very good croissant, and this is probably the best iteration of this I've ever tried. I preferred this to the monkey bread, which tasted similar but with a caramelized crust, so that it was more cloying (although it was good with coffee!). Love how they sell and brew Verve coffee here too, one of my favorite roasters in the Bay. This is a small shop and there isn't any indoor seating, although there are a few chairs outside. So it's not the best place to sit and study or read, but it's more of a grab-and-go type of place. read more

The food is amazing however be prepared they do not accept cash. When I asked where the notice of that was the girl pointed to the sign that was 80% hidden by a table. So it is not at all clearly posted. The food is great but lack of signage and her being rude about it took this from a 5 to a 4. Six months ago the blue berries muffins are very good with lots of blue berries from top to bottom. However, for the last two months they only put in few blue berries on top to trick you that call blue berries muffin. Few bites on top then you just eating the sweet muffin ( full of bread). I have had conversation with the manager to share my opinion to the bakery . After that nothing was change. I can buy blue berries muffin from Safeway to get more berries from top to bottom of the muffin. I tried to support a small local shop but this bread store is not provide quality of bakery. We stopped by on a Friday morning to grab some pastries for breakfast. Ended up getting the Almond Escargot and Ham & Cheese Croissant. Both were just okay in texture and taste. We were surprised that the almond escargot was whole wheat - not necessarily a deterrent, just unexpected. The ham and cheese was a little too salty for my liking. Still, a nice option to grab in the morning and walk around downtown Los Altos. I have yet to try the sourdough baguette, which many reviews seem to rave about, so maybe I'll have to come back and give that a try. read more
