Two guys in the back yaking..then finally answered, "your order is for 4:15!" I said okay, left and was back at exactly 4:15. My ordered was on shelf. Two minutes later I'm pulling out COLD chicken sandwiches. Chicken meat was moist and delicious though the breading was a bit too overcooked. Experienced a delicious lunch near the office. It was a bit pricey considering the sandwich does not come with a side, you have to order them individually. However, the food was incredibly tasty. The sandwich had the perfect combination of crunch and flavor without being greasy. The potato Mac salad reminded me of a childhood favorite at cook outs. Perfectly crisp exterior and the juiciest white chicken on the inside. You know what I'm talking about! No nasty tendon or sus looking brown pieces that you spit out. The spice is so good - they have different levels depending on your preference. I usually order the chicken strips, filling 3 piece meal. I ordered online for pickup in store (inside Rachel's Ginger Beer) and my order was ready ahead of the slated pickup time, packed well, with all extras I asked for and placed conveniently on a counter by the door so I could grab & go. The chicken itself was fresh and juicy and the size of the chicken fingers weren't wimpy at all. I ordered Medium heat level and it was perfect-- decently spicy but not melt your face off. My side of fries was crisp and had a light dusting of whatever seasoning was on my chicken; tasty, though I wouldn't consider fries essential on my next trip depending on my hunger level. The real stars of the meal were the hot honey mustard (I want this sauce on everything going forward) and the daikon pickles (if they sold these by the jar, I would buy them to snack on daily). I always stick with the medium as i find it to be well balanced. You can select between a chicken sandwich, chicken fingers which is what i always get and chicken drumsticks. As for sauce, i always get the honey mustard since there's is amazing. Was looking to try a new place amidst the weekday lunch chaos and decided on Ma'ono for takeout. My husband is a fried-chicken fiend so it seemed like a good contender. This is located in Rachel's Ginger Beer. It was easy to scan the QR code they have visibly at the front, make your order via your mobile phone, and wait until it's ready/placed at the counter. You can also order at the register if you are looking to order RGB as well but it is less time consuming if you place via mobile. There is still a wait during peak hours but there is seating (booths and barstools) inside and out. They have the large windows and the door open on sunny days so plenty of ventilation. I waited a total of 19 mins around 12:40-1pm. If you only want RGB, you'll want to wait in line for the register. I ordered a chicken sandwich (med spice) for my husband and vegetarian sandwich (med spice) for myself, a side of Mac salad, and fries. This was plenty for us to share but if you are a big eater, you'll want to get your own portion. The guava RGB is my favorite and a nice palate cleanser. Chicken sandwich (per my husband) - 4/5 Vegetarian sandwich - 4/5 - the patty coating on the outside was spicy but didn't have much flavor itself. Mac salad - 5/5 - I didn't think I'd eat the rest but I did. Fries - 3/5 - they were initially okay when warm but as they cooled. You realize how salty they are and I didn't find myself grabbing for more as I might elsewhere. A but on the pricey side - for about $13/sandwich - but I was so hungry I didn't notice until after. Pretty good chicken place, with the only issue that there is absolutely nobody to assist you with your food. Once every 5 minutes a busy packer/busser appears from behind the kitchen to put out bags with food and quickly disappears from the view. You can try desperately screaming asking for help, but your cries will not be heard. That's what happened when I needed utensils, that packer person forgot to add into the bag, and container near by was empty from both napkins and forks. I've waited for 10 minutes for some lady who pours drinks to help me to no avail. I got mild, and the savory paprika on the breading went well with the sweet/sour daikon pickles and creamy mayo. You actually can't order at the counter at this location at all, so you might as well place an online order ahead of time before walking over. Though we went around noon when they opened on Sat, and there wasn't much of a wait for the food even though we placed the order after we got there. I only had the fried chicken which I liked it was all just legs (dark meat). It was fried well, super fresh, but the seasoning was meh. I got the medium? And it was just a lot a lot of like paprika or something. I think I wanted more dimension to the spice and it just felt overloaded and not even that spicy. This is one of my go-to places that I probably eat like twice a month. And I realized that I never wrote a review! I have a high heat/spice tolerance, and they definitely aren't messing around here. After experimenting, now I typically get a medium for the sandwich, and it still has enough heat to keep it interesting. I can tolerate hot, but medium is perfectly sufficient. Once we got the XXX-Hot, and it was personally too much for me to be enjoyable. If you have a really high heat tolerance and want to try it out, my recommendation would be to get the XXX-Hot for the chicken fingers. And split the fingers with other people (while also getting a less hot sandwich). I feel like if you have one XXX-Hot chicken finger, you'll be good. Because it is the type of spice that lingers in your mouth for a while afterwards. And if you're some type of freak and that doesn't phase you, come back to get the sandwich as XXX-hot next time. Because you will want to come back. RGB is such a genius partnership. The pairing of the RGB drinks and the Ma'ono fried chicken is perfection. So it is worth coming in to the actual place and not always ordering via delivery. A review for the South Lake location. I got the chicken sandwich- honestly not best chicken sandwich I've had. It's on the dry side. The outside was okay the some bits were so dry it was hard to chew. I also got the mac salad which is pretty good if you like lots of mayo (I do). I ordered pick up and it was very fast and organized, you walk right in and it's there in alphabetical order no need to talk to anyone. I really love the chicken at Ma'ono; juicy quality meat, not too much breading and excellent spice levels for the tame to the very adventurous. I do however miss the Kimchi Mac and cheese that is offered at Uvillage. I think one complaint people (Devin G) and the other Amazombies is the ordering process. Understand it is 2 separate businesses so it is 2 different POS systems. If any of you have been to the Uvillage or Cap Hill locations it is 2 different windows which is more annoying than just running your card twice. Ok but yes bring the Mac and Cheese! read more
