I must be missing something, but I have no desire to ever return to this restaurant. Don't get me wrong, our meal was delicious. 5 stars to the Chef! Everything else, below standard. Just because it is in Scottsdale and has a $200 steak does NOT make it good experience. Atmosphere: overcrowded. Constant chair bumping and scootching. Very loud to the point we couldn't hear each other in a normal speaking voice. Service: bad on many levels. Server was arrogant and seemed annoyed when we didn't take his recommendations on apps, sides and dessert. Would take a few drink orders and leave, take one dessert order and leave. Maybe he had ADHD, but I don't want to insult actual sufferers. He would disappear for long periods of time. Never acknowledged the table as a whole. Tried to take our order before we even had our pre dinner cocktails. Comes across like he wanted to 'turn and burn' the 7 of us as quickly as possible. Not the celebratory 'experience' this restaurant markets. The support staff, which they charge you for so look at your bill for that, was visible with 2 or 3 walking around and serving food, yet we consistently had empty glassware, dirty dishes and a messy table from the appetizer course. If we were at Steak 44, Durants, Elements or the like, the table would be spotless and we wouldn't wait for anything, let alone half the tables drinks. Don't get me started on bathroom attendants. I had been dying to dine at Maple & Ash, so I reserved a table for my birthday for myself and my fiancé. Initially, I was shocked that with a reservation, I had to wait an additional 20 minutes, but once seated, our moods completely shifted. Immediately, we were served a complimentary cocktail, olives, bread and meats. Our server was well educated about the menu and helped us narrow our choices. Octopus- prepared with hummus and chimichurri? Absolutely, yes! The flavors complimented each other so well and the octopus was more than satisfactory. Mushrooms- DELECTABLE- you must order the mushrooms. I've been craving them since I left. Cooked to perfection and had the right amount of lemon. Caesar salad- loved the presentation and the flavor complimented it. Seafood tower- AMAZING. The portions were generous, and I was impressed with the scallops. Every time I eat scallops at a restaurant, I find myself disappointed, so it was refreshing to enjoy well prepared scallops! We ordered two seafood towers and it was more than enough. We were struggling to finish. Coconut cream pie- I was astonished at the slice size. It was massive! So creamy and great way to finish off the meal! I've been here twice (both times with the same friend), and the food is very good. It's quite a trendy place, and last time we were there in September 2021, it was packed (despite an ongoing pandemic). It's definitely a hotspot that's Instagram-worthy... so there are many "influencer" types there if you know what I mean. The decor is top notch, and overall there's a nice ambience to the place. It feels very luxurious. Perfect girls' night or date night spot. Food-wise, the agnolotti is amazing, as is the ribeye and seafood tower. The sea bass is not something we'd order again, but even that wasn't actually bad. Also, I am not much of a dessert person, but the coconut cream pie is the best I've ever had in my entire life, so I save room! My friend and I like to order a bunch of dishes and share. On our most recent visit, they brought out a sample cocktail to try when we were first seated (I believe it was a prickly pear martini, they said), and it was so good that I ended up ordering two full-size ones with the meal. CONS: My main criticism is about the waiter we had on this most recent visit. He was quite arrogant and generally gave off "used car salesman" vibes, and he also made us feel kind of dumb re: the seafood tower, which I will explain next. To give a bit of context, the first time we visited Maple & Ash, when we had the seafood tower, we were brought (without asking) some delicious homemade pasta that the waiter added to the tower to soak up all the buttery goodness once we finished the seafood. It was awesome and a highlight of our meal. On our most recent visit, we ordered the tower, finished the seafood, and no pasta came. My friend and I were looking forward to it, and naturally we were confused. We eventually asked a waiter what was going on after waiting for quite a while for our main waiter to check on us (they were slammed, so service wasn't super fast). So, he grabbed our regular waiter, and then he explained to us that it's an extra charge and the previous time it probably was just a "gift" from the other waiter (apparently it's down to their discretion if you don't specifically ask for it), and if we wanted to add the pasta, it'll be an extra 20 minutes and $X/person (I can't remember the amount). It just came off as condescending and trying to nickel and dime us. We declined since we already were waiting for a while (and more food was coming so we didn't want to mess it up), and it just felt tacky to be talking about extra charges for plain pasta when this was already shaping up to be a ~$400 bill (which we were happy to spend!). It just left a bad taste in our mouths how unapologetic the waiter was about it and how he went on about how special it was like he was trying to upsell us to buy it. Yeah, we know... we had it before, and I am sure he could see the disappointment on our faces. I am not someone who ever expects to get things for free (and yes I know restaurants are suffering during the pandemic, although these guys do seem to be doing VERY well), but I feel like he could have read the situation a bit better instead of making my friend and I feel like we did something wrong. I guess it's a slippery slope when one waiter does something nice on one visit since it clearly leads to false expectations... but yeah, this guy could've handled it better. Overall, we will be back... food is exceptional, but service isn't on par with what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Started with beef tartare - beef was tasty and washed down with tequila and mezcal cocktail. Opted for 200 seafood tower - talk about fresh and perfectly cooked. Tender and sweet. Decided that the prickly pear martini would be good. Got a birthday dessert with coffee martini and a gigantic birthday card. More importantly I have to give kudos to our server, Alex. My gfs and I came into town and had brunch here. Kat was our server and she was fantastic. Patient, sweet, a little sass but professional. Brunch $75/pp and everyone has to do it. King Crab Benedict- I COULD DIE now. Lol. The absolute best Benedict I've ever had. And I've had my share Lobster Hash- not my favorite, interesting flavor pallet, but still good. Truffle omelette- the perfect amount of truffle. Simple and delicious. Tuna tartare avocado test- I could have ate bowls of that tuna. Filet mignon- I'm still thinking about it 3 days later. Reading the previous reviews on here was pretty helpful when it came time to plan a dinner at Maple & Ash. I decided to come here with my friends who were in town visiting from Ohio. I sent them the menu/Yelp page ahead of time so they knew what to expect from a price point perspective. I made reservations on Open Table for 4:45p (which keep is mind 6:45p Ohio time ;)). We got there and were seated almost immediately. The ambiance here is romantic-- very dark. Much darker than other upscale restaurants. We even asked the waitress to take our pic at one point and she basically told us it wasn't worth it because the lighting is so bad lol! Our waitress started us off with a complimentary small cocktail which was bright pink. I told the waitress that I like fruity drinks and described to her what I like and she hit the mark! She ordered me the Illicit Affair. I don't even know what's in it, but it tastes amazing and the presentation is A+. It comes with a sphere-shaped ice cube with a flower frozen in the middle. Impressive! I ordered a wedge salad for a starter and it was good (don't judge, but I like the wedge salad at Outback Steakhouse better....). After much debate, I ordered the Filet Mignon. My friend and I split the sides of Brussel sprouts and the potato. It was all very good! However, I am not a fan of the thick cut, fatty bacon they used. It was on my salad and I didn't enjoy it. And then it was also on the potato and I picked them off. The filet was an exceptional cut of meat and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed that. Also, my friend got the Pillow of Love pasta and she let me have one. It was incredible! Would totally get that next time. We also went all out and each got a dessert as well. As a lover of ice cream, I went all in and got the $25 sundae which comes with basically every ice cream topping you could think of so that you can build your own dream sundae. My other friend got the coconut cream pie and the other friend got the chocolate cake. Unfortunately, my dessert was very average. Although the presentation for the sundae is fun because of all of the toppings, the ice cream itself tasted like Breyer's you could easily get in the grocery store. Also, to have that many toppings and only use 3-5 of them is wasteful IMO. I tasted my friend's chocolate cake and didn't like it at all. She also had a scoop of vanilla on her cake and agreed that the ice cream is very much "grocery store quality." However, the coconut cream pie was very good and I'd for sure recommend that. It comes out in a very long slice-- they must make it in a 13x9 pan! I braced myself for the check. I assumed it would be about $200 a person. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that even after a 20% tip, we only spent $170/person. So all told, mentally prepare yourself for a $200/person meal and just order whatever you want. I actually think for a restaurant of this caliber that a drink, appetizer, entree, side, and dessert + tip, $170 isn't that bad. AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING CULINARY EXPERIENCE. Maple & Ash is one of those place that make you forget where in the world you are. Paris? San Francisco? It has a very Great Gatsby, JFK , Marilyn Monroe feel to it. Our server Drea, was absolutely amazing the entire time. She was knowledgable, had great input about the food and drinks and was super friendly. She 100% spoiled us. For entree's, we shared the SURF & TURF, the BOLOGNESE and a side of BRUSSEL SPROUTS. The steak was butter - ughhh so good. The lobster was delicious and the mashed potatoes were creamy and simple. The bolognese was light and flavorful. The destroyed brussels were crispy and oh so good. I actually found these to be so yummy how they were presented, leafy and crispy versus the usual half brussel. Super yum. & last but most important DESSERT - we had to have it. We also weren't able to decide between our top two choices so we went with both. Cream Puff - to die for. It was light, refreshing, and freaking delicious. The puffs are made to order, fresh berries, topped with a HEAVENLY pistachio glaze. There's also a surprise key lime basil sorbet in the middle. OMG. Coconut Creme Pie - HOLY MOLY. Its huge. Last week, my wife and I returned to Maple & Ash for a second visit. Our first visit was a little disappointing, but since the food was good, we wanted to try again. For those that don't know, the restaurant has only been open around three months. Let me say right up front that on this visit, Maple & Ash was shining like a star. Our meal and the service was, in a word, AMAZING. Whatever early kinks there might have been, they were certain gone when we dined a second time. For those who want details, read on! We arrived around 6:45pm for our reservation and we were seated at a lovely table. Again, the tasting cocktail of lemon, chamomile and Effen vodka arrived almost immediately. Our dining manager/server, Megan came over, introduced herself and took our cocktail order. Shortly after, we ordered a couple of appetizers. I ordered a half-dozen Kusshi oysters and my wife ordered the Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus. Both were absolutely wonderful. The Kusshi (British Columbia) were clean tasting, rich and flavorful. My wife's octopus was perfectly prepared, with a rich buttery flavor. For our dinner wine, we chose a Duckhorn merlot. For those not familiar, Dan Duckhorn has been making some of the best merlot on the planet for about four decades. It is one of our favorites and was priced very reasonably. M&A has a very comprehensive wine list. If you can't find something you like, you aren't trying very hard. A few minutes later our entrees arrived as well as our sides. I ordered the 10oz Filet and my wife ordered the Fire-Seared Branzino. For sides, we went with the Yukon Gold Gratin and the Asparagus. Entrees first...the filet was the perfect temperature and exactly as ordered. Tender, juicy and delicious all by itself. No sauces necessary. Interestingly, on our first visit the meat had a much more pronounced flavor of the grilling woods. This time it was much more subtle and allowed the flavor of the beef to shine through. My wife's Branzino was moist, flaky and full of flavor. The wood grill gives the skin a nice char and adds great flavor notes. She absolutely loved it. A doctor friend of ours had told us it was amazing and it was. As far as the sides, the Yukon Gold Gratin was just as delicious as the first time, rich and buttery with great cheese flavor. The asparagus was also very tender and delicious. The tough outer skin of the asparagus had been peeled off leaving the tender interior with just the right amount of crispness. We finished our meal with the chocolate cake...and again, it is worth every single calorie. Be sure to save a little of your merlot to enjoy with the chocolate. The service was absolutely spot on all evening. We fell in love with Megan. She was so nice, checking in with us and taking care of our needs without being too intrusive. We will probably ask for her the next time we visit. She was amazing. She also was telling us about how the restaurant has been making some adjustments based on diner's feedback and how they are working on refining things for Scottsdale tastes and preferences, which in my mind is a very smart thing for the restaurant to do. Bottom line: Maple & Ash is now on our list of favorites. They truly knocked it out of the park on food, service and the overall dining experience. Love how they customized a menu for celebrating occasions. We got the IDGAF and it started with oyster caviar vodka shots. Followed by a seafood tower which had prawns, scallops, clams, oysters, and lobsters. From there, they have a pasta they pour into and mix with the remaining flavor and juice from the seafood and it was a flavor explosion. Next we had a wedge salad which came with an onion ring and pieces of candy bacon and tuna tartar. For the main course, we had a cooked to literal perfection medium rare ribeye along with Branzino which was amazing with its herb crust. Side wise, we wanted to make sure we tried the Mac and cheese and they also brought out asparagus along with the pillows of love pasta which a flavorful explosion of cheese happens kn your mouth upon biting into. Finally, dessert is a make your own sundae bar. The ice cream tower of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla comes accompanied with hot fudge, Carmel sauce, sprinkles, cherries, coconut shavings, white truffle chocolate, and oreos. We had an amazing evening at Maple & Ash! We were warmly greeted upon entry (and had our temperatures taken) and seated immediately. Each table is provided with a taste of a specialty cocktail, bread and some small charcuterie items upon being seated, which was a really nice touch. Of course, the food was the standout. We ordered the Filet Mignon, Bone-In Ribeye, and Branzino fish and they were all outstanding. We were equally impressed with the Mac & Cheese, Bubbling Potato Gratin, and Brussel Sprout sides, which are all family-style for the table to share. Our waiter Josh really made the experience. He was friendly, helpful, and made it a truly memorable night. We all appreciated his service, and he is a huge part of the reason we had a great evening. Thank you Josh!!! Walked in and immediately knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere and vibes in here are immaculate. The service is excellent and their menu is superb. We started off with the caviar, the French onion soup, bone barrow, the wedge salad, and the beef carpaccio. Everything was on point. Our sommelier Garrett gave us his recommendations and we were so happy we took his advice. The main dishes we ordered were a medium ribeye, the pillows of love (my favorite), the mushrooms, and the Mac and cheese. I can't explain how delicious these were. My husband and I came here for our 21 year anniversary on Sept 11th. We did the I don't give a F*** meal, which was pricey but delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner... it was amazing and the service was awesome. However within a fee hours of eating here we were both so sick... like food poisoning sick. I left a message and was told management would contact us... and no one did!!! We dropped over $600 on a meal for two and I ended up missing a flight Monday morning because I was so sick for 24 hours following eating here. Now... We were told to check out Maple and Ash on our whirlwind visit to Scottsdale. You need reservations and ours were at 9pm on a Wednesday, the place was hopping! This is definitely an event. Our waiter, Michael, started us off with a splash of a welcome libation. Prickly Pear followed by warm bread, breakfast radishes, olives and salami. We split the toasted golden beet salad that was a mouth party on a bed of burrata style cheese with a little marscapone, arugula, lemon vinaigrette, so yummy. Dude had the salmon, I had the Bolognese-equally fantastic. That said I was swilling a PURPLE, lavender gin fizz...the sides of mashed potatoes were SINFUL. Waygu filet was good, not the best we have ever had but still tasty and cooked like we wanted. Very good but not sure how much better it actually is compared to their regular filet. This place is so good; I want to go to other locations of the restaurant. We went here to celebrate my friend birthday. This is my first time at this restaurant and I must say I loved it. I have a friend who lives in Chicago and it makes me want to try the other locations. I am form New York and they do not have a location in Mew York. Well let's talk about this food so this food is delicious I had the crab Benedict and the amount of the crab was perfect a good amount. Their bacon is amazing; I still think of this bacon. Their food is so delicious and their service is also amazing. They had a dj and it was such a lovely atmosphere. They also did refill my glass but I would say it was a little slow with the refilling. It was busy so it was not a deal breaker. This place was so wonderful as I write this review it makes me want to back. I do plan to go to the location in Chicago because I want to the seafood tower. I want a location in New York so I would can go their regularly. They also give you berries to put in your mimosas. The sides are all shared so I think it is great family brunch style. Then you choose your own entree and that is for one person. I really enjoyed everything about this meal. read more

What a great time for Sunday brunch! Professional staff, super friendly and kind. The food was outstanding! But the 5 stars go to our server Amy. She is a total rockstar! I will definitely return to try dinner next. Thank you Amy for making our experience so amazing and memorable! Make a reservation, sit back and enjoy the experience for brunch. It is worth it! We did the "I Don't Give a F@#k" menu. Prepare to be well fed and indulged! Mmmm... We both had the breakfast burger. The real winner was the char grilled seafood tower. Do not pass this up! read more
