Marathon Burger is a cool spot and aesthetically I can see where it has potential to be excellent! I mean who doesn't love to listen to all the great bops while waiting to order?? And the fact that it's a Nipsey branded spot makes you wanna patronize-especially those of us who are fans! I just was not a fan of the politics I had to go through to get to the food! It's popular so it really wasn't the wait that bothered me, I was more so irritated by the security/outside crowd control cat who would keep letting folks he knew walk up and cut the line! When I arrived the line wasn't even that long but with him continuously stopping folks and letting his friends/ family etc. cut through, it made for quite an unpleasant experience! There was a party of five who were in front of me who left because although there was only 3 people ahead of them, he just kept letting people walk up and get in front of them.. There was a few celebrities and VIPs in the actual restaurant when I arrived and I didn't have a problem with that. I think that it's cool for them to be tucked safely inside. But if you're not VIP enough to be inside, you need to stand in line like everybody else! Plus the security was super rude to folks after they order; screaming you need to go sit in your car and come back in 30 minutes or so until it's ready! It's like bro, this is Melrose- there's no parking lot! Most of us parked far and walked over and some of us Ubered there so like honestly, where should we go? Plus it's 2am, y'all stay open till 3am are we really supposed to go kick it in the neighborhood till our food is ready? I don't know, it just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.. I went to my car and waited the 30 and came back. My order wasn't ready so he told me to go back and wait till they called my name- I was parked down the street so how was i to hear that? I just walked to the corner and waited another 20 for them to call my name. By far, the most upsetting part of my Marathon burger experience was the fact that my food was luke warm at best.. To wait all that time and be served cold fries and a room temp burger was super disappointing! read more

I had a Marathon Combo. Fries were really well seasoned! Strawberry shake was really good! The burger is definitely unique! It's a great burger, it's got kick from the peppers ! So tried this place out due to al the hype and all right . 1st time I came was on a Sunday around 4pm . Ordered a burger combo and chicken strip combo and it's strawberry milkshake. Waited about 45mins . Still no food . Kept asking about my food till I got told that the only thing I had ordered was a milkshake . Told them I literally paid 60$ for a milkshake then . Turns out they lost my ticket waited another 30 mins for my food . 2nd time I came had to give it another chance since I didn't enjoy food the first time form the experience I was upset. Well showed on a Saturday and to get there at 11:30 and get told they closed in store I have to order online . So I do . Eta for my food was 25mins Well ended up waiting over and hour again . This place has some bad service for this is not gourmet burger shouldn't take forever . If you wanna wait for an hour for a basic burger then go for it . Not my thing . Went for the first time a couple weeks ago and enjoyed the food. I ordered thru door dash for pick up because I was not going to stand in line which is always wrapped around the corner. I went to pick up my food but still had to wait about 5-10 mins. I ordered a marathon burger, fries n pineapple soda w/extra fries. It was really good, there were these peppers in the burger that gave it a nice spicy taste and the brioche bun was so soft and good, the fries were well seasoned but not hot enough when I got it and I asked for extra fries but were not in my bag, but I was given a refund thru door dash. The drink was good, maybe too much ice but it was still good. I would give it an 8/10 and would definitely be going back and trying something else different and to support Nipsey Hussle and his brother Sam's establishment to continue to support the marathon brand. Food is delicious. They're doing well with keeping Nipseys legacy thriving. If you don't want to wait in line you can use Uber Eats! I got my food delivered to the Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was delivered on a motorbike so he whipped through traffic to bring me fresh food! I loved the convenience of enjoying an omakase experience while waiting for this special delivery. I ordered shrimp, wings and burgers all of which are incredible! I highly recommend! read more

Wow Marathon Burger had me smiling from ear to ear on the way back home. Superb lemon pepper hot wings. The spiciness was just perfect and the lemon pepper was the perfect combination for wings. The Marathon Burger was delicious, high quality ingredients. The bread was fantastic, soft but doesn't break and the Fresno peppers give it a nice added flavor. Everyone was friendly, and helpful. I have no idea if it's good the line is always at least 2 hrs just to order, then another hr wait after the order has been taken. That's a big no from me. I don't care about what race owns it or if it's Nippsy Hustle's brother or whatever the story, I'm not waiting for anything that long. read more

I had the Chicken Strip Basket Combo, but I wasn't really impressed. The sauce i thought was supposed to come on the side, but it didn't. When my delivery driver waited twenty minutes to even get my order, I was surprised to find that the chicken was cold. To make matters worse, they didn't even follow the instructions and gave me a pineapple soda instead of the Arnold Palmer with Blue Lemonade that I had ordered. I'm allergic to pineapple, so this was a serious mistake. I'm disappointed that they can't pay attention to details, especially when they make us wait so long and don't have a dedicated pickup or delivery line. You all should rethink your logistics. Marathon Burger is the perfect moniker for this establishment because the service is slow and wait time is ridiculously long. I assumed the establishment was in Crenshaw originally and saw it was 7 miles North of where I was in Lemeirt. When I arrived, it took 10 min to find parking. After parking, we waited 15 min outside just to place an order. We placed our orders and was told it'd be a 30-40 min wait. I asked how I'd know our food would be ready and the cashier told me they'd call our name. I asked for a receipt and was told one could be texted to me. So glad I did because it was the only way I would know it took over 2hrs before actually getting my food. *Orders are taken on slips of paper that get handed over to cooks. If for whatever the slip gets lost or ruined, there is no way of knowing your order. There needs to be a better way of tracking orders and updating customers so they aren't constantly asking when there meal is ready. *At the 40 min mark, I checked to see if my food was ready. The same cashier that took my order said it wasn't. While waiting outside, a man over the intercom thanks us for dining here but reminded us that "this isn't a fast food place" several times. It's also not fine dining so there's no reason why my burger, fries, and wings took over 2 hours to be prepared + given to me. *While waiting for my food, I saw many things that would alarm any Food and Safety inspector. Why are the people preparing food, dapping up customers without changing gloves? Why are people preparing food eating in the same area food is being prepared??? Why are employees of the restaurant allowing guests to place their belongings in the area food is sitting to be given to guests??? Why are the same gloves used to touch money going to prepare food for customers???? *An hour and half into waiting, another announcement is made. The same person who said "this isn't a fast food place" explained that if you're ordering anything other than a burger + fries, there will be a wait. He also added that "they are making everything fresh and don't want your fries to get cold while your other items are waiting to be cooked". No wait time was given while we continued waiting for our food. Why was this not communicated when my order was placed?? As more people continued to order, the cashier continued lying to customers about it being a 30-40 min wait. *The only people I saw get their food in a timely manner were those dapping up people behind the counter. The selective treatment towards customers in plane view was disturbing having already wasted hours on non fine dining food. *On my 3rd inquiry about my order, some man went to the back to check on it. He came to ask for my name and the items I ordered. A few minutes later, our food was brought out. No apology for the wait. No complimentary items. No thank you for your patience. An hour and half in I already made up my mind to never come back here again. I walked to my car and ate the non fast food burger and fries and wings. You would've thought that the almost 2 1/2 hour wait would've been worth it. *stares into the camera* The food we received wasn't even warm, it was room temp. Didn't even make sense going back to complain because I would've had to wait even longer. Learned my lesson and will be sticking to marathons that have to do with actual running. read more

To start off the burger is great ! I got the marathon with a side of fries and a sweet tea . The burger melts in your mouth and the peppers are a nice touch . As for the fries they're shoe string and a good compliment. The sweet tea isn't too sweet which I liked. They have a few kinks to work out . Like the music was too loud to even order or hear when yours was ready . Otherwise , it's a great place to grab a burger at an authentic old style diner . read more

The small burger and fries were fine. The blue lemonade was too sweet for me. The brioche bun was soft and fluffy but not sweet, which I liked. The spicy relish was delicious. The shoestring fries were ok, I liked the light garlic flavor. It's nothing special, there are cheaper options in the area and you can bring your own hot sauce if you want spicy. read more

The Portobello burger is amazingly delicious. However, I went back for the Tiger shrimp basket and I'm disappointed in the size/amount for the price. They were a little over seasoned. The fries were also a bit soft and over seasoned. I always order my drinks with no ice and this time the lemonade was sweeter than the last time. Being that I have to travel such a short distance for 30-45 minutes each way, I'd expect better. I don't know if it was a one-off but I'm not willing to find out. I don't eat meat or dairy, so I do appreciate that this place caters to all eating lifestyles. Needless to say, the services is always welcoming and inviting with the staff. No complaints. I typically DoorDash my order because there's sometimes too much going on at the location. So tonight I ordered my special, the hot wing basket with the mcducc sauce. When I opened up the box of wings, I immediately realized today is not a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday because whoever cooks the wings that day does an absolutely amazing job. Whoever cooks the wings on Fridays needs to learn from the other person because the weekend wings are absolutely trash. read more

DONT DRIVE FAR AND WASTE YOUR TIME!!! NOT WORTH IT!! We went out to eat and my bf decided he wanted to finally try the marathon burger, as a fan of Nipsey! BUT, when we got there.. there was so many people waiting, being rude with no direction where to order, it was a mess!!! Only way to order was online doordash etc....Very unprofessional !! It's so sad that they're representing his restaurant this way! To top it all off SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE SMOKING WEED filling it up with alot of smoke, like it was a thing to do while waiting for food RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BUISNESS. PEOPLE SHOW NO RESPECT!!! The employees were witnessing this and they did not care at all! It made it feel really nasty and dirty to eat! We ended up leaving to eat elsewhere! Such a ghetto experience. Great burger and fries. Quality beef, well prepared and the flavors, particularly the peppers they put on the Marathon burger work well together. The fries are a cut above most fast food fries and the sauce they give you is excellent. The staff was cool, they were busy but the service was fast. (I ONLY tried the chicken sandwich and the wings no beef) Had some confusion with my order with things missing originally which was annoying at first but I gotta shoutout the manager for working with me and fixing the issue. She got me a fresh batch of hot wings and fries that were crispy and super tasty. So after the initial issue I'd give a major shoutout to the service and the chicken was good too. It'll be crowded in there so dont go if you're in a rush, but if you have a good 20-30 mins to wait for your food, its worth the try! read more

My wife and I were excited to try this spot since we were on this side of town, but unfortunately, it was a poor experience. The atmosphere was pretty chill, but we were in line for an hour & a half. We're pescatarian, so we decided to get the vegan burger. Big mistake. I know it says it's made of rice and potato, but that shit was basically a southwest hash brown on a bun. They also forgot to put tomato & onion on the burgers, PLUS the fries were overcooked and cold. I spent $46 for 2 combos. What really sucked is, the people in front of us got their food, and it was 4 of them. 30 minutes later, one of the ladies in the group asked my wife, "Damn, y'all still haven't gotten your food YET???" No. No, we haven't. The couple behind us in line managed to get their food before us and sat at the counter and got their food fresh & hot. Tf was that about? I had to go to the counter just to ask if my order was ready...I want to support a Black business and try the Tiger shrimp, but I don't wanna wait in line for a week just to get it. Word of advice, if you want to come here, clear out 7 hours of your day, be prepared to look all over the neighborhood for parking, bring ear plugs for the loud music, and have some patience. read more

Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. Once inside, the atmosphere was disappointing--none of the staff greeted us or made any effort to be welcoming. I overheard one of the employees casually mention that she needed her braids redone, which further contributed to the unprofessional environment. I ordered a vegan burger, but was not informed that it would take close to an hour to prepare. Had I known, I would have chosen something else. After waiting a considerable amount of time, I got up twice to inquire about my order. The first time, the staff member couldn't locate my ticket. The second time, she returned and asked me what I had ordered. When I repeated my order, she responded that the vegan burger was being prepared in the back. Additionally, I noticed that none of the kitchen staff were wearing hair nets, and several had long braids hanging down while handling food, which raises hygiene concerns. After my second inquiry, the staff members seemed visibly annoyed, and it felt as though they were speaking negatively about me--which, although I wasn't bothered by personally, is not the kind of customer service anyone should receive. Rating: 1/5 I really wanted to support this black-owned business, but my experience was a huge disappointment. My family and I stood in line for over 2 hours, and once we finally ordered, it took another hour and a half to receive our food. To make matters worse, the order was wrong, and we had to wait yet another hour for the correct one -- only for it to be wrong AGAIN! When we finally got our food, it was cold, and the blue raspberry lemonade tasted like blue Kool-Aid mixed with lemon -- definitely not what I was expecting. On top of that, the restrooms didn't have sinks to wash your hands, which felt really unsanitary. The chaos at the register made me hesitant about how to pay, as it was unclear who was handling the transactions. I wasn't sure if I should give cash or my card, especially with so many people in the kitchen and around the register. I really wanted this to be a great experience, but unfortunately, it wasn't worth the long drive or the money spent. My experience at Marathon Burger was beyond frustrating. I waited an unbelievable 1.5 hours for my order. Despite trying to get an update, an armed security guard simply stated I had to wait due to a catering order. I watched in disbelief as 20+ customers who arrived and ordered after me got their food, ate, and left while I was still waiting. The lack of accountability and communication was appalling. No staff member bothered to check in or apologize. The security guard's condescending remark about this not being "McDonald's" was ironic, considering the cooks were working at a similar pace, but without any of McDonald's efficiency or organization. After the excessive wait, my food was a complete bust: cold burgers, diluted drinks (prepped too early), and hard, cold fries. This place is severely overhyped and poorly run. For a quality burger and a decent experience, do yourself a favor and go to For The Win down the street. I truly regret my visit and cannot recommend Marathon Burger. Another Victory Lap for The Marathon brand! MARATHON burger! I decided to try their vegan burger along with some fries, and I must say, it's not easy to impress me when it comes to plant-based dishes. However, this one hit the spot perfectly. The flavors were right on, and the spice level was just perfect. I had the chance to visit the restaurant before it officially opened, and the customer service was exceptional. My food arrived in under ten minutes! Since the grand opening, I've heard tales of long lines, and with the number of Nipsey Hussle fans in Los Angeles and beyond, I can only imagine the excitement. It's heartwarming to see fans come together to support and pay tribute to Nipsey. Just a heads up, be prepared to wait a bit. As for the prices, keep in mind this isn't your typical fast-food joint like In-N-Out, especially with its location on Melrose.
