After having driven the same car for 22 years, and as a female, I was nervous about going through the process of buying a new car given that I haven't had much experience. I have been meaning to post this for some time. I have been going to Marin Mazda since they opened the new place, and I have had very good and kind service overall, but I experienced EXCEPTIONAL customer service and car car during an incident in September that I have to share here. My car (a CX-9) has been great, was pushing 100K, and had been plagued by a mysterious skipping and shudder for several weeks. Marco and his team had one theory they tested out (after driving with me in the car to be sure that we were all on the same page with what was happening), and did repairs that cost me about $1000. Unfortunately, this did NOT solve the problem. I called and expressed my dismay. Marco called me right back, apologized and said they would work with me at minimal cost to find the problem and fix it -- and he would work me into their schedule as soon as I could get back in (I live in Oakland). Long story shorter -- not only did they get me in, they fixed it, bought me lunch while I waited, replaced parts (it was something other than they originally thought), and set me off on my way with NO ADDITIONAL charges. What is better is that my car was now fixed. I have never experienced such great service in my life, and I am now totally sold on this place and a BIG FAN! read more

Poor customer Service. Interested in a 1956 Bel Air they have for sale. Add said to make an offer, asked their best price and he replied "the price is listed, is it not" Why would their add say make an offer if they are going to be rude for asking about one. I snapped at him and then he called me "Potsy" which I assume is making fun of me for wanting a classic car. I was a serious buyer but now feel awful for being treated in such away. 5 stars are an understatement for Marin Mazda. From pre to post purchase they provide the absolute best customer service! and the best, no pressure, pricing!! I met Mike Glasser, CEO, way back when he assisted with the purchase of my first ever SUV. Then in 2011 I found him and his dealership again in San Rafael where I procured a vehicle later passed on to my daughter. This past week I was looking again. No longer in Marin, I started my search up north visiting several dealerships before emailing with Mark Neal, MM Sales Associate, began. He responded to every inquiry and price and financing, Sam Keller Financial Manager, was agreed on. I drove down and was surprised to find Mike and his team yet again. I have had only wonderful experiences at Marin Mazda. I have purchased a used car and gotten tons of free advice as well as reasonably priced service. I appreciate how I feel welcome and that it is like buying or servicing my car with friends. There are grouches everywhere and bad days happen for everyone, but I think Mazda's new ownership is only going up! Everyone was so nice and I didn't get that "slimy car salesman " vibe at all. I've experienced that in the past which has made me leery of buying cars at dealerships. Very few people like car buying but my experience with Marin Mazda was terrific. Everybody I worked with, from the owner Mike, to the sales staff including Geoffrey and Steve, were great and went out of their way to make sure I was happy. No high-pressure tactics at all. I had done a lot of research on the particular model I wanted (a 2017 CX-5) and competitive pricing. They had to search pretty high and low to find the particular vehicle for me, but they found it, met my price, and didn't try to upcharge me for the dealer swap. Great car, great experience, and no nonsense ownership that really cares. I know they've had some bumps on the service side transitioning to the new franchise (they were formally Mitsubishi) but they are very responsive to issues as they come up. read more

Do not go here. Horrible service. Was emailing back and forth with Michael Glasser(ceo?) and another rep. Was told to come in look at the cars and would be able to test drive(as any would assume before purchasing a used car) Drove 45 minutes out here for nothing was told car I wanted to look at was in another lot down the road so they said they would call who was down there to let them know I'm on my way already. Upon getting there saw doors were wide open with a male sitting inside doing nothing so me and my mechanic friend and other friend(owns body shop) started looking for the car I was going to look at. Was there probably 15 20 minutes finally went inside upon entering I said hello how are you doing. The older male sitting at his desk didn't even look up at me and said were closed? I look at the time it is 5:05 website says 7pm close nothing about 5 also would figure you would say something the entire time you have three people in your car lot looking at cars. After he stated they were closed I began telling him i've Been emailing back and forth and was told to come down and I could look at the cars and a test drive would not be a problem. He begins to talk over me and tell me that they don't do test drives at all period. As I begin to tell him again that I was told it wouldn't be a problem he then try's to make me feel stupid I'm assuming because he says don't you watch the news there's a pandemic it's illegal to do test drives right now( which is a lie as I've been to other dealerships and during this time test drives are to be done without the dealer in the car) again I tell him obviously I know what's going on as I stated I would not have drove 45 minutes out here had I not been told it was going to be an issue. Again if it was not clear he had no intention on making any effort to do anything he then begins to make us feel unwanted and unwelcome by stating "look I can't just let you guys test drive 4 or 5 different cars and end up not buying anything"?? That was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. As I was the only one going to be doing any buying or driving I guess if he wouldn't have just assumed that 3 younger latino men would be able to afford a 20 to 30,000$ used car As my credit is great have previous history of paying off car finances no leasing and I had 15K in my pocket to drop for the down payment that day. It was a blessing tho I would have wasted my money at this lot as mechanic and body shop owner told me most the cars in that lot look like they were bought from auction or salvage yard and had the repairs done under the table at the numerous body shops in the area(red flag) to avoid any carfax accident reports/frame damage. To make matters worse I asked who I was speaking to and it was Michael brewer (part owner) if that doesn't tell you to stay away if this type of attitude and unprofessionalism is coming from the main owners then just take your business elsewhere I would never recommend them to my worse enemy a complete waste of your time and effort there's plenty of real dealerships to choose from. Left from there and found another dealership close by and it was a complete 180 from everything I experienced here. The dealership had also told me they hear a lot of bad things about this Marin Mazda now as they are under new ownership it has changed for the worse as was my experience with the top 2 of their dealership was bad you can only assume it's not gona get any better the lower ypick wisely do not waste your time or hard earned money here upon reading the other reviews on here(always gota check the bad reviews over the fake 5 star reviews) it seems there is a common theme amongst the service you receive depending on your appearance actions speak louder then words you can say everyone is treated the same I've never felt compelled to make any statement like that about any business or dealership but I felt so strongly about this after years of having yelp finally made a account just to post this review in hopes it will help you avoid this place at all costs. I went in today to look at cars. I walked around 10 minutes and no one came to greet me. I actually had to go into the building where I was met by this unenthusiastic man who did not get up from behind his desk. The whole 5 minutes he helped me, he seemed annoyed that I interrupted his paperwork. He was unfriendly, rude, seemed bothered by my presence. SO different from the service I used to get when Mazda was merged with Subaru up the road. I was shocked. I won't there again. read more

I wanted to give some recognition to Marin Mazda and their employees for a great car buying process. I worked with Tony Ayala as my salesperson and he was at all times professional and helpful. He clearly and honestly helped me feel confident that the used car I was buying was mechanically sound, and then helped source and complete the updates and changes I wanted to make to the car until every detail was just as I wanted. He quickly and efficiently set up the diagnostic engine tests I asked for, a full detailing of the car, competitive financing at a local credit union, and the installing of requested parts at their state of the art facility. He also recommended and set me up with quality vendors for a full powder coat wheel painting, and protective body wrap. He even was able to personally recommend a quality mechanic where I live, since I was buying an American made car that my trusted shop didn't service. When it came time to finalize the deal, I worked with their financing representative, Dave Platt. He was both friendly and responsive to the details that needed to be worked out for the process to be complete, fair, and fast. I took my car in for a prepaid service today (just oil change and tire rotation). All went smoothly and I had none of the teething problems mentioned in previous reviews. I've taken off one star because I was told on the phone when making the appointment that it would take an hour - so I'd decided to wait. It actually took 2 hours. This was by far the easiest most pleasant car buging experience ever. It literally took less than 1 day for everything. They are different becausd I saw the car I wanted on their website, called Jeffrey, and it was there and ready. In the month prior hitting all the dealerships in Roseville and a few in Folsom, that almost never happened; whenever I saw what I wanted on the website there was always some problem. Jeffrey was so attentive and courteous from the first phone call. He understood I would be coming driving over 100 miles to see this car and wanted to make things as easy as possible for me. He sent me online app and in just a minute or two after completing he called with good news. He offered me his cell to call and let him know when I would make the drive so he could make sure it was still there. When they closed for the evening he called to tell me it was still there. When I arrived the next day I drove it, and bought it witbout it taking 5 hours. Dave was amazing, it was such a nice experience sitting with him to finalize all the paperwork. I wanted to let Marin County know how great the customer service was at Marin Mazda. Usually when you go to a dealership you feel obligated to commit to something. That was not the case on our visit to Marin Mazda. We went in to see what options would work best for my sister with no plan to buy a car yet. Their was a zero pressure but friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere provided to us by one of your representatives Sean. He was able to answer all of our questions in professional manner and found cars that were in our budget and to our specifications. He even provided us with print outs of vehicle(s) with specs and info so we could become more knowledgeable about the cars and the options available to us. It was a one of a kind experience for us. I got my used Audi from Mike and his team at Marin Mazda a while back. I've been meaning to write this review and am glad I waited because I have more to report. First let's talk about the buying experience. I knew the car I wanted, did a search on carguru's and the Q5 I wanted popped up on their website. I called and asked for the best deal in advance and they were clear that their prices are really good and that they only have a little room for negotiation on every car, but not a lot of room on any car. I like the way they explained it and I knew the price was great at list price. I did the online application because they convinced me they could beat my credit union's interest rate and guess what, they did. Even though they only beat it by 1/2% point, money is money and they saved me some. So I decided to make the trip to get the car - car was as described and even nicer that I expected. I signed the papers, utilzing their better financing terms, bought the extended warranty and drove home. All this in under one hour! Funny thing is there office is really small and they had 3 folks trying to buy cars, but only two guys who could do paperwork, so I was glad to be first, but they were so quick that the person waiting only had to wait about 15 minutes. Now 6 months later, I took my car to the Audi dealer for a recall and they found a 'minor' oil leak. I informed them that a copy of the extended warranty I purchased was in the glove compartment. I presume the service adviser grabbed it , called the company and got the $600 repair approved because the next time I heard from him, he said "car is fixed, your extended warranty company covered the repair" and all you owe is the $100 deductible! I was so happy to have the extended warranty and more happy that the Audi dealer could use it and was happy to utilize it. Mike preached to me that they strive to provide a pleasant car buying experience, before, during and after the sale. I needed a new car and went to almost every dealership in San Rafael to test drive both new and used vehicles. I was just about to buy a new Mazda because this dealership was the friendliest and the cars were great...however, I had wanted a small Mercedes wagon. As I was there for the last time, I saw a used one. The dealership did not hesitate to let me testdrive and purchase this instead of the Mazda. No pressure. This was my first time taking my beloved 2005 Miata to this new Mazda dealership/service site, and it was a great experience: I received smooth and efficient help from Tom when I arrived at the Service Department; Lily arranged for transport back to my house then later back to pick up my car after the service work was complete; they also washed my Miata so it was bright and shiny when I came to pick it up. One other plus: Marin Mazda had all my Miata's service records in their system which made this a very easy transition from the old Mazda service site to this new one. SO! Bought a car here from Mike and Geoffrey back in late March and it was absolutely the best car-buying experience I've had. Ever. I talked with Mike via email and phone before coming down to the dealership and was asking about the used cars and he was very helpful in answering all my questions. I was trying to decide between a few different brands. He invited me down to drive them and compare them in person. I came down the next evening after work looked at the cars and narrowed it down to an Audi A6 or Q5. After they took a copy of my license and insurance, he gave me the keys and said to come back when I'd finished. He did give me a quick intro as to how all the controls worked but since I'd driven an Audi before, it was all familiar. I took each car out for about 30 min and was really able to get a feel for them. It was great being able to just drive the car without being on a timed, predetermined, test drive route. I liked them both and wanted to let my family have some input, so I asked if I could come back with them over the weekend and do the test drives again. Mike was very accommodating and actually encouraged the idea. He offered to let us take each one out for a couple hours and drive until we had made the decision. I came back that weekend (Mike was off that day, but Geoffrey took over and already knew about everything Mike and I had discussed) and drove out with the A6. Overall, I was very pleased with the upfront approach Mike and Geoffrey had with all aspects of my experience. Regarding the car, pricing, and financing- it was absolutely the easiest buying experience I've had. I'm an analyst by profession, so I was very attentive to all the numbers- from the price of the car, to the potential warranty cost/coverage, and all the financing amounts. I did a ton of research on the price of the car and I must say that their original price was already a good discount compared to other comps I found. I appreciated not having to negotiate or feel like I was being taken for a ride when it came to the price. Regarding the financing, there were no hidden costs, nothing popped up unexpected, everything was clear, and the couple questions I had were answered clearly. Financing was exactly how I calculated it should be. At the end of the day, the feeling I got when buying from Mike and Geoffrey was that they approach the sale as if saying "This is what we have to offer, it's at a fair price, and if you like it, great, we're glad to help. If it doesn't suit your needs, that's OK too, maybe we can help point you in the right direction, whether that's a different car or even a different dealership." Marin Mazda changed ownership about a year ago and is now run by Mike Glasser, formerly with Marin Mitsubishi. So don't look at old reviews. It's a totally different place now. Mike Glasser is the most honest, reliable, friendly, connected, no-pressure car dealer I've ever worked with. Wherever Mike goes, I go, because it's not the car so much as the service, expertise, dependability, trustworthiness. Customer service is fabulous. I had to drop my car off for some new tires, and they called, and paid for, an Uber to drive me to and from work. Instead of replacing all 4 tires that I thought I needed, they told me that 2 were still good and I only needed 2 new ones. After service, they washed my car. Everyone smiling. AND - he won't push a new car at you because he loves selling used cars. He has a separate dealership in Roseville that only sells used cars, so his selection is huge. And if he doesn't have what you want, he will try and find it, make sure it's in good shape, get you a great deal, and will work to get the best credit possible. read more

All-around wonderful experience at Marin Mazda. I had to bring my car in for an inspection and Rosalinda, their Service Manager, couldn't have been nicer during my visit. She kept me informed regarding the status of my vehicle, and called/paid for an Uber to get me to and from work. I felt like a valued customer, which is rare these days. I'd been wanting to purchase a new Mazda, so a few weeks after my service visit, I went to the showroom and spoke with Mike Glasser. Best car buying experience I've ever had! Mike was friendly and awesome to work with. He managed to locate the exact vehicle (color, model, options package) I wanted within a day, and by day two, I was driving off the lot in my new Mazda 3 hatchback. Marin Mazda is amazing. You really have to stop by and check out their inventories. Not only they have all the last Mazda models but they also have a whole bunch of killer deals on other cars too. The staff is welcoming but not too overwhelming as you step in the lot. People there understand that when you are curious about a car, you want to have a look at it on your own watch, without a hungry salesman on your back. When I went there I went in the lot outside looking at the different models, then I was finally ready to have a chat, Sean, one of the sale representatives there came to greet me with a smile and a great attitude. I loved his direct and honest approach about the cars, as well as his high knowledge of each model, which made me narrow my search very fast. As far as numbers, Marin Mazda is super competitive, and the process of negotiating was a walk in the park. They are willing to help a lot. Unfortunately, I've had to update my original review. I've been trying for a few weeks to take my Mazda back in for service but haven't been able to schedule a service appointment with them because of my work/commute situation. It turns out that this dealership does NOT have Saturday service hours. I've called a few other Bay Area Mazda service centers and ALL of them have Saturday hours. I'm disappointed that this particular center does not have at least one week night of later hours or at least Saturday service hours. I may have to take my car to the City to have service done. *sigh* read more

I was greeted right away and quickly approached by an employee; they seemed to be well trained and extremely knowledgeable. I wasn't exactly sure of what I was looking for, but the gentlemen helping me took the time to explain things in terms I could understand and gave me a solid list of pros and cons to purchasing each of the different vehicles I was looking at. Marin Mazda had lots of cars and SUVs to choose from which gave me a chance to sit in and fully check out my potential new car. When I finally found my new SUV, that would comfortably fit my family, it came time to handling the worst part.... the PRICE! (It was such an easy process). My 2018 Mazda 3 was losing power and throwing codes. I called the Mazda dealership in San Francisco where I had bought the car, and they told me it would take a week to get me in, and if I wanted a loaner or any information on warranty I needed to call the 'roadside assistance number'. In other words, no customer service once the vehicle is purchased. So I called Marin Mazda. They told me I could bring it up immediately, and when I got there they checked in the car and handed me a loaner key - for the same car model and year. I got a text message later in the day that the car was ready, there was no charge, and I could come by at my convenience to pick it up. They even washed it. I was flabbergasted. I didn't have to ask for a loaner, I didn't have to haggle about cost. They were superb. I'm absolutely taking my Mazda 3 to Marin Mazda from now on. I don't know why anyone with a Mazda would go anywhere else. read more
