The view is really great here. Honestly beautiful. The beer selection is good too but after that this place was a disappointment. My bartender was rude. The wait for a table was at least 30 mins past the estimate. I put out an APB to find our waiter. The Manhattan clam chowder tasted more like red clam sauce - like tomato sauce. My burger was undercooked and cold plus it took at almost 45 mins to get it. To get our check was a mission as well. Marina Grill could be a great restaurant on the water and the food is tasty, if not for the ear-bleeding noise level and suspect service. Our server tried to rip us off not once but twice on our first visit. I ordered the Caesar Salad, $8., with grilled shrimp - add $6. When the bill came we were charged $8 for the shrimp. I asked the waitress for the menu and pointed the error out to her. She said she'd ask the manager about it --? She returned with the corrected bill, and explained that the manager had approved "an adjustment". Nah, an adjustment is made when the customer presents a coupon or other promotion. This was their error! Second Ripoff: When we went to pay the bill, my friend put her share in cash - $14 - in the check folder and I inserted my debit card for the balance of $26.09. Only the same waitress brought back a bill for $40.09. I asked what happened to the $14. She whipped out another check folder from under her arm and there was the $14 in cash. "I thought that was my tip," she said. Really? A 35% reward for "adjusting" my bill so that it matched the menu? I think not!! She got 10% for providing the lesson: Avoid Marina Grill. read more

Sooooo I ordered a Bloody Mary. The Bartender brings me a naked one. No olives, no celery zero garnish, strange and disappointing to me. I asked for olives and got a blank stare, and begrudgingly 3 olives. This blonde haired bartender proceeded to then never ask my friend and I if we wanted refills, we did ..or ever look in our direction even when directly in front of us. I placed my empty glass as a signal away from me and he chose to ignore me. Nothing. Eventually another very pleasant female Bartender noticed the glass and asked if we wanted another one. My friend ordered a burger off the menu. The bun was a smashed potato roll. Tried the tropical guac....2 pieces of pineapple and a coconut flake...also served with won tons which did NOT work with it. Just got back from dinner there and had the worst experience. Beautiful space but the worst service of any restaurant I have been to in Belmar. My family and I (my husband and two kids) were seated at a table outside and got no help from the waiters/waitresses and even the bus boys! We had to put up our own umbrella even asking the staff to do it -then we asked the staff 3 times for a high chair and they never got one. My husband had to find one for us and bring it to the table. Once the waiter finally showed up we had to ask him to bring us menus....he stared at us like we just landed from space. After about 20 mins of waiting for food the wind picked up and wound up blowing our table umbrella and the table next to us umbrella out of the holder!!!! They don't have weighs holding the umbrellas down!!!!!! They almost hit my 19 month old in the face and NO ONE FROM THE RESTAURANT EVEN HELPED! my husband had to catch the umbrellas, fold them up and place them against the stairs. This place is dirty and has horrible food. My friends and I went here one night for appetizers and drinks recently and there were maggots in the oysters. Unfortunately my friends had already eaten some. The waitress was unapologetic and acted like we should expect maggots to be in their food because it happens often with oysters. My wife and I supported the Marina Grille through out the covid 19 pandemic, in spite of them increasing their prices and cutting down on the portion sizes.. Initially when asked why would they jump the prices so significantly regarding their raw oysters, we were told that they spent a significant amount of money on new trays that keep the oysters ice cold.... Now too me $30.00 is too high, considering the local competition. In adition to the oysters, they tried to justify $16.00 for a cheese burger, and were charging $2.00 each, for sauted onions, sauted mushrooms and bacon. In essence your looking at $22.00 for a hamburger with toppings. $ 44.00 for 2 burgers.... Thats crazy....Their fried citrus calamari portion has been cut down also. Not to mention $7.00 house cabernets. Gorgeous place that unfortunately believes they can justify prices as if your in the Hamptons. Pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered. Third time at Marina Grill and not sure if we'll be back. Great view but too noisy. Food is ok if a bit overpriced. Today at happy hour the bartenders ignored our side of the bar. It was not busy and we waited over 5 minutes to be served. My wine was in a wet glass with a sloppy pour. I had to use a tissue to clean up since we were not given coasters and there were no napkins in site. Not comfortable giving my credit card to run a tab but the guy next to me said they took his too. A great place to chill outside by the water, but the food is nothing special. Food: The CHORIZO + CORN was good, but nothing to return for. Value: Reasonable. Atmosphere: Perfect place to sit outside. The larger outside bar doesn't have a good view of the water which would have been nice. The inside is nice - with a modern open airy feel when the big windows are open wide. Service: Great. Friendly and professional. Drinks: Yes. The tap beer tasted clean and fresh. I wish they had a bigger selection of craft beers on tap. I only had one appy so it's early to judge the food, but given their other restaurants I don't expect much. I love sitting outside there and that's the only reason I would return. Second visit: Going to stick with 4 stars despite very slow service from a waiter named Wesley. We went on a Thursday night, were seated immediately and had great service. We started with the Ahi Tuna Nachos, which were delicious. I then had the Tuna Steak for an entree and asked for it seared rare. It was cooked perfectly and the garlic aoli that came with it was a great compliment to the fish. The only disappointment was the Lobster Bisque. My favorite Lobster Bisque is from the Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant, and I was really hoping it was the same since The Marina Grille is owned by the same group. The atmosphere here was just what we wanted on January day. The view of the water and the Marina were wonderful. I had a bacon Blu burger that was excellent. Made with short rib so the flavor was awesome. Fries were delicious but plate had too few of them. My date had cracked pepper egg pizza. Two eggs on a pizza pie. She was daring and it paid off. Absolutely loved it! Done to perfection. She wants to go back just for this pizza. A pitcher of Sangria was great. For 15 bucks (for the pitcher) you cant go wrong. Marina Grille looks west across a beautiful marina and on the right day you can catch a breathtaking sunset. The balcony is huge and has great seating, including a fire pit. That's about the only redeeming grace for this new restaurant, which started smelling like a cheap fish camp a week after it opened. I had guests in town from San Fran and London who immediately remarked about the smell and decided they'd rather have drinks instead of dinner at Marina Grille. I have eaten there with friends a few times and everyone was underwhelmed by the food- lots of unremarkable bar food, fried food, and shellfish (people with food allergies and dietary restrictions beware!) They built a huge restaurant but didn't sound proof it well so you can barely hear the person across from you when it's busy. Bottom line- grab a drink, catch the sunset and catch a cab somewhere else to have a better meal. read more
