The ambience is amazing. Great view of the harbor. The service was good. Now the important stuff the clams had no taste, the halibut was loaded with butter not my favorite. The Maui Maui had no taste and the tuna tower do not recommend specially at $28, but it has a beautiful view of the harbor. Hopefully, the food could get better for them. read more

Dinner for two on a Wednesday night...had a great experience. Friendly bartender tended to us while we waited about 25 minutes for an outside table. For our meal we LOVED the Spicy Garlic Shrimp as a starter. We'd go back just for that item! Shrimp cocktail was good. The Grilled Mahi Mahi special was good, albeit a little bit dry/overcooked. Each dessert (New York cheesecake and molten chocolate cookie a la mode) was good. Our server Dylan S was attentive and did a nice job. The lovely view at sunset over the "River" was a nice bonus. I don't know if the following is rule of thumb or strictly an observation but my experience at the Jersey Shore is remarkably consistent - the closer you get to the water the farther away most restaurants get from five stars. The temptation is obvious, seeing as some patrons will gladly eat cat food if accompanied by a view, ocean breeze and a comfortable price premium to make them feel like they have privilege. My perception of Belmar's Marina Grille has always followed suit as the Summertime crowds lap at the formula while eagerly doling out $35 for fish-and-chips and a beer... and can easily cut into the mortgage payment for a filet mignon. You know what? The fish, chips and the beer weren't half bad, arriving at my table light and flakey without a hint of the oil-soaked anchor that many shore kitchens pass off as the English treat. Good for them because I just may come back and I can't remember the last time I said that where surf, sand and chowder was concerned. A solid four stars. read more

Came here for a late lunch with some friends on a Friday afternoon. It's clear to me that the atmosphere is definitely why people come to Marina Grille. The waterfront views are beautiful and peaceful. They have a huge outdoor area, both covered and uncovered so you can be out there even when it's raining. We had rum buckets and shared a bunch of appetizers - what could be better than that lol The drinks were delicious and the appetizers were pretty good. The citrus calamari was the best by far. The "spicy" shrimp pasta just tasted like plain buttered noodles. The seafood (shrimp and clams) also didn't taste fresh and were rubbery. The whole meal was good from beginning to end. I'd want to come back and try something else. Service was great too. The Sangria was strong and one pitcher was perfect for two people. The calamari was so good and I loved the citrus notes. That was unique from other calamari dishes. The fondue I wish was thicker but it was really good. And the seafood fras diavolo was delicious. Very underwhelming unfortunately burger had zero taste how does that even happy with a burger. Bun was so stale it just broke apart - Ordered it rare came medium ugh cole slaw was excellent. Hubby got margarita pizza said it was good and the clam chowder was watered down with no clams. Lovely seafood restaurant located on the piers of Belmar beach. I've been here twice with my family whenever I was in town and everyone enjoyed their experience. Parking wasn't too much of an issue, but the walk from the lot to the restaurant was pretty nice. All the boats are docked on the pier and the scenery is beautiful. I haven't experienced any wait time, we were seated fairly quickly. Maybe about within 5 minutes within checking in. The servers & staff were always friendly and knowledgable on the menu. The menu it self was broad. We talking from a list of seafood choices to your burgers and pizzas. Their drinks menu covers a broad variety like margaritas, beer, hard liquor, so no one really had a hard time choosing. We always sat outside even though there is an indoor seating option. The food was good; your typical American dishes. Wasn't anything out of the ordinary or bad? Just simply good and everyone had no complaints. Most of our food was pretty good, but the $30 Lobster Roll that was served to use was very poor. Never mind the small portion, the lobsters pieces were dried out. Legitimately dried out pieces of lobster... They happily replaced it with a different choice, but out of all the lobster rolls I've had/enjoyed at the Jersey shore over the years, this was the saddest excuse for a lobster roll. Rude! Went today with my family to enjoy the nice weather, and we didnt know it was the St Patricks Day parade in Belmar, i checked the website and it did not mention it. When we walked in there was an older gentleman standing behind a booth and very rudely says its a $10 cover per adult and kids are free, i say okay can i see how long the wait is? He says WE HAVE OPEN TABLES, its $10 each i say okay and go to hand him my credit card he says so rudely CASH ONLY, i turned around and walked out. The food here isnt great, but the views are great. This place is big... wide open, and great for drinks, especially in the summer when the back of the house is open onto the Marina. Great sunset spot, although usually very, very crowded. The food, on the other hand, is just this side of awful. I had better fish and chips in my high school cafeteria. The (quite limited) menu has nothing on it that's worth ordering, and that includes the (it's gotta be frozen) hamburger patty. Do better. read more

If I could I would give this place 3.5 stars (depending on the day). Came here a few times this summer and left with different feelings of satisfaction each time. It's nice to sit outside by the water and the inside garage look is cool but the food isn't as good as it should be considering the cost. Portions of the meals vary- the fra diavolo comes with a lot of great stuff and left me super happy and content, while the salmon left me super hungry and unsatisfied. Further to my review that I was served beer in a used glass, restaurant asked me to email directly to them so we can discuss what happened and they never responded to me two emails! To top it off, shortly after drinking from the used dirty glass, I got sick which coincidentally trigged shingles! So I have been suffering and paid alot in medical bills and still NO ONE from the restaurant bothered to reach out depsite their social media post saying the would! I always drive by but I never stopped in. This place is an operation and has a huge dining area with a bunch of sections plus a big bar. We started with the warm pretzels with horseradish mustard. The mustard has a sharpness to it so it works nicely with the blank canvas that is a pretzel. The pretzel was soft and warm which always helps. We also got salads that come between courses if you order an entree. The salad was ok. The mahi mahi entree was just ok. I didn't think anything stood out. The Fish and chips weren't great either. Oh and we also tried the Clam chowder which was very thick but not bad. The verdict is it has average food but nice ambiance. Sort of what I expected. 3.5 stars all the way. read more

What a wonderful Happy Hour on the water! Absolutely delighted with the options they have here in Belmar. After spending the day at the beach with my mom, we decided to grab a late lunch and that fit perfectly with their 3pm-7pm Monday-Friday Happy hour. The menu options were awesome including $9 for 6 oysters, $6 for shrimp cocktail (6 nice sized shrimp), $~7 for guac & chips and about the same for hummus. That's all the stuff we got. They also have $5 margs & bellinis! $2.75 beers too, niiiiiice. We were just hungry and didn't induldge in some drinks this time but the oysters were AWESOME, I was totally craving and they satisfied the craving--meaty and big oysters with horseradish cocktail sauce & a big lemon wedge. Family of 4 on a busy Saturday evening. We waited for 20 mins to get seated but based on a no-reservations policy, thought this was reasonable. This is huge restaurant with an inside and outside area, great views, as well as a large bar area with giant screens. Kids were hungry, so we ordered a Margherita pizza for the table with some soups to try. Pizza was perfect - very close to Napolitano standards. For the soups, we ordered a new england, manhattan clam chowder, and a lobster bisque. New england clam chowder became my kid's favorite soup now. Lobster was creamy, but the manhattan wasn't as hearty as it should have been. Maybe a preference thing for me, but kids weren't crazy about it either. For the entrees, we ordered some salads, a burger entree, and fish and chips, so that we can share everything. The chunks of fish were humongous! My mouth is watering just writing about it. Perfect fish to batter ratio. I ordered the burger to be medium. The outside had a crispy char. That's how I grill it on my BBQ, so it was just like I prefer. Brandon, the server, and the entire staff was very fast, and gotta say - efficient as hell. It's an art and science to run an operation this big so smoothly. We stopped here on a whim while driving back to south jersey. A friend who frequents the Spring Lake area recommended it to us. This is a nice spot for food and drinks on the water. Onion risotto was overpowered by the insane amounts of corn in it. Terrible dish for $29.75. My wife's burger was ok, but didn't look appetizing. The bun was smashed like someone sat on it. My mother-in-law's crab cakes, although crabby, were not seared, again. Father in-law's pizza was ok. I would not order pizza here. You deserve better! A few months ago, my boyfriend and I where out on our Trikes and we stopped in Farmingdale at a place called Connie's. I looked over the menu and said to myself, "Why not"; so I ordered a hamburger medium rare burger with mushrooms and Swiss Cheese. I have to say, it was a very good burger with just the right amount of seasoning. It was cooked just the way it was ordered on a good toasted bun that held up to the juices a perfectly cooked medium rare burger should have. I enjoyed every bit. The cost was about $12 with fries and coleslaw. Over the years, I had stopped ordering burgers in a restaurants, because in my opinion, it has been hard to find a chef, not just in my local area, that can cook a great burger cooked to your order specification; meaning not over cooked and welled seasoned. I am sad to say the Marine Grill in Belmar it no exception. I ordered the same burger cooked the same way has I had at Connie's, medium rare with mushrooms and Swiss Cheese. What I received was a well well cooked burger, just shy of being burnt, with very little mushrooms and small amount of Swiss Cheese. To me not even seasoned, sitting on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce (this is a 1st for me) and a thick slice of tomato served on a stall bun (not sure if it was toasted) that crumbled with each bit. It cost $22 and came with fries and coleslaw. When asked about the food I was eating, I gave my honest opinion. Our server was sorry about the food and stated that it could be recooked. Normally, this is something I do knowing that the burger would be cooked the was it was ordered the 2nd time. But really, it should not have to take sending food back to the kitchen for the chef to take notice and do his job correctly and to cook it properly has ordered. Sending food back to the kitchen is a waste of time, both for me and on the chef; besides the loss of money to the restaurant. The manager did come to our table and offer to have the food removed from our bill. I said, no. I have no problem paying for the food, but please talk to the chef and let him know that I know, that he knew, this burger was over cooked but severed it anyway with no regard for his customer. This occurs way too often, and this is the most disappointing aspect of eating out. It is my opinion that most people received subpar food when eating out, especially in our mid-range restaurants, but unlike me never return it. So the chef and the restaurants owners accept this lack of caring - as long as the client doesn't say anything why bother. It has been said that you can tell the quality of a chef by his roast chicken. Maybe we should also add his hamburger. Maybe I can find a 2nd place that makes a good hamburger. The Marine Grill is a beautiful place that over looks the Shark River. It cost Belmar $6 million dollars to build in 2017, and is owned by Point Pleasant Beach-based Chefs International. The other two are 9th Avenue Pier and Anchor Tavern. It has been reported that Marina Grille becomes the 11th restaurant operated by Chefs International Inc., which has 10 establishments in Monmouth and Ocean counties--including Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty, Wharfside Restaurant and Wharfside Patio Bar in nearby Point Pleasant Beach -- and another in Pennsylvania. read more

Really solid night at Marina Grille. Me and my girlfriend ordered a bunch of apps and sat in the indoor area right by the bar. The Ahi Tuna Nachos were delicious and our favorite dish of the night. The oysters and shrimp cocktail were both very fresh. Our waitress Lara was tremendous, doing her best to make sure we had a pleasant evening. I did feel bad as it seemed their waiters/waitresses seemed understaffed in general and it seemed like they all had a lot of tables to cover. The main issue of the night was parking, however. We drove around the massive parking lot for 20 minutes before finding a spot to just put our car. Overall good experience outside of that minute detail. I've heard so much hype about this place and was so excited when I heard we were coming here to celebrate a birthday. Most of us are from north NJ/NYC so it was a bit of a drive to come down. The others lived in the area. We came in on a Saturday with a large group (14 people) and we had driven multiple cars. The parking itself was seamless although there were plenty of cars present in the lot. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess. It took about 20 minutes to get a table together since our party was so large. We had 2 waitresses taking care of our table, which was great since we were able to get our orders taken quickly. I ordered the Ginger Shrimp Wrap, which has fried shrimp, arugula, hoisin sauce, pineapple salsa, fried onion and french fries on the side. I appreciated that the shrimp was still warm and crunchy when it got to the table, but the sauce was not my favorite. It must've been the mix of the the hoisin sauce and pineapple salsa and you definitely need to have a taste for those 2 together. It rained the day we came in, but I would love to give this place another try when it's nice out and can enjoy eating outdoors. I'll most likely pick something else to eat from the menu and maybe give the drink menu a try too. read more
