With this new Plano location, I finally got to try it. The location is unassuming and the inside is just as much so. This is definitely a mom and pop place so don't expect a lot of fancy stuff but everything was clean. The host was quick to recognize us from the kitchen and since we were eating in, told us to get a sit wherever and they will bring a menu. Overall, they have many of the same offerings as the Dallas location but with it just opening they were out of some things and the soda machine was down. For food we ordered the cat fish, Mac n cheese, gumbo, and chicken fingers. Also got a cup of their kool-aid. The cat fish was the star. It was fresh and flaky, seasoned to perfection, and paired with their tartar sauce, was delicious. Highly recommend. The chicken fingers were good and not any major complaints just standard. Seasoned well and easily enjoyable. The Mac n Cheese was highly disappointing and can't recommend it. Might have been an off day but wasn't my style. The gumbo was good. Just your basic gumbo but you definitely need the hot sauce because it had no heat to it and I like mine a little more on the spicy side. Overall, I definitely recommend checking them out. They have some good offerings and glad to see a soul food style place in Plano.
