This spot is terrible and has one of the worst waitresses ever in the history of the world (Analysa )was very rude to me and my friends. #1 She never introduced herself and was scowling at us when we ordered #2 when she was pouring our drinks she spilled it all over us and INTO our food , then reached over our plates to take our napkins to clean up her mess and left the dirty napkins on our table #3 We asked her for chips and salsa (which they charged us $2.50 for)and she( Analysa ) said" ok " but never came back? We had to ask another waitress for the chips and salsa and the new waitress brought them back right away( if you don't like your job then quit cuz your making the establishment look bad lady #4- She never checked on us to see if we needed anything ie...napkins,salsa,drinks ,more food ect.. and when we were done eating we sat and talked for another 15 minutes and she never came over to take our dirty plates off the table? Analysa just left them in front of us... The place over all was dirty and it looked like someone was jumping on the tables.We had to wipe the table and the booth down just to sit down and when I received my food there was one of her blond / gray hairs in my beans.. I will never step foot in the dump again and If that lady Analysa comes to your table do yourself a favor and just ask for one of the other waitresses...but don't expect any hospitality cuz they were all grumpy and obviously don't like working there. I have been all around the country eating and this by far (1/8 star) was my worst experience ever and I'm 50 years old... what a shame. I had a great experience here. Full, packed gluten free menu was much appreciated. The ceviche tostada was excellent and my husband's quesadilla could have doubled as a baby blanket. Truly great food and service. The only things that weren't great were simple things: no air conditioning and the red wine was refrigerated, making the experience slightly less than perfect. This is probably the best place to get Mexican food in Ramona. It's not that bad, just a hit or miss kinda place depending on the day I guess. I usually get Chile verde, which has always turned out really delicious. Been going to this place since they opened. Food is quick. Service is friendly. They have been amazing during this pandemic quickly adapting to the needs of people. Able to call in orders and have food taken directly to your car. My favorite Mexican place in town. I have my favorite go to dishes but try to adventure out and try new dishes. Have yet to be disappointed! If it's a taco Tuesday it's an even better deal. It does take more time as they get over piled with orders but all staff works extra hard to continue to get you your orders. read more

The newly extended patio is charming. They've tried hard to dress it up with hanging and free standing plants. They also have the tables arranged to give everyone a spacious dining experience. A group of four friends and I visited last night on the recommendation of one of the members of the group. We arrived at about 7:30pm on a Friday night to find the place was pretty busy. We were seated very quickly; but, by 8pm, all of the tables were filled and there were at least 12 people standing in the small lobby area. The parking lot was a patch of dirt, but there is a small side street and other area streets. This restaurant was so busy that the poor servers were hustling to take care of everyone - they should probably hire another server or two! There were plenty of free chips and salsa offered. While it wasn't bad, I thought that the salsa had too much of a smoky paprika taste. No big deal...it's just a matter of preference. Three of us ordered the crunchy fish tacos, one ordered a chicken torta sandwich and one the chile rellenos plate. The fish tacos were huge! They had double corn tortillas and served with a ton of toppings. I just ordered two tacos a la carte, without any side dishes, and that was still enough food for me. The salsa selections on the table included the dish served with the chips and about 4 different kinds of bottled sauces like Tapatio. One friend is from Mexico and so he asked the server if she could bring hot sauce from the kitchen instead of what was on the table. What he got was a dish of salsa verde and a dish of red sauce which wasn't hot at all (it tasted like it might have been enchilada sauce!). At any rate, though one of my fish pieces was a bit stale, we all enjoyed our fish tacos. The friend with the torta liked his and the friend with the chile rellenos cleaned his plate. The interior of the place had a hip, baja ocean decor and there seemed to be a lot of seating considering the size of the restaurant. There were a few flat screen TVs around showing sports programs. The portions were pretty good considering the prices. Combo plates run about $8.99. As someone else pointed out, the fish tacos were $2.75 each for a good-sized taco. Pulling into the parking lot, Hmmm, whoa. Something has changed. The parking lot isn't full on Friday nite at 8 pm..... Oh. Hmm?...no more margaritas....? Only beer and wine? Did I miss something? I think they lost their hard liquor license, assuming that the margaritas of the first visit actually contained tequila.... Flustered, I started making mistakes. Lots of them. I ordered for both me and my companion. Mistake#1 (When you know your companion is more picky than you, NEVER order for them!) I ordered two shrimp dishes. Mistake #2 (Duh. can you say "overkill?) I ordered Shrimp Aguachiles, a ceviche-style dish to share with someone who "doesn't like raw stuff." Mistake #3 I ignored the second half of the menu item's name "Aguachiles" Mistake #4 (In a Mexican restaurant, the word "chile" roughly translates to "m@%#& f#@%& HOT" -- Do Not Forget This.) So dish #1 was too hot for me and too raw for my friend. Onward. The second dish, Shrimp Al Mojo de Ajo (roughly translated: "shrimp with a ton of garlic") was very good and plentiful...especially if you like garlic butter soaking into your rice. I have to give mariscos a strong 5 stars just because of the great service and the awesome food. My special burrito was Munger huge and I couldn't finish it it was just delicious. The prices are amazing we went out as a family and it was very affordable. It is ok but no where near the best. I had the fish burrito which was a great price of $5.95 for a decent burrito. However, I also ordered the shrimp cocktail at $13.95 which was basically ketchup and shrimp pulled out of the freezer. The shrimp cocktail was a BIG let down. Came back after telling coworkers how great it was, only to be told that they could not make it now. Even though they made it. My wife and I stopped by for dinner last Monday evening while we were on vacation in the area. I read the Yelp reviews before going here, so I had a general idea of what to expect. We arrived at 8:00pm and found the restaurant pretty empty. In fact, my wife was hesitant to go in but I convinced her to give it a try based on the Yelp reviews. We were greeting by extremely friendly staff who seated us right away and gathered our drink order. We ordered 24 ounce beers and looked over the menu. My wife ordered chicken enchiladas with green sauce and I ordered a combo with a beef taco and cheese enchilada. When the food came, my wife asked me if I ordered two enchiladas with my dinner and the taco. I only ordered one, but the enchilada was so huge it looked like two. I grew up in Los Angeles so I am really picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food. We were SUPER impressed with how good the food was. The portion was large and the taste was very authentic. Unbelievable for a tiny little place in Ramona of all places. In addition to the amazing food, every employee was extremely friendly. Needless to say we were very impressed with the entire experience and we're glad we gave it a try. A 15 year Ramona resident so have visited every Mexican restaurant in town. Not much happening here. They only have beer and wine license. Ordered a Stone IPA ands they served a citrus Stone IPA - I really don't think they know the difference. The beef burrito was shredded beef which is nothing more than shredded, BOILED, beef - no flavor at all. Salsa for chips really pathetic - watery and no spice at all. Spanish rice worse in Ramona. Average portions. Average price for a Mexican restaurant in Ramona. The interior also lacking - poorly lit, small tables at booths (the tables were much too wide for booth space so only skinny people need apply). Overall, skip and visit one of the other Mexican places on Main Street. read more

Not sure about some of these negative reviews have no clue how you could rate perfection anything less than full stars. I normally wait to judge a place until I have been there at least 4 times so that I know for sure if it is really good or not. Make no mistake this place is the real deal, every time I go it is excellent, the service is unbelievably fast and the food is as good as its going to get. I can't say that I have ever had a better fish taco yet, they by far blow away any fish taco in San Diego. The grilled fish taco is sooo good that I have put myself into several food comas and expect to do it the next time I go. We went for dinner last night, 4 families with 6 kids. In the past I did not like the food, but last night it was good. I had carne asada fries made with frozen shoestring potatoes, and it was tasty, but the smallest amount I have ever been served. Frozen fries are not very costly! My Dr Pepper was flat, the replacement not much better. The service was ok, waitress was friendly. The carne Asada fries arrived at least 5 minutes after the orders were served. There is really no ambiance, other than some murals of fish on the walls. It was not overly loud which made conversation easier. The one thing that would keep me from returning with a large family group is that the tickets can only be 2 in number: there were 4 families, so dividing the cost per family was time-consuming. Having been a waitress, and having waited on much larger groups, it would have been easy to ask each couple for their orders and taking their kids orders on the same ticket. read more

We are staying up in Julian and when we arrived everything was closed. They stayed open so that we could drive 15 mile out and we were not disappointed. The ambience is diner-esque but the food says a lot more. Joe ordered the paradilla And I ordered the tamale combo. The chips and salsa were great as well. This review and the stars above are about the food and the service. There is more information below that has nothing to do with the food but I think it is important and relevant. I've eaten here twice and both times were very, very good. The servers are very happy to be there, very quick to serve and very attentive. The food is delicious and prepared with expertise. No complaints there. Now for the reeesssst of the story. The have a local wine list. You may see Salerno wine there. Salerno Winery is one of the oldest and best wineries in Ramona so it makes sense to have it on the list. It is also important to pay for wines that are sold in your restaurant. Basically I'm not accusing anyone of anything but there has never been an order from or even a dime paid by Mariscos Mar de Cortez or it's associates for the Salerno wine that is sold there. Take it for what you will but they and I and everyone at Salerno's knows the truth. Play nice, people. read more

This place offers really good shrimp cocktail and the food is good here although when you sit down they give you salsa and chips but the salsa is always really watered down. The chips could use more salt but that's just my taste. I also gave it three stars because even though the margaritas they offer are decent they do taste way different than as if going to tgi or chillis. They should make margaritas with full on ice blended and more stronger because it tastes like its wine instead of full on tequila margarita. One thing I can't figure out is why does it have something foamy around the top do they add some type of cream or something?. The food is good and it comes in big portions. read more
