Octopus ceviche and reg ceviche tostadas with 8 hot sauces to choose from All were good

Excellent ceviche and octopus tostadas. Tosttada shells freshly made and eight different salsas with fresh lime and avocado Portions were generous. Jamaica hibiscus drink was a delicious accompaniment. Serive was welcoming and fast. Prices surprisingly low.

My friend who lives near by thought we should have lunch at Mariscos San Juan. She and her family eat there often, but it was my first time. Each table had jars of hot sauce, saltine crackers, napkins, fried tortillas & limes cut in half. I'm sorry, but I don't want to eat tortillas that are out for who knows how long with how many people touching them. That's just not sanitary. Speaking of not sanitary, the plastic coated menus were covered with bits of food. Yuck. Okay, maybe my menu was the only one that was dirty, but I doubt it. My friend had the Copa Campechana, which is a big goblet filled with shrimp, octopus, avocado, & cilantro in a cold tomato soupy mixture. I had the Camarones al mojo de ajo, which was a plate with sauteed shrimp, tomato rice, and a salad of iceberg, tomato, & avocado. My shrimp were garlicky and buttery, but they were also over cooked and rubbery. There only seemed to be one waitress, and the six tables of customers seemed to be too much for her. She didn't appear frazzled or anything, but we waited a long time to get any help. She also charged us $10 too much, but she did make the adjustment without any hassle. Maybe Mariscos San Juan is a good neighborhood spot, but not one that I would like to visit again, sorry.

When Mariscos San Juan comes to mind I think of one word..... BOMBA!!! BOMB in English translation..... The food explodes with flavor. I ordered the Camarones Rancheros and my bff ordered the Camarones A La Diablas and two Ceviche tostadas. The Ceviche tostadas were not the best I had ever had but they were 2 bucks each so I was actually surprised how generous they were with that price. It was very fresh and loaded with avocado so I give this 5 stars. The Camarones Rancheros was overflowing with succulent shrimp marinated and sauteed in serrano peppers and tomatoes and onions. I like spicy but not too spicy and it was perfect!! I ate every pepper and shrimp..... My bff ordered the Camarones A La Diabla and it was CHINGON! Bad Ass. Enough said. The service was nice and quick! The ambiance is much like a little hole in the wall but don't judge a book by it's cover until you've tried their Micheladas! (like a Mexican version of a Bloody Mary prepared with a cerveza of your choice) I love this little Mexican hole in the wall. One thing for sure is they are generous in their portions. So come prepared with an empty stomach and hunger pains because you won't leave hungry. We had to go for a walk after to walk it off.... The major highlight of our dining experience was that they serve their coronas with lime, salt, a cocktail shrimp, and a dash of Tapatio! Now, no other Mexican hole in the wall can top that! Check this place out!!!!

This is a great spot to enjoy some seafood. The tostada de ceviche is made with fish and they add the traditional tomatoes, onions and cilantro. They give a great portion for only $2.50. We also tried the mixta tostada that has octopus, ceviche and shrimp on top. I will definitely keep coming because the service was great and very attentive. Even though the tables were all taken, the waitresses worked fast and always smiling ready to help. Come here for some seafood and a couple beers all for a good price. The plates that people around me were ordering looked very good too so I am going to have to try one of those in a future visit.

Seafood and beer! Can it get much better than that? This place must be one of the best seafood restaurants in the South Bay. My group and I ordered the $16 mixto platter to split. The mixto platter was amazing and featured an assortment of seafood marinating in lime juice, tomatoes, and cilantro. You can basically build your own tostada since they serve large tostada shells instead of tortilla chips, as is typical at most Mexican restaurants. All of the seafood in the mixto was really fresh; no hint of fishiness at all. The flavors are super bright and vibrant; it's really a refreshing dish. I also ordered the camarones rancheros, which was equally amazing. The shrimp have a nice kick to it since its cooked with peppers. The shrimp was very tender, and like the mixto, was very fresh. For non-Spanish speakers, it may be a little intimidating at first. At first the servers actually were a little surprised that we didn't speak Spanish fluently. Nonetheless, they were very friendly and very helpful.

    Disgusting isn't even close.

After today's visit, though... I finally understand why the second location closed. Ordered: Shackie's Sauce (Hot) Shrimp & Mussels Combo Snow Crab Clusters Garlic Noodles Garlic Fries The seafood boil was nowhere near the quality it used to be. The corn tasted old, the shrimp and snow crab didn't taste fresh, and the snow crab clusters had barely any meat. By the time I cracked everything open, it felt like there was more shell than seafood. The mussel shells even had barnacles on them, which I've never seen here before. It made the seafood feel like it hadn't been cleaned as well as it should have. The garlic fries were crispy, but that's it. It was weird--I could see the garlic and was literally eating it, yet there was no garlic flavor. The garlic noodles used to be one of my favorite items because they were bold and packed with garlic. Now they've definitely toned the flavor down, and they're just not the same anymore. It's honestly disappointing because this place used to be one of my favorite seafood spots. The food quality has clearly declined while the prices have continued to go up. I hope they can get back to what made this place so good, but based on today's experience, I can't recommend it anymore.

I didn't know that you could call for a reservation, or get on their waitlist with Yelp. I was going to do my order to go, when I was asked if I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. Not at all. I was seated right away, and I was helped by Allison, who was also tending bar. She was a very nice lady, and she took very good care of me. The restaurant has. A nautical theme to it. I decided to go with the Cajun chowder, and the softshell crab po' boy. . My food comes quickly, and the order was huge! It was a very good, rich chowder, with just a tiny bit of a "zip" from the Cajun spices. They definitely gave it a good flavor. There were lots of goodies inside. The one thing about the chowder, was they didn't take out the bay leaves, and I did get a couple.. I just put them off to the side. I'm not going to take off a star, because the chowder was so good. Hey, It happens.... The po' boy was huge! The softshell crab was not over breaded. I could taste the crab with no problem, and it was a little bit sweet, a little bit savory, with that wonderful "crabby" flavor. The roll was a soft roll, , but it still held up to the sandwich extremely well The lettuce, and tomato were crisp and fresh . The Cajun fries, had a little bit of a zip to them, but not too much. they came with ketchup, and their house Cajun sauce. I didn't even touch the ketchup. The sandwich already had some Cajun sauce on it, I put a little bit more. The rest, I used to dip the fries. I only made it halfway through the sandwich, and the fries. The rest came back to my room with me for another great meal. I also got another little "tub" of that sauce to take with me. The entire time, Alison was so personable, , we chatted a little bit about this and that... She is definitely an asset to that restaurant. (Tell her boss to give her a raise...:). The price was extremely reasonable for such a wonderful meal, and they also have a military/veterans discount this was such a great meal, I would gladly come back here again. Thank you so very much

The seafood was well-seasoned with a nice spicy kick, and our noodles were very garlicky (in a good way). The chicken tenders were also flavorful, but a bit dry (I still like it btw). The only small downside was that the crawfish had a bit of a fishy taste, but it wasn't enough to ruin the meal since the seasoning was still really good. The shrimp, on the other hand, were delicious and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, great for groups. It was pretty busy when we arrived, which says a lot about how popular the place is, but we were still able to enjoy our meal comfortably. The service was efficient despite the crowd, we didn't have to wait for too long. Overall, we had a great experience and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again!

The garlic fries were cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, while the lobster garlic noodles were flavorful, savory, and packed with garlic goodness. The seafood itself was fresh and good quality, but I found the House Special Mild sauce a little underwhelming. I was hoping for more depth and flavor, but most of what I tasted was a mild kick of heat. While it wasn't bad, it didn't have the rich, buttery, and well-seasoned flavor profile that I typically look for in a seafood boil sauce. Service was great throughout our visit. We were seated promptly, our food arrived quickly, and any requests we had were fulfilled without issue. The staff was attentive and made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated the restaurant's nautical theme. The decor featured fishing nets, ship-inspired accents, and other sea-themed elements that helped create a fun and immersive atmosphere. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try. The garlic noodles and fries were delicious, and the service was excellent. While I would probably choose other seafood boil spots in the future, this was still a solid experience and worth trying at least once.

Everything we ordered was delicious, and a few dishes were truly outstanding. What we ordered: Uni Pasta: My absolute favorite, and it seems to be their most popular dish for good reason. The sauce was incredibly creamy, rich, and packed with umami flavor. I don't even want to think about the calories, but it was definitely worth every single one. Charred Garlic Oysters: My second favorite and the biggest surprise of the meal. I didn't have high expectations for this dish, but the moment the oyster hit my mouth, it just melted. Smoky, flavorful, rich, and absolutely scrumptious. Oyster Shooter: Also very great. It came with oyster, uni, and a quail egg yolk in soju. Smooth, briny and fun to eat. Tuna Tartare: Probably the most disappointing dish of the night. If I came back, I'd skip this one. It was the blandest tartare I've ever had and lacked the seasoning and flavor I was expecting. Lobster Garlic Noodles: Delicious, but cracking the lobster ourselves was the downside. We appreciated getting all the lobster meat, but breaking down the shell took so much effort that by the time we finished, we had already lost our appetite. We ended up leaving 2/3 of the noodles behind. Next time I'd rather skip this dish or just asked to have the lobster meat removed from the shell. Overall, there were some standout dishes that I'd happily order again and a couple that I wouldn't. Even so, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!
