Went to Marker 32 for a special occasion and it was made that much more special by the food and service here. We were promptly seated at a window table overlooking the water. The waiter was very attentive and we started with the pork belly appetizer and ordered scallops and a ribeye for our entrees. The appetizer was a unique take on pork belly as it was crispy without a sweet glaze like most places do. It was crispy, tender, and flavorful. Our entrees came out and while the ribeye was overdone, the waiter immediately replaced it with one cooked to a perfect medium. We had barely pointed it out and he took it back before we could even ask. The scallops were tender and seared well on the outside with the risotto and greens complementing their buttery-ness. We finished with the praline cheesecake which was a decadent cheesecake with a caramelized praline layer on top. The perfect way to end the meal! The food was great and the service was even better. Definitely book in advance for any special occasions but this is somewhere you don't want to miss. read more

We made a last minute reservation. Although it was Sunday night the restaurant was very busy. The staff was friendly and professional. They operated as a high end restaurant in all the ways of serving that has been forgotten in many restaurants that think they are elegant. Taking the ladies order first, serving ladies first. Grinding pepper at the table and many other details. The waitress Melissa was very knowledgeable and even though it was very busy she never made us feel rushed. She took very good care of us. The food was off the charts delicious!! Every dish was amazing. The temperature was just as ordered, the steak melted in your mouth, the short ribs exquisite, the risotto creamy and packed with flavor and the warm spinach salad was like nothing Ive ever tasted. It was creamy and rich with the melted Swiss cheese bringing all the flavors together beautifully! The fish dishs perfectly done and all of the sauces were magnificently joined with each food. We started with the calamari then I chose the scallops as my entree & my hubs had the pan seared chicken. The scallops were literal perfection. The grits were creamy and well cooked and the spinach touch was splendid! I absolutely loved my meal choice. The chicken was a hearty piece with fantastic flavor and moist quality. My husband was also happy with his choice. We finished our meal with the crème brûlée. Now as a crème brûlée lover, I am quite picky with it! This one was fantastic!! So smooth yet hearty and thick. Celebrated my wife's birthday early Friday dinner to avoid the crowd. We arrived 15 minutes early and we were seated right away. We ordered some drinks and put in a couple of plates to share, duck confit flatbread and Thai steamed mussels. We didn't expect the flatbread to be that good. Tender sliced duck meat and the pickled blueberries gave a hint of sweetness. The mussels in coconut curry and spiced peanuts were plentiful. We only ate half of it since we still have our Main entrees and dessert. For the Mains, I had the Braised Short Ribs. It came in a bed of massive potatoes and asparagus. You can't go wrong with short ribs. Tender and flavorful, but 1/3 of it was fat, I had a couple of bites of my wife's blackened flounder. Nicely seasoned! For a fine dining experience, the value can't be beat. $5 sides and $10 premium cocktails are incomparable to similar restaurants of this caliber. It's fancy enough to be fancy but not too overly pretentious. Complimentary bread was provided once we were settled in. I started with the M32 broiled oysters which were done perfectly. I followed that with a half Caesar - didn't know that was an option but thankful it was. My entree was broiled scallops served over grits and served with collards. All was well executed but I would've liked the collards cooked down a little more. Flavor profiles for all were perfect. Service from Jillian was spot on - personable, attentive, and not overbearing. The teamwork service from the bus/water personnel was tight - anytime we needed even half a water refill or a plate needed to be picked up, it just happened. This is a well-oiled and managed staff. Kudos to the team and the management. My only critique is that the restaurant can get loud when full - which is almost all the time. We ate here when we first moved to the area three years ago, and tonight we finally returned for dinner. It was an excellent decision. The restaurant is situated on the water off of Beach Boulevard, with great water views. I feel like we got the best table in the whole restaurant. The menu has plenty of great sounding appetizers as well as many great sounding entrees. Our party had the seared filet mignon, the prime bistro steak and the grouper special. The filet came with delicious potatoes and grilled asparagus. The entire meal was delicious. The prime bistro steak came with a hearty portion of fries. The grouper came with cous cous and a pureed carrot sauce. It was another great entree. We were too full for dessert but all of the desserts sounded great. I'd love to give Marker 32 five stars but waiting 45 minutes for your table when you have a reservation especially when your foot is in a cast makes me say no can't do it. Let's start with my arrival. I had no idea there would be 2 flights of stairs to enter the restaurant. Normally I wouldn't care but I have a cast on my leg. Luckily my husband noticed a " lift " that could take us up to the top. It's more like a dumb waiter & it was pretty scary but we made it! The bubbly hostess told us our table wasn't ready yet so our party of 4 went to the bar. The first thing you notice when you enter the restaurant is the noise. This was a week night & the place was loud. I mean really loud to the point of almost uncomfortable. We were still early enough to take advantage of the HH at the bar. The HH wine and tequila are are good value. I chose the tequila & for $5 it was really good. We also got a bottle of wine because my friend did not like the HH white wine choices (which we brought to the table 45 minutes later). I'd say after about a 25 minute wait at the bar a nice young man came over and told us to choose an appetizer that he would service at the table and apologized for the wait. I thought this was a very nice gesture. The place was still extremely busy and extremely loud and I was pretty uncomfortable at the bar with the cast on my leg. After 45 minutes, we were shown to our table. Again, a lovely young person came over to our table and told us dessert would be on them for the wait. That was extremely nice because many places won't do anything for waiting. The rest of our evening was lovely but again the noise level was out of control. I'd say we got there about 6 o'clock and the noise kind of dissipated around 8 o'clock halfway through our dinner. For the appetizer we chose the calamari. It was small rings of calamari that were cooked nicely. Nothing outstanding but definitely good.My husband had Seared Duck Breast with caramelized apple and bacon risotto / haricot verts / truffle leek purée / duck demi he said it was very good & enjoyed it. My friend & I both ordered the New Bedford Scallops which were served with collard greens / creamy grits / roasted corn basil shrimp broth. We both agreed it had an excellent flavor & the scallops were fresh and done correctly, however the dish was too soupy where you almost needed a spoon to eat it. Our other dining partner had a fish. I don't remember what it was. It might've been a special I could not even hear the server when he rattled off the specials. The birthday boy said it was very good. Our service throughout the evening was excellent. But it was difficult for us to carry on a conversation because of the noise. When it came time for dessert, their desserts look so good. We ordered three. It was a friend's birthday and they put a candle in his cake. The birthday boy had the crème brûlée. My friends and I shared the peanut butter bread pudding. I love bread pudding and never pass up an opportunity for bread pudding. It came à la mode and it was delicious. My husband had sort of a chocolate cake if I remember, and also thought it was excellent. I have mixed reviews about this restaurant because of the extreme wait time and the noise level. The restaurant did try to make it right and I applaud them for that. The service was excellent and so was the food. The ambient music we hear in Marker 32 just doesn't jibe with the atmosphere. Last night, it was classic rock. I know this may be picky but classic rock in your beautiful Marker 32 seems inappropriate. Jazz, whether smooth or classic, might be a better choice..and I don't really like jazz! went to marker 32 for a valentine's dinner and it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences i've had in jacksonville. the only good thing we had all night was the oyster half shells. they were fresh and actually enjoyable, which makes what happened next even more frustrating. i ordered the most expensive steak on the menu based on our waitress's recommendation and specifically asked for medium rare. after waiting an entire hour for our food, the steak finally came out overcooked to medium, tough, and honestly something i could have made better myself at home. for the price point, it was completely unacceptable. when i sent it back and asked for the bill, the restaurant still charged me for the steak and instead removed the oysters from the check... which makes zero sense because that was the only part of the meal that was actually good. between the long wait, poor quality for the price, and the way the situation was handled, this felt like a restaurant that cares more about turning tables than delivering a quality dining experience. definitely not worth the money, the hype, or a special occasion night. read more

We started with the seafood platter and it was so good and really liked the variety with, shrimp cocktail, oysters and crab claws. I was pleased to know the salads come whole or half. I had the half spinach salad and husband had half mixed. The spinach salad was so good that I would go back and have a whole one next time. Our entrees were the scallops and rib eye. Starting with our appetizers, we opted for the Teppanyaki prime with bacon jam and bone marrow special which was the star of the evening, Scallops with crab roe butter which had 2 large scallops that most restaurants would have cut in half to give the impression you were getting more, the crab roe butter was savory and worthy of wiping up with the toasted focaccia, and the Burrata ravioli of which the pecorino crisp my wife and I both wanted another. Honestly, we could have spent the evening sampling the starters and apps which we'll probably do in the future. So yummy. My wife went with the Shrimp fettucine which she absolutely loved, and I chose the Bistro steak with the truffle fries and peppercorn demi. The fries were off the change and while my steak was slightly overcooked, the demi-glaze was so delicious I didn't bother sending it back and did not take away from the overall fabulous taste of my dish. Delightful dinner at this upscale restaurant in Jacksonville. I joined late and sat at the bar, so unfortunately I can't speak to the view but I've heard it's wonderful I decided to order a few appetizers to try different things. Very delicious, personally I wish the flavors of sun dried tomatoes and bacon wouldn't have overpowered the oysters as much, but they were broiled perfectly, served beautifully and delicious. Next, I tried the grilled octopus with shoestring crispy potatoes and an arugula bean salad. I love octopus but thought this one was presented too oily, and overpowered by roasted peppers and bacon. The salad was the highlight on the plate. Lastly, I ordered the scallops on corn purée and OMG my life will never be the same. It was PERFECTION! Scallops were served at perfect temperature and so beautifully highlighted by the corn and veggies. I was full but could.not.stop.eating. Highly recommended for anyone!!! Another moment of delight was the 20-year old Port which was simply delectable. Overall, fantastic menu, wonderful selection of wines and cocktails and very friendly staff. The majority of my reviews on Yelp focus on food over service because I usually find service at restaurants to be adequate, but unremarkable. Marker 32's service is REMARKABLE! We were greeted immediately by the friendly host and seated right away. As soon as we were sat, I noticed the host, or perhaps the manager, immediately tell someone in the back that our table was seated and we were brought water and an assortment of bread right away. Our server was kind, personable, and clearly put a great deal of thought and effort into her descriptions of the daily specials which was endearing and made us feel special. It's rare to get a server that seems to truly care about their job and your experience. And it wasn't just our server. The servers at the tables around us clearly had the same care and charm with their guests as well. The food did not disappoint either. This is the best calamari I've ever had! In fact, calamari is not something I order often because it's usually a boring fried calamari ring and some marinara. This Vietnamese take is a beautiful and unique interpretation that is for more enjoyable than standard calamari. I will return to Marker 32 just for this dish! I had to try the shrimp Alfredo it had a little spice with andouolle sausage. It was great tasting. I would definitely order again. Whatever changes they made in those ten years really helped make this place 5 stars! I've been back twice lately, both times right at 5 o'clock when they open. I had the oysters which were very good. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Wife had the baked chicken with mushroom sauce and reported that it was the best she ever had. The steak came with asparagus and it too was cooked perfectly. For dessert we shared the crème brûlée and highly recommend. If you haven't been to Marker 32 in years give it a try.
