We consider ourselves foodies and love trying new restaurants but for whatever reason we are beach people who had never made our way to Marker 32. Crazy right? We finally rectified that this past weekend with our first date night since our daughter was born. Marker 32 on the weekend is packed! We made reservations a week in advance and spots were already very limited. When we arrived indeed every single table was occupied. The ambiance was great at the restaurant. It had a very cool stylish vibe. On the downside, it does get very loud which can make conversation difficult. For a starter we had the Rosemary Grilled Octopus. This is an interesting dish. The smoky tomato puree and sherry smoked paprika vinaigrette in it were very strong and although tasty it did overpower the dish slightly. We also had the arugula fries. The fires are extremely thin and crispy. Almost more like fry chips than fries. The flavor was good but the thin fries are definitely not my favorite. My wife got their Old Fashioned and said that it was excellent. For dinner my wife had the Vegan Pad Thai. This dish was huge, easily enough for two meals. She said she enjoyed it and really loved the flavors. I had the special for the night which was a pan seared grouper in a coconut curry. The flavors were good but the grouper was definitely over cooked to the point of being a little dry. The two tables next to us also had fish dishes that they complained were over cooked so maybe the cook was just having an off night. For dessert we had the hummingbird cake which was absolutely delicious. All in all I see what the hype is about. Marker 32 delivers a solid ambiance and some good food for a date night or a business meal where you are looking to impress. For the price though, I expect the food to be cooked perfectly and the service to be impeccable which while good, I feel like they missed the mark with us tonight. Been here many times and was always good until now. Complimentary valet was rude, chicken was dry and too tough to cut, spinach was under cooked. When waiter asked how the food was I mentioned it was too dry and I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. The response was... Oh well chicken is chicken. Not sure what that means? First impressions are everything and last night our dining experience was EVERYTHING! This restaurant is beautiful and right on the water. The view is gorgeous and decor is lovely. We started off our meal with the burrata and the shrimp appetizer and were "wowed". For our entrees, I asked for a substitution and the kitchen did an amazing job with the dish. Everything from the service to the food was outstanding. We took our desserts home and it was packaged with care so everything made it home safe. This meal was delicious and perfect. I came here because of proximity to my Airbnb and because of the reviews. The ambience is quite good, the staff very deferential and polite. The customers are a good-looking crowd. Definitely a date spot, as well as a spot for friends. I found the seafood options to be a bit limited for a place with such a nautical theme. Couldn't make up my mind so I got fried shrimp/oyster combo with shoestring fries. Two of those shrimp were soft (as in, not fresh). Yuck. The oysters were too small to taste good deep-fried. And the shoestring potatoes were all fry and no potato, due to being so fine. I guess that's a matter of taste and some people like it but I like to taste potatoes, not oil and salt. The other shrimp that were fresh were quite good. I don't think I'll return but my menu exploration was admittedly trivial and other people's meals at least looked better than what I ordered. We decided to go back to Marker 32 to celebrate a special occasion and this was an excellent choice. The place was clean and spacious. We have the view of the water from our table. As for our food, everything we ordered were tasty and fresh. For starters, we had calamari (crunchy and flavorful). For the entree, we had fried shrimps (large shrimps), scallops with grits and collard greens and blackened snapper. For desserts, we had French toast bread pudding and creme brûlée. I haven't been to Marker 32 in many years. The location is off the road (Beach Blvd.), you would never know it was there just by riding by. It's definitely worth the trip. It was a beautiful sunny evening; the view of the water and marina was nice. We made a reservation, which I highly suggest. If you are looking for a quiet restaurant this is not the one for you. We started out with the Fried Green Tomatoes, they were done just right, crispy, tomatoes had the right bite to them, just a little under seasoned. The seasonal soup was next, it was a crookneck squash soup that was creamy, had a little topping of veggies on top that complimented the soup. I would be back for this soup, as I love unique dishes like this. My husband had the Blue Crab Cakes, I did not try them, but he said they were good. My daughter ate the Seared Filet Mignon. She ordered it medium; it was more on the rare side (she did not ask them to cook longer, just brought the rare pieces home to eat later). She really enjoyed the onion jam that was on top. I had the Seared Scallops with a side of grits. The scallops were cooked perfectly, very delectable with a tasty apple slaw. The grits were one of the best grits I have had out in a long time. The staff was quite friendly, the pace is slow and took longer than normal. Our server knew the menu, polite and efficient with cleaning up the empty plates so more can come. So first, I have to say I worked in the food and beverage industry for a combined 16 years. I did everything in the business to include going to culinary school. Now I haven't worked in the business for many years and since 2020 the culture has really changed. Especially when it comes to wait staff. Tonight, we had a young lady mamed Lizza, who was perfect in every way! So, after going to a baby shower, my wife and I decided to go out and grab some apps and drinks. My wife wanted to go to a couple of other places, but I had been wanting to go back to Marker 32 for a while now. So I felt tonight would be a good time to go. So I haven't been to Marker 32 in probably close to 18 years. Thinking it probably wasn't going to be busy from the past was I surprised. It was packed, ok, so it's Sunday night, holiday weekend. No, this is how it is every night! Awesome, the place has changed since I was last here. We'll ww walked in the hostess was nice and greeted us, and we're able to accommodate us. Now, here is where everything kind of began. They served us fresh bread and water before our server came over, well my wife didn't want to be there, she didn't see anything on the menu, But when Lizza came over she kind of sensed things and became very engaging which kind of made things better. So we went and ordered some wine and apps. Tuna poke, which was absolutely amazing, fresh tuna, seaweed salad, and the sauce was kick ass! Lizza said that she would bring us more sauce without us even saying anything. Next I had the 1/2 dozen raw oysters, now these were a little small for my taste. I like thick meaty oysters. But they were good. Then last we had the pork belly, melt in your mouth, the sauce and the pickled raw veggies... Mmmm A couple glasses of Moscato! Perfect! I like to always finish off with an expresso and Sambuca. To my amazement as soon as I said Sambuca Lizza asked white or black? That's a first. Most places either don't have it or the servers have never heard of it. The expresso came hot and with a twist, my sambuca came straight up with 3 coffee beans. Got the creme brulee for dessert. Great finish to a good night. Todd, one of the managers, took the time to talk with us. I believe this will become one of our regular places. Funny, I just read an article on the couple that owns all the fish camps and Marker 32. Great job! Keep it up and this place will be around for another 20 plus years. read more

I've explored most of this menu, and nothing has let me down. Make a reservation, or show up, they usually find a way to make it work, or just jockey for positioning at the bar with the early crowd. The food is always phenomenal but I sadly can't say that about the service. This is our second time here and the first time our service wasn't great but the food was excellent so we gave it another shot. Ironically we were sat at the same table and we jokingly said to each other "is this the forgotten table?" As everyone around has was being tended to, we noticed our service was significantly less thorough. We came out to celebrate my husband's birthday, the hostess was so lovely and greeted us enthusiastically, wishing my husband a wonderful birthday. Our waiter was very busy and very distracted though. I don't think he knew we were celebrating something special. Our water glasses were empty for most of the meal, I had an issue with my drink that was never brought to the attention of our server because he was hard to pin down. At the end of the meal my beverage sat untouched, but he didn't even ask if everything was ok. It took 30 minutes of our dinner plates sitting empty in front of us for them to stop back around to collect them. Additionally it is so loud due to the acoustics that it's hard to hold a conversation. Granted, there's probably not much they can do about that. Ultimately though because we felt like such an afterthought, we probably won't be coming back. read more

The restaurant had great views of the inter coastal waterway and it was beautiful seeing the sunset here. For starters, we had the M32 broiled oysters and deviled eggs with fried oysters. I highly recommend the broiled oysters, the balance of flavors was amazing and they were cooked to perfection. The deviled eggs were also good but a little salty for my liking. For entrees, my boyfriend had the seared New Bedford scallops and I had the shrimp fettuccine. The scallops were pretty large with a perfect, crisp sear. The shrimp were plump and paired very well with the tomato-based sauce. For dessert we had the bread pudding, it was too sweet for my liking but my boyfriend enjoyed it. I was a little disappointed that the menu changed recently and they have a completely new dessert selection. This was not the quality of a $42 steak in my opinion. The other entree at the table was the bone in porkchop, recommended by our waitress. It was decent. I would have enjoyed that over the steak, but still leaning towards the too salty rage. The saving grace of dinner was by far the pumpkin cheesecake though!
