Just one word for the Santa Fe Chicken Panini: WOW! I was really pleasantly surprised by just how happy the SF Chicken Panini made my palette. It was just the right crunch, with just the right heat and seasoning, filled with impressively fresh chunks of avocados (not a spread like how other restaurants serve it), ideal amount of blackened chicken, red peppers and Jack cheese. I'm just so impressed with how spot on the seasoning was since so many places get it wrong by either making it too salty, too greasy, too soggy but that was certainly not the case here. Compliments to the chef and his team member who made my panini. I usually order the wild salmon which can be cooked to order always comes out perfectly too. Wow, had a really appetizing lunch here the other day. I finished my entire prosciutto mozzarella ciabatta before I realized the "1075 calories" stated beside it on the menu...(oops) because it was that good! And I don't regret it! ^_^ It was dripping delicious. Literally dripping..garlic aioli that was paired really well with the fresh basil, mozarrella, and oven dried tomatoes. Everything in the sandwich just seemed to fit well together. As some of the toppings dripped out as I was eating, I found myself studying it pretty carefully to see exactly what was in this mouthwatering treat, thinking maybe I could recreate this at home...looks like the extra kick was the spicy giardiniera (pickled veggies). Slight food coma after, because the entire sandwich is pretty filling for me. Overall very enjoyable, and nice ambiance. I wouldn't mind going out of my way to grab a lunch here. read more

I love this place. I love even more that the general mall public doesn't even know it exists, let alone dine there. The concept is pretty simple: order your food at the front after perusing the glass display cases, pay at the registers, and carry your placard to an open table. From there, a waiter will attend to your needs. Since you've already paid, take as little or as long as you want. Prices are affordable; I typically equate them to a moderately pricy lunch, but a value dinner option. I've had a few items here, but always end up getting the chicken pasta rossa. The pizza is my second choice, and my girlfriend lives by their shrimp salad. I've gotten the turkey panini a couple times but it is a little on the greasy side. Nordstrom's Cafe is one of my top choices for lunch whenever I'm at Tyson's shopping! I love Nordstrom to begin with, but I love that their cafe has lots of options & is usually pretty easy to get in and out of - any time of day. They offer great service and their food is always consistent. My personal favorites are their cilantro lime chicken salad and their salmon salad - the tomato soup is a go-to as well! Another thing I love (since I love the tomato soup so much), is that they sell it in jars that you can take home!! I pretty much always grab a jar to take home when I'm there. Amazing food and beer on tap! The concept is new to me. You place your order and then sit down. I was unsure at first but it was surprisingly fast. After starting a new job, some coworkers recommended this place for its proximity and amazing food. Doubting a cafe inside a department store could really hit the spot, I decided it give it a try. When tackling Mall Shopping, having to recharge in the typical food court is yet another challenge. The Nordstrom Cafe is a wonderful alternative. It is tucked away in the corner of the lower level of Nordstrom. It is not well identified, but once you enter, it is like moving into a slower, finer dining experience. It is, basically, a very upscale cafeteria arrangement. Entering you place your order based on visible samples of the available dishes. There are always a couple of daily options that are different each time. Paninis, pastas, soups, salads, meat and fish mains, etc. There are ample vegetarian choices. Having placed your order, getting your drinks, and paying you go to your table and a server brings everything to you. Everything is hot and fresh with ample (but not ridiculous) portions. Wine options are a wonderful addition!! It is frequently busy, but we have never had to wait for a table. Our servers have always been very helpful and friendly! So dodge the food court fast food and have a seat in a subdued lighting and a relatively quiet atmosphere. read more

I feel terrible (note to self, going fwd. try to review places that you enjoy and post those good experiences prior to posting the bad experiences) that I am doing this to my beloved Nordstroms cafe. Ive been eating at this place for how long, like 10 years? Ive had mediocre experiences, but never a bad one. Today, it was bad. 4 adults, 2 toddlers. After paying for our meals, we go sit and let the server/staff pick up our order. When asked how many rolls we wanted, she mentioned 4, we looked at our children, and ask for 6. She looks at us and says, sure, we can do 6 if you want (mind you, we actually ordered 7 dishes if the amount of rolls were based on that, but they aren't really). Most of our food arrives. 10 minutes later, we ask about the kids meal. She says oops, goes back and gets it within minutes. She mentions that it was actually ready but she forgot to bring it. After 10 minutes of having everything out, she stops by and says, oh, and then brings out the final dish. Dish was wrong. We kindly tell her that its the wrong dish. She looks at the receipt and says that is what was ordered. I mentioned we ordered something else, but that was what was placed in their system. She tells us it could take an additional 10 more minutes, we oblige. Then she states, we would have to pay the difference in price. We mention the price is the same but if so, of course. Out comes our food, brought over by the manager. I thought he was going to apologize for the mistakes, but then asks, if there is anything else we needed. Normally, this manager always goes out of the way to be very service oriented and helpful, but to us, that didn't happen. Few minutes later, the server asks us for the card we used to pay. I assumed they wanted to refund us for the mistakes. We said we paid in cash. She walks over to the register, prints out some receipts and comes over and says...drumroll..."looks like they were same price so there are no additional charges". By this time, I've had it. By the end of the meal, she stops by again and says, here I think the kids meal came with this (the milk). Oh, and after waiting and waiting for our chocolate, it never came. Thats the first time that happened. Dont get me wrong, service here is usually friendly and customer centric, but tonight, it was a miss, a big miss. In fact, the last 3-5 times I came, there was always something wrong with our order. The most recent prior to this, they forgot to bring our salad out, so it came at the end of the meal. To make up for it, I got much more arugula (turns out our server tells another server they gave our salad away to a guest who came after us). In order for this place to get back to its glory days..I would recommend and encourage every staff member to go back and reflect on the core of Nordstroms service and quality focus. Managers, if you observe something not right, make it right and let the customer know that you got their back. Treat everyone fair, and go out of your way to be nice to all..ive noticed favorable treatment based on...well, I wont go there, yet. read more

Tucked away in the back of the lower level, the Cafe is probably the only option I would go for in the mall unless I'm eating at an actual restaurant. No food court for me. You'll pay the same amount for sit-down service with real plates and silverware here, and the food selection is not only more exciting (for me at least), it is made to order. Order up at the counter/line, and you'll get a ticket for your table. Service will come around and ask if there's any additional service they could provide, be it making sure your order needs correction or if you'd like some dinner rolls. The sandwiches I've gotten here are good and well sized, the salads have always been fresh and flavorful (chicken caesar and the strawberry one are great), and the tomato bisque soup is better than I'd expect from a cafe. Their full entrees, like risotto or steak, are prepared consistently and are priced well below full restaurant prices. You'll finish off with chocolate mints, a refreshing treat before you have to jump back into the world of mallrats. There is a mixed crowd here, and that's completely ok. You'll fit in. read more

Hidden gem on the first floor of Nordstrom, Nordstrom Cafe is a relaxing break from a day of shopping. Nordstrom Cafe, like many other locations, is set-up cafeteria style, where you place your order, then pay, and then sit at a table of your choice where a server will bring you your food once it's ready. The food here is all very good, especially given the average price point of about $10 - the quality is much higher than out in the food courts and the waiters are always very cordial. The salads here are very good - I particularly like the strawberry chicken salad (seasonal) but they're all served on mixed greens (aka, not iceberg) with complex flavor combinations and fresh ingredients. The tomato soup is also really delicious, creamy and not too acidic, served with a cheesy crouton. Sandwiches are decent sized as well and again made from high-quality ingredients. Would highly recommend coming here for lunch if you have a little bit of time and don't want to deal with the crowds and junk-food oriented food court. read more

Great lunch spot hidden in the mall. You have to walk into the lower level of Nordstroms to find this place. They have sandwiches, pasta, salads, and most of the dishes are displayed in the glass cases at the counter. You order it there and then they give you a number and bring it to your table I ordered the mozzerella and chicken sandwich. Tasted really fresh. Large portion and it comes with kettle cooked chips. Also got a creme brulee- tasted yummy Wine is available also, i tried the chardonnay. Its a nice experience, you take a seat at a table or booth and the server will bring you bread and butter, and then bring your food. At the end they give you chocolate mint sticks, which are sooooo good. This is a great alternative to greasy food court food. And Its a pretty big space, so you can always find a seat. read more

Nordstrom Cafe is a pretty great place. Nestled on the first floor at the Tysons Corner Nordstrom, it actually took us a bit to realize it was there. We come every couple of months, either deliberately, or while making plans to stroll through Tysons. They have a decent selection of salads, entrees, soups, and pizzas, but not too many, so they can concentrate on the limited dishes and do them well instead of churning out a lot of mediocre dishes. The format is a little odd, but once you get used to it, it's not bad. You walk up to the counter and order and pay for your meal at the register, where they give you a number; sit at any empty table with your provided number and a friendly server comes up and takes care of the rest. Food comes out quite quick and you cannot go wrong with their Nicoise Salmon Salad or the Shrimp Arugula Salad. Coffee is decent, too. As others have said, this is most likely not a place to go if you have a tight schedule as the servers are always running and have a bunch of tables to cover. If you have a lax timetable and want a nice lunch, come on in! read more

We came to Tyson's Corner to get Nespresso pods but wanting a light lunch, so we decided to hit one of our all time favorite spot; Notdstrom Cafe. We got the tomato basil soup and couldn't resist buying champagne vinaigrette for salad and tomato basil soup (2 jars). We can have it for dinner one night with Home made grilled cheese. We have been going to Notdstrom cafe for over 20 years and will continue. They have excellent food and even better service. If you're shopping at Tyson's Corner and hungry, give Notdstrom Cafe a try. I was shopping in Tyson Corner Center at Nordstorms thinking about dinner. Read the reviews for Marketplace Cafe. On Tuesdays they close at 8:30; I walked in at 8:23. The manager immediately greeted me with a smile. He asked if I had been there before; I said no. He explained the night's specials in detail. You order at the counter, pay, and the waiter brings your food when prepared. I ordered one of the specials--crab cake with arugula salad. I also ordered the salmon chowder and panna cotta for dessert. The waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. Brought rolls with butter over, and my soup. The soup was delicious as were the rolls. The crab cake with arugula salad was cooked nicely with no shells. Delicious! Dessert was delicious as well. I will definitely come back! read more

This may not make sense to you, but when it comes to shopping, I can neglect eating and drinking for HOURS. Then all of a sudden my body revolts and I have to crawl to the nearest store that sells calories. This weekend we crawled to the Nordstrom Cafe. I was so hungry that I found myself staring down every plate of food being brought out. I got the arugula salad with shrimp and cubed polenta and WOWWEE it was delicious. They also have these infused, lightly sweetened carbonated bottled sodas in unique flavors like cucumber (so refreshing!) and rhubarb. As a side note, they do this weird thing where you order food from the station, but then get this waiter-like service after you find a table. Our woman was like over-the-top friendly.. in a good way. She had this giant smile and she would do this subtle wink after saying she would get something for us...and what's worse--I found myself winking back at her. If you haven't checked out this place, you should definitely give it shot. Beats some of the weird stuff they make out at the food courts. read more

This is by far the most consistent and delicious restaurant I have been too...I've literally come to this restaurant since I was a baby. I have such great memories here- Nordstrom always knows how to do things right! Here's what I like: the She Crap soup, Pepperoni pizza, Chinese chicken salad, coconut cake, and any one of their cookies. My mom especially loves their salmon nicoise salad. Their sesame ginger dressing and dark chocolate salted caramels are worth buying on your way out. Oh and their dinner rolls are always chewy and served warm- make sure you ask for them before you eat! I love this cafe- it's upscale yet comfortable. I have never ordered anything bad here. They have quality food, but out of about 25 choices on the adult menu only one is vegetarian (pizza margarita). I asked the person taking my order if they had anything else, she seemed confused, then suggested taking the chicken out of dishes that were 50% chicken. I asked if they could do something else and she said she didn't know and didn't offer to ask. So I had the pizza, which was good. It was a bit too much for one person. I can't believe how long it took me to discover this place! You can't really go wrong with anything you choose on the menu. The format of the cafe is different, you walk in & walk through the line. There are good displays of the menu item & there is a person there waiting to answer questions & take your order. They hand you a ticket & you pay at the register where they hand you a number on a stick. You go find a table & sit & wait for a server-like person to bring out your food. They ask if you need anything & act sort of like a server but not completely, if that makes sense. Once you're almost finished they hand you a check presenter with chocolates in it & I usually leave a tip. For food, I usually get the Tuscan Roasted Chicken or Tuscan Roasted Salmon. Generous portions, fresh, flavorful, & delicious! Better quality & freshness than most restaurants I've been to! I've also tried the Cranberry Turkey & it was good but would definitely prefer my go-to items. I've tried one of the pastas before but I can't remember the name because it is no longer on the menu. It was delicious though so I'm sure the other pastas are great too. Overall, definitely prefer coming here rather than eating at the mall food court. I absolutely love Marketplace Cafe! It is a great place to go for a quick lunch with a coworker or have a lunch meeting or catch up with a friend. They have various items on their menu from pizza to sandwiches to salads. I love their Margherita pizza - fresh basil and crispy crust with tasty sauce! I've also had Grilled Pesto Chicken Sandwich, Cilantro Lime Chicken Salad, and Blackened Salmon Caesars Salad before. I've never been disappointed with the meals. The first time, I had the grilled skirt steak chimichurri which was fantastic (I like the meat cooked medium-well which was great for this particular order because it came out just right). The second and third time I had the shrimp arugula salad with sweet corn which was great, hence why I had it twice! And on my last and recent visit, I had the special for that day which was a kale quinoa chicken salad with glazed cashews and it was quite delicious! My mom typically reserves half of anything she ordered for lunch the next day, but she finished her meal in one sitting! We also loved their pasta in a red sauce with meatballs and chicken panini on our latest visit. Now, this counter service restaurant's prices range from inexpensive to moderate (mid teens for some meals), but they're totally worth it. And service is good. For over a year and a half I have consistently eaten here a minimum of twice a week , sometimes more. Everything I have tried has been excellent. The majority of the time I order one the many salad options - all prepared fresh in front of you. Asian chicken and chicken cilantro salad are at the top of my list. Even the standard Caesar salad delivers. I have yet to find a place that consistently serves such perfectly seasoned and cooked salmon. The pizzas are great - the dough is a good combo of crunchy and chewy with a flavorful tangy sauce. Two soups are offered daily - Tuscan tomato and ... All good. The skirt steak with chimchurri (sp?) is delish. Even the rolls served at the tables are good - crusty and hot. Stopped at the Nordstrom Cafe kiosk in Tysons to grab a quick drink with a friend. Based on the advertising picture on the counter, I decided to get their new (or new to me) Italian Mocha. Barista Brian made it perfectly. It was hot, smooth and so very delicious. Deep rich flavors, a perfect mix of chocolate and espresso. Loved the artwork on top too. Get it in a ceramic cup (best way to drink anything coffee related) and sit and enjoy some people watching. read more
