If you're in the area, this is 100% a must try. To start, I love the variety of bread in the basket. There was challah, focaccia, and sour dough all so doughy, warm, fresh and amazing. We got the tuna tartar to start which came with cucumbers as the chips. It was very refreshing but if you don't like lemongrass, you might not enjoy this one. Next, we ordered the spring salad and let me tell you I think it was the best salad I've ever had. The salty feta, fresh perfectly sized cut veggies and the right amount of dressing..it was to die for. Then we opted for the lasagna and brisket parp. They were both a little meaty for our liking, wish there was more cheese and sauce and the noodles for the parp were a little denser to body the sauce but overall very good. Not sure where to start here. As someone who typically loves to try new spots my girlfriend and I were particularly excited to come here. Boy we're we disappointed. We brought my girlfriends dad from out of town here and turned out they had Sable on the Menu. (Not many places typically have this and he was very excited to try it) so we thought. They then bring out one of our platters and not the sable. So the manager comes out and says "we're out of it" why would you not tell the customer before food was ready and wait 15-20 minutes before telling us. Kind of strange. Then they call the platters with an "assortment" and we got 1-2 bagels. Last I checked an assortment is more than 3..... Then we ask for more bagels. So the manager brings out bagels. Uncut..... Upon asking a bus boy if he could cut the bagels for us he brings back a butter knife....then he takes the bagels to go cut them and cuts them into dipping pieces..... When we explained we wanted them cut in halves like every other person would ask for a bagel; he rolled his eyes and gave attitude. Kind of rude to treat customers like that. Then when we asked for halves they brought all of one type of bagels, not to mention all rainbow bagels. Bottom line. The manager was a great guy and comped the whole thing and gave us free bagels. Not sure how i feel about this place but just proceed w caution because the service was iffy. Food was solid when it was warm, fresh and on time which not much of our meal was. Except the fries! Run don't walk here for your next brunch!! I planned a brunch for my bridesmaids and was so happy with my choice! The outdoor set up is great, covered, but still allows sunshine to come through and air to flow. A great atmosphere and outdoor dining experience. Now, onto the food. WOW is all I can say. To start, I am a fry lover and never met a fried potato I didn't love, but the Belgian fries are a level up from even the best of fries I've had. They come with the most delicious dipping sauces and are hot right out of the fryer. We split a bunch of entrees, but the standouts were the chicken salad with huge pieces of shredded fresh chicken and avocado and jewish boy from queens sandwich with incredible homemade potato chips. Really everything was incredible and I am already looking forward to coming back to try even more of the menu. So happy to have this spot in the flatiron area. I came here tonight on a recommendation from a chef friend who works under Chris Bianco and well... I would have been better out with a street food stand. First, when offered choices of water, I was told there was no tap water, so I ended up paying $9 for still (that came from the same type of jug that tap was being given to others . The table that came after me asked for tap, and were told okay. Then my waiter did their best to avoid me and I received some of the worst service I have ever received in my life. I noticed they cater more carefully to business set people. I wasn't dressed frumpy, more semi-casual Friday, but maybe that wasn't good enough to show I wasn't going to spend too little. More than once I would look directly at him and he would catch my eye and immediately look away. Anyways, the main issue with that was that I found it extremely difficult to order anything with him or ultimately get my check. He forgot my espresso order with my dessert as well and it took me sitting with my dessert for twenty mins without eating it for him to finally put the order in. The only redeeming quality was that the lasagna was pretty good but it was luke warm. But the rest of the food came room temp or extremely late when people the server was also helping ordered after me and got their food before me. Long story short, I won't be coming back here. Unless you're coming in with a large group and dressed like you just came from the office, I would avoid. To be fair it might have just been one of those situations, but at the same time when I am dropping $100 by myself I would hope to have at least decent service. read more

We were the last table to sit due to this being a last minute reservation, but it was such a good atmosphere that I wish we had came here first. The host was extremely pleasant and accommodating - from the inquiry phone call to him bidding us adieu with bagels as his shift ended. The servers didn't extend the same grace, but our food came out fast and it was all delicious. 2 of us ordered pasta and a pretzel as appetizers which were all great. and the meat + salmon entrees were flavored so well!! He was behaving as if he is doing us a favor. Did not get a refund for the $28 salmon Benedict even though I couldn't eat the bagel. I ended up just eating the top on it. We've been fans of Mark Strausman since...forever, but somehow didn't know about this gorgeous spot he opened in 2021. And we're not really chef followers, we just really Love Good Food. GO! The Fries are are drop dead good, but there are a lot of them! be warned! Tuna tartare and beef carpaccio were stellar; the tuna was perfectly seasoned and the carpaccio was like silk. Fettuccine Americaine is drop dead good (the fresh pasta is perfect and SO MUCH lobster and shrimp!), and the Octopus Escabeche will wake up every taste bud you have and maybe some you didn't know about. Service and timing were perfect, and - the house made black and white cookie was divine (who knew it would pair so well with a single malt?) We have to go back again - and again - to try all of the other items we didn't order this time. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. You should go. read more

They are worth the hype. They are the platonic ideal of pretzels and came with excellent hot mustard, pickled peppers and some sort of pickled cabbagey thing. The squid was cooked perfectly and dusted with breadcrumbs. Much lighter than fried calamari. The rollatini were really good. A buddy and I split two pastas. The lasagna was good and not too heavy. The orecchiette with sausages and broccoli rabe killed it. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the contrasting flavors were awesome. We were too full for dessert. I met a friend for brunch. We didn't have reservations and the place was packed. The hostess brought in another table and squeezed us in. I came because we used to dine at Campania and Fred's and I love Mark Straussman's food although brunch isn't really the time to get a feel for the cuisine of a restaurant. We shared the nova platter. It came with an abundant amount of nova salmon, with 2 bagels of your choosing, tomato, onion and 2 cream cheeses. My friend has an allium allergy and forgot to tell the waitstaff. They were accommodating in every way possible - bringing fresh cream cheese and tomatoes untouched by onions. Bagels were delicious as was the blueberry crumble dessert. Coffee is excellent. Can't wait to have a real meal there. HOWEVER the secret weapon is the bakery inside (Straussies) (last name of the namesake 'Mark'): for my money the best bagels and bialys in nyc right now, even up against black seed, murray's, kossar's, etc. etc. Also the soft pretzels and breads - craveable. Giving it 3 stars because the bagels and fish were amazing, BUT the coffee is horrible and not on the menu because it's very overpriced ($7/mug). My girlfriend and I ordered lattes and we weird milky coffee mix that was the worst "latte" I've ever had (was basically extremely strong coffee with a bit of frothed milk). Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Made a reservation but didn't seem to need to as the place wasn't crowded (we arrived around 10:45 am). We ordered one platter to share, the nova and scrambled eggs ($26). It came with 2 small bagels, a good amount of lox and eggs for two people, two slices of tomato, and about 3 tablespoons cream cheese. The eggs were fluffy and delicious and the lox was super tasty and sliced nice and thin, but I was somewhat disappointed by the bagels and the lacking amount of tomato/cream cheese on our $26 "platter." My friend ordered a latte with oat milk and it came to $7 on the tab. Overall the food tasted good and service was nice but it was a little hard signing the check for a $40 meal when we probably could've gotten 2 bagel and lox egg sandwiches and a coffee for half that somewhere else. read more

Very solid experience if you're in the area. Coming here with friends, we got a few things to share which I'll list out below: - seafood pasta (basically their version of a frutta di mare): this was the best thing I had. A bit pricey at $45 but the flavors were excellent. They added a dash of cream to balance out the red sauce and seafood flavors which I've personally never tried but thought it was very good. My only qualms were it needed a tiny bit of salt to balance it out, and that the pasta wasn't al dente, otherwise 0 complaints and would get this again in a heartbeat. - lasagana: this one was ok. Not the best I've ever had (my parents make better lasagna), the flavors were somewhat bland and didn't stick out to me. I wouldn't get this again. - Hell's Kitchen pizza: this pizza came with sweet sausage, peppers and onions. Flavors were pretty good on this and it was obviously done in a wood burning oven so the crust was great. It didn't hold up well though and flopped over when I picked it up and needed some salt as well. I might get this again or try something else next time - pretty solid but not wow-ing me. Also, when I asked the waitress if the sausage had fennel seeds in it, she looked at me like I had asked the most ridiculous question when in fact fennel seeds is an American invention for "Italian sausage". That was somewhat of a red flag for me going into this because they claimed it was local fresh made sausage so I was worried it was going to be grocery store quality sausage slapped on, but the sausage had good flavor overall. Would I come back? If I was in the area, sure. Pretty solid experience overall, not the best I've had in the city (rezdora is still up there). read more
