Dropped by for lunch on a Saturday. I thought the prices were a little on the high side for what the restaurant aspires to be. I had the basic hamburger and fries, and my girlfriend had an omelet. She was very satisfied with the food. The hamburger was large, about 6 ozs. over cooked, dry, and pretty tasteless. It was garnished very well, with 2 large slices of tomato, sprouts, lettuce, and onions. Overall a 2 star experience, nothing special, not enough to draw me back a second time. read more

First time here. Menu looks good with a nice selection. First impression was okay. Place is nice and clean but when seated the booth was cracking and the menus were worn and a bit dirty. The server was prompt and the food came quickly. I had the Huevos Rancheros with "Texas" chili on top. It was pretty good but there were beans in the chili and true Texas chili does not have beans!!! ;-) GF had poached eggs with the "special" potatoes and cilantro sausage. Eggs were cooked well and the potatoes had a good flavor but we both agreed it would have been nice it they had a bit more of a crisp to them. The cilantro sausage was not so great. Came for dinner with friends for a holiday get-together and had a great experience. Waiter and staff were attentive and friendly, service was spot on, and we felt welcome just like we were in someone's home. I had the salmon entrée and it was large, and cooked just right. Where do I start? Okay so service is okay, everyone around us was getting their coffees topped off and then they eventually remembered our existence. The food really missed the mark. We ordered 2 "The Works French Toast" and a "Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict" and my personal order was 1/2 French Toast with a cup of Strawberries, everything was bland and our French Toast needed syrup. You shouldn't need syrup for French Toast. French Toast should hold its own ground but even with the strawberries and syrup it was barely enjoyable. The pulled pork was good in the benedict but also was not great on its own. We were hungry out of towners with high expectations due to the other reviews, with that said, Wow you locals have a low bar. No way we're coming back, please change your corn flake French Toast it's not helping and your hollandaise sauce is bland. 2 stars cause at least your staff was sweet. read more

Really liked it overall. Parking is good. Walked in, was greeted soon by one of the staff. Seated us right away. Our drink order was taken without too long a wait. The drinks were good. Was very good quality, lightly seasoned, good quality ingredients went into it. The fries were very good. We dipped them in the ravioli red sauce. We tried their apricot bread pudding. Bland. Unexciting. Didn't get apricots from it. Needs something acidic somehow to cut the bland sweet, needs something to vary the texture, whole thing was soft and bland and sweet. It was nice though. Overall the food was very nice, we're fans now. The service was very good. The drinks were good. The prices were quite reasonable and I would argue this is a very good value spot. My wife didn't like our location due to wait staff going in and out a door right by it, but it was kind of "on us", we were giving options on where to sit. I am sure they would have relocated us if we tried. Just note that the booth right next to their door to their patio is a bit drafty. It didn't bug me at all. read more

Very disappointed with dinner last night. We ordered the garlic chicken and fusilli pasta. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The pasta had some cheese that was not shaved Asiago as stated. It tasted strange and did not compliment the dish. The pasta dish also had marinated artichokes that tasted rancid. It was not listed as an ingredient and we asked the waiter why they were in the dish. The waiter said he was going to talk to Chef Jim because he was not sure why they put chokes in the dish. We never got a response. Our waiter pointed out the Chef to us over on the other side of the restaurant. The Chef was too busy getting a massage at one of the other tables! Very unprofessional and food was disappointing. We will not be back. read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FIRST TIME!! this deffinately stood out higher than what i expected and i can not wait to return! the place is quaint, cozy, and very calming and the ambiance is just so soothing! its like home! plus the comfort food doest hurt ;) before i tell all about how great Marstons is, i will say our waitress, (she was asian, the only asian just referencing to not look around) was unfriendly, pushy, and i would not say rude, but her attitude just was not very pleasant. another waitress, blondish lady, seemed very nice, outgoing, friendly, fun yet she wasnt our waitress. anyway now to the food goat cheese salad as an entree: salad was very simple, mixed greens, tomatoes, and fried goat cheese...but omg the dressing was so good you did not need anything else in the salad, and the cheese was just so warm, soft, crunchy, creamy ooo my mouth is watering just thinking about it! chicken pot pie: we were recommded to get this, and boy was i soooo glad i chose the pot pie!! it is a classic/fancy style, soup style with the puff pastry on top. the pot pie "soup" was FULL of HUGE CHUNKS of chicken, potato, red/green bell peppers, mushrooms, and just so creamy and good, not too thick, not too runny jsut right! it was like a combo of pot pie and chowder, with the added deliciousness..and whats that?? a layer of ooey gooey puff pastry hidden underneath all that deliciousness just soaking up the soup waiting for it to be found and eaten? well dont mind if i do! ortega tuna melt: this wasnt a big hit..we like finding those tuna melts that just stand out,with exceptional taste and builds, from the bread to cheese to what they mix in the tuna...this one wasnt bad, but nothing special and would not recommend..the tuna salad was plain, swiss cheese gave it some flavor along with the toasting and oat bread..the chillis didnt help either, just kinda there lol so overall, i still say 5/5 stars, and love to come back for breakfast or lunch and try more from their small, yet deliciouss menu! oh and btw shout out to the sous chef Chris Wells! great friend of mine and he does a great job in the kitchen! read more

I love this place. I noticed I gave it a lower review a few years ago. I gave it another chance and now it's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town. I usually get the Pasadena salad but substitute the sesame chicken from the Cordierra salad. I have to say the chicken is always perfectly prepared. Tender and not dry. My lemon drop martini is always great. The crab cakes aren't made with fake meat, you can really see and taste the actual crab. I didn't give a full five stars because I think they're slightly understaffed and the waiters don't have the availability to be as on it as they should be. Really friendly staff just run a little ragged which results in forgotten requests. I love sitting on the patio when the weather is pleasant. Just a nice overall experience. read more

We came here for breakfast while we were waiting for car maintenance. The good was pretty yummy! My hubby had the eggs Benedict, and I had the Burgos rancheros. Both were pretty big portions. We shared both and did not need lunch later that afternoon. The restaurant seemed pretty clean. It was pretty busy on the Saturday morning we were there. We didn't have to wait long, so that was good. Unfortunately they only had a bathroom with two stalls which seemed to be a bit small for the crowd. They had a nice patio area with heaters, which looked pleasant. They also had a little bar area that was nice for maybe if you were there as a party of 1 :). Great spot for breakfast! Located in Valencia in a very pretty retail center with lots of parking availability. I ordered the pulled pork benedict. The pork was excellent - very well seasoned. Like the Pasadena location, this location provides good food and great service for a reasonable price. I was there for dinner and ordered the Grilled Tasmanian Salmon. The fish was fresh and cooked just right. Unlike the Pasadena location, they take reservations -- a plus for those busy mornings when one can crave a Marston's breakfast. Great brunch place for the Valencia area. I have actually been to the Pasadena location as well and it's comparable. Here is the rundown. The Californian Omelet: Pretty good. I liked the chicken sausage and avocado in it. The potatoes that came with it were just ordinary breakfast potatoes. Nothing to write home about. French Toast: I think this is their specialty. Marston's puts corn flakes on the edges of their french toast to give it the extra crispiness. I like that. I recommend getting this to anyone that comes here. Bloody Mary: After being in New Orleans the week prior and had an awesome brunch experience with a make your own bloody mary bar, I wanted one with my meal this time. It wasn't that great here. Some other reviewers were recommending the spicy bloody mary, so maybe that one is better. Bread pudding: AMAZING!! I don't usually like bread pudding but this did not even taste like bread pudding. It was like a whole other entity. Highly recommended! I also mooched off my parents' blackened salmon wrap. It was pretty good. Marston's overall had great service. My sister frequently comes and asks for a modified salad, which they accommodated happily. If you're looking for other breakfast places in the Valencia area, I also recommend Eggs n Things and Eggplantation. Haven't been to those 2 in a while though. read more

Been here twice, and both visits were great. 1st time I came for dinner. Our server Dayne, gave us great recommendations and excellent service. I had the scallops (amazing) and my brother had the pot pie, which was a refreshingly light take on a traditionally heavy dish. We had a wine snob at the table, and Dayne's recommendations were a hit. 2nd time we came for breakfast. I know that breakfast is a chaotic meal for a server, but ours was on top of it. I ordered the regular mimosas, and my husband had the bloody marys. I thought my mimosas were fine, but he did not think the bloody marys were that great, and he is a huge bloody mary fan. The omelet was really good; it has chicken sausage, spinach, avocado, tomato, and cheese. Both came with potatoes. This place is awesome. I come here a couple times a month for happy hour. The food is consistent and delicious. The service is great. Marstons beer is yummy! I've had a couple things off their regular menu which are also delicious. The dishes are worth the price being charged. I know it's not the most affordable place in town; but, you get what you pay for. Happy hour is a great way to get the best of both worlds. I've been there at least 50 times and the chef has yet to say hi to me. He always somehow walks right past my table... But, I won't hold that against him. One day, maybe he'll notice me. The servers recognize me and treat me well and that's what really matters. The only downfall of this place is that it's hard to find. But I can't say that I am surprised given the nature of the SCV diner -- heaven forbid that Santa Clarita residents endorse a restaurant that isn't a chain! We're not from around here; and we LOVE the mom and pop restaurant. We used to go to Marstons when we lived in Pasadena! We love this place; great breakfast (different than the usual); great service most of the time and a killer Happy Hour from 3-7 every night. Inexpensive appetizers, great cocktails (raspberry mojito is yummy) in a nice setting. Check out their loyalty club. 20% off makes their somwhat high prices come back down to reasonable! We have eaten here twice in the last two weeks and both times thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I am enjoying that there isn't the huge wait that there often is at other restaurants in the area. The menu is pretty straight forward and the pasta dishes seem to have homemade pasta in them, which is a plus. I love the fresh ingredients and the heirloom tomatoes and their mozzarella is delish! It is a bit loud inside, but I find that in a lot of restaurants now days. They don't use as much noise softening decor as the style now is more clean and sleek - wish that someone would come up with a noise absorbing wall covering or decoration that would fit with the modern styling - they would make a fortune.
