Being in the South on vacation, I KNEW I needed to get some good barbecue. I heard great things about Martins and the hype was definitely well worth it. We got a sampler that fed up to 10-ish people that had ribs, turkey, brisket, and a few other meats. We got the Mac n cheese, baked beans, and fries for sides and EVERYTHING was delicious and so authentic. The meat was smoky, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone tender. The Mac n cheese was also a highlight. I do wish the barbecue sauces on the table were thicker, but that's a small thing I can overlook. Service was absolutely great and quick. Although Nashville isn't known for its BBQ, Martins is one of the city's best spots if you're craving some. The inside of this particular location is spacious; grab a spot at any open table when it's not busy. Both the dry rub and the glaze on the ribs are tasty and the meat falls off the bone, though you have to watch out for small bones and gristle with these ribs. The brisket is tasty but could be a little less fatty - half of the portion ends up in a corner on my plate. The house made sauce is one of my favorite flavors when it comes to sweet bbq sauces, but I wish it wasn't so watery. I would recommend Martin's over some of the other local BBQ spots across town. My wife and I had lunch there yesterday with friends. We've always liked the food, but yesterday was different. Food was great, but service was absolutely outstanding. Super friendly employees at every level; constantly coming by our table and asking if we'd like refills, etc. I had the half chicken, white meat, with green beans and baked beans. My wife had the smoked turkey sandwich and chips. Both were as good as it gets. The music continues to be a little too loud; makes it hard to have a conversation with our guests, but at least a track was playing 90's country, which made it bearable! Been here every time we've been in Nashville and always enjoy it. Today gets 4 stars because a very sick mouse dropped from the rafters on to the table next to us. We came to this location after trying to visit another location on a Friday night because the previous location didn't have anything left. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they have a full bar with some strong drinks. We got some brisket, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, they ran out of ribs. For sides we got cornbread pancake, broccoli, mac and cheese. I really Liked the broccoli. We also got the pecan pie and the fudge pie. We devoured our meal and there was plenty of seating. Good bbq spot for a casual dinner. It's very chill environment and sitting arrangements. If you're looking for a restaurant experience, this place wouldn't be my first choice. Crowd seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals. Food order (combos available) is taken inside, then you find available table. It was packed but the space is big so there are plenty tables & bar seats. We enjoyed our ribs with beers at the outdoor sitting area in the back which has its own bar (you order your drinks there and take it to your table yourself). Food was delicious, well seasoned and cooked. Sides were a little cold but still good. For the amount of people there, everything came out within decent time. The Whole Hog BBQ was just ok, but not what I was expecting as I usually have BBQ from a Boston Butt/Shoulder that has good bark and is full of flavor. Food is always amazing here! We've tried the pulled pork, brisket, chicken, smoked sausage, hush puppies, mac n cheese, green beans and baked beans and all of it was great! I love the atmosphere and they offer both indoor and outdoor dining. The service is good and often very friendly. However, some of the staff could be a little bit friendlier like (smile more when greeting or serving the customers and don't look like I asked too much of them when I ask for a refill or more BBQ sauce or a to go box) these are mainly some of the staff bringing the food to the tables, but NOT always every visit. (Although it has happened to me personally twice now.) BUT all in all it was a very pleasant experience. I ordered the brisket platter with a hoe cake and green beans. My wife and daughter both ordered the Nachos with pulled pork. My brisket was very dry and flavorless...not meaty or smoky flavor at all. My wife's nachos were stale tasting and limp...no crispness whatsoever. There were also two jalapeno slices...two. Big brother plate is a great move for two people and I'm stuffed. Huge portion of rib. A slab of meat and bones on your plate. It was so tasty you didn't need any sauce. Baked beans were fine. First food stop in Nashville and it did not disappoint! Thanks to the driver that my aunt and uncle-in law met on their Uber ride. The driver recommended Martin's, but specifically the Belmont location. I think it may be because it's the OG location. A little warmer on those sides, but they have fans blaring. You walk up to the counter, pay, they give you a number and they will bring the food to you. - TLC - The girl at the cash register was super nice, polite and very helpful. The guy who brought our order turned out to be the same. - Noms - I love trying as little bit of as much as I can! My husband and I chose the following: *6 smoked wings - ordered hot. Great flavor with an amazing sauce. Topped with jalapeño for some extra heat. *Big Brother sampler - comes with brisket and ribs on a bed of 2 slices of white bread and comes with choice of 2 sides. We chose baked beans and mac & cheese. The brisket was cooked well, with the accordion effect, but would have liked a tiny bit more moisture. Nothing the BBQ sauce couldn't fix though. The ribs were also flavorful and fall-off-the-bone delicious! The baked beans were really nice and smoky and delicious! The mac and cheese to be was just fine. My wife's pork was dry she said the best part of her meal was the Mac and cheese. My ribs were well seasoned and the sauce was tasty. The beer selection was awesome. Dropped by Martin's for an office lunch. They gave tables for big parties and a ton of seating, so I definitely recommended if you have a large group. They have limited parking spaces in the back and street parking available. For my main dish, I got pork bbq sandwich with a side of potato salad. The potato salad does contain eggs so just a heads up for my vegetarian friends. The pork was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. I loved the slaw the sandwich was topped with. I wasn't the biggest fan of the standard bbq sauce but luckily I got a sauce sample. My favorite was the spicy one! These are vinegar based bbq sauces so they will be a little different than other bbq shops. I'm not sure that I'm the biggest fan of vinegar based bbq, but I can tell they make everything with love and precision. I wish the potatoes were a little less boiled and soft in my salad, but otherwise, the flavor was nice. The staff were helpful and kind. I had a great experience here. read more

I gotta say...this place has so good baked beans, pulled pork, and chicken. The smoke rings on everything was so apparent and the taste was amazing on everything. The only thing that made them lose a star was the sausage. I'm not sure if I just got a bad sausage, but it was really gross and over-peppery. Based off a recommendation from a friend I tried Martin's. I don't know if it's the location or just that it was late at night around 7:00 p.m. but the place was not very busy. It had cute decorations and was clean . The staff was also very friendly and nice . I ordered the brisket platter and was a little surprised to see how very small amount of brisket was served and slide of green beans was drowning in the liquid. For the cost of the platter and the amount received I would not recommend it. The brisket was okay not the best I've had before. The food was served lukewarm.
