We had a family lunch here today. When driving through what was not long ago "the country" this place will appear to you like an oasis. It is an impressive establishment. You will most immediately notice an outside area complete with several corn hole games, a roping practice area, and a fire pit for people to make s'mores at. Upon closer inspection on the west side of the place you will notice an impressive outside "patio" area that is complete with a band stage. Outside rating=4 Inside you will see a tastefully decorated dining room, simple, but not sparse, and nice. Inside rating=4 The Service was Excellent. Our waiter was great, he sincerely welcomed us and patiently guided us through the menu and drinks. Service =5 The food was average and did not live up to the rest of the place in wow factor. I got a two meat combo with brisket and ribs. Both were moist and tender but lacked any flavor other than pepper in both the meats and the sauce. My side, a baked potato, once again was just ok. Wow is it busy on a Saturday in a late Spring evening . Waited an hour with appetizers that were fair. Drinks good. Service fine. We noticed the high volume of sound as a lack of dampening. Hard to talk inside. To warm for us to sit outside. I have been here before and like the experience. We had less to eat since our pupus were filling. The ladies split a brisket meat salad they enjoyed. I on the other hand could have been told the two meats portion was small. Two ribs and a slice of brisket is not much when at most BBQ places the ribs are a half rack and two slices with sides Ala carte . The sides were good as the asparagus was hefty as was the potato salad. The ribs and meat ,being small I was told by the manager, are weighed. So I suggested they have a larger portion and call it King size. Like twice the meat and charge more. They asked how the meats were , the truth was up the road at 407 BBQ it is better. So the thing to learn is get your entree by the 1/2 pound and sides if you want a larger portion. The bar or waiting area serves food too. The rooms are not cold, around 78 with fans.outside 80s. Our first time was mediocre. However will give it another chance at some point in the future. Our waitress was very, very busy. She brought water and proceeded to take our food order, we wanted to order drinks but realizing the service was already bad we decided not to order them. We ordered brisket nachos which came out quick and flavorful. The kids hamburger was very salty. The cheese fries was not very cheesy and not melted either. The brisket was extremely fatty and the ribs were decent. Good spot though for happy hour, appetizer and listen to live music. The ambience is great! It was a nice night. The atmosphere is 10 out of 10. Easily one of the coolest places to go eat or grab drinks in the area. The food is pretty damn good all in all. I have never had a bad meal at this place. As consistent is the food is good, the service is as bad. The first couple of times I ate here with a relatively small party 3-4 people it was like pulling teeth to get drink refills. I chaulked that up to just having some bad luck. No matter where you go there is always going to be "that kid who didn't help on the group assignment but gets the same grade". Well that is always my server at Marty B's. However, I have eaten here 6 times hoping like crazy for a different experience but never getting it. It made me question myself. Is there something wrong I am doing here even though I rarely have the same problem elsewhere and rarely have complaints about servers? Seems like an anomaly. Bottomline, the food is great and the atmosphere is off the charts. But if you are coming in for a meal be sure to bring your own water as a back up if you need it to avoid choking. There is a better chance of finding a one ended stick than getting a proactive or prompt drink refill, by my experience. To be fair some servers are on point, but I have never gotten them. Today after requesting a water refill for a guest of ours who had an empty glass our server proceeded to go to another table take an order then completely forgot and never returned till she brought the check. I was going to just go grab the pitcher myself after 15 mins passed but saw a nice young man who was gracious enough to assist our table in my server's absence. He seemed to be one of the servers you hope for but never get. Great place if you are a masocist that sometimes feels the need to be treated like you have the bubonic plague. I took a group of 12 senior citizens (and 7 met us there!) for lunch last Friday. They were able to seat us all together and one server, Dillon, took fantastic care of every one of us! I went there today with my Wife for lunch for the first time. My wife ordered the Guacamole and chips and I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. My wife says hers was OK but the pulled pork sandwich fell apart because of the enormous amount of slaw that soaked the bread. I NEVER leave reviews, not because I'm unimpressed with dining experiences, but I suppose I just never take the time to actually do it. That being said, I felt compelled to after visiting Marty B's last night. Most notably, this is because our server, whose name I am embarrassed to say I don't remember, went above and beyond and then above again to make the entire experience amazing. He took the time to make sure my three year old son was satisfied and continued engaging with him the entire time. Of course, all service was exceptional, and all interactions had with employees were genuine, but this young man's kindness and worth ethic far surpassed our expectations. AND I'm a tough mom! I can honestly say I'm impressed. I wasn't expecting that they would have such a diverse menu and such flavors that i would be so impressed. Marty B's isn't just some BBQ joint outside a backwater town, they are a culinary destination. I had the Smoke and Stuffed Poblanos w/ a side of frys and the green chili mac-n-cheese and it was just great. The mac-n-cheese is large elbow and the cheese is creamy as hell and the frys were spiced just rite. The star of this meal was definitely the poblano. I can't say enough to do it justice. I can say it's only on the lunch menu, that's why i chose it, thank you Madi. The topper on this lunch experience was meeting Marty, yes he came by and was interested in how everything was. Had lunch there today 11/27. ordered the San Antonio salad. Was disappointed the chicken wasn't smoked also was cold. The corn appeared to be just shaved off the cob, wasn't grilled or cooked. The worst was the salad dressing taste like mayonnaise, was supposed to be jalapeno ranch! My wife ordered a bloody Mary and the tomato juice was very light, it tasted bad especially for a $11.00 drink! I have been there 3 or 4 times and this was the worst experience! Food was AMAZING! This was my first time here and my boyfriend and I met up with his Mom for Mother's Day. It was crowded but we surprisingly got a seat pretty quickly. I got a BlueBonnet Lemon vodka yumminess .. or two. Delicious! It hits you in 5 minutes haha. We all shared some brisket queso which was an interesting take I thought on queso. It was a little greasy but really tasty and had a bit of a spicy kick to it. I ordered the brisket tacos and my boyfriend got the pulled pork tacos and honestly they were both so good I couldn't tell which was best. The spicy chipotle sauce is so good, if you ask for the sauce on the side you get more of it than what is already put on them. Juicy, tender.. the brisket and pork melts in your mouth. It's very filling so if you think "pfft it's only 2 tacos" oh no... trust me. They say it's Texas size and I would have to agree. 7 hours later I'm still full. Haha. The prices are decent, for four people it was about $100 before tip which being from Austin that's a bill for 2 people usually on a date Saturday night so I was really pleased. The food and atmosphere is truly 5 stars. (I had to dock a star because of the music choice... ugh. Christian Rock? I would rather listen to ANYTHING ELSE. PLEASE CHANGE THE MUSIC) With their campfire for s'mores and cornhole games. They have a play steer to learn how to rope on (hilarious). They have live bands and a great patio with a bar outside. A lot of room even with so many people out for Mother's Day I didn't feel too squeezed in. The noise level is a bit much inside but you get used to it. I think because it echoes a bit. The food is really good. The environment is party-like. The outside tables have a limited menu but is an extremely good time if they have a band performing and you're with friends. The inside has a nice menu. The food is delicious and they have developed some wonderful dishes centered on their tasty brisket. Marty B, himself, walks around from time to time welcoming guests with a smile and supports his local community and schools. He's the kind of owner you like buying from. If I had a complaint, it would be that they don't have nutritional info on the menu. The only other comment I have is their kids prices are high? 6.99 for grilled cheese plus 2.49 for a soda? Interesting Saturday Night! First, I want to be clear....Marty has gone above and beyond to work with local residents and sound control. Let me assure, it's been no easy task. For that, thank you! Weekends are busy and after raining the entire month of October, everyone was out and wanted to have a good time last night. Apparently a local cop was ready to meet quota because he literally sat on the street for hours writing ticket after ticket to local patrons. (Irony-he sat in a no parking zone for two hours writing tickets for those that parked in the No Parking Zone. I'd think the officer"patrol" should patrol the neighborhood but I get it. Quota is quota. Service. Not horrible but not good. My breaking point.... So, we decided to go celebrate a friends birthday. We were just there for a few drinks, appetizers and dessert. We played connect 4 & corn hole. Now, a waitress decides she wants to start cleaning up in the very area we are standing. We were confused because we thought maybe they were closing and specifically asked her "are you closing?" By this time, she picked up all of the corn hole bags -1. So YEAH, we made it work with 1 bag. Better than 0! Then as she was getting drinks together to clean up which were ours she dropped the cornhole bag on our chips guac/salsa. Here's why I won't be back.... thinking no one was paying attention she picked the cornhole bag off the food and planned to walk away allowing us to continue to eat the food!!!! Seriously! Who does that?!!! Once she realized we were very much watching her she begrudgingly looked at us with a tacky I roll and asked "do you want me to get you another one?" I was so repulsed by her lack of common sense we just said no. We also made it clear we weren't done with our drinks. It was so bizarre. One would think since they were still clearly open, she would've asked if anyone could use a refill or water or anything else. So, we spent $130 bucks on drinks, appetizers and dessert just to have the server treat us like crap and make us feel so unwelcome. Great job! I'm so done with this place. read more

Fantastic meal. We had a large party (9) on Sat night, were advised 1+ hour wait- they were busy. Great atmosphere fun outside- cornhole, kids "roping", etc. we were seated in about 45!! The service was great. The food was honestly incredible, starting with the brisket queso. Salsa/chips were great w jalapeño ranch (a bit spicy for me but others loved it). Pork chop was the BOMB!! So yummy- for me, worth the price for a "pricy" meal. Many got combo platters, chicken wings, chicken salad, Tex cake....fantabulous!!
