There are a ton of reviews giving general praise, so I'll throw in a cool story: I almost always get the dry rub wings - unbelievable taste - and when I got them this last time they were smaller than normal. We've been here a couple of times and really really wanted to like it... Blame it on bad luck but the service every time has been ridiculous. Who knew it would be so hard to give someone your money? My husband and I got drinks and appetizers here most recently and after hunting down a waitress to ask for menus and pointing out to her where we were sitting 3 times, we got our order taken (after 30 minutes) for a majority- ice/ water cocktail, and chips&guacamole (which was hard, under ripe avocados, with canned salsa). I will give credit where credit is due and mention that the beer prices are not super outrageous like a lot of restaurants now, and the atmosphere outside is cool...but that's all I got. I would say only come for the BBQ because that is what a lot of the positive reviews are for, but when we came for BBQ, it was over priced and just decent. read more

This place has a great atmosphere and is absolutely gigantic. Their food is great except for their BBQ. I ordered a two meat platter (which was pretty expensive) and got two slices of brisket and three tiny ribs with barely any meat on it. It almost felt like a joke. The flavor was ok, but nothing compared surrounding BBQ joints. Their Tex-Mex is great and so is their service so I keep coming back. Just avoid any BBQ item. Even their brisket kolache at their coffee stand is super disappointing. read more

First time visiting last weekend. This place was packed! They had a shuttle (golf cart) to take you there if you parked far away. We got lucky and got the spot right in the front. The party we were with made the reservation hours in advance but we still waited about an hour to be seated maybe more. The restaurant had outdoor space to keep the little ones busy but if you hang out there your feet will get dirty. Our waiter was nice but did not check with us throughout the meal. We did not have silverware until after some of the food arrived. Some people at our table had to wait longer than the rest of the table for their meals. When the food came out the waiters were all confused as to whose meal belonged to who. I ordered the brisket with a side of Mac n cheese and a side of grilled asparagus. The Mac n cheese had the thick pasta and white cheddar sauce. I prefer sharp cheddar. The brisket had a lot of fat in it and became overwhelming. There was a bottle of bbq on the table and it was supposed to be hot but it wasn't. Towards the end of my meal I found these pickled cucumbers and red onions under the brisket that were so good. I wish I had seen them before. If they bottled it up I would buy it. My favorite part was the grilled asparagus, it was the thinner asparagus and it was perfectly seasoned and still had some char from the fire. The menu for the kids was a little disappointing but not surprising. I wish they would offer a meal that includes Whole Foods like veggies and fruits along with smaller portions of what the restaurant offers. Kids deserve more than nuggets and burgers. We also tried the outdoor s'mores you purchase as a dessert. It was already about 100 degrees we don't need a fire anywhere as a feature, but the kids saw it and had to have it. My favorite part of this place was the lady who drove the shuttle. Super nice and welcoming and offered a mini ride just for fun. She knows hospitality. read more

Read an article about this place that boasted bringing a hill country restaurant with BBQ to the area. Wanted to let them be open for a bit before trying them out. Went on a sunday afternoon. They were fairly busy for the time of day. I was pretty set on trying the BBQ since i grew up in that area and would always welcome that type of BBQ to are area. Was impressed with the design. Large open barn motif with windows. Thought it was interesting to have the rustic outside with the polished inside, guess kinda going for ying and yang approach. Felt a little too fancy for a tex-mex / BBQ / steak house at lunch. Understand that they are trying to capture a large crowd at dinner based on the standard menu. That included so many steaks at lunch. I did a sampling of the BBQ since that is what i wanted. I had the chicken, ribs, regular sausage, and brisket. Had a choice of salad and one side which seemed funny for a BBQ plate at lunch. Was so excited. Well, the anticipation of this food was the best part of the visit. There BBQ is far from the quality that you would expect at a well-known hill country BBQ place. The brisket was very dry. I prefer the point which has more flavor since it has more fat rendered when cooked. The seasoning was very bland and the bark was vey blown out. The sausage link came with about 20 half slices in it that allowed any juices with flavor and heat out prior to being served. This had to be one of the most bland texas sausages that i have ever had. I had a dark quarter of chicken that was very bland as well. Very little smoke flavor and the joints were hard to separate indicating it had not been smoked long enough. The best thing was the two ribs, but were still pretty dry. Dry rubbed BBQ should not be dry texture when served. It would appear to me that these ribs were cut a long time before going onto the plate. For sides i had the house and jalapeno mac and cheese. the house salad arrived and i thought i was a texas roadhouse for a moment when it arrived. It looked exactly the same. Finally, the mac and cheese with jalapenos. Did not like this very much. It was pasta swimming in a watery cheese sauce. Thanks but no thanks. Much better food in the area for the money. Grew up eating BBQ in Luling, lockhart, and Elgin. I have high expectations of a place that says they have hill country inspired BBQ. read more

This place is fantastic! Food is excellent, you feel like you are getting what you pay for. Staff are always polite, service is normally excellent or at least good. Managers walk around and actively make sure everything is spot on. Outdoor seating and entertainment is great! The only complaint I have is it can get really loud in inside the restaurant to the point that it can be hard to hear the person I'm with. I think they could use a few sound deadening panels on the ceiling. I bring people from out of town here all the time. It's a staple in the community. read more

I've made two visits in the last two months and I am pretty much done. Don't get me wrong the food is good! However, the atmosphere doesn't set up to have a nice dinner as it is way too loud in there and you can't hear the conversation going on at your own table. I went over this afternoon with my dog to watch some football and their outdoor patio area. However, we were review service. They don't allow pets, at all. There's a major train going on in Texas, especially Dallas, to be pet friendly. I'm not saying dog should be allowed in the restaurant area, but outside on the patio seems reasonable. Probably one of the bigger establishments in Bartonville, TX and a place you can't find elsewhere. I was in the area and we decided to go check out Marty B's. If you go on Yelp, don't think Marty B's is your typical Texas barbecue joint because it isn't. They pretty much serve a big variety and their menu is huge so you're going to find something that will peak your interest. I was pretty shocked to how big Marty B's is. It reminded me Woodrow's but more family oriented and a lot bigger. I went on a Saturday night and the wait was about 30 minutes. Rest assured, they have lawn games for you to make the wait time go a little bit quicker. They have a large patio with lights strung and it's just really cute and spacious. There's a bonfire for you to sit and enjoy your drinks before a table is available. Inside is dimmed but also spacious. A ton of seating. We got the cheese fries that's loaded as an appetizer and OH MY GOSH. This is probably the largest appetizers I've ever seen and it is actually fully loaded meaning they make sure each fry is equally loved and doused in sour cream, cheese and bacon. I decided to get the pork chop with green beans and it was okay. Not the best pork chop in the world, a bit salty for my liking. I would still go back though. They have a large menu where if you aren't a BBQ fan, you'll still find something else that peaks your interests. I also wouldn't be surprised if everything is kind of mediocre since their menu is so big. But the service and how the format is, is definitely worth the visit. read more
