I was recently gifted a 90$ giftcard for massageenvy. On the website it states that a 60 minute massage is 60-80$ and a 90 minute massage is 90-120$. My family member purchased the 90$ giftcard, expecting that it would cover the cost of an hour long massage. After receiving the gift I started exploring ME locations in my area. The cost for a 60 minute massage started at 125$, DOUBLE THE PRICE THAT WAS ADVERTISED. This is far from our budget and we rarely get messages (maybe once a year) so it was very frustrating to see that they had lied on their website. We contacted the local establishments and exclaimed that the prices didnt match and their response was that they are a private establishment and that they dont correlate with corporate. They would not be able to offer us a refund because it's a corporate matter, and then tried to upsell us to buy a membership which would lower the cost of a single massage but would make us spend a significant more amount of money for the single massage we wanted. It is impossible to connect with a representative at corporate, and is clear that this company does not care about their consumers and only works to make the company money at the expense of their users. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT USE!!! read more

So I have been to this location about three times and the first time was great with Kyle. Unfortunately, he went on vacation so I tried two other therapists. The second one rushed me through the process and his hands were ashy and callous. I did complain right after my session but still decided to come back for a third time because I really liked the staff up front. About two weeks ago, I went for an hour massage and though my therapist was nice he talked too much and did not allow me to relax. He asked about my job, where I was from, unnecessary small talk and it was fine until he started bringing that the dating scene is hard in DC. Mind you I am naked and a male is touching my body while trying to share his dating experiences. I made it clear I did not want to continue the conversation and instead stayed quiet during the rest of my session but in all honesty I felt very uncomfortable. If I were to recommend someone it would definitely be Kyle. Other than that, I don't think I will visit this location anymore. read more

My first review, since I feel like I have to stick up for this place. I had very low expectations given the horrible reviews, and also because I used to manage a massage therapy center with wonderful therapists. Maybe they read the reviews and made corrections, because I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here (so far). I only have a few complaints/recommended fixes: - 1st receptionist I spoke with was hesitant, slow, not knowledgable of staff/techniques. She was incredibly pleasant though, and despite the lengthy call (5-10 min), I got exactly what I wanted on my first visit. - They did not have anyone who specialized in Trigger Point. Kind of disappointing but not a dealbreaker. She worked a bit in regardless when I got my massage. - Massage therapist did not touch my feet or do any reflexology (I'm used to this being the "closing" move) - but I didn't specify that I wanted her to end with feet or touch them at all. She did exactly what I asked for, nothing more, nothing less. Deep tissue but I wasn't jumping off the table (almost) - but she was very in tune with my breathing so she was on point. She also didn't yammer away, thank God. My biggest complaint of massage therapists. - Massage was 55 minutes - I think they have to do this as they seem to schedule back to back (we always gave a 15 minute window at my place for this reason). The receptionist upon arrival was lovely - he was helpful, courteous, etc. He got me at the end when I was "massage drunk" and I bought a package. Doh! Oh well, good for him. My first massage was great - symmetrical, which I'm big on -- and the perfect amount of pressure. Her name was Lei and I was very happy with her. I have my second massage scheduled for this weekend with Urna - the reason I'm writing this review is that I called at 8:15 this morning and the general manager (Stephanie?) assisted me with scheduling and her customer service was stellar. Ask lots of questions, be specific with what you want and I think you'll have a good experience. read more

Came to Massage Envy in Clarendon even though there's one much closer to my apartment because the reviews were better here. I'm so glad I did. The desk staff were super nice and were never pushy. When I explained that I wasn't in a position to sign up for the monthly package, they let it go without a fight. Dawn provided my 60 minute massage and complimentary non-stop entertainment. She was super attentive and extremely considerate of my sensitive medical issues. I went in feeling like a bundle of steel wire and came out feeling positively noodly. Everyone was great. I was a ME member for a couple years, but I decided to forgo the membership for this past year due to attempting to save money. Always had a pleasant experience with them though. Nothing spectacular, but I felt like I got my money's worth. I called on Friday, 8/19/16, at 8:02p (I have the record in my phone. It was a 3min conversation) to schedule an appointment for today, 8/22/16, at 7p due to some stress pain I've been having. They got my name to look me up in the computer from my old account, they took my credit card number, the whole shebang. I was looking forward to the massage the entire day! I then show up this evening and nothing was booked! Now, I understand how training goes, and I'm not blaming the new team member that delivered this news to me, but I am very disappointed in the supposed manager that was on the phone with another customer next to him that should be able to at least see from the interaction going on that something isn't right, and could have easily signaled to the new team member to have me wait to see if he had made a mistake. Instead, all I get is an option to book again later this week, and this feeling in the pit of my stomach that my credit card is now going to be charged a no show fee. read more

I've been going to this Massage envy for about 6 months now. I've been very pleased with every massage! I started going because I get very sore from crossfit and it got to the point where I needed to have a monthly massage to loosen everything up. I called the center and they said Urna had a last minute cancellation and she's usually very hard to book so I should jump on the opportunity. At first I thought this was a ploy, but boy was I was wrong. Urna is amazing!! I'm almost hesitant to say how awesome she is because I don't want her to be TOO busy haha. But no, she's awesome. I usually have to book 2 months in advance with her. I started with 1 hour sessions and told her my focus was sports therapy massage and she does a lot of deep tissue massage and stretching. She literally stretches my arms and legs and works on rotation. Its great! I did have one other appt with another therapist and while she was good and worked on some knots, she didn't have the same strength as Urna when it came to deep tissue. What's crazy is I'm never sore after Urna's sessions when I usually am after other massages. I think she just gets all the lactic acid out! As for the spa - its always very clean and calming. The ladies at the front have always been super courteous and helpful. The only problem I've had is trying to reach them by phone, but after 3-4 calls I can usually get someone. For the most part, I try to make another reservation at my appt. I haven't tried the facials so I can't speak to that. Very happy with my monthly membership! My missed months have rolled over as credits. read more

It's been 3 years since my bad experience so I think it's worth saying that we have made amends and their CS has gotten better. Currently have Monteisha as my therapist and she is AWESOME. Errol and Barbara are amazing! Receptionists and front desk staff have been efficient, helpful, and kind! I had a dismal experience with no follow-up/recognition of the problem at the Falls Church location, and the Clarendon staff delighted me when I gave their location a try. Clarendon team is definitely the team to beat! Barbara's deep tissue is phenomenal and Errol gets in and gets the knots out but knows when to back-off the pressure as well. 5 stars. read more

I would give this place one star but I am giving them an extra because they did try to fix the situation-- but not up to the standards I expected. I was hesitant to book a massage here after reading other reviews, but I did it because the price was right and they could fit me in with only about one week's notice. Most places told me it would be weeks and I really wanted a massage after running my half marathon. I showed up and was going through the briefing (and the staff were all very nice) but caught the girl say my massage was only 50 minutes. I confirmed a 90 minute massage on the phone. When questioned, she asked her manager after she told me that they couldn't accomodate me today... or the rest of the weekend. The manager offered me the same 50 minute massage for half price, but I went in there with the intent of getting 90 minutes. I will give them 2 stars for trying but no more because it is so frustrating to plan your week looking forward to something to find out that a small error can ruin the experience. I will probably never book another appointment here because I can find other spas that are more accomodating and can accurately book appointments. read more

I booked an appointment online, chose specifically what I wanted (deep tissue), and was matched with a masseuse-- arrived for the appointment, masseuse was 10 minutes late and then proceeded to tell me she did not do what I booked the appointment for and that I would need to reschedule with someone else. I am relatively new to getting massages -- my first here was the third in my life. Due to complications from a recent surgery, my doctor recommended that I get weekly massages for awhile. After receiving a great massage the first time, I got an 12 month membership -- but, I did switch to another employee (see details in the last paragraph). After four massages or so, I have the following to say --- Although I find the staff to be very polite and professional, the one hour massage never lasts one hour. On average, I have been given about 50 minutes of table time. I admit that I am not familiar with industry standards, but what is billed as a one hour massage should last one hour. If 50 minutes for a one hour massage is acceptable to you, then I say give this place a shot. (This experience confirms another reviewers experience -- uconn g) In response to a review by Pooja S., I had a somewhat related experience the first time. Although the guy gave me a very good massage -- deep, close to 60 minutes, etc, he did smell. I believe it was his breath... and he may have passed gas. Just being honest -- accidents do happen. This was my second visit to this location and I have had great service each time. Today, I walked in around 11:00am and they were able to fit me in at 1:00pm. I had seen a few good reviews for several of the massage therapists (Mike, Crystal, Barbara, Urna) and luckily one was available. I had Mike T. The front desk was very courteous and understanding as I booked three massages for the next couple weeks. Mike was very professional and asked a few questions at the start of the massage and answered my questions during the massage. He did a great job at working my neck and shoulders. The hot towel was a very nice touch. I do a lot of computer work and my neck and shoulders were a bit tight. He did a great job with just the right amount of pressure. He also found a few more spots that were tight, that I didn't even realize. As an added bonus, they were doing a special free sugar foot massage. Mike T. did a great job, one of the best foot massages I have ever had. By the time I left I was completely relaxed. I will definitely be going back and I have already made my appointment for next week. I am not sure why this place gets such bad ratings, but so far I have been very happy. I wish more people writing reviews would state who their therapists were, as it would make it much easier to make sure you are getting a good therapist. One word of advice make sure you tell the therapist what you want, and if anytime during the massage it isn't what you want, give them feedback. If there was anything I would change about this experience would be that when you are done with your massage would be to rest a few minutes in the tranquility room. I think the massages have been pretty good overall, but I'm very disappointed with the billing system and front desk manager. Although massage envy is closed (which I understand from Corona) and massages are unavailable, They will still bill you a monthly fee. }The front desk is open though _" is the response I get when I find this unethical___ no service should equal no fee___. They fail to realize they are not providing a service. I put a complaint in with the better business bureau. Also when you try to cancel the membership they give you a hard time! Absolutely, they make it almost impossible to cancel the account. They rollover the account every year even when the total number of credits goes over 30 credits. When you cancel the account you have 30-60 days to use up all your credits. There is no way to use them up. I tried to get gift cards for friends. Was given some. None of these friends were able to use their gift cards. There was always a scheduling problem until they expired. I had no problem with any of the therapists or even the receptionists. My problem is that they are NOT an honest business. read more

I don't know why everyone is so down on this -- Is it the best massage place ever? No. Absolutely not. But you can't beat $59 a month. They've always been courteous and professional, and I've had pretty decent massages. I was skeptical at first that a franchise could offer a similar experience to a spa or resort. I waited until my second time to write my review. I was impressed with the facility (clean and well maintained), staff (respectful, friendly, knowledgable) and, therapists (professionally trained and experienced) that I decided to sign up for a membership. An hour and a half massage for less than 90.00! You have to be kidding....where else can you do that and know what you are going to get. But it is great. It is great to look forward to this each month. You can try different therapists with different techniques or pick one and stick with them. It is so hard to find a good therapist, but Larissa is amazing!!! I was getting deep tissue massages until I found out about the percussion massage. If you are an athlete in any form - this is the massage you want. And Larissa will find every single trigger point and get it released. Also shout out to the front desk for taking care of the fact that I was not informed about the athletic clothing for this type of massage the first time I got it (luckily I had a change in my car). Other than missing that note, they explained what the difference is between percussion and other massage types. While the services are great, the location management ruins the entire experience. I had moved, and inquired about the cancellation process. A team member advised that I had to show up in person and fill out / submit the form to them in person, and then receive a confirmation call from them. I filled out and submitted the form in person, and never received a call. I called them and left word, and later received a confirmation call from a representative who advised that the cancellation was confirmed. Since they took 5 days to process, I ended up paying for that month (even though I called them multiple times before the deadline), but figured that it wasn't worth fighting. Today, however I noticed a new charge on my account. When I called them, they advised they have no record of my cancellation. They said that they can't find the form, and that I should have known to only submit the cancellation form to a manager, retain a copy, and that the form alone does not prove cancellation but that I need a confirmation of the call. When I advised that I did fill out and submit the form, and I did receive a call, their response was I should provide proof of the cancellation form and proof of the phone call conversation. Since I did not maintain a copy of either (also-did they expect me to record the call!?), they said that I had to do it over again and that I would be charged for this month. I explained that if their employees lost the form, and mistakenly made a confirmation call that it was their responsibility to honor the cancellation and refund me. They have refused to give me a refund and I am still waiting for a manager to call me back. I've had to resort to calling my bank to dispute the charge. This is no way to conduct business, and I find it utterly frustrating that I am held to a higher standard of filing / retaining copies of account notices than their own employees. Short of stalking a manager, I'm not sure how to cancel my account. Well no, I apparently must record a call from the manager and photocopy the confirmation form (and at this point I presume a selfie of me handing it over to them as well). With their response time, and disorganization / negligence I will most likely have to pay for July as well at this rate. I feel poorly for the talented masseuses and estheticians who work there. While they do a great job, it is the negligent management and inconsistent front desk customer service that ruins this place. read more

The massage services at this location were adequate, however their customer service was not. I requested my subscription get cancelled in March and completed all requested paper onsite to process this cancellation. However, I was still being billed four months after, when I called to rectify this with the location I was punted back and forth to another location and no one there would take ANY responsibility; as neither location could locate the paperwork I completed for the cancellation. I still have not gotten a resolution on my account. I would be weary of committing to their subscription, as I had a host of issues (which still have not been reconciled) with this location as well as the Potomac Yards location. I purchased a promotion bundle from Massage - Envy Clarendon, not realizing how difficult it is to book massages and trust that they will be kept! I booked massages for myself and my husband in January, and they were canceled. I then booked another appointment for March (the earliest they had available), which was now canceled as well! I'm now stuck with a gift card expiring by the end of March, and there are no deep tissue massages available the entire month. Huge waste of money and time. More hassle than relaxation. read more

You are missing out if you don't go to Massage Envy in Clarendon! They are so kind and attentive... You will feel at ease the whole time! I have the monthly membership and I see Crystal ] for facials and Mike for massages. The front desk and checkout staff are so kind and make sure you are seen as soon as you walk in. My only hesitation is that it really is bare minimum spa experience - there is not much "fluff" that I've seen in other spas but in my mind, the lower prices at massage envy reflect that. Spare yourself the hassle. I've been trying to cancel my membership for the last week. I've called this place about 7 times, and I keep getting the answering machine. They called back once, but only to tell me to call them back. No other information was given - no other instructions... And well you know the rest. I checked the website, and I can't find any other numbers. I mean - what am I supposed to do if I'm trying to book an appointment? Anyway. What a hassle. I'm guessing I have to go to my bank to cancel the stupid membership. (Mind you - I'm not trying to cancel early. I've been a member for over a year). Meh **update** I finally got ahold of Massage Envy. It took about a dozen calls, in the last week. I tried calling mornings, afternoons, weekdays, weekends. I am not exaggerating. 11 out of the 12 times, I got the answering machine. The only time I got a live person, I was immediately put on hold for about 20 minutes. What a pain in the ass. I've been to this location about a half dozen times, and it was never this bad. I understand that maybe they're short staffed or something. But 11 unsuccessful calls in 1 week is absolutely inexcusable for a service-oriented business. And there's this thing called temps. To be fair - once you get ahold of them they are super nice. Cancelling a membership is a pain in the ass though and involves a personal appearance at your home location, which is not all convenient for me. If you have any massage credits, you apparently have to use them within 30 days of your cancellation; w.t.f I have 4 credits, and as much as I would love to use 4 massages in 30 days, I simply don't have the time. You can gift massages, but I'm pretty sure you can only gift 1 per month. W.t.f, again. As for the massages themselves.. well I've had some truly great massages here. In particularly, I had a super sublime sport massage. But I've also had some sucky ones. All Massage Envy locations are franchises, so quality is high variable. This is my first review because usually I am too lazy to do this but my experience was so bad that I feel as if people need to know what they are getting themselves into. I was having a horrible day so my best friend made an appointment for us to go here. The guy that took me had horrible B.O. His B.O. was so bad that I couldn't think about anything else and sure as hell couldn't imagine sitting in a room with him for an hour with his hands all over me. I told someone else who worked there and they said they were aware of the situation and would comp my massage if i wanted to wait another HOUR for the next person to come available. I appreciate them trying to accommodate me but if you know about the situation---why haven't you done anything about it???? Does this place have absolutely no standards for the people that work there?? It's not necessary to shower or be clean before they put their hands all over your body? Completely disgusted. This location is one of the newest in the Massage Envy franchise. They've got serious competition. I went because I got a 1/2 price coupon in the mail, and I needed a massage. I called just after their opening time (8am) and booked a 9am appointment---nice. The half-price, first-time-only price was $49. I won't go back, because unless I buy one of their "memberships" for $59/month, my next massage will set me back $98. Which could perhaps be justified if you got an AMAZING massage, but I didn't. I got an upper-back, legs, and arms massage---hardly a full body massage. No face massage? No foot massage? And if I'd been treated to pre-warmed, scented oil, that would have been nice, but my masseuse used cold lotion, applied in copious handfuls. Ick! I went straight home to a hot shower, where I scrubbed it all off. The last straw was when it was "suggested" that an appropriate tip should be 18% of the full-priced massage---but on a half-price massage that amounts to 36%. I love this massage envy !!! I've bin a member for about 9 months and Their service is great, front desk is always patient with my scheduling and their therapist are phenomenal! They have options from deep tissue, Swedish, Sports massage. Front desk always seems constantly busy and I like to see that they care about me and my membership ! The very first time I went there my 1 hour massage was a 40 minute massage because my therapist had to leave suddenly in the middle of my massage. I made this point at the front desk and was told I would be given a complimentary foot scrub at my next visit. Next visit they had no record of my complimentary foot scrub, but promised at my next visit I would get one. That visit came and the therapist wasn't told about the foot scrub so he didn't have the necessary equipment. I was told at my next visit it would be remedied. After a while I just stopped reminding them about it. Well, let's just say it's been about a year now and I still haven't gotten that free foot scrub. Other than that I've been forgotten about a few times while waiting in the little waiting room, but once I am in, the massages I have been given are amaze balls. read more

She could "read" my body and which areas needed a stronger or lighter touch without me having to tell her. She is very intuitive which makes her an astoundingly effective masseuse. I joined massage envy because my insurance includes massages as part of my coverage. However, they only cover up to $60 per hour and Massage Envy was the only one that fit the bill. I was pleasantly surprised as I used to go to the spas in Arizona and I couldn't find a great therapist. Here, in Clarendon, I have two! Carl and Kyle are both great. The desk staff has been great. My only complaint is that they don't validate for parking and there is no parking lot. read more
