My husband and I were driving by and felt like a lobster roll. While they didn't have one on the menu they told us they could cook us a lobster and prepare it any way we chose. We chose butter! I was very pleased with this restaurant. I showed up around 5:00. I sat at the bar and was waited on by Tad. He was awesome. I had the fresh oysters. Yummy! I ordered a bowl of lobster bisque. That was were I was very smart because it was the best EVER! I wanted that bisque to have my baby I was so in love with it. I also had a Caesar salad, perfect. And for a main course, fish and chips. The fish was good and the chips were everyday french fries, close to what I ecpected. This was my first time there. If I ever find myself back in Chicopee, ill be back! Seems like everything is good here! Stuffing is great and they have a variety of dishes. Oysters, sandwiches or salads, the seafood classics and great pasta dishes. The stuffed shrimp is especially good. read more

Food was ok, I had seafood risotto. It was seriously under seasoned. Chowder was tasty but waitress hit my son in the head with his cup of chowder. Very glad she didn't spill it on him. Dined here 1/15/13. We selected this restaurant because it was close and we didn't want to get home too late after an already long day. Well we got home much later than we thought we would due to slow service. Both waitresses were HORRIBLY slow. When we first got there there was a table that was finishing. Long story short, when they finally got their check they continued to wait and the man ended up going up to the bar himself to have his credit card run through. We overheard another table cancelling their plans for the evening because their meal had taken too long, too. Lastly, another couple made the announcement, "alright already, we're ready for the next phase of our meal..." and "this is ridiculous.....we got here at 6:15." They ordered fish n chips, literally takes minutes to fry. We won't be going back. 20 minute wait for a drink refill is unacceptable, especially when she left to go get us some, then she showed up with our food and said, oh, I didn't bring your drinks because I didn't want the food to get cold...." Maybe they save their best waitresses for the weekend? There was loud laughing and chit chat going on with the staff, behind the bar/kitchen area, all while the customers were waiting in the dining room. Perhaps if the service was on-point I could overlook the mediocre food, I didn't even wrap my leftovers. They do offer a twin lobster special on Tuesday and Wednesdays but I knew that only because I read it online. The waitress told the chef that we came for their dinner menu and was nice enough to say no problem order anything on the menu. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. I bought a Groupon for Masse's because of the great reviews on Yelp. I bought the four person deal...cost $69 for the equivalent of about $120.....2 appetizers and four entrees. One would be hard pressed to spend that much money...our Groupon deduction for the deal was $69...what I paid for the deal. I have spent most of my life in food service, so I have a very tolerant attitude. Our server, Nate, was one of the worst waiters I have encountered...but I blame the management for lack of training. Nate was young and inexperienced. After dinner, one of my companions actually had to find him to get our plates removed. Poor management and training. I am not a seafood eater, but everyone who had seafood at our table was pretty satisfied. I had shepherd's pie and it was pretty awful. 87% potatoes, and tasted mostly of garlic. The creme brulee, my go to desert, had no flavor. I will not go again. read more

The oysters were very good, flavorful, crunchy, with a good brine taste, but 1-2/12 were off in taste. The full belly clams were nicely fried but were very old! Staying in Chicopee and the restaurant was recommended by the front desk. Took my family there. 1. Clam chowder - Gloppie starchy hot mess. Thick, faint clam flavor and occasional clam meat. May have been made with canned clams. Thickened with flour. 2. Lobster roll - Arrived in plain white un-toasted hotdog bun. Lobster was dressed in bland sauce. Totally un acceptabel for $21.00. They deducted from Check. 3. Martini - severed with over macerated, mushy olives. Couldn't tell if the excess vermouth or the over macerated (old) olives ruined the drink. Bar manager was kind enough to make Gibson instead. 4. Mac & Cheese - No flavor. Made with Orecchiette instead of macaroni. Pasted cooked in unsalted water. Bechamel base didn't have flour cooked out. They said three cheeses were used but cheese taste was missing. No topping, no seasoning...an utter disaster. Needed salt, pepper, bread crumbs, Parmesan, butter and broiling to make mac & cheese. This pale pasta in a bowl just doesn't cut it. 5. Service - Bar Manager was excellent. Our waitress was just there to put plates on the table. She wasn't attentive and was unfamiliar with the ingredients in the dishes she served, therefore unable to engage in conversation on the preparation. Had to light a flare to get her attention to settle the check. 6. Blackened swordfish was maybe 1/2 inch thick. Cut like a pancake 7. Bottom line - We skipped dessert. $126 bill for 4. My wife and myself stopped into Masse's for a Friday eve meal and left highly disappointed. The salmon was glazed in bbq sauce not a borbon reduction, and I have never tasted blackened swordfish so salted that it would make any meal unbearable to digest. The waiter (Andrew) was great and went beyond his duty to help us. Andrew spoke to the manager on our behalf whom we had requested to speak to. The COWARDLY MANAGER never approached us and ducked out of sight. I guess he thought we were some scammers or something. Andrew was one of the finest waiters I have ever encountered, but needless to say Massees is just a run of the mill joint who cares less about its patrons. read more

This is the first time I have ordered from Masse's since they did their renovations and re-openend. I called ahead for a pick up order. We ordered the crunchy fried haddock luncheon with fries and veggies and the Fried Sea Scallops with fries and cole slaw. My order was ready upon arrival. However, I had to ask for tartar sauce and ketchup. Also, there was no utensils or napkins (didn't think to check before I left.) They also did not give me the veggies; I received 2 cole slaw instead. The Food was very tasty. The cole slaw was bland....sure wish I would of got the veggies I ordered. The main complaint is the portion size for the amount of $ they charge! They definitely cut the portion size down since re-opening. read more

When their were only 3 tables in the whole place. It was two long hours with no music on. Dead silence. Horrible food. That took forever to come out. Hard dry overcooked steak,mooshy sweet breaded overcooked unstuffed rubber shrimp and soggy asparagus. Of course the calamari was a nasty supermarket rubber band texture. The right batter but that's not the calamari they had before. Looks like someone is trying to save on money . Jan is the best waitress, always kind and considerate and always hooking us up with some new meals. I had not been here for years, but at last, I found myself in Chicopee on a day I was off and they were open. I found the place had been remodeled in such a strange contemporary configuration - I hope they did not pay the architect a lot of money! (When you get a roomful within the main dining area, the acoustics are almost deafening.) In addition to the standard menu items, they also had a nice selection of lunch specials. I opted for the baked bay scallops casserole lunch. But first, I asked for a cup of the lobster bisque. The bisque was good, but a little too salty. An avalanche of people came in right after me, so I did have to wait a bit for the baked scallops and a side they decided to call lyonnaise potatoes, but was really diced fried potatoes with a little onion (no parsley). Regretfully, both the scallops and potatoes were greasy. My server was very nice but was easily distracted as there seemed to be only 2 or 3 servers during the lunch rush; and at the end of the meal, I had quite a wait, feeling like a hostage, until she returned my debit card which I had to reflect in my tip. I might like to give this place another chance - I love sea food - but since I had not been here in years, it may be another long time until my next visit. read more

Great armosphere, great place for a date. The food is fabulous. Started with apps and drinks. Lots of choices on drink and wine menu. Saw someone with a fish bowl had fresh fruit. We stuck wine and beer. Had stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder, oyster and shrimp cocktail. Oysters shucked well no shells, perfect size. Shrimp cooked perfect. Stuffed mushrioms cooked perfect with a little brown on top, stuffing was delicious. Clam chowder a 7, plenty clams in it, just right on thickness for me and great taste. Ordered seared balsamic glazed scallops on a bed of butternut risotto. Scallops cooked perfect, good size, and risotto creamy and cooked perfectly, some of the best risotto i had and i dont really care for risotto, all the flavors melded together well. Boyfriend ordered swordfish on a bed of canelli beans, with brocolli spicy good kick. He said he has had better sword fish, but the flavors were on spot. Too full for desert. Good portions. Have been a customer for many years, back to when one could label it a dive. Now it's fine dining with fine dining prices. The service has always been slow, that's a given but recent trips make us doubt we will visit further. It's not just that they have raised the price but the quality and quantity of food has not risen as well. My favorite has always been the plain ol boiled lobster, it's cost went up a little but they cut out all sides and salad. Plus the automatic gratuity on a large party was not earned, we have kids and they don't do well when you make them wait around for food, drinks, the check, your credit card back, etc. Sorry but they lost their focus. read more

Of course I had to steal a french fry before leaving the parking lot and it was already ice cold. Once home I reheated it and come to find out no cole slaw.
