Take Five is a friendly, old school, Italian restaurant. I have a gluten allergy so I couldn't order the pasta. I had the filet with steamed broccoli and side salad. They don't have baked potatoes which I suppose makes sense considering everyone gets a side of pasta. The salad was unexciting, but OK. The fillet was overcooked, but OK as well. The broccoli side was hysterical. It was one huge stock of broccoli. I didn't get sick, which was good. There weren't many options there for me, but I was happy to have the filet. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Take Five is not high-end or fine, dining, but it is a nice friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant that I would still recommend. read more

A strange place for sure. Looks like they used to have a salad bar, but not these days. Now, dinners come with a salad that is fine but nothing special. They also include soup (pretty good deal). Tonight, it was a chicken and vegetable soup that was fresh and homemade. My wife and I split a sweet chili calamari appetizer that was very tasty. My wife had a steak (overcooked) and some stuffed shrimp (frozen and not very good). I had the prime rib, which was delicious and a very good deal. I got ziti with marinara as a side, and it was pretty boring and clearly not well seasoned. Unfortunately, there was a really off putting foul smell in the dining room and I have no idea what it was. Seemed like either old fish or a problem in the bathroom, but it was not good. The waitress was a great and very attentive. Service was excellent. Bottom line, this is a very mediocre restaurant. Nice restaurant in the feeding hills restaurant that has a wide menu selection. Great value on the prices for how much portion you get. The entrees are consistently good, the soup and salad are sometimes hit or misses. We are usually vegan (we weren't this time) and have found it's challenging to find a good vegetarian option here when we came. Eggplant Parm is the go to at many other local Italian restaurants, so we wished there was something else vegetable and flavor forward here to switch it up. I need to preface with, my wife and I like coming here. HOWEVER, on one particular visit, there was a Prime Rib special. Something like 60 ounces of meat. I can't remember, but it was a monstrous portion. We went with our son, and my wife can't eat much, so we decided to split it. We told the waitress and she gave us a dirty look and advised us there would be an $8 per person plating fee. We didn't mind as even with 3, it was too much food. When the food was served, we were given the monstrous meat with 2 plates on the side. I've been to many o' places that charge a plating fee for splitting meals. In the other cases, they actually re-plated, justifying the fee. Not here. Two empty plates. What a joke! Oh, and that night, I was told the hostess never even showed up for work, the excuse for why no one seemed to know what to do. It has been several months now, and we have never been back. read more

We came in for a bunch at a Springfield Church catered by this restaurant. The only item that was fresh was the bread. The meatballs, and chicken we awful. the Chicken francese taste rubbery, the meatballs like paper, didn't even taste like meatballs, the sauce on the over cooked pasta was ok. The salad was very good, but the dressing tastes watered down. Don't recommend hiring this company for a bunch. I think some of their meals could use more love(the tortellinis are just frozen/bland maybe they can consider homemade and the Alfredo dish was also a little bland).. my husband still loved the lobster ravioli and I would def get the chicken parm again from our first visit here. The reason I am upping my review is they have delicious fresh baked bread from a bread maker & their fried Oreos for dessert are to die for! Literally better than the big E! Should be 3 1/2 stars for the pretty good value here. Bottom line is that you might not get a gourmet meal here, but the value (what you get for your money) is pretty darned good. I ordered lemon pepper mussels (one pound) off the appetizer menu, and I was surprised when the server said "you know that comes with pasta". Very nice.. I wasn't expecting that since so many times mussels come with just the broth. The lemon pepper broth had a lot of minced garlic in there and the dish was very tasty. I asked to substitute a vegetable for the pasta, and had a nice steamed broccoli crown in its place. The broccoli was served in a ramekin, stem side down, so it looked like a little bonsai tree. The mussels and side were $12.95. I added the Take Five's salad bar for $5.95 -it was good, but to be honest, pretty average fare. Anything unusual on the salad bar? Maybe some cubed cheese and pickled vegetables offered alongside the usual lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, onions, cottage cheese, pepperoncini, beets, chickpeas, black olives, and cole slaw. My wife hit the jackpot with a mammoth ziti and sweet sausage- a huge serving with tons of meat. It came with the salad bar included and ran $15.95. Service was fine, our server was attentive and pleasant. Décor, well, kind of average in a "What would Robert Irvine do?" kind of way. Last Sunday we had a surprise birthday party at Take 5 restaurant with about 20 guests. We worked with Frank to set up a schedule and food choices. He was very helpful with his knowledge and suggestions. We had 3 choices of appetizers and people could choose from 5 entrees. All of the food was excellent. Have been looking for a decent salad bar that wasn't overly pricey and we've finally found it. Haven't been here for five or six years and had forgotten about their salad bar. Thankfully they still have it and it is outstanding. Well stocked and everything in it is chilled perfectly. Some of the items in the back are a pain to reach but it can be done without spilling if you're careful about it. We will certainly be back even though it's a drive to get here just for a salad but I'm okay with that. They are undergoing some upgrades but it doesn't affect your eating experience in the slightest. Plenty of parking in their own lot, the waitress was decent, the place was clean and tidy and it would've been nice and quiet if it wasn't for the family with several kids being kids. Had the veal and lobster Oscar on dinner last night. Veal was as very thin and as tough as leather. Lobster is not Maine lobster which they should let you know that it's rock lobster. First timers on 11/13/21 4:40 PM ordered calamari for app, seafood medley and broccoli alfredo. Calamari and marinara were both bland. Thought Marinara was tomato paste in a dish. Wife had about 3 bites of chicken alfredo. No flavor, no sure not was used for cheese flavoring but Applebees was even better. My seafood medley had the flavor of white claim sauce from a can of Progresso, which gave the pasta a horrible taste. I had two swirls of pasta. I ate the seafood that came with, because for $30 thought I should have something. even through website says entrée is 28. same with my wife's entrée different price on dinner menu than in restaurant. so we left 90 of meal and 95% of my wife's meal there, but tipped the waitress because wait staff need help. I have eaten here twice in 5 weeks and both times were amazing. The food portions and quality are excellent. You get bread, soup and salad bar with every meal. I had the steak gorgonzola and chicken franchise for my choices. Service was stellar and comfortable atmosphere. On Tuesdays they have a 5 for $20 special (app, soup, salad, meal and dessert) but the meal portion is less but still a great value (instead of 2 pieces of chicken you get 1). Had a lunch date with my fiance and Take Five was on the way to our errands. The inside of the dining room is a very unique design. It's ornately furnished but the decor itself is sparse. It's loud and echoey and all one shade of crimson. I wasn't too impressed with the salad bar. My fiance opted for a premium salad. I chose a burger. Hard to mess up a salad, but the lettuce wasn't drained well. My burger was cooked well, but was overly greasy. I really don't like when the bottom part of the bun is completely saturated. Since it was lunch we stuck to waters. Our server was rarely around and looked a little unkempt. We probably won't be back for a visit, but I'm glad we tried it. read more

Admittedly for no reason Take Five was never on my radar. However I tried it looking for a nice take out meal during the covid era and realized I've been missing out. Having gone several times now I'm hooked. Each meal we had was well prepared, seasoned perfectly, and of highest quality. Menu is extensive and portion sizes will not disappoint!
