I stopped here for lunch on the way to Trader Joe's. Order taker was not friendly. Some tables were not cleaned. I ordered the Chile verde platter. The meat was not heated all the way through. My husband ordered cheese enchilada combo me a taco salad and chips. Enchilada wasn't even melted and rest of his meal cold. We have been to Master Taco twice and is was as good the second time as the first. The Arizona Surfing Burrito is crazy and good. It is loaded with Carne Asada, Shrimp, Fries, Cheese, Guacamole and a Chipotle Sauce. Also tried the Master Combo - a Shrimp Burrito, Fish Taco w/ Medium Drink. really good! Drink refills are from fountain (Coca Cola). They have authentic Mexican drinks (forgot the names). A salsa provides several condiments. Prices are extremely inexpensive. Friendly and informative staff. Seating is sufficient. We will return. read more

We have been coming to Master Taco for over a Year. Although the food is still Delicious, customer service is a one star. Our order got lost so after 23 minutes we went and asked about it. The girls at the register bickered and then said they would get the order in. We finally got our food 35 minutes later with not even a "Im sorry". In the one hour we were there, I literally over heard at least 6 complaints about orders that came out wrong. They seems annoyed rather than apologetic. It's overpriced for the quality of food. I ordered coffee and paid for it and was told coffee machine was out. I had to remind them about my coffee, they apologized and said the cashier is new and it's her birthday and to please be understanding. No problem, but the food wasn't good. read more

Guess I am going against the grain with all the rave reviews for this place but I was not impressed when I ate there yesterday. First, I was greeted by a young lady who had the customer service skills of a stone. Frown on her face the entire time and acted put out to have to take my order. I thought maybe it was just me or my deodorant but I watched and she treated the customers who came in after me the same way so I guess it wasn't just me. Second, this place is expensive for fast food. I ordered a 2 taco combo which is two tacos with a small serving of rice and beans. I also ordered a medium fountain drink. My total was $12.50. That is what I would expect to pay for a meal like that in a full service restaurant - not in a fast food joint where I have to order at the counter and then return to the counter to get my food. $12.50 is pretty expensive for a fast food lunch in my book. Third, the food was nothing to brag about. To be fair, the tacos had a fair amount of filling but the flavors weren't anything I will remember. Nothing special for sure. Haven't decided if I will give this place a second chance, but I doubt it. read more

This is the perfect hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. We ate there a couple times while visiting the area, and it was excellent both times. It's authentic Mexican style if you just order street tacos, or a little more American if you order something like a shrimp burrito. Just perfect. Not expensive, tasty lunch place. Better than a drive thru. Taco Tuesday specials. It doesn't get better than this. Large portions and everything I have seen looks fantastic. You also get chips on your plate with each meal, which is a big win in my book! The meat is tender and juicy. The tortillas are fried just right, with the right amount of grease. The best part is the fresh and tasty salsa cart that you can dish up from to your hearts content. I'm a gringo- I can't make salsas, so I have to rely on places like master taco to help me get my salsa fix. Just try it- you'll like it! My husband is from LA, and says the real test of a Mexican restaurant is their chile relleno... Master Taco gets an A+! We both got one since the reviews were so good and the relleno lived up to its reputation. I am a sauce person, so it was a bonus that they had a serve yourself salsa bar. My personal favorite is the diablo. It is not the hottest of their salsas, but if you like smoky flavor, it's the salsa for you! I had some leftover shrimp and the diablo was delicious on them. The flavor of the green salsa was great, but be forewarned... its HOT. REALLY HOT. I don't know if they make their own corn tortillas, but they were tender and authentic. Called in a order pick it up went home and notice my food was wrong I didn't order refried beans I order double rice. Call them told me to bring the order in which I did. Remade my order went home again and again my food had beans. Call them told them my order was messed up again said I wasn't going to drive over again. OMG - can you say yummy. It seems to be a mom and pop place that is family run. The food was awesome. We had the carne asada street tacos - and they were the best we have had in arizona for sure. I had the rolled tacos with chicken. It was served with lots of cheese and guacamole. They were not over fried like some places do. They were just right.
