I use to love Herrera's and was a customer for years, but they have gotten so expensive with any substitutions. last time I go :( I paid $18.30 for 2 tacos (no meal), just 2 tacos. I asked to substitute the guac and pico (the tacos come with) for cheese and lettuce- and she said it would be extra. They charged me over $4 for some iceberg lettuce and cheese, and would not substitute. The tacos were ok, but not worth fine dining restaurant prices. We have been coming to Herreras for several years. I am really hoping today was an off day and not a new normal because there wasn't much that was good today. I went inside and ordered a 26, but asked for a green chili burro instead of Carne Asada. My husband took 2 bites and threw everything away. This green chili burro wasn't anything like the green chili burro we just had 2 weeks earlier. He said it tasted like beef and gravy, but not in a good way. He also said the beans and rice were dry and tasted microwaved, and the quesadilla I had also bought had too many burnt tortilla spots. I also ordered the five rolled tacos and they were ok. We will try again in a few weeks and hope they are back to what we have come to enjoy. read more

Open 24 hours. My wife and I have always got good food, and service here. Herrera's is less than 1/4 mile from our house. They have a few tables in the restaurant but most of their business it drive through and take out. Their burritos are plenty for one person to eat if you are hungry and enough to share if you are not. Herrera's is literally the best Mexican Food place I have ever been to. I was a vegetarian for two years but I had one bite of their CARNE ASADA FRIES and it was all over. It is so good and delicious, I often end up sharing it with someone because the serving is so huge. I used to live closer to Glendale but live in Tempe now and I still make the drive about once a month to get the carne asada fries. You will NEVER find better fries. Wow, first time eating here and we will be back! Soooo much better than Filiberto's or any other similar places. Rice and beans were super fresh and tasty. I'm not usually a big fan of them so this was a nice surprise. The shredded beef enchilada has pieces of green pepper and onion in it, cooked perfectly, not killed from over cooking. Chicken enchilada was delicious too. You can tell they use high quality ingredients! Enchilada sauce is on the sweet side which is the only thing that was kind of off for me, but still good. I found Herreras and was a little nervous because I hadn't been here before. Well, I'm glad I went here because it was the best carne asada burrito I could ask for. It was so dang good. Tasty marinated beef, fresh pico, guac, and hot of the grill tortilla. Killer red hot sauce. I'm picky, and I like my burrito to be perfect. Herreras did it, Way to go! It's officially my new neighborhood burrito spot. I just gotta throw some props out because this burrito was freakin good and it completely satisfied my craving for a good carne asada burrito. I usually don't post comments or reviews, but I had a bad experience there tonight. I've been going to this restaurant since it opened. I love this place and they have some great food. That being said I ordered a combo in the drive thru that said said it was 11.89. When I proceeded to the window the gentleman told me I owed him 18$. I explained to him that the drive thru menu said the combo I ordered was 11.89. He then told me that his menu inside the restaurant says 16.89. Then he told me he will make a deal that if the drive thru menu says 11.89 then he would give me my food for free but if it didn't then he wouldn't serve me ever again. I think this is ridiculous because I come to this place 3-4 times a week for as long as they've been open and the only times I have issues is with this guy. They just lost a loyal customer read more

I went to this spot for lunch with coworkers. I am not rating this on the other food I'm rating this place solely based on mine. Our total order was 2 #22 chimichanga with rice and beans( the coworkers loved it) , a cabeza burrito( coworker 3 said it was super bland) , and finally a shrimp cocktail(mine). Now not to be picky which by the way I for sure am not. The shrimp to veggie ratio was great, veggies were the perfect amount( I personally like a ton of avocado) , buuuttt, there was soooooo much SALT! and when I say SO much I literally could not taste the shrimp or veggies, it was inedible. And I paid $16 thats with tax.. It was so spicy that it seemed like they tried to add chile to mask the overload of salt, it just was not working. If I didn't have high blood pressure then I forsure have it now. Lol. Will I give it a try again? Probably not. I didn't want to believe all the negative reviews. Last year, a couple years ago, a few years ago we would go miles out of our way to stop at this place. Today I go there and order me a nine dollar carne asada burrito. Have to go through the drive-through. I guess it is a screw you in the drive-through. I drive away a couple miles down the road I start to eat my burrito. There was very very little meat inside this burrito but they must've put at least a full onion in this thing. I double checked my receipt, to make sure I didn't order an onion burrito. The receipt said it was the carne asada. There was also a green sauce which I figured they were trying to do guacamole. There was so little meat in this burrito that the sauce they smothered it in made the meat cold. This thing was almost 9 dollars read more
