This is Matcha Town's second location as far as I know after the opening of the Cupertino location late last year. I love Matcha Town, so I was absolutely thrilled to see that one has opened up in my neighborhood. As mentioned in my other review of Matcha Town, I believe Matcha Town is from the same people that brought us Molly Tea, so branding, tea flavors, merchandise, and even ordering system are all familiar to me. This location quietly opened last month without much fanfare, and staff told me they'll have their grand opening sometime in June, which is also when they will offer their awesome gelato. I'm super excited for that, but in the meantime, you can enjoy their gelato cakes and drinks. Out of their gelato flavors, my favorites are the yuzu shiso and white champaca. They also have different levels of matcha intensity in their gelato to suit different tastes. I actually haven't tried drinks from Matcha Town yet since I really go there just for their gelato, but I would presume they're similar to Molly Tea since they did offer a few of the same drinks. Super excited to have a Matcha Town on this side of town. Now I can get my gelato fix much easier! read more

Matcha Town is located in a busy strip mall next to ume and Starbucks with hmart and mcd as anchor. Got here at around 930pm, so there was plenty of parking, which is great for this plaza. Placed my order in 1:2 kiosk. Got their matcha latte, whisked fresh upon order. A bit cluttered behind the counter but overall clean with gd drinks and friendly staff. read more

matcha is so yum here! I highly recommend trying the matcha latte or the jasmine matcha salted cheese! this has to be my new favorite matcha spot! i can't wait for them to bring the gelato to the store, they had a sign stating they won't have it until June! The matcha latte is strong and sweet enough at 100%. i think i could get the matcha at 50% or 70% if you want it less sweet but for me, 100% is as a good spot to start with. the jasmine matcha salted cheese was so yummy! i can taste the matcha and the jasmine notes in the drink. i like that the salted cheese adds a hint of salt to the sweetness. i got it at 100% i think next time I will get 70% so the matcha shines through more. the guava matcha mainly tasted like guava. we got it 100% sweetness so maybe that's why? it just tasted like guava milk. there's not really a matcha note to it. i would maybe get 50% sweetness so that you can taste the matcha more. read more

I came here in the afternoon on Memorial Day. It wasn't very busy, but it shares a parking lot with hmart, which can get hectic at times. There are a few places to sit while you wait, but it's not the kind of place where you can sit and hang out. I got the guava matcha, and it was pretty good. It was a bit more floral than I expected. Got the pink guava matcha with 50% sugar and the sweetness was perfect for my liking. Cute little place with a nice vibe overall. First time visiting Matcha town. Went on a Saturday afternoon. There was a small wait to use one of the two kiosks. Ordering is done on the kiosk. The wait to get our drinks was less than 10 minutes. Since they are newly opened they do not have the ice cream yet. The guava matcha as a drink tasted 5/5. The guava taste overpowered the matcha, I barely tasted the matcha and I put the lowest amount of sugar. The guava tasted really good though. The sweetness level was good for the least amount of sugar. I would come back and try their champaca drinks next time. read more

The store is very simple and small, it had 3 tables total if you're going to sit and wait for your drink. We were greeted when coming in, and we ordered at the kiosk. We looked at the menu before coming, initally wanting the Salted Cheese Matcha Float and was saddened to find that the geloato/ice cream isn't available until June. So we're probably coming back then. We ordered the Salted Cheese White Champaca and the Matcha Pink Guava Matcha, both at 100% sweetness. Not bad and convenient location with the hmart nearby. I honestly don't think anything is particularly superb about this place or its drink.... I only had their matcha latte and it wasn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way or wait over 30 minutes for the drink if you know what I mean. Its kinda like molly tea in terms of aesthetic and taste but just matcha. They do give you alot like it took me lowkey 40 minutes to finish my drink so in a sense its pretty worth the 7 dollars for the amount you get. read more

I give the guava matcha a 10/10 and would 100% get it again. They whisk the matcha and its a beautiful bright green color. I also think the marketing is genius -if you rack enough points with the rewards system you can get cute items like a scent diffuser or a plush keychain. The strawberry matcha latte was pretty unmemorable to me, and the hojicha was also extremely bitter. Service was good. The barista was kind and helpful, which I appreciated. You order through a kiosk, so there isn't a ton of interaction overall. When I first came around their opening, there was basically no line. After they started getting more hype, the lines became longer and longer. I think it's worth trying, but personally I wouldn't wait in a huge line for it. Overall, the matcha itself tastes authentic and is prepared well, but some drinks are just too bitter for my preference. My recommendations: the ice cream or Crème Brûlée Matcha. Those were easily the standouts for me.

It's not sterile like so many new cafes trying to look perfect for photos. It has real character, with little red stackable stools scattered around and a mix of different tables and seating that all feel intentional rather than matched from a catalog. I felt I was in a cafe somewhere in SEA. There are small touches throughout that nod to Southeast Asia without feeling forced, and it makes the whole place feel warm and inviting. The coffee tastes amazing, I got the Pandan Muôì Latte and it tasted like coconut and Pandan without being overly sweet and refreshing. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Their grand opening is this weekend, and if the soft opening is any indication, this is going to be one of the best cafes in San Jose. Easily my favorite spot in the city right now.
