Service was incredibly slow and food was incredibly mediocre. We ordered two milkshakes and they arrived completely melted. Went tonight for a bite to eat. Our server barely checked on us. I had to ask someone else about our food because it was taking so long (a chicken salad and burger sliders). When the food finally came out my salad was missing chicken. I sent it back and could see the kitchen guys putting their hands in the salad to see where the chicken was. I asked the manager to make sure they gave me a fresh salad he said they would. The salad came and was fine. The sliders were over cooked. I gave feedback to the waiter about his lack of attention but still tipped him 15%. About 20 minutes into the ride home my stomach started cramping. Yes food poisoning. From a salad. SMH . This was a very small fraction from downright awful. I had the arancini balls, chicken avocado sandwich, and chocolate cake. The arancini balls were okay. They were bland for the most part, but it wasn't too big of a deal. The chicken sandwich however was downright terrible and inedible. It was over cooked beyond measure and tasted like a piece of burnt rubber. Horrid. The piece of chocolate cake was good and is the saving grace for this review. They told us 30 minutes but we were seated in less time than that. Our server was super and offered suggestions and options without us even asking! The rest of our table ordered various pizzas, half fried chicken (juicy!) and chicken strips. Had a very nice lunch at this restaurant today with my wife. Food was very good and the service was excellent also. The price point was a little bit higher than I expected but not too bad. What really stood out for us was that the garlic bread that we bought did not have the cheese melted all the way through and so we just mentioned it. They ended up taking that off our bill and were very apologetic. I always see this as a sign of a very good restaurant when they make things right no matter what! Came here with friends for dinner. Originally we were supposed to be a larger party of 7 and I was able to call ahead and make a reservation. That was super convenient. In the end our party ended up being smaller and they accommodated our party change. We ordered the Fire & Smoke Pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, chimichurri steak and frites, and a pitcher of sangria. We loved the sangria! It was fruity and refreshing and enough for our group to have a few glasses each. The fettuccine was great and served with a yummy garlic bread. The big "however" was the sound quality. This place is LOUD. While I and my guests were seated far inside the restaurant and not near the door, EVERYONE in the restaurant had to SHOUT for any conversation because the live music (a jazz keyboardist) overwhelmed the space with his amplified sound. We asked our server if the music could be lowered a little bit to enable conversation at our table without shouting, but it appears that he was overruled by management. So: loud music, causing everyone to shout to talk over the music, leading to an unpleasant dining experience. Regardless of good food and good service, the ambiance was deplorable. I can't recommend this place if you want to actually talk to your companions or not have to continually ask the waiter to repeat himself because you can't hear him above the din. I went here for lunch and was able to get seated very quickly. Our food arrived fairly quickly, so it was convenient when we only had limited time to get back to the office. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was fair. They definitely heavy in the toppings and that was great. The pizza was very thin, so if that is your preference this would be great for you. I'm more of a pan pizza style person, so this did not really hit the a lot for me. The sauce was good...not overly sweet. When I give a review it's with careful consideration because customer service is a way of life. After a long day of touring the city my son and I settled on this place to eat. The atmosphere is perfect for sports fans and groups just wanting to grab a drink and dinner. We sat on the high chairs adjacent to the bar and waited to be attended to, not realizing after we got the menus we had to get up and ask the bar attendant for what we wanted. I'm not one to leave bad reviews because I only make reservations at places my family and I enjoy. I made reservations for NYE months in advance to prepare for our trip to DC. After landing the night before, I received a voicemail letting me know they were cancelling our reservations to close early for NYE. They didn't offer help making reservations elsewhere or future comp meals, nothing. Things I hope they consider in the future: - please do not make times available in advance when you have pre-determined that you will not be able to offer - contact customers sooner than 24 hours when you know you won't be open - offer some sort of comp meals to your customers to make good on a bad situation you as a business created. read more

With optimism, I took my mother to this bistro for lunch. The Chicken Alfredo dish which I ordered took me by surprise; it was very tasty - the sauce was creamy and the pasta cooked al dente. However, my mom did not have such a great time there. Unfortunately her Cobb salad turned out to be disappointing too, especially the avocado which had a plastic-like texture and lacked any flavor at all. In addition, we were not satisfied with the level of service provided by waitstaff either. We felt like they wanted us to hurry up with our order or anything else we asked them for would be done half-heartedly. Having said that even though everything about my meal was perfect in itself, it still left much to desire because of how awful her salad tasted and poor service received overall from waitstaff members' side.So yes indeed I will go back there only if they maintain their current standard of preparing pasta dishes but this time around let other meals also meet these standards as well as improving on customer care skills among employees serving clients like ourselves. They take reservations. One of the good meals we had while in DC. It wasn't busy when we arrived which was around 6p on a Friday night but it sure did get busy later that we saw our server/waitress running around. She was good though and tried her best to check in on us. Food wasn't too bad. Loved their brick oven pizza. It was thin and crispy. I appreciate that we could do half and half so the kids can have their option and the adults can have theirs. Love the different specialty they offered as well. The pepperoni was too spicy for my son, so he ended up picking it off but they do put quite a bit on there. The bacon Bianca could use more topping though. My other son wanted the fish and chips. The batter wasn't all that great but it was edible. In addition to pizza my husband and I shared the chicken burger which was good. We ended the meal with the s'more which I believe was $10. All their desserts were $10. I saw someone order a cheese cake and it was a hefty slice. The s'more was too much for us group of 4 though, we couldn't finish it due to it being soooo sweet, which we knew what we were getting into. On a mild sunny summer day in Washington, D.C. during the COVID-19 pandemic, I got a nice outdoor table in a shaded area at this Matchbox location. There was no line, The Smith up the block. The food and service here is solid and you won't be unsatisfied. I went with this menu item and had no regrets: BBQ Bacon Burger - applewood smoked bacon, pickles, tomatoes, crispy onion straws, tillamook cheddar I think the Matchbox chain is awesome with their beautiful wood furniture, chill-by-the-fireplace-vibe, and higher-end bar cuisine. For whatever reason, it's not usually high on my list of places frequent for food, but it is worth a trip especially if you've never been! read more
